Day One

An array of dark green pine trees pass by, a straight line of dark greenery. If he focused hard enough, he would be able to see his own dark blue eyes staring back at him through his reflection from the car window. He had been staring out the window for about an hour now, still not fully content with the fact that, for the next few weeks, he would be staying here.
To add on to his dread, in between the rows or dark greenery, came an open area. Large wooden beams paired meters apart with a sign hanging from underneath a log that read 'Camp Kimetsu' in dark red paint. The entrance seemed as though it was inspired from an old Japan style as the roof where the sign was hanging from resembled Minka roofs. He felt car slow to a stop and Giyu closed his eyes, It seemed they had finally arrived.
"Alright, we're here Giyu, are you ready to leave?" His elder sister asked, only reminding Giyu of his reason for coming here. He blew air through his nose and didn't turn around, giving his sister the cold shoulder. He heard his sister tap her fingers on the steering wheel, and release a small sigh.
"I know you didn't ask for this Giyu," she started softly, before turning her tone hopeful. "But, it'll be a chance for a new fun experience! You can make new friends here and, well honestly, being outside of the house is a good thing! Now you won't be cooped up in your room all day," He scoffed in annoyance at that. It was summer break and he was sent here instead of being allowed to stay home, this was torture in comparison. It was silent for a bit before he felt her hand start to caress the top of his head, fingers swimming through his rough shaggy hair. He hated that it actually comforted him a bit.
"I don't want to make new friends, Sabito was my best friend..." he said, the familiar gloom enveloping him as he thought about his best and only real friend.
"I get that but... you know he's very sick and can't hang out with you this summer," she explained. Giyu was very aware that Sabito was fighting a terrible illness, but how could he possibly have fun when his friend was stuck in the hospital for a whole summer? It just wasn't fair, plus he knew he wasn't going to have fun in the outdoors of all places.
"I'd rather be there for him than here at least," he said half-heartedly. She paused at that for a bit.
"I'm sorry for this Giyu, but it won't be bad," she said as she hugged him close to her, fingers weaving through his dark locks and rubbing in and out of a circular motion.
"I know that's what you wanted but, it's not healthy for you to be in a hospital room or indoors all summer, this is what Sabito wanted you to have as well. You remember him telling you that don't you?" He stilled at that, he did remember but it didn't make him feel any better. Still... if this is what Sabito really wanted, he'd give it a try since it was his wishes. He wasn't gonna be able to get out of this anyway...
His response came out as a muffled 'okay'. He hugged his older sister.
"Thank you...now," She immediately latched him off of her by his shoulders, "off you go!" The car unlocked with a beep. He sighed out from his mouth and hopped out the car, backpack strapped and wincing lightly from the bright sunlight flashing his eyes.
"Get out there and have fun! You have everything right?" She asked. He shook his backpack a bit and patted his pockets. Phone and pencils, check.
"Yes."
"Great! Now... if anything does happen, you make sure to give me a call, okay?" She said, an unmistakable hint of worry in her voice. He nodded.
"Right well... stay safe, but have fun too!" she settled. Giyu nodded weakly and started waving off.
"Bye Giyuuu, make sure to enjoy it!!" She said cheerfully. He smiled a bit.
"I'll try Tsutako," he said. He stood there alone in the sand as the figure of the car got smaller and smaller before eventually fading off in the distance. He sighs and turns to the looming campsite ahead of him. He was suddenly very conscious of the fact that it was just going to be him now... all alone.
"Camp Kimetsu huh..." he says to himself as he trudges on ahead. For some reason, he was feeling kind of hopeful.
--
The feeling of hope disappeared almost immediately when the loneliness began to really settle in. He swallowed a nervous gulp, it was just him and his backpack from here on out.
'Camp Kimetsu' was the title, and it looked as though it was painted rather hastily. Some of the paint seeped from the letters but it was legible enough. Really though, they should've gone for a different color choice in his opinion. The likely previous vibrant red color had faded to an almost maroon-like color and resembled blood more than anything. It didn't help that it was also particularly cloudy as well.
As he walked through the tunnel-like entrance, he hears someone talking, two people actually. He looks up to see two white-haired guys talking to each other. The one showing his back to Giyu has his hair tied into a ponytail. From what Giyu can make out, he's very tall and well-built. Giyu's never been the muscular type but he was suddenly feeling a bit self-conscious about his arms, and body. The man he was talking to carried a rather stern glare along with uncared hair that pointed out all over the place aside from two small tufts sticking out to cover the center of his forehead.
Giyu wonders if they are related somehow, it's not everyday you see two people with natural white hair after all. Usually only the elderly are the ones you see with that kind of hair.
"I'm telling you, I have signed up for this place! My name is Tengen Uzui!" He said pointing his thumb to himself.
"Listen, I checked all the campers here this morning on my computer. I have all the names written here on this paper and you're name isn't on the list," he said, taking the paper out from his clipboard and shoving it to his face. Giyu felt sorry for the other man, his parents must've either forgotten or submitted it too late or something...
"I keep telling you, I have signed up!" This Uzui guy said, getting closer to the other man's face. Giyu noticed he was wearing an odd headband with shining rocks hanging from the edges.
"You keep saying that, but your name is nowhere on here. When did you register anyway?" He says harshly. It seems as though they have been bickering back and forth for a while now.
"Well, I grabbed a slip of paper and filled it out a few minutes ago!" He declares obviously, pulling out a crumbled paper and showing it to his face. Can you even register last second?
A long pause passes before he speaks again, a dark shadow over his eyes and veins popping from the sides of his head. Giyu looks to the side even though the glare wasn't directed at him.
"So... you mean to tell me that you had this all this time and you're just showing it to me now...?" His voice came out strained, clearly indicating he was forcing himself back. If it wasn't from his tightened voice, it was from the way he gripping the poor clipboard in his hand. Giyu swears he saw cracks beginning to form.
"Yup!" He said, patting the paper twice, apparently unaware of the other man's inner turmoil. Giyu wondered if he was an idiot. He's shaking a bit just out of sheer anger and mumbling to himself. Giyu takes a small step back as a precaution, instinct told him to not be within the man's crossfire. The man looks up, a dark scowl on his face but releases a loud sigh.
"Alright, you're in. Cabin 2," he said gravely. The Uzui guy flashes a smile and a thumbs up before picking up his duffel bags and walking past him.
"Thank you kind sir!" He says to him but he doesn't respond. Giyu tentatively takes a step forward, now unsure about his safety being near this man.
"Name?" He asks. Giyu fidgets around a bit.
