A/N: This is an attempt to transpose the whole W.I.T.C.H. story into a book format. While I'll be sticking to the original plot I will be making some changes. There will be no OC's, just the established characters.

Enjoy!

Chapter I: It Begins

Part I

In his life, Caleb had done a lot of crazy things. But sneaking in The Royal Castle, which was the most guarded place on the planet Meridian was madness. He was crouching on a ledge, overlooking his target. The Royal Castle was one beautiful, but just like everything since the Evil Prince took over, it lost its charm. Now it resembled a tree. Giant roots could be seen along the swamp surrounding the it. There was a giant purple vortex above the castle, an indicator of the force keeping the Tyrant quarantined on this world.

It was Caleb sat in the storm, his greenish brown overcoat rustling in the wind. He had messy dark brown hair and green eyes, his mother's eyes. He evaluated the landscape, planning his next move. He started running, jumping form ledge to ledge while avoiding the guards. He went through a window and got inside one of the chambers of the castle. He made his way through the guards, some of which were sleeping, which made it easier for him.

The guards were a different species. They were double the size of a grown man and had gray skin. They were shirtless only wearing a spiky shoulder pad with two straps criss-crossing along their torso. They wore a big golden belt which sustained their dark blue loincloths. Their weapon of choice was the axe. Caleb got to the room Vathek told him will be located the barrels of gunpowder. He sneaked past some more sleeping guards and hid behind some boxes. There he noticed a chest. He slowly opened it and found at least 100 swords in there.

"So he steals our weapons to use against us." He said in a wisper.

He turned and saw, hanging on a wall beside a couple of axes, a bow and a quiver full of arrows. He picked up the bow and instantly recognised it.

"Aldarn's father made this bow!"

Outside, his partner, Aldarn, was waiting. He was also part of a different species. His skin was green and he didn't have any hair. Insted he had white rows of diamond-shaped scales along his body. He was wearing a dark purple short sleeve shirt over his white long sleeve shirt, brown pants and boots. Caleb located a pile of barrels next to a window. Perfect! He grabbed the bow and put it around his back. Slowly, he approached the pile of barrels and climbed on top of them. He started grabbing the barrels and throwing them out the window. They all landed in water. Aldarn used a long hook to grab them out. After the fourth barrel, Aldarn said with concern his voice:

"Caleb, that's enough. Get out!"

But Caleb kept going until he heard a yell: "Hey! You!" It was one of the guards.

"Looks like plan b." He said.

He jumped and grabbed a rope which was hanging a few feet away from him. He swung from it and grabbed a torch from one of the walls. He landed on top of some boxes. On a lower box was a barrel. He took it and and thrusted the torch into it. Then he threw the barrel at the guards. They ran for their lives and the barrel rolled into another chamber. A few seconds later, the barrel exploded. Then the alarm went of. The horn could be heard throughout the whole castle. Caleb knew that soon he'll have to face the whole army. So, he threw another barrel at the place he was standing before he was spoted. He took a torch and, using the bow, he shot the barrel with the torch, making it explode.

The explosion made a hole in the wall. Without a second thought, Caleb jumped. After 2 seconds of falling he landed in the water. Thankfully, he was alive. He tried to get up.

"Caleb, behind you!" Aldarn warned.

Caleb turned around and saw a giant green fish monster who was getting ready to have a snack. Aldarn threw the hook he was using at the monster's chest making it bellow in pain. It fell back into the water returning to where it came from. Caleb got to the shore. Aldarn was helping him up when an arrow almost hit them. It was time to go. Caleb started running while Aldarn tried to take a barrel with them. Caleb, realising that it was going to slow him down, said:

"Leave the powder! Go!"

Aldarn obliged. Together they tried to escape the rain of arrows. The hole Caleb had blown into the wall was a great vantage point. With the guards there was also another type of muscle. The were called Lurdens, humanoid animals, with the same level of intelligence as animals.

