Guardians from Another Universe

Ch 1: Toys Galore

Over the course of the New Year's weekend, the team got together every evening to perform karaoke. Sadly, the three-day streak came to an end, and everyone had to return to their normal routines. Everyone called goodbyes and Radley led them home.

"That was a nice relaxing day, wouldn't you say, Radley?" asked Kalin.

"It was," Radley smiled.

"I hope tomorrow goes well too."

"It probably will," Radley smiled.

"Well, I'm going to take a shower now."

"Alright." Radley settled down.

Kalin spent about 10 minutes bathing. Radley read a magazine. Kalin changed into his pajamas, brushed his teeth, and went into the bedroom.

Radley smiled at him and got up. "All ready for bed?"

"Yes, I am," Kalin nodded.

"Cool." Radley headed into the shower.

Kalin laid down in bed and looked at his phone. Radley soon came out.

Kalin looked up at him. "That was quick."

"I'm eager to sleep," Radley chuckled.

"Heh, same here," smiled Kalin.

Radley climbed into bed.

"Good night, Radley," said Kalin as he drifted off to sleep.

"Goodnight." Radley dozed.

The night passed by peacefully. Radley didn't wake up until he'd slept well. Kalin hated to admit it, but he was a pretty heavy sleeper.

Radley almost always seemed to wake up if the phone went off, but today was quiet. Finally, he stirred. Radley looked sleepily over at Kalin.

"Oh... it's morning already?" mumbled Kalin.

"Yeah," Radley said.

"Are we just going to the City for burgers?"

"I'm sure we'll do more than that once there," Radley chuckled.

"You're probably right," chuckled Kalin.

"There's still a lot we haven't seen," Radley said. "And done."

"Yeah, I know. I still don't know much about New Domino City."

"We can plan to explore a lot."

"Alright," Kalin nodded.

Radley started to get up to make breakfast. Kalin checked the mail and his phone for messages. Bruno was checking to make sure the plan was still go. Kalin replied with a yes. Bruno was enthusiastic.

"You seem really excited," called Kalin. "What do you have in mind, Bruno?"

"Food! And friends!" Bruno said.

"Ha ha, I agree," replied Kalin. "I'm sure West and Nico are looking forward to eating burgers with you."

"Yeah, it'll be fun!" Bruno said.

"What about Yusei?" asked Kalin.

"Yusei's looking forward to it too!" Bruno said.

"That's great! Well, I'm going to have breakfast now. See you guys there!"

"See you!" Bruno said.

"Alright," replied Kalin before hanging up and heading to the kitchen.

Radley was making breakfast.

Kalin came and smelled the food. "Hey Radley, smells delicious. What are you making?"

"Scrambled eggs, bacon, and blueberry pancakes," Radley said.

"Thank you very much. It's delicious too."

"Thanks!" Radley smiled as he dug in.

"I should learn more cooking skills from you."

"I'm happy to teach you!" Radley said.

Let me know when you're free."

"I could do it anytime. You could watch me make a meal."

"Sure. Maybe tonight or tomorrow."

"Great!" Radley said.

"I wonder if the Bunch are done with their breakfast?"

"Probably soon."

"Oh, it seems they're here," stated Kalin as he looked out the window.

Radley smiled and opened the door. "Hi, guys."

"Hi. Ready to go to the City?"

"Yes!" Scotch said.

"Okay!" Radley got on his motorcycle.

Kalin decided to first call Jordan to see if he West, and Nico were ready.

They were ready, and coming right then.

"Jordan and his kids say they are coming now," said Kalin as he got on his motorcycle.

The van pulled up. "Hi!" West called.

"Hey West," smiled Kalin. "All ready?"

"Yeah!" West grinned.

Radley greeted them and led everyone to the City. Everything seemed perfectly normal; the sky being clear and blue. Radley was glad it was a good day to ride. They arrived before long.

Kalin rang the doorbell on Yusei's house.