"G-Gomioka Tiyu? -Ah! I mean, T-Tomioka Giyu..." He says hopelessly, blushing at the fact that he saud his own name wrong. He's also suddenly doubting the fact that his name is even on the list, even though they checked this morning. His heart beats fast as he sees the man's eyes scan through paper before going abruptly still.
"Alright Giyu, Cabin 2," he says, nodding at him. Giyu dumbly nods back and walks past him, following Uzui. He breathes a huge sigh of relief but grimaces a bit when it dawns on him that this guy is going to be his cabin partner. Well, maybe he's friendly and just a bit dumb? The man ahead suddenly stops and turns around, raising a brow at him and Giyu stiffens, did he say that aloud?
"You in Cabin 2?" He asks sharply. Giyu nods hastily and a grin breaks out on Tengen's face. He drops his bags on the ground and places his knuckles on his hips as he stands in front of Giyu.
"Alright! Guess we're roommates! What's your name?" He asks, waiting for Giyu to walk up to him. Giyu gulps.
"To-Tomioka Giyu, your name's Tengen Uzui right?" Giyu asked for clarity. He really needs to stop stuttering so much... Tengen nods and grins proudly.
"Campfire God Tengen Uzui to be exact but that's me alright! Guess I'm pretty much a celebrity now if you know me already though, hahaha!" His laugh is painfully boisterous and the gems on his headband jingle and cling wildly. Giyu blinks at him.
'Actually I just heard your name earlier," Giyu thought, but he didn't say it outloud. He might be a bigger idiot than he thought...
"So what brings you here young Tomioka?" Giyu raises a brow at being called 'young' when they're likely around the same age but answers him nonetheless.
"My family... they wanted me to go to a summer camp instead of being indoors all summer," Giyu said, preferring to not really go into detail about the real reasons he was here. Tengen blew a raspberry and looked to the side which was actually pretty rude.
"Man seriously? You're here for a boring reason like that? So unflashy..." he complained, to which Giyu felt a tinge of annoyance. Like he was in any position to judge anyone.
"Fear not youngling! Because you're in luck as you are in the presence of a god!" He wraps his arm around Giyu's shoulder and waves a hand across their eyes slowly. Giyu had no idea what he's doing or what to make of this.
"A flashy one at that," he winked at him and he had to supress his urge to shudder. He releases him before crouching a bit to see him at an equal eye level.
"First things first young Tomioka, just from your looks alone I can tell that you are a beta male. But fear not! By the end of this summer I can... maybe guarantee that you will be an average male by the end of this!" He said, a hint of doubt in his voice. He felt offended. Also how you can you maybe a guarantee? Guaranteed means absolute.
"Second thing! Do you have a girlfriend?" He asked. Giyu looked to the side and tried to hide his frown.
"No..."
"Have you ever had one?" He frowned harder.
"...No,"
"...Do you like men?"
"That's..." He blushed a bit. This was pretty embarassing to talk about. He shook his head vehemently.
"Alright then, I shall make it my mission to see you get a girlfriend here! Whatever it takes!" He said, a fire burning fiercely in his eyes. Giyu swallowed the lump in his throat, he's wondering if he should call his sister despite it being the first day. He's pretty sure she wouldn't want him being around a lunatic.
"One more thing!" He said as he faced his head down dramatically, arms dropping to his sides. Giyu raised a brow.
"I... call dibs on top bunk!" He blurted out hastily before rushing towards the cabin. Giyu was stunned but shook his head at his antics. At least it wasn't another weird personal question. He didn't really care which bunk would be his, as long as he had a bed to sleep in he'd be fine.
--
He walked up the small old wooden staircase before stopping at the now open door leading to the inside of the cabin. He saw Uzui rummaging around inside, putting things here and there and opening drawers. Giyu took a small breathe before walking inside, which turned out to be a bad idea because he inhaled some old wooden dust. Atleast it wasn't harmless... right?
The inside... looked cozy at the very least. The old wooden floor creaked beneath them and the sunlight poured in from the one window they had on the left, it very clearly revealed the dust particles that settled in the room as it floated about in the open space freely. There was one set of bunk beds on the right side of the wall and the drawers were located on the left. He placed his backpack on the springy mattress and glanced around, noticing all the small cracks and scratches littered across the lodged walls. The cabin was clearly run-down but it held a pretty quaint feeling to Giyu, it could've been worse.
He zipped open his backpack and began taking out bundles of folded clothes as well as his bag of bath accessories. He set them atop his drawer before pulling out a phone charger and new sketchbook with pencils. He smiled a bit and placed them inside the bottom drawer.
"You draw?" He heard Uzui ask behind him. He nodded without turning around, hopefully he wouldn't be like everyone else and ask him to show him some drawings.
"An artist huh? Are you good at it?" He asked. Giyu's immediate thought was to say no, but there were multiple times where people complimented his artistic abilities, he never believed it himself though.
"...I wouldn't say good but, I wouldn't say terrible either," he said as he organized his things in his respective spot. It seemed as though he wasn't going to ask which was very relieving for Giyu. Uzui looked to the side as he swung his legs off the edge of his top bunk. He closed his eyes and appeared to be in thought for a moment.
"Do you sleep early?" He asked. Giyu stopped his movements for a bit at the unexpected question but responded nonetheless.
"I do not know what early is considered to you, but I try to not to stay awake past midnight," Giyu replied honestly. He hummed at that.
"Midnight hmm..." he mumbled something under his breath and Giyu was going to ask what he said-
"ALRIGHT CAMPERS GET YOUR LAZY ASSES OUT HERE! IT'S TIME FOR THE TOUR!" A voice boomed, cutting off conversation between him and Uzui.
"Guess that's our cue, man that counselor has some serious anger issues," Uzui mumbled before hopping off his bunk and walking out. What Uzui said earlier still nagged at the back of Giyu's head but he decided he would let it go. It was probably nothing anyway. He closed his backpack and exited his cabin to where their counselor was calling for them.
--
Giyu sees a few more faces when he walks out, likely the rest of the campers. One of them is for some reason dressed in all black when it is like 90 degrees out, and another one who was currently conversating with Uzui looked like they had set their head ablaze. Looking closer, it was just his hair dyed red and yellow. He was also wearing a uniform similar to their counselor, which Giyu thought was kind of strange, the camp didn't provide any uniforms.
To his left was another pair walking out their cabin. They were nearly polar opposites, one held a smile on his face and he dressed silkily, royally. His hair was a light blonde with a splotch of red in the middle, he looked like some kind of prince. The other was dressed in what could pass off as dirty rags and pants three times his size. His face was littered with black lines and marks, it looked like some kind of disease. He looked sickly whereas the other looked pure and clean, it was pretty ironic.
