Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the very first chapter of the Xyz Arc. There will be a lot happening in this arc and I hope that you enjoy this one as we are now in the midpoint of the series.
Now let's jump right to it.
Chapter 01: The City of Ruins - Heartland
Heartland – Heart Branch School
"Heart Burning!" A man in a yellow suit and hat shouted. "Ladies and gentlemen of Heartland, the time has come to determine the ultimate champion! That's right! The World Duel Carnival is finally here and I, Mr. Heartland can't wait to see the burning Duels that are to come!"
"To those of you who are not aware, the World Duel Carnival is a Duel Monsters competition that has our four schools face off against one another for the chance of being the Duel Champion! Students of the Spade, Clover, Diamond and Heart Branches will all compete against each other to earn the ultimate prize. 5,000,000,000 yen and the title of Duel Champion!" Mr. Heartland revealed.
"Who will come out on top?! Who will be rich beyond our minds? And who will be Heartland's Pride and Joy? Come to the Duel Carnival and find out! Heart Burning!" Mr. Heartland finished his announcement.
All of the students in the classroom were excited to enter the World Duel Carnival. Rio was at her desk looking at her cards and humming at herself.
"So, you're gonna enter the Duel Carnival as well, Rio?" Rio looked up to see a girl and a boy approach her.
The girl with dark green hair tied with lighter green bangs and orange eyes. Her hair was tied in a side pun and she was wearing a white t-shirt with a yellow stripe decal, pink skirt, long black knee length socks and white shoes.
The boy had black hair with a baseball cap backwards and wore an orange t-shirt with a smiley face on which reveals the bottom of his stomach and blue pants strapped by suspenders.
"Kotori. Tetsuo. Yeah, I'll be participating. What about you guys?" Rio asked.
"Yeah, we're gonna give it out all and show off the power of the 1st years. No way we're gonna let a 3rd win this tournament." Tetsuo clenched his fist in determination.
"You know it's more of clash against schools than it is on grade levels." Kotori pointed out.
"That's true, but it's always the 3rd years that get the highest honors and they look down on us. Well, this year is gonna be different, I'm gonna take down all of them. Including Durbe and Misael." Tetsuo said.
"While that's great an all, don't forget about the other Honor Students. You got Girag and my brother, Ryoga in 2nd year. And then, you got Alito and Vector in your year and they were able to beat some of the 3rd years." Rio said.
"Ah, that's right." Tetsuo remembered.
"Plus, you got the other students from the others schools. Spade Branch has the Kurosaki siblings, Shun and Ruri. And the Clover Branch has Kaito Tenjo." Kotori added.
"R-Right…" Tetsuo felt his confidence disappear.
"And then, there's Mr. Fanservice from the Diamond Branch. Thomas Arclight." Rio crossed her arms in annoyance. "That guy is just plain annoying."
"I still can't believe they're allowing him to enter. Especially after what he did to the Class Representative." Kotori complained.
The school bell rang out loud signaling the end of the day and Rio grabbed her cards. "Well, I'll see you all at the tour—" A loud explosion shook the entire school.
"What's going on?" Tetsuo asked.
"Guys look!" Kotori pointed outside. Rio and Tetsuo saw multiple Antique Gear Giants attacking the city and destroying everything and one was headed there way.
"We have to get out of here!" Rio said.
The entire school was in panic as students, teachers and other faculty workers tried to get out of the building. "Hurry the exit is this way!" Tetsuo shouted as he, Rio and Kotori ran.
Suddenly a mechanical hand shot through the wall, separating Rio from Tetsuo and Kotori. "Rio, are you okay?!" Kotori asked.
"I'm fine! Just keep going, I'll catch up!" Rio shouted. She got to her feet and she saw the Antique Gear Giant looking down at her. "What's this monster?"
Antique Gear Giant then fired a laser at Rio, but she managed to roll back to avoid being hit. But the laser cut the floor and Rio fell down and she screamed.