Bruno answered with Monkey on his shoulder. "Hey!"

"Hi Bruno! Hi Monkey!" waved West.

"How are you guys doing?" asked Nico.

"We're great!" Bruno said.

Monkey meowed.

"How's Yusei?" asked West as the kids petted Monkey.

"He's great too!" Bruno said.

Yusei appeared. "Hey, guys." He smiled.

"Hey Yusei, ready to go?" asked Kalin.

"Yeah," Yusei smiled.

"Let's go!" exclaimed West.

They all headed out to the burger place.

The rest of the team were waiting for them outside the restaurant.

"You're here!" Leo grinned.

"Hi guys!" waved West. "I can't wait to try the burgers!"

"Let's go order!" Leo said.

"Ok!" nodded West. They walked into the burger shop and looked at the menu.

Everyone started choosing things.

"Today special: Grilled Pineapple Hawaiian Burger. Sounds yummy!" grinned Carly.

"I'm getting that!" Scotch declared.

"Me too!" chirped Carly.

Some wanted cheeseburgers. There were special varieties of those too.

"Just how many burgers does this restaurant have?" wondered Nico.

"It looks like gourmet burgers are their specialty," Radley said.

"Yes, it's the best gourmet burger place in the City," explained Crow.

Some got chicken burgers.

"I'm not surprised it's so popular," said Kalin.

"Yes, this place is amazing," Radley said.

"What's your favorite burger, Bruno?" asked West.

"Hmm. Wow, it's hard to pick just one! I still haven't tried them all. But this triple cheeseburger is great!" Bruno said.

"I love cheese too!" nodded West.

"Geez, I didn't think Bruno would eat such a big burger," Jack rolled his eyes.

"He loves food," Radley chuckled.

"It is a blessing to have access to plenty of food," stated Akiza.

"It sure is," Crow said. They could never forget that it hadn't always been the case for them.

"I must say these burgers are delicious," smiled Kalin.

"They are." Radley was definitely impressed.

"I agree!" nodded Nico.

West was delighted too.

"We can come here as often as you guys like," said Crow.

"Yay!" West exclaimed. "Alright!"

"Awesome! Eating out together is the best!" cheered Leo.

"Yes! So much more fun!" Scotch gushed.

"I agree!" nodded Nico.

There were also side dishes like fries.

"When did this place open?" asked Nico.

"It's been here a while," Yusei said.

"The food is really good," smiled Nico.

"It sure is," Yusei smiled.

"Well, I'm stuffed!" said Carly.

"Me too!" Bruno said.

"That was satisfying," smiled Kalin.

"Oh yes," Radley said.

"What are we doing next?" asked West.

"Let's explore!" Scotch said.

"Sure, thing," nodded Kalin.

They all headed out and Scotch started down the street.

"Where do you guys want to go?" asked Carly.

"Anywhere! Cool places!" Scotch said.

"Cool places? Hmm, oh I know! How about a stroll through downtown!" said Carly.

"Yeah!" Scotch said.

"Yes, let's go," nodded Kalin.

Downtown had many stores and other interesting things. Scotch was hyped for exploring.

"What are you thinking of buying, Scotch?" asked Nico.

"Music or gaming stuff!" Scotch said.

"I wonder what the latest hits are?" asked West.

Scotch went into FYE. "Let's see!"

West and Nico also followed behind Scotch. They really wanted to know as well.

Scotch found merch from the new Pokemon games.

"Oh, Pokemon Violet and Scarlett stuff!" said Nico.

"Yes!" Scotch picked up a plush of the kitty.

"Hey! it's the Grass Cat, Sprigatito!" said West.

"He's so cute!" Scotch said. "And here's the bread dog!"

"Bread dog?" asked Nico.

"Fidough!" Scotch held it up.

"Oh, he looks adorable!" smiled Nico.

"I'm surprised Pokemon is still popular," remarked Akiza.

"Yeah!" Scotch said.

"It's cool that it is," Radley said.