"You there, Tomioka!" Giyu jumped at being called out so abruptly. He turned to see his counselor pointing at him. His face showed no remorse.
"Get in line with the rest of your fellow peers, I'm going to do a practice roll call before we head out on our tour. Douma!" He called out.
"Yes yes, I am Here, no need to sound so uptight sir~" The blonde said said in a cheerful tone. The counselor appeared disgusted but rolled his eyes and went back to his clipboard.
"Giyu!"
"H-here sir!" He blurted as he raised his hand. He nodded at him and scribbled in his clipboard.
"Gyutaro!" A sigh, and then a hand.
"Here," the voice matched the look, he sounded so raspy. Like he had been smoking all his life despite being around 13-15 years old.
"Iguro!"
"Hereee," came a bored tone. Giyu looked towards the kid dressed in all black. He then wondered if maybe this camp was for ill kids because this one had bandages around his face that covered his mouth.
"Kyojuro!" A hand shot up in the air.
"Here, Sir Shinazugawa!" Said an ecstatic voice. The counselor nodded.
"Last one, Uzui!" He barked with a scowl, likely remembering who that name belonged to. Giyu looked to his cabin mate.
"I am here," he said with a raised chin. He saw him take a deep breath before writing. He stopped and then grabbed the whistle hanging from his neck and blew into it very harshly, making everyone wince and cover their ears, except for Tengen.
"Alright campers! I will not tolerate any kind of horse play or shenanigans! You will be nothing short of respectful during the tour and be on your best behavior, is that understood?!" A chorus of sharp yes's were heard.
"Good," he blew his whistle one more time though not as harshly as before.
"Follow me, we'll first be checking out the woods, Natagumo Forest," the counselor before walking off. Giyu fidgeted with his sleeve a bit before following them. He spotted Tengen and opted to go hang out with him until he saw he was very immersed in a conversation with the flamehead. He panicked a bit but he supposed this is how it was going to be without Sabito. So he slowly started to hang back from everyone else and just followed them, paying attention to his surroundings rather than the conversations everyone else was having.
--
They all walked along a dirt path inside the forest, which was filled with tall pine trees and small flowers scattered across the terrain of grass, the wildlife consisting of small birds and squirrels. It was what Giyu expected but it was oddly dark inside the forest despite it being daytime. He wouldn't want to walk through here at night... to add on to his dislikes were the amount of insects and bugs that were crawling about. He had walked into about 4 spiderwebs already and swatted who knows how many mosquitoes away. He was also pretty sure he saw a hornets' nest at some point which was extremely concerning if he ended up being right.
"This is as deep as we'll go," the counselor as he turned around. "Past here would be where we start seeing some pretty dangerous creatures so take a good look around you before we head on back. And also keep in mind that should you ever get lost, just find this dirth path and follow it. It'll lead you to either the girls' camp or the guys' camp." A few kids perked up and started whispering upon the mention of girls. Douma raised his hand.
"Can we go visit the girls camp? Just to familiarize ourselves?" He asked innocently but assuming off the way his friend smirked at him, there were likely ulterior motives. Giyu just rolled his eyes.
"Not today, we already have planned that the girls will come to our camp when it starts getting late," the counselor explained. Giyu winced, that means the girls would have to be the ones walking through here at night...
"Hey, Giyu was it?" A boy asked as he walked up to him. It was that guy dressed as their counselor. He was about the same height and had pretty extreme-colored eyes. It was like staring at an owl that was lit on fire.
"Y-yes that's me... who are you again?" His smile widened at him.
"Kyojuro Rengoku! I'm the junior counselor for the guys camp and I wanted to know how you felt about Natagumo Forest!" he said as he clicked his pen. Giyu nodded but felt a little disheartened, he thought he was going to make a friend.
"...Too many bugs," he said, looking off to the side. He heard him scribble then pause for a long time. Did he leave?
"Anything else?" He asked.
"...A long walk," he scribbled once more.
"Right, thank you very much Tomioka! It wasn't much but it was straight to the point so thank you!" He nodded absentmindedly. He began to walk away but suddenly stopped.
"Hey! If you ever need something you can come and talk to me, I don't mind!" He said before walking away. Giyu wondered if he really meant that or if it was just a requirement for that position. Either way, Giyu wasn't the type of guy to go and initiate conversations with strangers.
--
The place they visited afterward was miles better than the last. There were these gorgeous lilac petals that came in shades of vibrant violet and brilliant blue. They were called Wisteria flowers and though they only bloom in Spring, for some reason they flourished in this certain area.
"All right pick up your jaws you virgins, you are guys right? Only women would be gawking at things like flowers," he said with a sneer. Giyu frowned and a few kids coughed in embarassment.
"Listen, It's a beautiful sight and I've seen a couple of you snag a few already," he stared pointedly at someone and Giyu wondered why someone would steal these flowers. "It also protects the camp too, yes really they do. The scent of Wisteria is poisonous to some creatures and even though I'm pretty sure its been explained to me multiple times, I can't remember why they are in bloom," he said. Giyu glanced around and continued to appreciate the sight of this area.
"I forgot do this in the Forest but, does anyone have any questions?" Two hands went up.
"Alright Douma what is it this time?" he asked. Douma coughed before speaking.
"May we please leave soon, this place is giving me and my friend some allergies..." his friend coughed for extra measure. The counselor sighed.
"I have medical reports of your guys' allergies and stuff. I'm sure I'd remember if two of my campers were allergic to Wisteria," he said as he flipped through papers. Giyu spared a glance at the kids coughing, they looked worried.
"Aw shit, how the hell did I miss this?!" He screamed loudly. One of his hands were shaking the clipboard fiercely while the other was pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Fuck... alright! We're headed back to camp regardless but I'll have Rengoku take them to the infirmary!" Some guys snickered and others, Giyu included, facepalmed. Once again, Giyu grew even more worried for his own safety at the camp.
The counselor began barking at everyone to keep up and was speed-walking back to camp via the way they came from. A kid bumped into him, the one dressed in all black.
"My bad... that is some counselor we have don't we?" he said. Up close, Giyu noticed he had two different colored eyes, green and yellow. Giyu shook his head.
"I'd disagree he did forget about two kids' allergies just now. He also seems to have a short temper," Giyu replied. The kid stared at him blankly before blinking at him. Was there something on his face?
"I know... I was being sarcastic," he drew out slowly. Giyu blinked multiple times before staring back ahead at the road. Suddenly his face and neck felt very hot.