But the intelligent creatures that Meridian possessed pale in comparison to what had just arrived at the scene of the crime. A creature the size of a 2 story building. His whole body was covered in green scales with stripes. The stripes were a lighter shade of green. His collarbone was on the outside, red, and extended passed the length of his torso. It had a lush mane of bleached blonde hair. It didn't have legs, instead a giant tail. On first glance, it seemed like it was wearing a red mask over its eyes, however, that was also part of its body. And, speaking of its eyes, they were catlike, and the white of his eyes was yellow. It was basically a giant snake. The snake didn't look to pleased with the sight in front of him. It turned around and grabbed one of the guards by the strap of his shoulder pad, raising him to his face.

"Who did this?" His voice was rough and full of hisses. The guard coughed.

"A boy! The Rebel Leader!"

"Find him!"

Light years away, a planet very similar to Meridian stood, called Earth. In spite of the long distance between them, Meridian always had a mistic conection with Earth. For the last 13 years there have been an abnormal rise in rain and thunderstorms across the planet. Now, it was storming in a city located near the sea, called Heatherfield. It was September 2004. The school year was just begining. It was a beautiful morning, for those who like thunderstorms.

Somewere in Heatherfield stood a chinese restaurant called The Silver Dragon. Upstairs lived the owner, a 60 year-old chinese woman, called Yan Lin. She was short, with long black hair which had streaks of white. She kept her hair in a bum. Her favourite piece of clothing was a green kimono. Her face was full of wrinkles. But don't let that fool you, Yan Lin is the most energetic and fun person you'll ever meet.

She was now ironing some clothes. Her granddaughter, Hay Lin, was in her room, having a snack. She had waist length black hair which was tied in 2 long ponytails. She wore a yellow crop top with pink stripes and a short knife pleated green skirt.

After Hay Lin finished her snack she packed her books in her handbag. She was about to leave the room when she felt a sneeze coming. Now, in her 12 years of living, she had plenty of powerful sneezes. But this one was ridiculous. It was as if a mini tornado had formed in the room. Anything that wasn't nailed to a wall started flying all over the place. Her posters got ripped, the windows shattered along with her monitor screen, her bed shot upwards and her closet fell to the ground.

Hay Lin had to pause for a minute to comprehend exactly what had just happened. She had just destroyed her room... with a sneeze. Then she bolted straight for her gandma's room. Yan Lin was standing behind her closet.

"Grandma? I sneezed and, like, totally trashed my room." Hay Lin was shaking. "What's wrong with me? It's not one of those becoming a woman things, is it?"

"Hay Lin," Said her grandmother with a gentle tone. "You're just a growing girl. Say, why not invite some friends over for an after school snack?"

Then the closet doors burst open, pushing Yan Lin foward. A pink glow could be seen coming from it. Yan Lin immediately closed the doors of the closet. Hay Lin gasped:

"What's in there?"

"Christmas present. Don't look!"

"What are you giving me? A bear with a spotlight?" Asked Hay Lin half-joking.

Yan Lin immediately changed the subject.

"You could invite... Cornelia! And... Taranee! And... oh, that funny girl, Irma!"

"And Elyon!" Added Hay Lin. "And that new girl, the redhead!" She paused. "I wonder why I thought of her."

Then the closet shook once more.

"You should get to school." Said Yan Lin.

She got back to her room and found her handbag with her school books. It was the only thing in her room that wasn't destroyed.

"How am I going to explain this to my parents?" She thought. "And why was grandma so chill about it?"

She got outside. Luckily, the school bus was already at the bus stop nearby, so she didn't have to get soaked. Her friend, Irma Lair had saved her a seat. She was about the same height as Hay Lin, with shoulder length blondish brown hair and blue eyes. She wore a red crop top, a greenish brow jacket and blue jeans. She was 13, a year older than Hay Lin. She liked to crack jokes and always made sure to keep Cornelia's ego in check.

"Hey Hay!" She said. "What's going on? You look like you've seen a ghost!"

Hay Lin was reluctant to answer. However she decided it was best for Irma to know.

"I... destroyed my room."

"Wow!" she said in amazement. "What could have possibly happened to make you this mad?"

"It was an accident. I... sneezed."