Heart Branch Academy – Ruins
Rio grunted as she started to wake up. "Ow…" Rio held her head. She opened her eyes and she gasped at what she saw.
The entire school was gone. There was nothing left. "No way…this can't…this can't be real…"
Rio walked around the destruction, still shaking from what she was seeing. "This isn't real…this isn't real…this isn't real…" She then gasped when she saw something on the floor.
She knelt down and picked up two objects, Tetsuo's cap and Kotori's ribbon. "Kotori…Tetsuo…" Rio cried as she held the two objects in her hands.
A large shadow loomed over her and she saw another Antique Gear Chaos Giant staring down at her. The Antique Gear Giant prepared to fire another laser and Rio just stayed still.
"Cipher Stream of Destruction!"
A powerful stream destroyed Chaos Giant and reduced it to rubble. "Are you okay, Rio?" Rio turned around to see a boy with light blue-grey eyes, pale skin and blonde hair that curls up in a point with a dark green spiked front and bangs. He also wears a black trench coat with a high collar over a grey shirt and white pants with black boots. He also wears a belt with two purple Deck boxes. On his hand he wears a red scarf wrapped around his right wrist.
"Kaito…" Rio uttered. "They're gone…everyone is…"
"Unforgivable…" Kaito clenched his fist. "I won't ever forgive you! Academia!" Kaito shouted.
Heartland City – Present Time
Rio looked at Kotori's ribbon and Tetsuo's cap with sadness. "Kotori…Tetsuo…"
"Are you okay?" Rio turned to Yuya who looked at her with a concerned look.
"I was just thinking back to…you know…" Rio answered.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring back bad memories." Yuya apologized.
"It's okay." Rio said. "Those memories may be bad, but they remind me of why I'm still here today and what I'm fighting for."
Yuya's Duel Disk rang and he answered it. "Reiji." Yuya answered.
"Have you found anything?" Reiji asked.
"No, nothing around here." Yuya answered. "Rio and I gonna rendezvous with Uncle Jonouchi, Asuka and Rua. What about Shun and Ruri?"
"Nothing yet." Reiji answered. "I managed to get a link back to the Standard Dimension and Nakajima is sending over emergency supplies. Once we find the Resistance base, we'll be able to give them much needed support."
"Okay, we'll head back soon." Yuya ended the call. "We better link up with the others and head back to our camp. There's nothing we can do here now."
"Yeah…" Rio agreed and the two of them walked away.
Guardians' Camp
"Man, from the way you all told us about this place, I knew it was gonna be bad but not this bad." Sawatari said as he looked out beyond the cliff.
"Just be glad you missed the actual invasion. It was worse than Zero Reverse." Dennis said.
"Do you think the others are okay?" Yuzu was worried.
"No need to think the worse, Yuzu. They're gonna be okay." Serena said. "Remember, Yuya is a Dragon Soldier, and he has Asuka and the others with him."
"And Shun and Ruri know this place, so they'll be careful." Rin added.
"I know but still…" Yuzu said.
"The best you can do is have faith." The girls turned to see Jack drinking some coffee. "Remember, you all won the Friendship Cup because you believed in each other's power. Don't start doubting each other now after all you've accomplish in the Synchro Dimension."
"Jack's right." Crow agreed while carrying a box. "If we just keep on believing in our strength and our bonds, we'll get through this." He then opened the box to reveal a bunch of snacks and other foods. "Now let's go ahead and eat so we can keep up our strength."
"Dibs on those donuts!" Sawatari declared.
Heartland City – Main Plaza
Yuya and Rio reunited with Jonouchi, Asuka and Rua. "So, you guys found nothing either?" Yuya asked.
"Nothing. Zip. Nada. Bubkes." Rua answered.
"Honestly, it's hard to think whether finding nothing is good or bad." Asuka said.
