A new witch in a strange world
Note: This story is based on an AU where Cassie Blake was born in another dimension (modelled on the Boiling Isles) and raised on Earth. It will be narrated from her perspective.
I don't know what happened with my mom or why she suddenly hung up the call early. I managed to fix the flat tyre on my own and began driving back home.
As I approached the neighbourhood, I saw something was amiss. There was a thick black column of smoke and a fire in the distance. I raced towards the fire and discovered the family house was ablaze. I dashed out of the car and ran up to the house. Just as I approached the remains of the front door, I could feel myself being yanked backwards and I blacked out.
I don't remember much after that event, because some hours later I woke up and realised I am no longer on Earth. Looking up at the sky, I saw it was a horrid shade of pink and the buildings around me were all weird looking. I took a closer look at my surroundings and realised that I am in some sort of marketplace. I tried to move, but realised I am stuck. I then looked down and realised that I am sitting on a stool with my hands and legs tied up.
"Well look who we have here, the fabled witch Cassie Blake" said a female voice as a strange woman approached me. She wore a red dress and had long flowing white hair.
"Untie me this instance!" I yelled out. "I don't know what the hell you have done to me or my mom, but you better take me back to my world!"
"It's no use struggling my dear girl. You are the last piece of the puzzle in my quest for power," replied the woman as she brought out her staff.
Suddenly I saw some guards come up to the market stall. "Dawn Chamberlain, you are under arrest for misuse of magic!" shouted one of them.
I breathed a sigh of relief. I was finally about to be released.
My relief didn't last long, because this woman attempted to run off and grabbed me before she fled. The woman untied me before grabbing her staff, which seemed to have an owl attached to it. She dragged me onto her staff and whisked the two of us away. We were soon flying in the air.
"Listen here young witch, I will take care of you and teach you how to succeed in the Mystic Realm. But you have to listen to me," said Dawn.
"What makes you think I'm a witch? I'm just a human who you kidnapped from my dear mother. I bet you're the one who killed her," I replied.
"Look Cassie, there are many things you don't know about. I'll explain when we get back to my house," Dawn answered.
After flying on this strange owl-like staff for some time, the two of us landed on the ground. I looked around and saw a rather strange looking house. It had a curved roof and a large circular glass window that looked like a giant eyeball. Dawn led me to the front door, which had another owl-like creature attached to it.
"Hoot! Hoot! Password please!" said the owl creature on the door.
Dawn just poked the creature in the eyes as she spoke up "Listen Hooty, I don't have time for this. Just let us inside."
"Aw, you're no fun anymore darling Dawn" answered Hooty as he reluctantly opened the door for the two of us to enter.
After entering the house, I looked around the main living room and saw a large poster saying 'WANTED: Owl Lady. Reward $10,000.' Looking closely, I discovered it had a picture of the same woman who had captured me. I was horrified that I was now in the company of a criminal.
"So, Cassie - I bet you have many questions for me," said Dawn.
I was still angry for being kidnapped from my world and shouted out "There's no way I want to speak with a wanted criminal," before proceeding to spit at Dawn.
"Wanted criminal? That's a big accusation," replied Dawn.
"Well look at that poster over there," I answered.
"Oh, that thing. That's just the hunters trying to capture me for being a weirdo. Nothing to be concerned about young witch."
I was trembling and got up out of the sofa I was sitting in. I then tried to run towards to the front door, but found the path blocked by a teenage girl. She was a brunette wearing a purple tunic and leggings, with a black hooded cloak. I had a closer look at her face, and found she had pointy ears.
"Going somewhere little witch?" the girl asked.
"Just let me go!" I shouted. "I don't belong here in this wretched place."
The older woman called out "Ok Faye, that's enough for now."
"But mom, she was trying to escape." Faye replied.
"Don't worry daughter, I can handle her." Dawn answered.
"Wait, you two are witches." I speak up.
"Well, what did you think we were?" Faye asked sarcastically.
"I just got here, but from what I see you two are bad ass criminals who not only kidnapped me but possibly killed my mom!"
"Cassie my dear, let me tell you that you were actually born in this world." Dawn announced.
I was shocked and speechless. Faye followed up by saying "As my mom just said you are a full-blooded, 100% witch."
"This is crazy!" I screamed as I again tried to run away from these two criminal witches.
"Don't try to deny it, you know it's true," Faye said as she restrained me.
"Look Cassie, this whole witch drama will take some time to get used to. In the meantime, why don't I teach you how to use your magic powers?" Dawn spoke up.
I was still furious having been taken from my home. I replied "There's no way I'm learning magic from a criminal. Don't you lot have a school I can go to instead?"
I saw Faye was intrigued with my comments and answered "Well Cassie, there is a school that I attend called Hexside. Why don't I show you around there?"
Faye could tell I was still hesitant, so she nudged me and added "If it makes you feel better, I also lead a small coven of young witches. I'm sure they would be delighted to meet a new witch."
"Ok fine," I replied stubbornly. "I will go with you to whatever lame ass school that you normally attend."