"Wait, wait, wait. You're saying you destroyed your room... by sneezing?"

"Yes. I told my grandma but she treated it as if it happens to every teen, even though she heard the wreck."

Then everything around Hay Lin started changing. She was now on a platform. It must have been high in the sky because the platform was overlooking some clouds. To her left was a tall man. He was bald, with a green tattoo on his right temple. He had a long robe that covered his whole body. He looked no older that 25.

"Are you sure?" She asked. Her voice was deeper and rougher. She sounded like an old man. However she didn't find it weird. She acted as if that was how her voice always sounded.

"Yes, Tibor." Said the man. "The Veil cannot repair itself anymore. It has grown old. Portals have started appearing more frequently. I've tried my best to keep them at bay but it's too difficult. I cannot maintain the Veil and repair it at the same time. But the task of closing the portals should be, as they say, a piece of cake for the Heart of Kandrakar."

"Was choosing new Guardians the best option?" Asked Hay Lin.

"It was the only viable option. Two out of five previous Guardians are available. I sense trouble in the future. And I'm not sure how they will manage alone. It is time for a new generation of Guardians to rise. Fixing The Veil should be an easy task that will prepare them for what's to come."

Suddenly, a force pushed Hay Lin's head forward. She blinked and suddenly she found herself back in the bus. It was just a dream. Except she didn't remember falling asleep. She wasn't tired before so it couldn't have been an accident. And that dream felt so real. What was that guy talking about? Why would a veil need to be repaired by 5 guardians?

After 5 minutes the school bus arrived at Sheffield Institute, the only school in Heatherfield. Irma and Hay Lin got up from their seats. It was pouring rain outside.

"Oh, great." Said Irma disappointed. "I forgot my umbrella."

Irma and Hay Lin got out of the bus. Irma noticed that the raindrops weren't hitting her.

"Thanks, Hay Lin." She said.

She turned to Hay Lin and realised that she wasn't holding an umbrella. Hay Lin had the same look she had when she got on the bus at The Silver Dragon. Irma looked up. The raindrops were going around her, as if they were making a conscious effort not to hit her. A student did a double take. At that moment, the raindrops seemed to remember how gravity works.

She looked around. No one else but Hay Lin and that student seemed to notice that something was wrong.

"Wow," Said Irma in amazement. "I'm actualy speechless."

If Caleb would have been more careful, he and Aldarn would now be carrying barrels of gunpowder to the Infinite City. Instead they were running from an army of guards and lurdens riding war rhinos.

"I told you to take a rope." Said Aldarn.

"You also told me I couldn't get in the castle. Here!" He took the bow. "Here's your father's bow! At least this won't be used against us- Ahhh!"

He almost fell into the canyon in front of him. This canyon was different from an earth canyon. It had giant purple trees with flat tops made of stone. The army was approaching. Aldarn noticed some birds at the base of the canyon. They were hugongs, a mix between a chicken and an ostrich. They had grey feathers and were the size of ostriches.

"Hugongs." Said Aldarn disappointed. Then he realised that the hugongs could transport them to the Infinite City.

Caleb was thinking the same thing. They went along side the canyon and found more hugongs.

"How far down do you think it goes?" Asked Aldarn.

"Jump! It will tell you." Joked Caleb.

They both jumped and landed on the hard and flat surfaces of the treetops. Yes, you heard that right. Eventually, they found two hugongs and jumped on their back. The hugongs, naturally, started freaking out.

"Easy boy! Easy boy!" Said Caleb.

His hugong almost hit one of the trees.

"Wow! Wow, you overgrown chicken I said wooooooow!!!"

The army stopped when they reached the canyon. The war rhinos couldn't jump from such a height. Caleb and Aldarn finally managed to tame their hugongs. For now, they had escaped the army.

"Yes!" Caleb laughed.

Will had always hated role call. Mostly because teachers like to use her full name. She liked her name however she was teased for how unusual it sounded. So, she went by Will. A name even her mother used. First period was biology. What she didn't want was to be a laughing stock. She had just moved to Heatherfield. New city, new school, new people. Naturally, she wanted to make a good impression. She was wearing a dark orange blouse and a pink hoodie. She had chin length red hair.