"Well, maybe Ruri and Shun have better luck than us." Rio said. "They were in the Resistance much longer than me, so they might know a few good places to hide."
"Then I guess we have no choice but to head back. Hopefully—" Jonouchi crossed his arms.
"I told you I don't want anything to do with you!"
"But I'm doing this for your own sake!"
The five of them heard voices nearby and they all ran to the source to see a boy and a girl arguing.
The boy was wearing a white suit and a hat while the girl had hair similar to Aki's but tied in a ponytail and she was wearing white pants, a blue shirt and a black vest with an orange hood.
"Listen to me, Akari. If we do this, our families will be spared and we'll be a part of their new world!" The boy said.
"I'm not turning the people of our city into cards, Charlie!" The girl, Akari, countered. "I don't care if they do spare us, it's not worth living if it means turning your back on your hometown!"
"They already know where everyone lives! If you don't join by tomorrow, they'll turn you and your entire family into cards! This is our one chance! We need to live!" Charlie shouted.
"You can do what you want." Akari turned her back on Charlie. "I'm gonna fight to save our city. It's the right thing to do! I'm going to the Resistance!"
"Hey, did you hear that?" Rua whispered.
"That's our ticket to the Resistance." Yuya nodded.
"I won't let you!" Charlie grabbed Akari by her wrist and dragged. "I don't want to lose you too!"
"Charlie, let me go!" Akari tried to break free but Charlie was too strong.
"Hey!" Jonouchi shouted as he jumped into view of Akari and Charlie. "If she says let go, you let go!" Jonouchi got in between Akari and Charlie.
"Who are you?" Charlie asked.
"A guy who doesn't like people turning their back on their homes. You shouldn't even be helping Academia. Look at what they did!" Jonouchi gestured around them.
"But they're giving us a choice. If we agree to help them with their ARC Area Project, we'll be spared from being turned into cards and we'll be able to live in their utopia. I would rather live without being hunted by them and I'm not the only one who agrees."
"But that doesn't give you the right to make choices for other people." Jonouchi argued.
"Looks like you're not gonna get out of my way. In that case, I'll defeat you in a Duel!" Charlie activated his Duel Disk.
Jonouchi was gonna activate his. "Wait!" Akari stopped Jonouchi. "Charlie isn't an ordinary Duelist. He's got a power that hasn't made him lose a single Duel."
"In other words, he's strong." Jonouchi looked at Charlie. "Then, that's fine by me. I love a challenge." Jonouchi activated his Duel Disk.
Akari sweat dropped at Jonouchi's declaration. "Did you not listen to me?"
"It'll be okay. Uncle Jonouchi is a Pro Duelist." Yuya said as he, Asuka, Rua and Rio joined up. "He won't lose."
"A Pro, huh?" Akari looked at Jonouchi.
"Field Magic: Dimension Gates" Jonouchi's Duel Disk activate the Field Magic and the gates appeared around him and Charlie.
"Duel!" Jonouchi and Charlie declared.

"The first turn is mine! Draw!" Jonouchi drew his card. "I summon Swordsman of Landstar (ATK: 500, LV: 3) in Attack Position!" Jonouchi brought out a cartoon swordsman. "Next, I set two cards and end my turn!"
Jonouchi LP: 4000, Hand: 3
Charlie LP: 4000, Hand: 5
"My turn! Draw!" Charlie drew his card. "I activate the Continuous Magic: Bye-Bye Game!" Charlie held up his hand and a die appeared. "Life is Carnival! This card allows me to toss a die once per turn and if it is a six, my Life Points will increase five times! However, if I get another value, my Life Points will return to the value prior to activation!"
"So, if he gets a six, he'll have…" Rua counted with his fingers.
"20,000 Life Points." Asuka answered.
"But a getting a six is about a 1 in 6 chance." Yuya said.
"Here!" Charlie threw the dice and it landed on six.
"Seriously?!" Rua gasped.