"I'm going to get the Fire type!" said West.

"I want the cat," Luna said.

"I'll get the duck, Quaxly, is it?" said Nico.

"Yeah!" Scotch said.

"Some of the names are so cheesy," Virgil said.

"And some are worse in Japanese," Radley chuckled. "CharIzard is Lizardon."

"Lizardon? Are you serious? That's so lame," said Jack.

"I guess they were trying to combine lizard and dragon. But, in the end, it didn't turn out the way they wanted," chuckled Kalin.

"Yeah, I can't talk about that with a straight face," Radley laughed.

"Definitely not!" grinned Crow.

"Anyone else getting a Pokemon?" asked West.

Radley got an Eevee. Kalin wasn't sure what to get.

"You could get Umbreon!" Scotch said.

"Hmm, you're right," smiled Kalin as he picked one up.

Billy got Leafeon. Luna got Sylveon. Soon many of them had one or two.

"Are we good on Pokemon?" asked Kalin.

"Yeah!" Scotch said.

"Oh, by the way, I got you a Sprigatito, Bruno!" smiled Nico.

"Really? That's so nice of you!" Bruno smiled.

"You're very welcome!" smiled back Nico.

"Do you want anything, Yusei?" asked West.

"Hmm. Are these ... motorcycle animals?" Yusei started at the display.

"Yeah, they're the mascot of Scarlet and Violet," explained West.

"That's really weird but really cool," Yusei said.

"Do you want the red one, Koraidon?" asked West.

"And Jack should have the other one, Miraidon!" said West.

"You have to admit that's right up your alley," Radley smirked at Jack.

"Hmm, it does fit my style. Alright, you're on!" exclaimed Jack.

The new plushies were purchased too.

"Wow! We sure caught a lot of Pokemon today!" grinned West.

"Yes!" Scotch grinned.

"They're going to look great in our collections!" nodded Luna.

Scotch moved to look at games.

"The games' section?" asked Kalin.

"Did you think he wouldn't look there too?" Radley chuckled.

"No, not really," said Kalin.

West and Leo also wanted to check out the latest games.

Scotch decided to get a set of Mega Man games.

"Ooh, Mega Man?" asked Leo.

"Yeah! These have neat graphics! You can even play as other characters too in Mega Man 10!" Scotch said.

"That sounds really cool! I was always a fan of robots!" smiled Leo.

We can play together!" Scotch said.

"Yeah! I'll get a copy too!" grinned Leo.

"Yeah! Perfect!" Scotch gushed.

"How about you Yusei, Bruno?" asked Leo. "Are you going to get any games?"

"Maybe this racing game?" Yusei mused.

"What's it called?" asked Leo.

Yusei named a popular racing game.

"I'm not surprised you like racing games," said Kalin.

"Yeah, they're cool. Not as fun as the real thing, though," Yusei said.

"That's understandable," nodded Kalin.

"What do you think of racing games, Bruno?" asked West.

"I like them too," Bruno said. "Especially the really realistic ones!"

"We should get a car racing game!" said West.

"Yeah!" Scotch looked at the games.

"How about an F-1 game?" suggested West.

"Sure!" Scotch grabbed one.

"Are we satisfied with our choices?" asked Kalin.

Everyone was.

"Yeah! Let's go home and play some games!" smiled West.

They all checked out and headed out of the store.

"That was some nice shopping. Maybe we should get some lunch," said Crow as he checked the time.

"Yes! Food!" Scotch said.

"Yeah, I'm starving!" smiled Leo.

"Ok, what shall we eat?" asked Akiza.

"Buffet!" Scotch said.

Everyone else agreed.

As they were heading there, a strange cloud opened in the sky. And people were falling out.

"Huh? What's happening to the sky?" asked Luna as she pointed upwards.

"Something's opening!" Yusei realized.

"What is that thing? A hole in the sky?" gasped Jack.

"Look! People are falling out of the hole!" exclaimed Leo.