"I-I see..." the kid beside him chuckled and Giyu wanted to die from embarassment. Why couldn't he talk to people like a normal person?
"I'm guessing you like to be alone like me, what's your name?" Giyu still needed a moment to gather himself.
"G-Giyu Tomioka," he said. He would find out his name would be Iguro Obanai. The two of them continued to walk with each other and occasionally one of them would talk, Iguro most of the time. It was probably just a means to pass the time, but Giyu was actually really glad to be talking to someone.
--
They exited the forest as Giyu made small convo with Obanai, he was really interested in snakes and playing video games. His taste in video games seemed to be really concerning though, he said most of his collection were rated M games that were heavily violent...
Their counselor leads them to a pier leading to a lake and honestly, Giyu is actually looking forward to this. He knows how to swim and even likes to do so in his free time. He listens intetly this time.
"Alright you shit stains," Has he been treating them worse throughout the day? "You better know how to swim because when there are some hot days like today, I'll be having you guys get in the water. Just don't be a god damn idiot and decide swim too far out where the sharks will maul you," The counselor said. Giyu wanting to impress Iguro, actually spoke up for once.
"Actually I don't think sharks live in this kind of water, what we'll probably have to look out for are probably eels and-" Giyu stopped when the counselor got really close in his face.
"Who. The Fuck. Asked? How about you swim out far enough so you can prove me wrong so bad smartass?!" He screamed harshly in his face as he picked up Giyu by the collar of his shirt. Giyu's concern for safety was at an all-time high and it was at this moment that he swore to never talk to him ever again. He shook his head so quickly his head nearly came off.
"Then keep your god damn mouth shut when I'm talking." He released him and Giyu took a large step away from him. He saw Iguro desperately trying to hold in his laugh and Giyu would've been embarassed beyond belief if his body wasn't currently still shaken.
"You guys won't be swimming today so that's all I have to show and tell you, moving on!" He yells before stomping over to the next destination. Giyu takes careful steps as Iguro smirks at him.
"I can't believe you really tried to talking back to the counselor, he has some serious anger issues!" Iguro says before laughing his head off. Knowing their counselor had anger issues beforehand would've been greatly appreciated, but Giyu supposed he should've figured sooner considering all the hints being thrown at him earlier.
They take a very few amount of steps before arriving at the campfire with 4 large tree logs surrounding it. The campfire wasn't lit but there were a few small logs near it, plus it was filled with burnable material. Coal was already filled inside but what caught Giyu's attention the most were the multiple bags of marshmellows near it.
"I think this place is self-explanatory but since most, if not, all of you are dumbasses, I'll have to explain anyway. This is the campfire area where we sit down after ceremonial days, examples being ones such as today, Orientation. Both camps will get together here and we'll eat some food and all that." A couple of guy's stomachs rumbled including Giyu's at the mention of food. It then dawned on them that they actually hadn't even eaten anything since they got here. The sickly kid raised his hand.
"So um, where is the cafeteria at?" He asked. The counselor blinked before facepalming loudly.
"Aw shit, I forgot to show you guys tha... well whatever, it's that building over there," The counselor said as he pointed to a building located behind some trees. It was actually pretty obvious to notice it when it was pointed out. The counselor looked to the side and... smiled? Giyu surely must've started to hallucinate from the lack of food, he can't be capable of smiling like that...
"Hey everyone!" Came a clear feminine voice. A woman dressed in a uniform exactly like Sanemi's was walking towards them with a couple of girls behind her. She looked like an angel, she was beautiful in Giyu's eyes and in just two words, sounded infinitely more caring than their counselor.
"I hope Sanemi has been treating you guys well! I know he can be quite serious at times," she said apologetically, it seems like she's very aware of how Sanemi is.
"Oi don't put all the blame on me! Some of the kids this year are acting like some real know-it-alls," He immediately glared at Giyu and he took a step back from the sheer ferocity behind it.
"Oh stop it, a sweet-looking boy like him wouldn't cause any trouble!" She said as she winked in Giyu's direction.
Giyu wanted her to be his counselor a million-billion times over than Sanemi.
"Whatever. Hey, girls! Sit down and wait patiently while me and Kanae here go get some plates of food for your lazy bums. You can open up the marshmellows too but don't eat em all," he said as he stood up, looking at Kanae expectantly. Giyu noticed the generous drop of profanity from him. The female counselor giggled at his antics and he glared at her weakly. Everyone sat down and started talking eagerly about the food they were about to eat. Giyu sat alone at the edge of one log and glanced around for Iguro, only to find him sitting with a girl with pink and green hair. Ah, he didn't know he had a girlfriend. Well, Giyu may be hopeless in those things, but knew well enough to not be a third wheel. He supposed he would be eating alone though, and that was fine too he supposed.
"Ara, excuse me. May I sit next to you?" A soft voice asked. He turned and bumped noses with the very close stranger and backed up instantly. She stared at him for his response but he found himself choked up, their faces could've been separated by a fingertip.
"A-a-ah uh, yes! Yes uhm, ahem. Uhh, you can," he said as he scooted towards the middle of the log. She sat down next to him and Giyu was hopelessly trying his best to not be awkward. He was severely failing.
"Thank you," was all she said before looking off into the direction of where the counselors went. Giyu mumbled an unnoticeable 'you're welcome' that even he wasn't able to hear. He looked down to the ground and fidgeted with his hands for a bit. He spared a quick glamce and noticed that her hair together with a butterfly hairpin which matched her attire, a pin that looked very similar to the counselor's. He got the distinct impression of a butterfly from her. A very... pretty one.
Giyu nearly fell to the ground when something heavy suddenly landed on his side, an arm wrapped around his shoulder and Giyu would've believed it was Tengen if the laugh coming into near his ear wasn't so high-pitched.
"Heyo! Can you scoot over a bit so I can sit next to my girlfriend?" A sickly sweet voice asked. Giyu turned and recognized him as one of the kids who was allergic to Wisteria. If he remembered correctly then his name was Douma. Giyu got a pretty bad feeling from him but it wasn't enough for him to deny him. He started getting up and felt a hand grasp his wrist, tightly.
"Douma, I'm not your girlfriend and..." she looked at Giyu in question.
"What's your name?" She asked politely. Giyu gulped.
"G-Giyu,"
"Ah! What a lovely name!" She said as she clasped her hands together and rested her cheek on them. Giyu could feel the anger rolling off from Douma and hadn't had the slightest clue on what he should do. Why is one saying they're together and the other isn't..?