"5 times 4000 is 20,000!" Charlie smiled as he gained Life Points.
Charlie LP: 4000→20,000
"So long as the sun is round, my luck won't end! I summon Majestic Jester (ATK: 0, LV: 1)! Charlie summoned a fast jester to the field. "Battle! Majestic Jester, attack Swordsman of Landstar!"
"What? But Swordsman of Landstar is stronger?" Rio questioned.
"Desperate Mime!" Majestic Jester attacked. "At this moment, I activate Majestic Jester's effect!" Charlie got another die. "When Majestic Jester declares an attack, if I toss a six, it destroys a monster my opponent controls! Any other number and Majestic Jester is destroyed!" Charlie threw the die.
"No way is he gonna get a six again." Rua said. The die landed on six. "Oh, come on!"
"Swordsman of Landstar is destroyed!" Jonouchi's monster was destroyed.
"I activate my Trap Card: Soul Rope!" Jonouchi played his set card. "When my monster is destroyed, by paying 1000 Life Points, I can Special Summon a Level 4 monster from my deck!" Jonouchi grabbed a card from his deck. "I Special Summon Gearfried the Iron Knight (ATK: 1800, LV: 4)!" Jonouchi summoned a warrior in black armor.
Jonouchi LP: 4000→3000
"Oh, I set one card and end my turn." Charlie finished.
Jonouchi LP: 3000, Hand: 3
Charlie LP: 20,000, Hand: 3
"My turn! Draw!" Jonouchi drew his card. "You're not the only one that has good luck. I summon Time Magician (ATK: 500, LV: 2)!" Jonouchi summoned a clock magician. "Time Magician's effect! Once per turn, the roulette will spin and if it lands on red, all of your monsters are destroyed, but, if it lands on white, my monsters are destroyed and I take damage equal to half of their total Attack Points! Time Magician! Time Roulette!"
Time Magician raised its staff and the roulette started to spin. It went faster and faster before it started to slow down and it stopped on red. "Heh. It landed on red; Majestic Jester is destroyed!" Charlie's monster was destroyed.
"But I'm not done yet, I activate the Magic Card: Fusion!" Jonouchi showed the Fusion card.
"What?!" Charlie exclaimed and Akari gasped.
"I fuse the Time Magician on the field with the Baby Dragon in my hand!" Both of Jonouchi's monsters went into the spiraling vortex.
"Magician that controls time, allow the infant dragon to evolve through a thousand years and become a new power! Fusion Summon! Come forth! Thousand Dragon (ATK: 2400, LV: 7)!" An elderly dragon appeared and roared.
"Fusion Summon…you're Academia!" Charlie growled.
"I'm from the Standard Dimension, a dimension where Fusion, Synchro, Xyz and Ritual Summon are available for everyone." Jonouchi explained. "However, don't you compare my Fusion to Academia's. Academia's Fusion is about destruction. My Fusion is about friendship!"
"Fusion as friendship?" Akari muttered.
"Battle! Thousand Dragon! Direct Attack! Thousand Nose Breath!" Thousand Dragon unleashed an attack from its nose and it hit Charlie.
Charlie LP: 20,000→17,600
"Next, Gearfried! Direct Attack! Iron Slash!" Gearfried charged and slashed at Charlie, damaging him more.
Charlie LP: 17,600→15,800
"I set one card and end my turn!" Jonouchi finished his turn.
Jonouchi LP: 3000, Hand: 0
Charlie LP: 15,800, Hand: 3
"The fact that you use Fusion and pretending to be a good guy gives me more than enough reason to take you out! My turn! Draw!" Charlie drew his card. "I activate Bye- Bye Game's effect!" Charlie threw his die and it landed on six.
"Again!" Asuka's eyes widened.
"He's got to be cheating! He's gotta!" Rua complained.
"Charlie always has incredible luck. It's one of the reasons why he has never lost." Akari explained.
