AN- Hi!! If you're reading this, I just wanted to say thank you for reading my fic. I haven't written in a while so I'm a bit (a lot) rusty, but I'll be sure to give out quality content.

this fic is about Gohan/Bulla. Gohan is 49 (turning 50 later on) and Bulla is 27. Enjoy!!

Chapter one - the beginning of a blossoming friendship

Bulla walked around in the city in peace as the wind blew into her face, moving her teal locks and bangs around as she walked and eyeing the buildings that were around her. She had just broken up with her long-time girlfriend of six years, Pan after she finally had enough of their relationship. Their relationship was not the greatest as the first years of it were fantastic to her, until things started to slow down and Pan became distant from her.

She had gotten tired of the constant avoiding and miscommunication the two had in their relationship, which had gotten out of hand for her. The teal-haired woman grimaced and replayed all of the moments that she and Pan ever fought as they were horrible memories, she never thought of one happy memory as the worst ones outweighed all of the memories that were pleasant in their relationship. Even her family, specifically her brother Trunks, told her to break it off with Pan years ago but she didn't listen. Bulla just loved Pan too much until now.

Bulla kept eyeing all the buildings and was just giving a small grin at them. 'Maybe it was for the best for me to break up with Pan..' She thought, chuckling to herself. The stress that she gained from the relationship also gave her another hobby, training. For the past 4-5 miserable years of their relationship, Bulla had become stressed with Pan and due to that stress, she developed a much healthier way of relieving her from it other than crying or lashing out at her loved ones.

She always wanted to train to become stronger but never liked her father's methods of training. She would sometimes ask Pan to help her with it; Pan would promise her that she will but she never fulfilled that promise to her and would off on her own. Bulla looked down at the ground at the thought of her failed relationship with the daughter of Gohan, and just wished something would've just happened to make it better. At least she gained some sweet muscles from it, so that's a plus.

Bulla kept on walking around the city until she stopped in her tracks after seeing someone familiar in a cafe, sitting alone at a table.

"Gohan?"

Bulla stared at the 49-year-old man from the window of the cafe, wondering what he was doing here alone, he didn't know that Bulla was staring at him as the teal-haired woman wondered why Gohan was looking more depressed and tired than usual. She went into the cafe, walking up to the other half Saiyan.

Gohan didn't notice Bulla's Ki signature at all and when Bulla got closer, she put her hand on his shoulder to wake the older half Saiyan from his mind. Gohan jumped a little, looking straight at the person who touched him but his look softened when he saw Bulla. "Oh, hi Bulla!" He said, giving a friendly smile at his daughter's now ex-girlfriend. "You can sit across from me if you want."

Bulla chuckled at Gohan's undoubted kindness and nodded with a grin, sitting across from him. "Do you want me to get you anything?" The older half Saiyan asked and Bulla shook her head, she didn't really like coffee. "No I'm fine, I don't need anything." She responded to the older man, staring at Gohan and noticing that eye bags had been forming under his eyes.

For Gohan's age, he still looked like he was still in his early thirties. Well, it's probably because of the Saiyan blood making them look more incredibly young than they are. Gohan took a sip of his coffee and stared at Bulla as well, his legs shifting around awkwardly. Gohan finally broke the silence and puts his cup down. "So, why did you come up to me?" He asked Bulla, who was also feeling a bit awkward.

Bulla fidgeted with her fingers and huffed, looking at Goku's eldest son. "Well uh...I saw you through the window and you looked kind of upset. Is there something going on?" The teal-haired woman asked, giving small glances to the man. She couldn't help but admire his face a bit, even with the eye bags it still looked so soft.

Gohan felt surprised about the question and grinned a bit. "Well. I guess nothing in particular. It's one of those days you know?" He lied to Bulla, giving out a small nervous laugh. There was something wrong. A few days ago he was kicked out of his house because Videl filed a divorce, she said she didn't love him anymore and thought it was best to get divorced.

Bulla gave an even more concerned look at Gohan as her eyes gave remorse. "I know you're lying Gohan. You can tell me what's wrong and I won't tell anyone." She told the man, wanting to know what was in his mind. Bulla didn't know why she was this eager to know about another family friend's problems, probably it was because Gohan is Pan's father and wanted to make it up or she just wanted to help another being in need no matter who it was.