"This is Giyu's seat so if you want to sit here you have to sit next to him, it's only fair," she said sweetly but the way she worded it sounded like a scolding. Giyu slowly turned around to see a smile on Douma's face, eyes crinkled and edges of his lips making wrinkles.
"Oh little butterfly, if that was the case then how come he scooted over for you?"
"Because I asked him beforehand, he could've denied me after all," she shot back, same smile plastered on her face only without the lines.
Douma remained still for a few moments before releasing Giyu, he hadn't even noticed he had stopped breathing altogether during the interaction. Why did he feel so tense?
"Alright alright, if you wanted to make a new friend then you should've just told me! ...Ah! Gyutaro are you going to eat that?" His voice soon immersed itself with the rest of the other voices, snapping Giyu's attention back to where he was at. A few kids had their plates and were enjoying themselves to some burgers and fries, smoke coming off of them and being visible in the night sky. His stomach started roaring and his mouth watered at the sight. He gulped looking at the delicious plates of food, and then he heard someone giggling beside him.
"Fufu, I take it that you are very hungry?" she said with a cupped hand over her mouth. Giyu scratched the back of his head, trying to think of something to say.
"I didn't eat all day," he mentally slapped himself for saying that of all things. Her face turned to one of slight shock.
"Oh! That can't be good, perhaps I'll share some of my portion with you," she said in thought. Giyu shook his hands in a 'No' manner.
"N-no no! I-it's fine! You don't need to do any of-" He stopped when a plate was given to her.
"Ah, thank you~!" She said politely. Giyu gulped at the sight of it. It was glistening and looked absolutely scrumptious, his stomach certainly agreed. Verbally too, judging from the way it started rumbling loudly as soon as he saw it.
"Yes yes, I hear you," she said in a joking manner. She picked up one fry and eyed Giyu from the side. Does she have natural violet-colored eyes? She turned to him and... held the fry in front of him?
"Open wide~" she said and Giyu blushed beet-red. Was she trying to feed him?? He put his hands up.
"I-It's fine I-" she placed it between his teeth and released her fingers, her smile stretching a bit wider.
"I hope that helps," she says as she looked down to his rumbling stomach before giggling a bit. She picked up another fry but ate it for herself this time. Giyu all but swallows the fry whole and is left in wonderment at what the hell has just transpired. Did-did he really just get fed like a baby right now??
"Oi, brat," Giyu's attention is immediately snapped to the plate held in front of him by... his counselor. He gratefully takes it from him and mumbles a silent thank you. His counselor scoffs before turning back around. He risks a glance at her and she giggles at him.
"Don't ask for more, you have a plate now!" She teases and Giyu keeps his head down while he eats. Despite being nearly starved, he had one question in mind. Who was she???
--
Giyu is stuffed to the brim when he finishes his meal, The girl next to him didn't end up finishing her portion so she gave the rest to Giyu, which he gladly complied to do. But now he was suffering the repercussions of being really full now. Sleep sounded nearly as good as the food now... if he made it to his bed waiting for him at the cabin. Everyone seemed to be satisfied as well and were now having light conversation with one another, even the counselors themselves. He saw others toasting their marshmellows and honestly... Giyu would have to pass.
Everyone seems to easily be able to talk with one another while he's here playing with his sleeves, he's too scared to even glance at her. He can't tell if she's trying to flirt with him or just being friendly, or that's just how she is with everyone. He's assuming the last one because the first two just seem unlikely, especially the first one. He doesn't even know why he considered that to actually be an option.
"You appear to be deep in thought Giyu, something on your mind?" She asks suddenly and Giyu slightly jolts, there was no warning. She's placing a marshmellow on a stick and he gulps before replying.
"Just... thinking is all" he says. She rests her chin on one hand as she stares at the fire.
"Hmm, I assume you're not much of a talker are you?" She asks. He nods his head, solidfying her assumption.
"Do you like to be alone most of the time?" She continues to ask and Giyu is unsure what to make of it.
"Yes, though there are some exceptions," he immediately thinks of Sabito and slightly frowns. She notices this and takes it the wrong way.
"Ah, am I making you uncomfortable?" She asks, almost sounding a bit hurt. His immediate thought is yes but it's rude and kind of false because while she is most definetely making him uncomfortable, it's not completely unpleasant??
"You're uncomfortable and comfortable, I'm not sure how to explain it..." He shuts his eyes, he doesn't usually talk this much.
"That's a bit complex to make out, don't you think?" She says with a small chuckle.
"It's... the truth."
"Hmm, how strange. I suppose I'll pull some answers out of you then," she asks as she looks to her counselor expectantly. Giyu doesn't know what she's talking about but he notices that both counselors are suddenly standing up.
"Alright campers, shut up, put the marshmellows down, and listen up! We're gonna play a game to help you all get to know each other. At the log where you're sitting, and you can't move now by the way, you have to remember 5 things from everyone! It can't be an obvious fact like their hair color or something, you actually have to talk to them! So if you have 6 people like you do over there, you have to remember 30 different facts total!" The log with 6 complained loudly but Uzui was the only who screamedat everyone to bring it on. It seems like he's a serious competitive kind of guy.
"Prize for this will be this card!" The female counselor says as she holds up a two-sided blue and pink card. A few students ask her what it is and she answers them with her charming smile.
"This card allows you to have a Free Day Off! Meaning you can do whatever you want for the day! That includes going to other camps!" She says with a wink. A lot of guys perk up at that but Giyu could care less, although...
"Alright! I hope you got the rules cause I sure as hell ain't explaining them again! You guys start... Now!!" Sanemi yells out and Giyu can't even process it because as soon as he finishes yelling, two small hands are placed on both of his shoulders and turning him to face the girl next to him.
"Favorite color?" She asks but Giyu can't hear all that well when his head is spinning and his eyes are only focusing on her pretty face and majestic eyes. Her violet... eyes...
"V-violet?" He blurts out, still not being able to process the question.
"Hm! Mine too. Favorite sport?" She asks and Giyu finally realizes that they're starting the game. He removes himself from her and reels back quickly.
"Ah- sorry! My favorite color is actually blue, I didn't really hear you that well and well umm my favorite sport is weird so I don't really have one but, maybe Tennis??" Giyu is rambling and he knows it, and Giyu never rambles. Not even with Sabito. She looks at him amused and shakes her head a bit.
"Hai, I got it, any hobbies?" She asks innocently, like he didn't just make himself a fool in front of her.
"Well, I like to draw..." hs says sheepishly.
"Oh! I'd like to see some of your drawings someday then!" She says in a voice that makes Giyu believe she really means it. He's not sure what to make of it.
"I also really like to swim," he adds. She hums at that.