"Life is Carnival! My Life Points are multiplied once more.
Charlie LP: 15,800→79,000
"You're really pushing your luck." Jonouchi said.
"And I'll keep it up with the Magic Card: Cup of Ace!" This time a coin appeared in Charlie's hands. "I toss this coin and if its Heads I can draw two cards! But if its Tails, my opponent draws two cards!" Charlie tossed the coin in the air and it landed on the ground. "Heads! I draw two cards!" Charlie drew two more cards.
"I activate the Magic Card: The Shallow Grave! This card allows us both to Special Summon one monster from our Graveyards in Defense Position! I revive Majestic Chester (DEF: 0, LV: 1)!" Charlie brought back his jester.
"Then I…" Jonouchi took a card from his Duel Disk. "I Special Summon Time Magician (DEF: 400, LV: 2)!" Jonouchi brought back his clock.
"Next, I activate the Magic Card: Release Exchange! By releasing one monster on my field, I can Special Summon one monster with the same Level! I release the Level 1 Majestic Jester and Special Summon Dicelot Seven (ATK: 100, LV: 1) with the same Level!" Charlie brought out a cross monster with hands.
"Then, I activate the Magic Card: Monster Slot! By targeting one monster on my field, I can banish one monster in my Graveyard that has the same Level as it and draw one card. And if that card has the same Level as the banished monster, I'm allowed to Special Summon it!" Charlie revealed.
"I target my Level 1 Dicelot Seven and banish my Level 1 Majestic Jester! Now let's see what I get!" Charlie drew his cards as the slot machine activated and it showed his monsters already on the two reels and the last one spun before stopping. "Yes! I Special Summon Dicelot Seven (ATK: 100, LV: 1)!" Charlie summoned another copy.
"Looks like his luck expands to more than just dice." Yuya said.
"Slot machines, coin tosses, he's winning all of them. You weren't kidding that his luck was incredible." Rio said.
"Next, I Normal Summon my third Dicelot Seven (ATK: 100, LV: 1)!" Charlie summoned his third copy.
"Dicelot Seven can raise its Level according to the tossed value of the die until the End Phase!" Three dice appeared in Charlie's hand. "Please, give me three sixes!" Charlie threw his dice along with the Dicelot Sevens. The dice rolled before all three of them landed on six.
"Wow, what are the odds." Jonouchi spoke sarcastically.
"The level of all three Dicelot Sevens increases from 1 to 7!" Charlie smiled.
Dicelot Seven x3 (LV: 1→7)
"I Overlay my three Level 7 Dicelot Sevens!" The three monsters turned into yellow lights and entered the spacelike portal in front of Charlie. "Mythical being from another world, shower me with never ending luck! Xyz Summon! Come forth! Number 7! Lucky Stripe (ATK: 700, RNK: 7, OVU: 3)!" A being that looked like a jester with the number 07 on it appeared.
"Numbers…I've never heard of that archetype before!" Rio said.
"Life Is Carnival!" Charlie shouted. "I activate Lucky Stripe's effect! By using one Overlay Unit, when this monster battles, I roll a die! And during damage calculation, Lucky Stripe's Attack Points will be multiplied by the number rolled on the die!"
Lucky Stripe (OVU: 3→2)
Lucky Stripe threw a die and it landed on six. "Six! Lucky Stripe's Attack Points are multiplied by six!"
Lucky Stripe (ATK: 700→4200)
"Battle! Lucky Stripe, attack Thousand Dragon!" A glowing hand charged towards Thousand Dragon and destroyed it and sending Jonouchi skidding back.
Jonouchi LP: 3000→1200
"At the End of the Battle Phase, Lucky Stripe's Attack Points return to normal." Charlie smiled.
Lucky Stripe (ATK: 4200→700)
"I set one card and end my turn. Unlike you, my luck is never runs out. And that is why I'm gonna win and turn you into a card." Charlie declared.