Gohan looked at the teal-haired woman with melancholy and chuckled softly. "Well, you caught me." He smiled a little, it was pretty obvious to see that Gohan was not doing ok whatsoever. Though props to him for trying to seem like things were ok. "To put it simply, Videl and I divorced and I got kicked out." He told Bulla, rubbing the back of his neck. "Don't worry! We left on good terms and we're still friends. She also gave me a place too." He nervously smiled as if that was going to make Bulla less worried than she was after hearing that.

Bulla felt a bit worried and sad for Gohan, she's known about his mental health troubles due to Pan talking trash and berating her own father to her, so this divorce is putting him in the worst mental state. She needed to find a way to help. "So, when did it happen?" She didn't want to ask too many pestering questions so started slow.

Gohan took off his glasses and sighed, rubbing his temples as he looked down at his cup. "About four days ago." He told Bulla and began to explain what had happened on that day. Bulla didn't care, as long as she was helping a friend of hers.

Flashback

"look Gohan. You're a great man but you know that our relationship has been failing for years. I'm getting a divorce to end things with you." Videl's cold words flooded Gohan's mind as they were right. He knew that the relationship between them was failing but he didn't want to admit it.

Videl looked at him with somewhat remorseful eyes and sighed, putting her hand on their table counter. "I know you don't like this, but you and I know this relationship isn't going to last for long." She told the poor man, who didn't know what to say. Videl then got out the divorce papers that were trapped under her arm, taking out the contents.

She got out a pen, signing her name on it first, and handed the pen over to Gohan. The Saiyan halfling was hesitant at first but then later signed it. It was officially done. Gohan puts the pen down, looking at his now ex-wife. "How do we tell Pan?" He asked, finally saying a word about this.

"We'll tell her after she's done with her martial arts class, I'm sure she'll understand." Gohan grimaced uncomfortably at the thought of his daughter's reaction to this and nodded. "Ok." He sighed, walking upstairs to get his stuff.

Videl watched Gohan and followed him upstairs. "You know that I'm going to kick you out of this house. The least that I can do is help you with your stuff." She told her now ex-husband, making Gohan surprised. He didn't get why Videl was making this kind gesture towards him but went into the room with her.

After all of Gohan's things were removed and put in tons of boxes then later were sent into capsules, Gohan was about to leave until Videl grabbed his arm. "Wait! Before you go, I got something for you." She told Gohan and pulled out some keys. Gohan was confused and looked at Videl. "What are you doing?" He asked, wondering why Videl was giving so much kindness to him even though they were in the process of divorce.

"I talked to my father about the divorce and he offered to give you a temporary apartment. All paid by him until you've made enough money to own it yourself." Videl explained with a smile and puts it in Gohan's hand, closing it. "Please take it. It's the least that I can do from you know, kicking you out of my house."

Gohan looked at his closed hand and sighed, nodding to Videl's offer. "Ok, I'll take it." He gave a small but fake smile at Videl and left, putting the keys into his pocket and getting into his car as he drove off. Before he drove too far he heard Videl shout that they can still be friends. He smiled to that.

When he got to a stoplight he checked on the keys to see where the apartment complex was and sighed in despair, unknowingly letting tears slip out of his eyes as choked sobs rang in his car. God, this was going to be miserable.

End of Flashback.

Gohan finally looked up at Bulla and wiped the tears that were running down his cheeks. "That's what happened. I just..I just keep wondering what I did to her to not make her love me anymore. I didn't want to believe it and I tried mending our relationship I did! I guess it just wasn't enough..." He let out a breathy sigh and Bulla felt even worse for Gohan as this was similar to her and Pan's relationship.

"I mean we're still friends but I feel so stressed...I don't know how to get rid of it and I keep getting angry at myself." Gohan added in and something clicked in Bulla's brain. That's right! This is your chance, Bulla!

Gohan folded his hands together and looked around until Bulla spoke. "You said you were feeling stressed about this situation?" She asked and Gohan gave her a confused look. "Yea? What about it?" He asked, wondering what Bulla was going to say next.

Bulla huffed and prepared herself, this was finally going to be her chance. "Whenever I'm stressed I go train." She told Gohan and the man was full ears. "So..." Bulla's eyes glimmered with excitement and smiled.

"Want to train with me and become training buddies?"