"Anything you dislike?" She asks and it's an unexpected question that makes Giyu ponder. Something he dislikes...
"Loneliness," he says without too much thought, it was the first thing that came to mind. He looks back at her and she's smiling softly at him.
"You must not have a lot of friends then," she states. Giyu goes still and lets her words delve into his mind, trying to process what she said and wondering how he should take it. She's smiling at him so was it some kind of joke? Joke or not it did hit close to home, he only had one friend after all.
"Oh Giyu it was just a joke! No need to take it so seriously," she says when he went mute after hearing her comment. He half-closes his eyes.
"I see, guess I should ask some things about you then."
"Yep! That is how the game works after all-"
"How tall are you?" He asks bluntly. She's stopped herself and is in the midst of processing his question.
"I'm sorry I'm not sure I heard you quite well," Giyu tilted his head.
"I asked for your height, how tall are you?"
"4'11..."
"Hm, shorter than I thought," Giyu thinks nothing when he says it so when he looks at her again, he's confused to see why her face is slightly red with a frozen smile.
"This is why... you have no friends!" She says strained, like she's holding herself back. Giyu thinks she's just making the same joke again so he ignored it.
"Birthday?" He asks. She opens her eyes again and looks at him a bit sternly.
"February 24th," she says and Giyu hums at that. It's close to his.
"Favorite meal?"
"Ginger boiled down in soy sauce!" She says with her index finger pointed upward. She looks proud but Giyu can't help but feel that the dish sounds like it would taste awful.
"I see, favorite hobby," she smirks at him.
"Telling spooky ghost stories," she says, a mischevious aura surrounding her all of a sudden. Why does he feel he should be wary of that.
"How fitting," is his reply as she nods enthusiastically.
"Last one... what do you dislike?" He says albeit curiously, copying her question. So far she's a very... interesting person to say the least. She smiles at him again with that small upturned smile of hers.
"My Ex," and she dejectedly stares straight to Douma who is busily laughing away at whatever his friend is saying. Giyu feels a bit more awkward now, he's never really been one to discuss conversations where romance was involved. Though Sabito has been trying to.
"Was he...bad?" He finds himself asking, and the moment he does she looks back at him, pauses for a second, snickering before bursting out into a full-hearted laugh that is loud enough to make the rest of the campers turn to them in surprise. All the attention makes him panic slightly.
"Haha wow... that was really funny Giyu," she says when she calms a bit, still giggling helplessly and Giyu's face is beet-red, because his cabin mate Tengen glanced at him and gave him a nod with a thumbs up. He gets a sinking feeling that Tengen is going to talk about this as soon as he gets the chance. Giyu dreads it, he should avoid him.
"I haven't laughed that good in a while... thank you," she says and Giyu sees her smiling, only it's different. There's a certain glow to it and the form of it looks natural rather than the mechanical structure of mucles being used to make a smile. Seeing a genuine smile on her face, Giyu feels the ends of his own mouth feeling impulsed to mirror the action. Something about seeing her happy made him feel a certain way he could not describe, but it was a positive feeling. The female counselor walks up to them with a smile similar to the girl next to him, pen and clipboard in hand.
"You two seem to be hitting it off with each other quite well in my eyes! Have you learned 5 things about each other?" He's compelled to look at her for reassurance, only she's looking back right at him with a sure nod. They both easily state their 5 facts about each other and when they finish, she smiles widely at them before walking back to Sanemi.
"I believe we've secured our victory!" She says while nudging his elbow with her own. Giyu awkwardly nods his head to which she giggles at. There's something about her that Giyu can't quite understand...
"Excuse me everyone, but we have to announce our victors for the night!" Came a loud cheerful voice. Everyone looks up and Giyu can feel a few stares on him, it makes him feel very nervous all of a sudden.
"We also have to announce that this is the fastest record we've gotten for our orientation introduction, beating our previous record by nearly a whole minute." Sanemi announces with a bit of awe in his voice. Giyu doesn't miss the split-second side glance from him.
"The winners for tonight are... those two over there," Sanemi announces with little enthusiasm. "Everyone else, I would say better luck next time but the only next time would be next year. So too damn bad for y'all! Ahahaha!" he guffaws as Kanae shoves him lightly with a scoff before walking to Giyu again and handing him his prize.
"Congratulations you two! I hope you make the most out of these!" She says proudly as she hands them the cards. He puts it in his pocket before he's suddenly being nudged by her. He turns to see her smiling elegantly at him.
"Hey they only had two that's cheating!" Shouted Tengen enviously. Sanemi looked at him and smirked, oh boy...
"Rules are rules kid, and ya LOST." Sanemi greatly emphasized. Tengen's jaw hung open and he sat back down with a grumble. Giyu kind of felt bad for him, but he feels good knowing that he actually won at something.
"New record holders is quite impressive, wouldn't you agree?" She says as she raises her hand in the air in front of him. Giyu smiles back at her but also stares at her raised hand questionably.
"Are you going to leave me hanging? That's pretty rude you know," she teases playfully but Giyu still doesn't understand what she means.
"Hanging...? Off what?" He asks dumbly. She continues to stare at him until her face resembles a shocked expression.
"You've... never heard of a high five?!" She asks in mild disbelief. He nods slowly, he thinks Sabito has mentioned it at some point? She shakes her head a bit before reaching for his hand.
"Okay, you lift your arm up over your head and open your hand! No, make it flat," she says as she adjusts his arm and hand. Giyu blushed a bit, her hand is so small compared to his, it feels like a baby's hand...
"Good, keep it like that and then... *clap* that's how you do it!" She says cheerfully as she smacked his hand with her own. It feels weird, a barely noticeable sting lingers and he doesn't see the purpose of it.
"I don't... get it?" He asks. She looks at him with a confused smile.
"Whatever do you mean?"
"The... purpose? What's the point of it?" She stares and blinks at him.
"So hopeless..." she mutters quietly but Giyu hears it nonetheless.
"It means we did a good job Giyu, a small sort of celebration," she explains.
"I did...good?" She giggles.
"We did a good job silly! Don't try taking all the credit," she teases as she pokes his arm. He looks down at his hand, closing it and opening it before coming to a conclusion.
"Can we... try again?" He asks. It takes her a bit by surprise but she nods nonetheless. She raises her hand and *clap* only Giyu doesn't remove his hand and keeps it firmly placed over her own. She doesn't pull back either.
"Emm, you're supposed to remove your hand from mine remember?" She says. He looks at her eyes, a bit puzzled. She fidgets a bit under his gaze.
