The Beginning
"I…well… I guess I'll start from the beginning… it will make sense.. I promise you" she says
"Wait, why are you telling me this now?" he asks
"It all started when you became captain…" she starts off
"It was when you first became captain, All of Gotei 13 heard about the child prodigy, you completed the academy in 1 year, and you had enough reitsu to become a captain, so when my captain left, the only spot open was for our squad. Now, I admit meeting you for the first time was something to behold of, the first time I saw you I thought you were a child who lost his way, but then I saw the captains haori and that's when I knew that you were the my new captain…"
(FLASHBACK)
"Hello child, what are you doing here in the 10th division's office?" Matsumoto says
"First off, I'm not a child… and second, I'm the new captain of this division, can you please tell me where the fukutaicho is?" Hitsugaya says
"Oh, I'm sorry captain.." she kneels " Matsumoto Rangiku, fukutaicho of the 10th division, at your service"
"Well, if were doing formal greetings, then I'm Hitsugaya Toushiro, new captain of the 10th squad"
"wait a minute… you're the kid who was a cry baby at the store.. I hope you've grown up..." she smiles
".. YOU'RE THE ONE WHO KNOCKED ME DOWN ON MY ASS?" he says astonished that this busty woman is his fukutaicho
"well, if you wouldn't have gotten in the way, you wouldn't have fallen now would you?" she says all smart alike
the room's temperature dropped by about 5 degrees, Matsumoto, doing one of the few things she does best, she hugs him tightly until the room warms up a little bit, she lets go and the Hitsugaya is on the ground, panting and gasping for air
"Don't… ever do.. that… again…" he says in between gasps
"Hai" she says, of course she would forget that later on…
(END OF FLASHBACK)
"… so 50 years later, here we are… in the woods… alone… oh by the way taicho, you had something to say to me?" she asks
"Well, I.. uh.. yes I do actually…"
He pauses to gather up his thoughts
"well, spit it out already…"
"I.. umm… well actually it's a question…"
"Yes?"
"Do you… umm… do you like me?" he blushes
"Of course I like you, you're my captain…" her eyes go wide and she blushes profusely when she realizes what he meant "w-well, yeah.. I-I guess I do like you taicho…" she looks away
He blushes a deeper red
Just tell her master…
"Ok Hyourinmaru.. here I go"
"Matsumoto.. I-I-I like you to" he stutters

Matsumoto heart skips a beat when she hears these words from her normal cool and composed captain
FINALLY girl, took you forever to say that to his face… I was worried that I would have to tell Hyourinmaru for you… Haineko says out of joy and a little bit of sarcasm
Master, I find your actions are going to be a great reward for the future you and Matsumoto, Hyourinmaru says approvingly
"So.. umm Taicho… do you want to be together or no?" matsumoto asks
"Well, since it is a captain and a lieutenant I don't think we should, you know how many rumors go through Seireitei, even if we keep it on the down low, people will still know about it, most likely all the other captains will figure it out eventually, including the soutaicho… but if it were any other case, then yes I would ask you out…" he says sheepishly
"Well… that's kind of stupid way of thinking captain, no offense, but I see the exact opposite, I see us together and everyone should be ok with it… well except for one person…but otherwise they all should be ok with it…"
"who's the one person?" he tilts his head
Matsumoto looks at him with really… are you serious… look
"Really taicho… you seriously don't know who that is? Fine I'll tell you… she always calls you.." matsumoto gets ready for her best interpretation of Hinamori "Shiro-chan"
Hitsugaya furrows his brows in confusion "really? I thought she was just a childhood friend…no.. just.. no were childhood friends nothing like that… just plain No…" he shakes his head
She hugs him "I know taicho" Matsumoto says reassuringly
He blushes and thinks 'why is this affecting me now? She does this all the time but now…' then he does something that shocks Matsumoto, he hugs her back dun dun dun… oh noes the apocalypse is coming, he hugged her back… lols
"Tai..cho?" she lets go of him, as so does he. "what was that for?"
"nothing, I just wanted to see how it felt to hug you, that's all…" he says with a straight face
She squeals and embraces him in her normal way… squeezing the air out of him, his reitsu gets higher. "Mamsumogo met we go" (translates to Matsumoto let me go)
She tightens her grip then lets go "sorry taicho… I just got carried away"
Hitsugaya is breathing deeply as air is flooded back into his lungs "I sort of noticed that…" he gives her a scowl
She does her famous pout
He sighs and shakes his head "Matsumoto.. what am I going to do with you…" he sighs again
"Love me?" she asks
"Maybe… but right now, I don't know" he says teasingly
"Oh, come on taicho, please?" she gives him the puppy dog look
"alright… fine, and will you please stop giving me that look…" he rolls his eyes
She squeals
"And would you please stop squealing?"
"Hai"
He nods
"Soo.. taicho?"
"Yes?"
"Can I… call you Toshirou…?" she blushes slightly
"Will it make you happy?" he gives her a serious look
"Yes, yes it would" she smiles
"Then you may.. only when were in private though… if you call me 'Toushiro' in public I won't give it another thought about giving you double the paperwork for a month…"
"Hai" she responded quickly, because paperwork is the bane of her existence
He nods and she hugs him again, this time his face is on top of her shoulder
Just then two people from the 10th division show up yelling "Taicho, Fukutaicho!.. are you guys alright Taicho, Fukutaicho?"
"they must have felt your reitsu rise from earlier…"
"same with yours" he replies coldly
"My reitsu rose?.. hmm didn't notice that" Matsumoto tries to think back to when her reitsu rose
"yes, when i said that i liked you your reitsu rose from happiness..." Hitsugaya says
They run up to them and kneel
"Were ok, you guys are excused," Hitsugaya tells them coldly
One leaves while the other one stays
"I said you are excused…" he replies very coldly but then he then notes the other person is a girl and he uses a nicer tone
"It's alright, were fine ok?" she nods "good, then go back to your duties at once"
"Hai…" she gets up and shunpos back to the division
"So… Toushiro?"
"yes?"
"since I'm calling you by your informal name, does that mean that we are going out?" Matsumoto tilts her head curiously
Hitsugaya blushes
"Well… I umm.. I guess so… may I call you Rangiku?"
"Hai"
"well then Rangiku I umm… I guess we are" he repeats being totally dumbfounded
"well, on to first business, I love you Toushiro" Rangiku says
"I… love you too" Toushiro says

He finally confesses to her!