"Willma Vandom." Said the biology teacher.

Really? Thought Will. She knew what was coming so she prepared herself.

"Present."

The whole class burst into laughter. Or, at least, that's how it felt.

"Cut it out, guys!" Said a boy. He was a brunette with blue eyes.

"Owwww!" Said another boy. He had spiky orange hair and a lot of pimples. "Olsen likes the new girl!"

The laughter resumed, this time however at the boy. Will felt grateful that the boy stood up for her. To bad he was getting bullied for it.

"That's enough!" Yelled the teacher. "Uriah Dun," He said, addressing the orange haired bully. "If I hear one more comment from you I will send you to the principal's office."

That shut him up pretty quickly. Last year they were given as holiday homework a project in which you had to demonstrate that too much fertiliser can keep a plant from growing. It was time to see the results. For that they went into the dance hall. There were desks there that formed a square. They were working in pairs of three. Since Will wasn't around the year before the teacher assigned her to a group of two students, an asian girl with two long ponytails, and a blonde girl with two braids.

"Hey, I'm Will, Will Vandom." She said.

"Nice to meet you!" Said the asian girl. "I'm Hay Lin. This is Elyon Brown." She gestured towards the other girl. She wore a purple shirt and a purple skirt. There was a flower pot there filled with fertiliser.

"By the way," Said Hay Lin. "Would you two like to come to The Silver Dragon after school for a snack?"

"Of course!" Said Will excited.

"Sorry Hay Lin," Said Elyon disappointed. "I have to go to the dentist."

"No Biggie." She said. "I'm going to tell the others."

She scaned the room and found Cornelia, Taranee and Irma standing with their flower pot, exepect there was a flower in it. That couldn't be right. She went to their desk.

"Cornelia!" Said Taranee with desperation in her voice. She had both her hands on the table. "Our project's suppose to prove that too much fertiliser reverses osmosis, chilling the plant. Yours has grown like 3 inches!"

Taranee Cook was the smart one. She had straight A's and has never been sent once to detention. She valued knowledge above anything else. She was African American with black hair and brown eyes. Her hair was kept in a single braid. She wore an orange jacket which closed with a string instead of a zipper and grey pants. She was nearsighted so she wore round glasses.

"Well, I tried to kill it." Said Cornelia. "I fertilised it's little butt off."

On the opposite side of the spectrum we have Cornelia Hale, a girl with an ego as big as a 5 story building. She was wearing a pink shirt and a red long skirt. She had waist length blonde hair. Cornelia can sometimes be completely oblivious to the fact that other people exist. That's not to say she's mean, she's just sometimes with her head in the clouds. Luckily, she has Irma. Her no nonsense personality keeps Cornelia on the ground. Irma was also the one who noticed the teacher approaching so she warned the others. Taranee and Irma positioned themselves so that the teacher would not notice the failed project.

Cornelia was punching the flower trying to destroy it. However, every time her fists made contact with the earth somenthing new grew out of it. By the time the teacher had passed her flower turned into a jungle. Cornelia couldn't understand how this was possible. Taranee got back to her spot and noticed a handprint burned into the wood. She didn't remember it being there. She put her hand on the mark. It matched her hand. It... had to be a coincidence.

Will was curious to see what the fuss was about so she went to their table. On the way Uriah noticed her:

"Hey, check out the new girl." He said "Hey Willma."

Will rolled her eyes. "Uhm, it's just Will."

"Ok, Will-ma!" The rest of his gang laughed.

Will got to Hay Lin, obviously embarrassed.

"That's Uriah," She said. "Ignore him."

"Yeah," Said Irma. "Evolution did. One day we expect him to slither back into the water."

Will laughed at the comment. She liked this girl.

"Would you girls like to come to The Silver Dragon after school for a snack?" Asked Hay Lin.

"Sure." Said Irma.

"Count me in!" Said Cornelia.

"Me too" Said Taranee.

"Ok, so, is it like right after school?" Asked Will.