"Your hands are so small," he says bluntly. She smiles widely now but it makes Giyu a bit nervous, why was she smiling?
Slowly, she began intertwining their fingers. Giyu's eyes widen and this sensation feels completely different...
Ithurts so much more than before!
He tries removing his hand but she has his hand locked in a vice-like grip. He trying to remove her hand with his other one while simultaneously trying to pull his other one out, how can such a small girl be this strong? It dawns on him that maybe he's weaker than her...
"Ara~ perhaps you should refrain from saying whatever comes to your mind, it might help you make some friends who knows?" She says while giving him the impression that her statement was more so to harm him rather than help him. He begins to wince when she finally relieves him from her grip. He rubs his hand pathetically.
"Sorry if I've offended you in any way, it was not my intention," he meeks out. His hand still hurts and he does mean his apology to her. She doesn't respond and he wonders if he's squashed all relations with her already.
"Alright campers, we were being nice with your curfew today by extending it for two minutes since it was your first day. But if you think we're gonna slide another minute then you're wrong! Pick up your trash, throw it away, and head on over to your cabins to tuck in for the night! Hurry up now!" Sanemi yells over the many groans from the kids. He ignores all pleas of staying out for longer by threatening them with making them turn in for the next curfew a whole hour earlier than the usual. That shut them up rather quickly.
Giyu stands and picks up his plate before walking over to the trash can and throwing it away. He's a little disheartened that the girl stopped talking to him but he supposes this was just how things were going to be from now on. He's about to start walking towards his cabin when he feels someone tug on his shoulder. He turns around comes face to face with-
"Hey Douma, don't do anything!" Someone yells out.
"Awww relax babe! I just wanna meet your new friend~" Douma said in his signature cheerful tone. Giyu didn't know what business he wanted with him but his body felt like he should be alert anyway. He also noticed other kids were looking at him...
"...Hey," Giyu offered. Douma's sketchy smile widened further and Giyu glanced to the butterfly girl in question. She looked to the side.
"I'm aware enough that Shinobu and I aren't dating anymore, but it still hurts when I see her talking with another guy ya'know? Hahaha!" He pushes Giyu's shoulder rather roughly and he falls to the ground. Now everyone else had gathered around and were watching him.
"So I just wanna give you a one time message, so listen close!" The smile dropped and Douma bore a furious scowl. Eyes spread wide with a dark aura emanating from him.
"Stay away from her... Got it? You won't like what'll hapen if you don't!" He says with pure malice in his voice. Giyu gulps and doesn't even nod, just too frightened and wanting to go back to his cabin already.
"Oi oi! What's keepin ya'll? Hurry the hell up!" Sanemi yells out as he walks towards them.
Douma smiles at Giyu and praises him for being a good friend, somehow giving Giyu a bad taste from the word and making him shudder. Being called a good friend in a scenario like this certainly didn't like feel good... Douma walked away and the group started dispersing. Giyu stayed seated for a bit.
"Giyu? What did he say?" She asked as she ran up to him. In all honesty he forgot she was here. She looked worried, for what though, he didn't know. He gulped before answering.
"...It was nothing...goodnight!" He ushers out before turning on his heel and heading straight back to his cabin. He didn't look back, Douma sounded serious about hurting him...
--
He sighs when he arrives at his cabin, his counselor still shouting about making anyone not in their cabins run laps first thing in the morning. He opens his door and keeps a dead neutral stare when he sees Tengen doing push ups on the floor. Assuming from the counts he's making, Giyu assumes he's done 50 so far. He stands in the doorway until Tengen finally notices him. He's doing them right smack in the middle of the cabin.
"52, 53, 54 5- Oh hey Giyu!" He welcomes quickly before resuming his push ups. Well that didn't go as planned.
"Hey..." Giyu awkwardly mutters back, unsure what to do or say. Uzui was sprawled out and Giyu felt blocked from his bed. He tries horribly to maneuver his way to his bed, almost tripping over Uzui a numerous amount of times.
"Why are you doing push-ups this late at night?" Giyu finds himself asking as he jumps the rest of the way to his bed.
"61, 62, A strong body builds a strong mind! I couldn't do as many as I'd like during the day so I'm doing them now! 63, 64," Giyu begins to block out his counts at some point after 70. His body is feeling very tired from remembering all the walking he did tiday, and his bed was like a siren's song luring him to sleep. He also got pretty annoyed from Tengen's constant counting.
He face-plants on his pillow before turning over and staring out the window. The only thing he can see outside the window is the other cabin next to him, but it's better than seeing Tengen doing his absurd push-ups. Giyu's beginning to cancel out Tengen's voice as some much needed sleep is finally being given to him. He rests his eyes and his last thoughts are about today's events, the things he did, his sister dropping him off, new friends, and a certain butterfly girl. He frowns when an image of Douma appears... as well as the image of Sanemi in the hospital bed.
--
Tengen yawns as he stares at Giyu's pathetic sleeping form.
"Tsk, Oiii! wakey wakey!" Tengen says as he smacks Giyu's head. Giyu grumbles and groans, he was dreaming pretty peacefully about being back home and Sabito was healthy and well... only to be rudely awakened by Tengen in the cabin in the middle of the night.
"You liar... you slept before it was even 10:30." Tengen has the nerve to sound annoyed when he's the one who just woke him up during god knows what time. Giyu scoffs and remains in bed.
"What do you want? Also... what time is it?" Giyu grumbles, he hopes Tengen notices his irritation with him. If he did, he didn't care one bit.
"I'm here to do good on my word, and you seem to have actually gotten a headstart for me so I thank you!" Giyu doesn't have a clue about he was talking about. Giyu half-wonders if he's still dreaming.
"Don't remember huh? No worries, my promise to you was to make sure you would be able to get a girlfriend before our summer here is over!" He flashes a thumbs-up and Giyu is only getting more and more impressed with the energy Uzui has at whatever time of night it is. And... girlfriend?
"I don't have a girlf-" Tengen shushed him by placing two fingertips over his mouth.
"Obviously not! But you got the impossible part out the way, you managed to talk to a girl by yourself! But now here's where I come in, there's only 3 weeks to be spent here so I need to make sure she accepts you within that time. As a man of my word, I have a surefire strategy on you swooning her over!" Tengen rambles and Giyu is lost on what he's saying halfway.
"I know you like her, that much is clear. But we have one problem, that other guy is an obstacle. So you gotta pull out the big guns and risk everything if you want to have her!" He says passionately. Giyu assumes he's referring to Douma and even just thinking that name leaves him feeling a bit sour. He wonders why since he doesn't have any correlation with the girl anymore...