Jonouchi LP: 1200, Hand: 0
Charlie LP: 79,000, Hand: 0
"Wait, Charlie!" Akari shouted. "He's not a member of Academia, there's no need for this!"
"Wrong! Everyone that uses Fusion is guilty! That's why I'm tricking them, so when their guard is down, I take them out! Then, I'll be known as the hero that saved Heartland!"
"You make me sick!" Jonouchi growled. "You don't care about the people, you only care about yourself! I'm not letting you get away with this!"
"My turn! Draw!" Jonouchi drew his card. "I activate my Magic Card: Treasure Cards of Fate! I roll a die and then draw cards equal to the number that is rolled. But I must also discard that same amount to my Graveyard!"
A hand came out of Jonouchi's card and tossed a die and it landed on four. "Four." Jonouchi drew four cards while also discarding four cards to the Graveyard. "Just one more card."
"I activate another Magic Card: Treasure Cards of the Ruby! By sending a Level 7 Red-Eyes monster from my hand to the Graveyard, I can draw two cards! I discard Red-Eyes Black Dragon!" Jonouchi discarded Red-Eyes and drew two more cards.
"Did you know, Charlie?" Jonouchi asked.
"Know what?" Charlie asked.
"There's a legend in the Duel Monsters World, a legend of a Sword Master who was unbeatable because he was too strong. With just one swing of his blade, he could split the sea, tear the skies and destroy the land. It was said that nobody ever returned alive after meeting him. So, in order to restrain himself, the Sword Master chained himself down and clad himself in an armor made of iron and sealed his sword away."
"Now's the time to break that seal!" Jonouchi inserted a card in his Duel Disk. "I activate the Magic Card: Release Restraint! This card releases Gearfried the Iron Knight on the field and Special Summon his true form! Break your armor, Gearfried!" Gearfried let out a war cry as his armor began to shatter.
"From my deck, I Special Summon Swordmaster - Naked Gearfried (ATK: 2600, LV: 7)!" Gearfried's armor shattered to reveal a strong man with long hair and pointy ears.
"And now…I activate Red-Eyes Hermos! This card allows me to fuse this card with a monster on my field to create a Fusion Monster!" Jonouchi revealed.
"What?!" Charlie gasped.
"I fuse Hermos with Time Magician!" Hermos fused with Time Magician and appearing was a gold and red sword. "I equip Time Magic Sword to Naked Gearfried!" Naked Gearfried took the sword.
"At this moment, Naked Gearfried's effect activates! When it is equipped with a Equip Card, it can destroy one monster on the field! I destroy Lucky Stripe!" Jonouchi pointed to Lucky Stripe.
"I won't let you! I activate my Trap Card: Number's Armor! When a Numbers monster on my field is about to be destroyed by a card effect, I negate that effect and this card can be added as an Overlay Unit to the Numbers!" Charlie played his card and the card protected Lucky Stripe from being destroyed and became an Overlay Unit.
Lucky Stripe (OVU: 2→3)
"Battle! Naked Gearfried, attack Lucky Stripe!" Naked Gearfried charged.
"He's attacking while his monster is weaker, it has something to do with that Fusion weapon." Charlie thought. "I activate my Continuous Trap: Dice Crisis! I roll a die and if it is a six, I can take control of that monster and have its Attack Points reduced to 0! Come on!" Charlie threw his die and it landed on six again. "Naked Gearfried is mine!"
Naked Gearfried disappeared from charging and was now on Charlie's side and his power went down.
Naked Gearfried (ATK: 2600→0)
"I figured you would do something with that Fusion Weapon and judging by the look on your face, I was right." Charlie smiled.
"I summon Wyvern Warrior (ATK: 1500, LV: 4) in Attack Position." Jonouchi summoned a green wyvern with armor and a sword. "Then, I set one card and end my turn."
