January 10th, 1946.
A knock sounded on the door of the brownstone. Steve opened the door to find Logan on the other side.
"Logan, good to see you." He said.
"Good to see you too, cap." Logan replied.
"Come on in." Steve said, beckoning Logan to enter.
Steve, Diana and Logan sat around the dining room table.
"I see you guys got yourselves set up pretty well." Logan said.
Steve shrugged. "It's where I grew up. Feels like the right place to come back to. And if we hadn't... Bucky's family would've been out on the street."
Logan shook his head as a grim smile crossed his face. "Nice to have something like that. I left my home behind long ago, never once looked back."
"Where was your old home?" Steve asked.
"Up north, Canada."
"What brought you down here?"
"Long story."
"I'll bet." Steve said. "You'll have to tell us someday."
"Maybe."
"Where do you plan to go, now?" Diana asked.
"Back to Japan." Logan said. "It's where I was before the war. Figure they need as much help as they can putting themselves back together."
"'Back?'" Steve asked.
Logan nodded. "Spent a lot of time there during and after the last big war, when they were on our side. They're good people... Anyone can be, you just gotta give them a chance to be. Anyways, I just wanted to tell you where I was going before I headed out in case you needed someone to fend off the adoring public."
Steve and Diana chuckled.
"I think we can handle them." Diana said.
"We haven't had much trouble so far."
"So I guess this is 'goodbye'?" Diana asked.
Logan scoffed. "Don't count on it, princess. I've been around long enough to know some things come back together no matter what splits them apart. I got a feelin' you ain't seen the last of me when I step out that door."
"Before you go..." Diana said. "James, how old are you?"
Logan stood up from his chair and shot her a wide, toothy grin. "One-hundred and thirteen. Haven't been around as long as you have, but I've got a few tricks up my sleeves."
"Well," Steve said as he, too, stood. "Here's to the best of luck in your travels, James." Steve extended a hand to shake. Logan shook it.
"Here's to the best of luck with you two staying where you are!" Logan said with a grin.
