Colonel Roy Mustang was sleeping once again on the job instead of doing his work. But he suddenly woke from a gun being fired near his head. Roy shocked awake and looked around, his staff was frightened and looking at something next to him. As he turned his head he already knew what he would see and right he was.
Next to him stood his right hand woman, lieutenant Risa Hawkeye holding her gun. "What's up Risa?" Roy asked as he shoved some paper work of his desk and on to the floor. "Sir do you know a town called Arcadia Bay?" Risa asked in her usual formal tone. "Yes" Roy said whilst rubbing his eyes "that's the town were the daughter of the local DA disappeared a few weeks ago right? Rachael Amber was her name?" Hawkeye nodded affirmatively
"The Führer ordered you and two majors down to investigate," "Let me guess" Roy said with a sigh, "one of the majors is Armstrong," Risa nodded at her commanding officer's guess. "Lieutenant Breda, 2nd lieutenant Falman" Roy said in a commanding tone "pack my bags and Hawkeye's we are going to Arcadia bay," Breda & Falman just replied with "yes sir!"
Colonel Mustang and Lieutenant Hawkeye were waiting on platform 10 of Central city Central station, "Hey Roy have you finely found yourself a wife?" they heard from a few meters behind them. Roy sighed before replying "Meas would you lay it off already. You have been bugging me about that for 5 years now and it's not going to happen any time soon." But before Major Hughes could respond they heard a lot of shouting behind them, "there you all are, I have been looking for you and now have finely found you using the ancient techniques passed down the Armstrong family line for generations!" the massive now shirtless and flexing Major Armstrong said.
Hughes was the first to respond and had to help Mustang refrain himself of using his flame alchemy on Major Armstrong. "Good" Roy said "which of you two arranged for our accommodations in Arcadia Bay?" Armstrong and Hughes looked questionable at each other "I thought you would arrange that musky" Hughes said sheepishly. At this Roy snapped "That is Colonel Mustang for you! And since when does the commanding officer has to arrange accommodations? Subordinates arrange that. And I keep busy with the paper work and overseeing the operation." Roy noticed that everybody who had heard his outburst was now staring at him he collected himself looked at the time and walked over to some payphones hanging on the wall.
As he was dealing the number of the Arcadia Bay police he noticed a man looking at him also waiting on the train to Arcadia Bay. It was a middle aged man wearing an old cowboy hat, a guns and roses shirt, and a big ruffled punkish waistcoat over it. His cargo trouser was really at the end of its life and he was wearing a pair of cowboy boots underneath them, he had a guitar case and an old duffle bag with him. He had long blond hair and looked somewhat familiar. While Roy was talking to an policeman on the other end of the line who assured him, he and his party could sleep at the local academy. Roy thought that the strange man had at least two pairs of guns on him, probably a small one in each of his boots and a revolver on both his hips though he couldn't see the he was sure they were there. As the military party boarded the train they sought an empty compartment.
As they sad there baggage down and took a seat in the compartment Roy told his team about the strange man, they were all worried when they heard, Hughes was the first to speak. "you know, maybe he wasn't armed and who knows he might not even be heading to Arcadia Bay, West city is a stop on the way there, he might want to get of there or a different stop for all we know." "you know, you might be right we don't know who he is and where he is going. But colonel if you are really that worried we could surveille hem whilst we all are on this train." And that's exactly what they did, Armstrong posed as the train guard and checked the man's ticket and he was indeed traveling to Arcadia Bay. The gun loving sniper Hawkeye walked past the man and noted that as the colonel suspected he carried at least one pair of revolvers on his hips and possibly had another pair in his boots.
As the military group was planning what to do with the man they saw him jump from the train at what looked like a junkyard just before the outskirts of the small town. "I'm going after him" said Armstrong while getting up to open the door. Roy and Risa told him to stop and said it was a bad idea. "Just think about it if we go after him he will know he's being watched. As long as we watch him from the shadows and conduct our regular investigation he won't be any wiser and we can keep tabs on him without him suspecting tabs." They watched Armstrong sit down again and waited for the train to arrive at its final destination.
