Summary:

One shots of a little idea I had. Won't be a fully-fledged story; but will include major scenes from season 3 of Stranger Things. During Lion 4: Alternate Ending, when Steven kicked that piece of garbage, he found not the tape dedicated to Nora, but an ancient Gem artifact that sends him to another world. How will the Stranger Things characters respond to a happy-go-lucky half-rock-alien kid in the midst of an identity crisis trying to help them through the Mind Flayer's return?

Indeed, 1985 is going to be the summer of L-o-o-o-ove...

"Where are your parents, kid? You lost or somethin'?" Hopper asked. Steven flinched at the 's' in 'parents'. "Yeah, I think so. Where am I?" Steven replied, ignoring the question about family. "Hawkins," Hopper said. "Hawkins, Indiana."

"Whoa. I'm a long way from home," Steven said, remembering the geography classes he'd been given by Pearl, who'd started homeschooling him after he'd first given her the idea right before the whole incident with Lapis stealing the ocean.

Hopper raised an eyebrow at Steven's statement. "Where're you from, kid?"

"Beach City, Delmarva," Steven answered. Both of Hopper's eyebrows had now raised. "There's…no state called Delmarva, kid. You sure you don't mean a county or something?"

Steven's eyes widened. Oh no. No Delmarva? There couldn't just not be a Delmarva! Oh, he knew he shouldn't have touched that globe thing! It really was just like the hourglass! Only it'd sent him to another world instead of another time! The globe shape should have told him everything he needed to know, for stars' sakes!

"Whoa, whoa! Kid, calm down!" Hopper said, noticing Steven was starting to hyperventilate.

"What year is it?" Steven asked in panic. Hopper's brows now furrowed in confusion. "1985, kid. Listen, are you okay? Do you need help, or something?"

Steven's own hopelessness calmed him, and he looked down at the carpet in defeat. "You wouldn't be able to help me," he said dejectedly. "No?" Hopper challenged. "Try me."

"I'm from another universe," Steven said simply, knowing the man wouldn't believe him. Indeed, Hopper just blinked once, before calmly asking "What?" in a tone that suggested he thought he was talking to a much younger child. Steven sighed, before getting an idea. He whipped his phone out of his pocket and showed it to Hopper. He knew for a fact they didn't have these in this time period.

Hopper's eyes widened, and he gently took the object from Steven's hands. "What's this?" He asked. His fingers brushed the screen, which lit up in response, displaying the phone's Lock Screen, which depicted Amethyst giving him a noogie.

His eyes widened at both the tech and the purple being on the screen. Steven perked up a bit. "That's what phones are like where I come from. Portable, with a screen that responds to your touch."

Hopper looked fascinated, turning the object over in his hands. It eventually ended up right-side-up again, with the screen once more lit with Steven and Amethyst's smiling faces.

Hopper continued to stare down at the screen in wonder, his eyes lit up like a child seeing a fully-lit Christmas tree for the first time. A moment of silence passed, before Steven tapped Hopper's shoulder to get his attention.

His eyes snapped off the screen, like he'd been broken out of a trance. "Y-yeah, kid?" He stammered. Steven pointed at the screen. "That's Amethyst," he said. "Amethyst?" Hopper asked. "Yeah. She's a Gem, like me," Steven said. "Or, well, I'm only half-Gem but… you get the point," he said, lifting up the hem of his shirt to show off the bright pink Rose Quartz embedded into his stomach where a navel would have been otherwise.

"Holy shhh-crap," Hopper muttered, preventing the curse word he had been about to say from slipping out at the last second. He moved his head about, checking the gemstone out from every angle. He hesitantly reached out a finger, looking up at Steven in a silent confirmation of permission, and when he received it with a nod, gently traced his finger around the edge of the stone, where it seamlessly met Steven's skin.

The gentle, fatherly touch reminded Steven of the way his own father would often trace his Gem when he was younger and woke up from a nightmare or the like inside the van. Steven's Gem was pretty sensitive, and while it could be a double-edged sword, it felt nice when gently touched, comforting in much the same way as Pearl's fingers running soothingly through his hair, which also usually happened after nightmares.

Hopper drew his hand back and stroked his beard in deep thought for a few moments, staring at Steven's Gem in deep thought until the boy's shirt dropped over it once more, snapping Hopper out of his thoughts.

The man sighed. "Kid, I… I don't understand what's goin' on here."

Steven smiled softly and chuckled as he motioned for Hopper to make himself more comfortable.

"It's a bit of a long story…" he began.

"I'm part-Gem!" Steven said, pulling up the hem of his shirt to reveal the sparkling Rose Quartz embedded in his stomach. A chorus of 'whoa''s and 'what the hell's' echoed from the group of teens as they crowded around to look at the Gemstone in Steven's stomach. "Cool!" Dustin exclaimed. "Is that a real Rose Quartz?" He asked excitedly. Steven smirked. "Sure is!" He said.

"What do you mean by 'part-Gem', though, exactly?" Asked Mike. "Well, Gems are alien beings that are pretty much just living gemstones; hence the name. They can project physical forms made of hard light."

"What," Max deadpanned. "It's like a solid hologram," Steven clarified. "No, I mean the part about living rocks," Max said. "Oh. Well, I know it sounds weird, but it's the truth. Gems don't form the way normal rocks do. They absorb the life from the ground around them."

The kids now looked vaguely unsettled. "The Gems come from Homeworld. The empire's led by the Diamonds, the most powerful Gems of all." Ignoring the urge to wince that came up when he remembered what he'd recently learned about what his mom had done to Pink Diamond, he continued. "Since Gems take up all the life around them to form, it leaves the planets they emerged from lifeless and barren. They wanted to do that to Earth, too, until my mom, Rose Quartz, formed a rebel group called the Crystal Gems and drove them off the planet. They used one last attack before they left, though, and it turned all other Gems on the planet except for mom, Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl, thanks to my mom's shield, which you just saw when I protected you from Dustin's hairspray, into these mindless monsters. Then, years later, my mom met my dad, and they had me, but, since I'd be half-Human, half-Gem, I'd need a Gem. So my mom gave up her physical form to pass her Gemstone on to me, which is why I have her powers, like the shield. Nowadays, me, Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl fight to keep the Earth safe from Homeworld and the corrupted Gem monsters."

The other kids now looked speechless. "Well… damn…" Mike said slowly. "That's... uh..."

Max was pinching the bridge of her nose. "So you mean to tell me," she began. "That you're a half-Human, half-magical sentient space-rock hybrid that lives with full-on magic space-rocks and protects Earth-a different one than ours-from a planet full of other space-rocks and evil magic space-rock monsters."

"Yeah, pretty much," Steven said with a proud shrug. "You know that sounds like complete and utter bullshit, right?" She asked. "Yeah; I get that. Sometimes I can't believe it myself," Steven replied, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.

Max was staring at him tiredly. Eventually she looked downward and pinched the bridge of her nose again, saying "Jesus, could my life get any more ridiculous?"

Dustin was practically bouncing up and down in his seat; and was giggling like a toddler who'd had too much candy. "You. Are. A magical half-alien, half-Human hybrid with a ton of superpowers. Specifically, a magic rock alien. Awe. Some."