Cornelia gasped. "Hay Lin invited new girl too?"

At that moment, Will felt like punching the annoying blonde. Just when she thought she could make friends, someone had to step in and remind her that she's out of her league. Suddenly, a lightning bolt hit Cornelia straight in the head. She fell to her knees, panting. The entire class came rushing to see if she was ok. Thankfully, she wasn't hurt at all. Will looked up to see were the bolt came from. But all she saw was a lightbulb. Surely you can't get electrocuted from a light bulb, right?

After they finished their snack, Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin sat in silence, each of them thinking about the weird things that have been going on to them. They all tried to rationalise it. Maybe a well hidden platform stopped the rain. Maybe an insulation problem caused the mini-lightning. Maybe someone did some art with a lighter on that desk. Maybe a rare plant seed got caught up in the biology lab that grows fast. Maybe a strong gust of wind distroyed Hay Lin's room.

And the man from Hay Lin's dream... He seemed so different, young yet old, careful yet reckless, all knowing yet uncertain. Hay Lin couldn't remember what he looked like. A first for her considering she had a photographic memory. Irma was the first to break the silence.

"Hey! Keep all that noise down!" No response. "I was being ironic." She added.

"So, Will," Said Taranee. "Were did you go to school before Sheffield?"

"I'm from Fadden Hills so-"

"Hello! Who cares?" Cornelia interrupted. "Have you guys noticed a bunch of real strange stuff going on around me lately?"

Not everything has to be about you. Was what Will wanted to say. However Irma spoke first.

"Oh dear! The conversation has accidentally wandered away from Cornela's live. Whatever were we thinking." Said Irma in mocked concern.

The others laughed. Will was definitely going to get along with Irma. Then Yan Lin walked in.

"Enjoying your food?" She asked. She had a pink box in her hands. They all thanked her for the snack.

"But the important thing is," Said Irma. "How is Cornelia enjoying her food."

Another wave of laughter filled the room, which was mostly empty. Will opened a fortune cookie.

"You will make a new best friend."

Irma winked at Will. Yep, she was definitely it.

"What's in the box, grandma?" Asked Hay Lin.

"Let me tell you girls a story." Said Yan Lin. "That I believe will have a special meaning. For all five of you."

"Grandma," Said Hay Lin a bit concerned. "They don't want to hear a story."

Yan Lin didn't respond. She snapped her fingers. A light blue ring appeared on the floor and rose to the ceiling, engulfing the girls in some kind of dome. An image formed inside the dome, of the solar sistem. The girls watched in awe.

"The universe was once a single kindom ruled by good." Said Yan Lin. "But evil began to take root. One man took it upon himself to fight this evil. And, using his gift of foresight, which is the ability to see into the future, he traveled from world to world, putting things right that went wrong. On his quest he made many friends, which became allies in his mission. Eventually they built a headquarters, in a place called Kandrakar, at the Centre of Infinity. He formed The Council Of Kandrakar, which was made up of all his allies. One of his most valuable allies are called The Guardians, which are five earth girls, each wielding one of the five elements. His name became lost to time. We call him The Oracle."

A picture of that man appeared in front of them. Hay Lin gasped.

"That's him! The man from my dream!"

Yan Lin didn't look surprised.

"What did he do in your dream?" She asked.

"He talked to me. Well, he didn't talk to me. He seemed to think I was someone else. Called me Tyiob or something."

"Tibor." Said Yan Lin. "What did he tell you?"

"He said that a veil was getting old and that it had to be fixed by new guardians. Do you know what he was talking about?"

"13 years ago," Said Yan Lin. "A planet called Meridian was overtaken by a powerful entity named Phobos. He wanted to expand his reign over the entire Universe. The Oracle, seeing the danger, rased a magical barrier over the entire planet. That barrier is called The Veil. Without the protection of this Veil every world, including Earth, is in terrible danger. Phobos may have overtaken Meridian but he is not the legitimate ruler. It is believed that the true heir to the throne is somewhere here on Earth."

The image changed, showing the solar sistem being consumed by vines with thorns, and a throne, which insted of legs had giant roots.

