Hive City Vacuo M41
Gunfire echoed outside as Yang Xaio Long and the rest of her squad were held up in an apartment room. Her sister Ruby Rose turned to her and asked, "How much do you bet that I killed more of those things than you?"
"Excuse me?" asked Yang. "Are you saying that you have a higher kill count than me?"
"Well, yes." Said Ruby
Yang held up her lasgun. "Well I have lastastic accuracy."
Ruby giggled, "So do I." as she held up her lasgun.
"Touché." Replied Yang
Their squad leader, Weiss Schnee, ordered "Silence." As she turned her head she demanded "Neptune what are you doing?"
The blue hair soldier was admiring his reflection in a mirror as he replied "Just making sure my hair looks good."
"Neptune we are in a warzone." Replied the squad leader with anger in her voice.
"I know Sargent, but I just want to make sure I look good when I die." Replied Neptune
"Just help Sun with look out." Said Weiss as she turned to the blond abhuman standing by the window. "Sun do you have anything to report?"
"Its all A okay." Replied Sun holding out a thumbs up. Weiss groaned as she returned to the side of her second in command.
"Blake." Asked Wiess "Do you think its time?"
Her second on command turned and replied "Maybe."
Yang and Ruby's session of counting their kills was interrupted by a loud boom in the distance. As the ground shook beneath them, Yang wondered if this was a start of a bombing run. But no other explosion was heard. As she and Ruby stood up with their lasguns in hand, Sun yelled, "Sargent Schnee."
"Yes?" asked the Sargent
"Infected are pouring into the streets." Said Sun
"And they are on the roof too." Said Schnee. "Yang and Rose deal with them before they get into the building."
"How did you?" began to ask Yang as she was interrupted by Weiss saying "I just do. Go and do as you are ordered soldier." The sisters stared at each other for a second, then left to do their duty.
Yang and her sister crutched behind a few crates on top of an apartment building. They were firing their lasguns at men that were not men anymore; they didn't walk men, they didn't smell like men, they smelled like corpses. There were 20 of these "men," and they were walking towards Ruby and Yang. Ruby saw a gas canister and shot at it. Causing the canister to erupt into a ball of flame immobilizing and burning 8 of them. Yang took out the ones that couldn't move and the two sisters high fived each other.
At that moment Yang felt strong, tender fingers touch her soul, they didn't feel malevolent, they didn't feel like they were hurting her, they felt strong. She felt them inviting her to something to join something. But before she could feel what that invitation was, a hand laid on her shoulder. It didn't feel like a real hand, but the presence of one. That allowed her to think for a split second and Yang realized the tendrils felt rigged, jaded, and strong. She felt the tendrils hurt her and then she felt the invitation. It was to become the champion of the tendrils, to fight for it. To abandon all she knew and loved to serve it, to abandon the imperium and the emperor himself. Yang's eyes became awakened, she saw the sky bleed rivers of blood, that her feet laid on skulls, and that from the moon fell femurs that broke into a million pieces on impact. In the distance Yang could see monsters that through their eyes had lost everything but rage. Yang knew, whether it be her awakened eyes or the tendrils, that those were the champions of the tendrils. So Yang whispered softly, "no."
Yang was ripped back to reality, gone were the bleeding skies, or the skulls she laid on. As the sisters' high five lingered for a second Yang felt Ruby's hand and they fell off. She looked for a word to describe the feeling and she found it, red. She couldn't describe the feeling of red without only red, but that is what her sister's hands felt like. As the sisters pulled back their hands Yang saw Ruby smiling brighter than she had in years. Ruby tossed her gun and grabbed an old scythe that lay beside them, probably an old tool from the previous residences of the building. Ruby jumped over the crates and at a speed, Yang could not believe, ran toward the "men" and in one swoop sliced 6 of them in half. The smell of maggots and rotten blood hit Yang's nose as sliced "men" hit the floor. Ruby continued at inhuman speed to slice the "men" and when they were all dealt with Ruby turned to Yang and said, "Look at what we can do now!"
Yang stood speckless, processing what she saw. Ruby lowered her bloody scythe and with concern in her face asked, "you weren't offered?"
"You accepted it?" asked Yang before she could think.
Ruby rosed her scythe and with her face replaced with rage said "of course Yang. I chose to embrace my inner self to kill monsters."
"you'll be come a monster." Yang responded as she detected the battery pack of her lasgun. "You abandoned everything you loved, you abandoned the emperor Ruby."
"The corpse?" Ruby asked "That man is dead Yang yet we pretend he isn't. We sacrifice a thousand a day pretending he isn't. My eyes were opened Yang, I saw the truth."
Yang, shocked at what her sister said replied, "well I did to ruby. I saw that its champions become-"
Ruby charged at her, but Yang pressed a button on the battery and threw it at Ruby. It glowed red hot just before it exploded. Causing ruby to flyback and lie unconscious. At least Yang hoped she was only unconscious. Yang bolted towards the doors that led to the stairwell in the building. Yang ran for the room in which the rest of her squad was when she and Ruby left. Yang was thinking of what happened and forming them into words to tell her squad what happened. Yang found the door and ran into the room and she saw Weiss talking with Blake. Right as Yang was about to say what happened, she noticed in the corner of her eyes a small piece of Sun's tail popped from the floorboards and lay limped. Yang knew that meant that part of the tail was dead but why try to hide it under a floorboard? Yang thought to herself. Unless it was to hide the body but who killed Sun? As Yang looked around the room seeing a few of her squad mates it dawned on her that she was in front of them
"What's wrong Yang?" asked Weiss. "Have they entered the building?"
But why would they kill him, Yang asked herself. If he was a traitor, they would have displayed the body to warn others of treason unless.
"Ruby," said Yang
"what happened?" asked Weiss
"she refused."
