Stunning

Ginny eyed herself critically in the mirror. Her dress was made of the finest silk, the cut of it undeniably flattering, and it was in a stunning emerald green colour that complimented the red of her hair perfectly. Her make up was soft and understated, her heels giving her the height she hadn't been blessed with, and still… still she didn't feel like she'd fit in with the others in the ballroom she was expected to attend.

"You look stunning." She turned to see Draco approaching her across the bedroom, a box in his hands and a smile on his face. "Utter perfection."

She returned his smile, but then bit her bottom lip. "I…"

He frowned slightly. "What's wrong?"

"I just… I feel like I don't fit in with your… friends? Acquaintances? And I don't want to embarrass you, or—"

"Stop it," he murmured, arms sliding around her waist from behind. He rested his chin on her shoulder. "I like you the way you are, and if they don't, well, that sounds like a them problem to me. You're wonderful just the way you are."

She huffed out a laugh and leant back against him, turning to press her face against his. "You'll stay with me?"

"I'm not intending to let go of you the whole night long," he promised. "Who knows who will try and steal you away from me if I even blink for too long."

"Draco—"

"Don't worry about what people think," he continued, interrupting her gently. "I love you, your friends love you, and your family loves you. What does it matter what some insecure bimbo says?"

She swallowed hard, but nodded. "Okay, you're right. I'm ready to go."

"One more thing," he said, releasing his grip on her waist to show her the box he'd brought with him. "I thought this would go nicely with your dress."

She took it from him and opened it to find a delicate silver chain with an emerald pendant hanging from it.

"It's beautiful," she murmured.

"Not as beautiful as the woman displaying it. Can I put it on for you?"

She nodded, and with careful fingers, he pulled it from the box. With one hand, he carefully shifted her hair to her shoulder, and then clasped the necklace around her neck.

"Stunning," he whispered, pressing a kiss to the back of her neck before he stepped back. "I love you."

She smiled at him, a true smile this time, as she accepted his help to put her cloak on. "I love you too."