"Uhm, I'd like to wake up now." Said Irma.

"Portals have begun to open in the Veil" Yan Lin continued. "Doorways through which evil can cross between worlds."

Now, a blue vortex appeared. Electricity crackled around it.

"The Guardians's job is to keep the world safe from evil. Right now, the best way to do that is to close these holes."

She snapped her fingers. Another ring appeared, taking the image with it.

"I became a Guardian when I was your age." She said. "But now the duty is passing to your generation."

Cornelia got up from her seat.

"Wow, thanks for the snacks!" She wanted to get out of there, but Yan Lin gestured her to stay. She opened the box on the table and took out the contents. It was a pink orb the size of a wallnut with a metal frame. It had a chain. The pink in the orb constantly shifted and gave of an aura.

"This is the Heart Of Kandrakar, which containes the primary forces of nature. In the last few days, you've all had unusual experiences, am I right?"

"Not counting this one?" Asked Irma.

"All five of you are starting to notice extraordinary abilities. Irma, you will have noticed any water around you behaving strangely."

Irma was speechless. How did she know? There was a glass of water with a straw in front of her. She took out the straw. The water followed it. Irma moved the straw around until the water formed a ball. The moment Irma took her gaze off the ball the water in it started behaving normally, witch naturally resulted in the table getting wet. The others stared at her in a disbelief. The was an unlit candle on the table.

"Taranee," Said Yan Lin. "I believe you've always been afraid of fire. But focus now on the candle."

Taranee pointed her index finger at the candle. She felt something hot inside her, moving from her heart to her hand. When it reached her hand, it transformed into a fireball. It missed the candle, accidentally setting on fire a banana. Luckily Irma had water powers. Yan Lin took a cardboard balloon that could be folded.

"My little Hay Lin." She said. "This morning you noticed your power over air."

Hay Lin began to blow. A powerful wind came from her mouth and went straight towards the cardboard balloon, unfolding it. Yan Lin put it down and took a flower pot which only had earth in it. She gave it to Cornelia.

"To you, Cornelia, is given the power of earth."

Cornelia raised her hand over the flower pot. A flower began to grow from the earth. However she kept using her power, so naturally, the flower pot shattered from the vines that grew from the earth.

"Still doesn't explain how I got struck by lightning." Said Cornela.

"That wasn't you." Said Yan Lin. "It was Will."

Everyone stared at Will.

"Uhm, hate to disappoint you but I can't even do that trick where it looks like your thumb comes apart. But, if I ever have a party you guys are definitely the entertainment."

"You have the fifth element." Said Yan Lin. "It is not known by many, but it is the most powerful of them all. It's called Quintessence. It's the magic that gives life, manifesting itself as electricity."

Will got up from her seat and tried to use her power. She felt something hot inside her. The feeling moved around her body at an incredibly fast speed, desperately trying to find an escape. Finally, Will couldn't hold it in. She let it out. Sparks began to form around her. She saw a fruit basket on the table. She raised her hand. A lightning bolt formed from her hand, destroying the basket.

"Because of the different nature of the elements," Yan Lin continued. "The Guardians will not always get along among themself. So one of the five is chosen to be their leader. And with the Heart Of Kandrakar, unites them, summoning and magnifying their powers."

She let the Heart Of Kandrakar go. It immediately went to Will.

"Uhm, recap!" Said Taranee. "We've got to protect the world from evil by repairing holes in some kind of Veil?"

"This doesn't involve sewing, does it?" Asked Cornelia.

"This is so cool!" Said Irma enthusiastically. "When can we start!?"

"You already have" Said Yan Lin.

"Why tell us all this now, grandma?" Asked Hay Lin.

"There is a rebellion in Meridian." Said Yan Lin. "But their leader is in danger. I fear a dark and difficult time is coming. Many good people will need your help. Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin, you have been chosen to be the next Guardians Of The Veil."

Alright, the end of part 1! I hope you enjoyed it. I decided it will make more sense if Will had her powers from the start. Let me now what you thought of my little experiment, or if you have any suggestions. JRGMF, out!