Jonouchi LP: 1200, Hand: 0
Charlie LP: 79,000, Hand: 0
"Aw man, this is bad!" Rua panicked. "As long he keeps getting those six, the gap will just keep getting wider!"
"Isn't there a way to defeat this guy?" Asuka wondered.
"It's Lucky Stripe. It's the source of all of Charlie's luck." Akari spoke.
"So, it's because of that card that he's super lucky." Rio looked at the monster.
"Is there any way to maybe seal away the luck?" Yuya asked.
"The only thing that I know about that card is this. When the sun splits in two, its power will be carried away with the wind." Akari answered.
"When the sun splits in two, its power will be carried away with the wind." Jonouchi repeated what Akari said in his head.
"It's time to end this. My turn! Draw!" Charlie drew his card. "I activate the Continuous Magic: Sun's Scale!" A large bright sun appeared on the field. "This card allows me to roll a die and if I get a six all monsters on my opponent's field will be destroyed!"
"I'll use this card to destroy your Wyvern and then using Lucky Stripe's effect, you will lose!" Charlie declared.
"That sun is gonna destroy my mon—" Jonouchi's eyes widened. "The sun…" Jonouchi looked at the latest card he set. "Charlie, I'm leaving my life up to luck!" Jonouchi declared.
"Leaving your life up to luck?" Charlie was confused.
"I activate my Trap Card: Gearfried Curse Sword! I can activate this card by banishing Gearfried in my Graveyard!" A black sword appeared in front of Jonouchi and he picked it up. "I toss this sword in the air and if it cuts my arm, I will take 2000 points of damage. But if it doesn't cut me, I am allowed to destroy Magic and Trap cards equal to the number of Magic and Trap Cards on my field!" Jonouchi revealed.
"If this works, Uncle Jonouchi can get Gearfried back to his field." Yuya said. "But it's a huge risk."
"Wh-What are you doing?!" Akari gasped. "If you get cut, you'll lose!"
"If I do nothing, I'll lose either way." Jonouchi replied. "This is my decision. If I lose here, then so be it, Charlie can turn me into a card. But if I win…then there's a chance to save the people of Heartland and bring back that blue sky." Jonouchi looked up at the dark cloudy sky.
"But why?" Akari asked. "You use Fusion. Why would you help us?"
"Because it's the right thing to do." Jonouchi smiled. "Here goes!" Jonouchi threw the sword in the air and placed his arm out. Everyone watched as the sword spun in the air before descending towards Jonouchi.
The sword then landed next to Jonouchi and he looked at his arm. There was no cut. "I didn't cut, so I can destroy two cards in your Magic and Trap Zone! I destroy Sun's Scale and Dice Crisis!"!" Jonouchi grabbed the sword again and hurled it towards the sun and the sword cut the sun in two with one half destroying Dice Crisis.
"The sun is split in two." Asuka said.
"Oh, I get it! When the sun splits in two, its power will be carried away with the wind! Charlie's luck is gone!" Rio smiled.
"No way…it can't be…" Charlie was in shock before he gritted his teeth. "Because when Sun Scale was destroyed, you take 500 points of damage!" Charlie launched flames at Jonouchi and parts of Jonouchi's skin was burned.
Jonouchi LP: 1200→700
"But since your card was destroyed, Naked Gearfried returns to my side of the field!" Naked Gearfried returned to its original owner.
"My luck can't be gone! I activate Bye-Bye Game's effect!" A die appeared in Charlie's hand. Charlie rolled the die and it landed on…one. "One?! No way!" Charlie exclaimed. The die shot out red energy at Charlie and reduced his Life Points to normal.
Charlie LP: 79,000→4000
"No, I won't believe it! I activate Lucky Stripe's effect! By using one Overlay Unit, I roll a die and Lucky Stripe's Attack Points are multiplied by the number rolled. "Your Wyvern's Attack Points is 1500 and your Life Points are 700. I just need a four or more and I win!" Charlie rolled the die and it landed on four.