"I appreciate it but, I'm tired so tell me tomorrow..." he pulls the blankets up and tries to return to dreamland when the blankets are suddenly yanked from him and he's revealed to the cold air.
"Nuh-uh, can't do that my fledgling. You agreed to my promise remember?" He picked his nose and flicked his booger at Giyu, making him jump and hit his head on the upper bunk.
"Ahhh ouch... well you can put the blame on me then, also don't flick your boogers at me," Giyu said extremely bothered.
"Nope, we are doing this right now. Put on some warm clothes and let's head on out!" Tengen proclaimed loudly as opened the door. The cold night wind slipped in and it gave Giyu goosebumps. He was heavily contemplating whether he should call his sister to pick him up.
"Don't keep me waiting! If you do I'll have to side with Douma on getting with the girl you like!" Now Giyu is certain he didn't pertain any feelings for the girl but something about her and Douma just made him a but sick. They broke for a reason after all.
"Fine...you win," Giyu says as he starts putting thicker clothes over his current ones.
"Of course! I always win in the end!" Giyu wonders if he's still upset about losing to him at lunchtime. He can't believe he's actually sneaking out on the first day arriving... actually, now that thinks about, where are the headed?
"Where are we going anyway?" Giyu asks. Tengen turns to him and just stares at him like he's some sort of idiot.
"Where? Why, the Girls' Camp of course!"
--
It's freezing outside but Tengen seems unaffected as he's sneaking around the woods in just a T-shirt and sweats. Meanwhile Giyu is suffering despite having two shirts and a sweater. Why was the camp so cold even though it was summer??
"I gotta hand it to you, your taste in women is great. That girl you like definetely has some nice buns," Tengen comments, it's the first thing to be said between them as they head over to the other camp. The comment is so absurd that it causes Giyu to stumble and nearly eat dirt. He would've if Tengen hadn't been fast enough to grab the back of his hoodie before it happened. Is that what he first notices in a girl? He gives Uzui the stink eye on how he views women.
"Hey relax, you seem to have already claimed her so I'm not gonna butt in what's yours. I'm not that kind of guy." The fact that he can say these things with a straight face and remain neutral was mind-boggling. And for the record Giyu hasn't 'claimed' anyone, they were friends and even that was still heavily pushing it.
He decides to just ignore him before continuing ahead. Giyu wonders if the headache he has is coming from the lack of sleep or trying to figure out what kind of nonsense goes on inside that guys' head. He's leaning deeply towards the latter.
He shakes his head as he remembers exactly what they're doing here in the first place. They were sneaking over to the Girls' camp way past their curfew. If Giyu is right, the rulebook stated that anybody caught doing this kind of thing would be expelled immediately. Tsutako would literally kill him if he got expelled for something like this... Giyu gulps and is about to voice his concerns to Tengen about turning back right now and forget about it all. But then Tengen suddenly stops, halting Giyu with an open hand before slowly turning to him. He stares at Giyu with a serious expression that is void of emotion.
"We're here at the Girls' Camp," He says.
--
Tengen is sneaking past and ducking in between cabins like some sort of ninja and honestly, it's very impressive to watch. Despite being the loud boisterous guy he is, he's actually swiftly moving about more efficiently and silently than Giyu is. Not that Giyu wasn't being quiet, he's just moving at a remarkably slow pace compared to Tengen.
"Oi, Underling, pick up the pace will ya!?" Tengen shouts quietly and Giyu is fighting the urge to whisper an expletive at him.
Giyu's heart is pounding like crazy now, something about this whole ordeal feels...scandalous to put it lightly. What if they get caught? How would they ever explain themselves? What would his sister say?! Would she think her little brother was some kind of pervert?!
"...Oi, hey stop panicking, take a deep breathe," Tengen whispers and Giyu realizes that his body is shaking. He didn't know which was more surprising, the state of his body or the fact that Uzui was actually capable of giving good advice in situations like these. Though to be honest that kind of advice was something anyone was capable of giving, even him.
They're past all the cabins, Tengen actually peeks through the windows and looks through them. Something Giyu would never do. They're on the last cabin aside from the counsellor's and Tengen turns back to Giyu with a stern nod.
Giyu is panicking like crazy, it was cold outside and he was in a restricted area! He could kicked out of camp for this... He's seriously about to try and convince Uzui about backing out but his stomach drops when he raises his arm and starts knocking on the door way too loudly.
"T-Tengen you're knocking too loud!" Giyu whispers harshly. Tengen looks at him and shrugs. Doesn't he even care about the fact they are breaking the rules? Is he even thinking straight!?
"Actually, now that you mention it, this actually might be a pretty bad idea. Oh well, too late now," he continued knocking and Giyu feels as though he might pass out.
"Hey, before I forget. Let me give you some good luck in advance. Here," he says as he puts something soft in Giyu's hands, it looks like a flower? Like the ones they saw in that one forest but...
"U-Uzui why are you giving me-" Giyu starts but Tengen is...
gone...
--
He has to repeat is, Tengen is...
GONE.
He's all alone at the front steps of the cabin and his eyes are scanning the area for that white-haired bastard. His eyes stop to see said bastard hiding behind some trees with... a thumbs-up sticking out to the side... Giyu looks at him in complete hopelessness and desperation.
"Good luck young Tomioka!" He shouts with a grin before running off to the Guys' camp. There it is, his last beam of white hope diminished in the darkness. He's alone now, frozen to where he's standing and eyes widened as his brain is trying understand what the hell Uzui just did. It takes him too long to let it sink in and by the time it did, he should have really sprinted off Immediately, because the cabin door... had been unlocked.
*Click!*
Giyu had never heard such a terrifying sound before.
"W-wai-" his voice chokes as the door begins to creak open slowly. Giyu is replaying all of the events that led up to this moment, his life actually flashing before his eyes because it might as well be over now. He also finds himself praying that Tengen really did not just leave him here byhimself. He would come back right?!
Small white fingers grip the edge of the door... and all Giyu can hear is the sound of his own heartbeat echoing in his eardrums. The old wooden door that would soon reveal the end of him.
"Hmm... who's knocking on the door this late at night..." Giyu pales when he hears her voice.
"Hm?"
AN: First Demon Slayer Fanfic and I'm confident enough to say that I'm semi-proud of it. Summer camps have always sounded like a pretty fun concept to write about so I hope I was able to do it some justice. I hope to be more consistent with my updates in case there are some people who enjoy this story. If you are reading this then let me know what you think, feedback is always appreciated even if it's negative, to me atleast. Anyways, thanks for reading and see you in hopefully the next chapter.