Weiss's concern turned into a grin and she said, "I knew I felt one of you refuse the offer."
"She went on how I was abandoning all I love or something like that." Yang said with a smile.
"I'm surprised either of you refused. I mean serving a god that is dedicated to killing would seem to be her thing."
"She said something about the emperor or what not." Yang said "You know the typical space brain worms that those imperials have."
"Wait yang, how did you know we weren't loyalists?"
"Lieutenant Schnee please do a better job of hiding a body. I can see Sun's tail from here."
As Weiss' face turned red, she turned to look at Coco and yelled, "Coco, put the tail under the floorboard."
Coco, annoyed, got up removed the floorboard and placed the tail under it. Yang saw the corpse of the Sun. She saw that he had ripped apart leaving only the bones intact.
"Wait why did you come here Yang?"
"I need someone to help me dispose of Ruby's body."
"Yang how did you kill your sister?" Asked Yang
As Yang's heart raced she responded with "I overcharged my battery and throw it at her."
Weiss muttered under her breath, "a recently imbued champion of Khorne." and paused for a few seconds and muttered "interesting."
Yang was darting her eyes to make sure the door behind her was still open and clear. Weiss said "Neptune help your friend."
Yang sighed relief knowing she managed to fool these traitors. Now she was wondering how to dispose of Neptune. Until she felt the barrel at the back of her head
"It turns out you were the one that refuse, Xaio Long. It matters not. Neptune-"
"wait," cried Blake as she approached Yang, "I've always liked this one."
As Blake walked up to Yang, she placed a finger on her forehead. As the finger touched Yang she felt to much being shoved together. Blake slid the finger down Yang's face and said I was just thinking." as Blake's finger slid down to Yang's chest plate "we could have some fun." As Blake touch her finger and laid it on her lip she said "we cut start with the slashes and as you bleed we could get into the fun stuff. Who knows if you survive you might embrace Slaanesh." Blake nodded to Neptune and he put down his rifle. Yang saw that behind Neptune was in the way, so she only had one option, a crazy one, but the only one.
Yang bolted past Blake. Left Right, Left Right, Yang thought to herself as she ran. Weiss yelled "Neptune, Shoot." "I was going to." replied Neptune but Yang jumped as she crashed the room's window. By a miracle Yang grasped the gap to the other apartment building. However, Yang missed the ledge she was aiming for and fell. Her right arm was against the wall trying to find another ledge, but her arm was being scrapped by the wall and as she felt her asking bing torn. It all came to a stop, Yang's arm had hit a ledge. Quickly she used her left arm to clime on the ledge. Yang proceeded to punch the window and unlock it from the inside.
Yang leaped into the dark room with her right arm dripping blood. She sat for a minute in the darkness thinking of what had just happened. Her squad just tried to kill her and seduce her. But her thoughts were interrupted as a bullet pierced the middle of the room and hit the floor. Yang realized that she couldn't stay here forever and a lucky shot might just end her.
Yang stood up and entered the hallway behind the door. Unsure of what she would find she was not expecting the bright lights. Yang was surprised this building still had power, but she quickly saw the higher quality decorations of the hall and realized this was a more affluent apartment. Yang spotted a strange figure who pointed a rifle at her. Yang with her arms in the air shouted "Trooper Yang Xiao Long of the 326th Remanent Infantry Division"
The figure approached Yang and lowered her rifle and pushed back the barrel causing it to become a sword "Hunter Neko Kols."
A scion Yang thought in her head. She was lucky indeed to find such an elite soldier to help her.
"Why are you here, trooper?" asked the huntress. "weren't you assigned the building next to us?
"Just trying to not to get murdered by my squad."
Neko raised her eyebrow and asked, "why were they trying to kill you?"
"because I wouldn't accept the offering of a guy named Khane."
"Khorne," Neko responded automatically. The two stared at each other before Yang ran across the hall as Neko lifted her hotshot Lasgun, aiming it. As Yang turned the corner a shot of laser tore through a ting bit of her hair. Yang kept running, not stopping for anything until she ran into a large man. As she crashed into the man she touched his hand for a second, and it fell normal.
"You're not a traitor" Yang exclaimed as she fell to the floor.
"Of Course not. Don't you see I'm a hunter." responded the man as the flash bangs on his belt moved side to side "Why would you even think of such a thing?"
Yang answered "well all night I've been chased by traitors and this huntress I just found was a traitor. Her name's Neo or something."
The man and his companion laughed. "Neko? A traitor? preposterous."
Before Yang could say anything she heard, "BLONDIE WHERE ARE YOU?"
"Speak of the devil," said the man. As Neko came around the corner the Hunter said "Hey Neko this trooper just accused you of being a traitor."
Neko shot the companion of the Hunter and said "so she already told you."
Shocked, the Hunter went for his holster pistol but Neko shot him in the arm, causing him to fall on the floor. Out of instinct Yang grabbed one of the flash bangs on the Hunters belts and ran around another corner.
"Hey Yang just come out and I'll make it quick." Said Neko as she followed the blood trail left by Yang. As Neko's steps march closer to Yang, Yang pulled the pin of the flash bang and threw it around the corner. Neko screamed signaling that Yang's plan had worked. Yang charged around the corner and punched the staggered Neko with her left fist, causing her to fall. But Yang didn't stop there and punched the downed Neko's face again and again. The blood began to cover her left fist, but she didn't stop. She kept punching Neko's face. When Neko stopped breathing, Yang continued to punch her.
After her fist became too sore, she stopped and walked over to the Hunter and helped him up. "Thanks Trooper." said the Huntsman. "I've got a taurox at the bottom floor. We'll take it back to command, and I think you got yourself a promotion."
Yang just kept helping the Hunter walk down to the first level, saying nothing.