"I still have luck! Lucky Stripes Attack Points are multiplied by four!" Charlie smiled.
Lucky Stripe (ATK: 700→2800, OVU: 3→2)
"It's over! Battle! Lucky Stripe, attack Wyvern Warrior!" Lucky Stripe launched its hand at Wyvern Warrior.
"Luck isn't something you have. It's something you create!" Jonouchi shouted. "I activate my Trap Card: Red-Eyes Spirit! This card allows me to Special Summon one Red-Eyes monster in my Graveyard! Revive! Red-Eyes Black Dragon (ATK: 2400, LV: 7)!"
"That doesn't change anything! I'm still attacking Wyvern!" Charlie shouted.
"Reverse Card, open! Trap Card: Take One Chance!" Jonouchi played his card and a wall of cards appeared in front of him. "This card allows me to select one card in my Graveyard and then activate it!"
Charlie realized what card Jonouchi was trying to get. "But the chances of you getting that card is low!"
"No, I'm definitely get that card." Jonouchi smiled. Jonouchi instantly grabbed the very top card. "I activate Red-Eyes Hermos!"
"Impossible!" Charlie exclaimed.
"Red-Eyes Hermos combine with Red-Eyes! Gearfried, I'm gonna give you the ultimate sword! Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword (ATK: 2400, LV: 7)!" A black sword appeared on the field and Gearfried took it.
"Gearfried's effect! When it's equipped with an Equip Card, one monster on the opponent's field is destroyed!" Gearfried clashed his two swords together and Lucky Stripe disappeared before its attack could hit Wyvern.
"My luck…it's really gone. I end my turn." Charlie lowered his head.
Jonouchi LP: 700, Hand: 0
Charlie LP: 4000, Hand: 0
"My turn! Draw!" Jonouchi drew his card. "Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword increases the Attack Points of the equipped monster by 1000 as well as an additional 500 for every Dragon-type monster on the field and in my Graveyard! With Red-Eyes in my Graveyard, Naked Gearfried gains 1500 Attack Points!"
Naked Gearfried (ATK: 2600→4100)
"Battle! Naked Gearfried, with your twin blades, showcase your ultimate power! Dark Mega Slash! Time-Space Slash!" Naked Gearfried charged forward and slashed at Charlie with its two swords, making him fly back.
Charlie LP: 4000→0

"Alright!" Rua cheered.
"Jonouchi won!" Asuka smiled.
"Impossible…for me to lose to an evil Fusion user…" Charlie muttered.
"I told you; my Fusion is for friendship." Jonouchi said. "Fusion is a part of Duel Monsters, just the same as Xyz. That will never change. It's not the summon method that's evil, but the Duelists that misuse it. As a Dimension Guardian, I'll use Fusion the right way and protect the Xyz Dimension and I won't give up until the very end!"
Akari looked at Jonouchi and listened to every word. The way that he spoke was just like her father whenever he would go out on an adventure. "Kattobingu…" Akari muttered and smiled.
Jonouchi then winced as he felt the burn marks on him sting. "That still hurts." Jonouchi said.
"Come on, I'll take you to my house." Akari offered. "You can all come."
"Thanks, uh…I didn't get your name." Jonouchi said.
"It's Akari. Akari Tsukumo." Akari introduced herself.
Dimension Guardian Camp
"They're taking their time." Aki said as neither group had returned.
"Do you think they ran into some Academia soldiers?" Gongenzaka wondered.
"They are taking too long to return." Reiji looked at the clock on his Duel Disk.
"We should go look for them." Yuzu suggested.
"Yeah, I'm with you." Rin agreed.
Just then, the sound of whistling echoed around them. "What's that?" Sawatari questioned.
"So, this is where you were hiding."
Everyone turned to see someone approaching them. Behind him was a very large dragon with the eyes that showed the galaxy.
"Are you ready to repent?" Kaito asked.
