In the vastness of creation, there are a few things that can make things quite chaotic, but this story is one where things go in an unexpected and yet we do hope a pleasant way, this story is set in an alternate universe one that most people would never imagine till they find themselves in it.
Ben Tennyson has been a plumber for several years, he honestly began his training when he was not even sixteen years old, but before you wonder why is Ben learning about pipes, water, and how to fix the plumbing and water fixtures in a building at such a young age, no, that is not what he was being trained in.
The plumbers that we are talking about are pretty much intergalactic police and peacekeepers, they pretend to work out of a plumbing company but that is simply because Earth is not exactly a planet that has achieved interstellar travel, hence all the times these plumbers have to travel most often than not are in ships designed and built by aliens.
Now I know what most people think, that my story will revolve around those alien conspiracy theories, where aliens crashlanded in the middle of a desert and people are secretly studying the crashed ship in an underground base. I can honestly tell you that no, Area 51 is not a place where aliens have built a factory and showroom where they sell affordable and compact spaceships.
Area 51 I know of however is one that produces high-quality, heavily armed spaceships that only intergalactic warlords can afford. Like Vilgax, he once bought one of those ships, and got blown to pieces when fighting a kid who had a nifty little device strapped on his wrist that allowed him to turn into different aliens, that kid wrecked that cruiser so bad that it was a miracle Vilgax managed to escape before the wreckage burned up as it entered earth's atmosphere.
Now you are wondering who caused that damage? Simple, a ten-year-old boy by the name of Ben Tennyson, and this is the guy whose story we are going to hear about.
Ben Tennyson at the age of eighteen, was walking to meet with the head of the plumbers, it was not an easy thing to do since according to him he had to stop working with his long-time partner and friend Rook. It was at least a good chance for him to spend some time with his girlfriend, maybe then she would finally get the guy serious about their marriage and family plans, his species was very much family-oriented after all.
Who is Rook? He is an alien, a very nice guy, tall, blue, very efficient, and often the one to offer logical decisions to counter the ones Ben came up with as to how to best deal with a situation or problem. He was also quite handy to fix their vehicle, if anything comes to mind that would fit him in terms of someone on earth, I have to say Rook is a kind-hearted, polite gold old country farm boy. You know a guy that usually sees going up in rural communities, like Smallville.
As he walked up to the door of the office Ben feared what this was going to be about, was it how he handled those slavers, they attacked fist, and it was not his fault that he accidentally picked a Necrofriggian, causing all the criminals to scream in terror and falling unconscious which ended up causing them to fall down three flights of stairs. He knocked and saw two familiar faces, one was his grandfather and a smaller person was also there looking at him with a smile and a glint in his eye that made him feel nervous for some reason.
"Will you relax Ben, those crooks are doing just fine, and no I am not going to punish you for causing damage to three flights of stairs of that building, had those aliens stayed in their human forms none of that would have happened, no Azmuth and I and here to tell you that we need you to investigate a potential danger we just learned of."
Max looked at Ben as he sat down on the chair in front of his desk, "The academy is something strange it is literally called Yokai Academy, yes, I know that is not exactly welcoming when one of the words on the title is associated with demons, but as far as we can tell these are humans who are the children between aliens and humans or their descendants, so we need you to go as a student and learn as much possible about these so-called Yokai, we need you to interact and even scan most of them, so that we have an idea of what they are capable, also who is working for Fairy Tale. A terrorist organization that has been working in secret."
Ben told him that he be glad to, except the device he has will not let him do that, "Look grandpa I would love to scan these so-called hybrids, but the Omnitrix I have doesn't let me do that, and the only way I got any DNA from an alien has been pure accidents that happen due to combat, so I don't know how much help I can be when I mess up when changing into my alien forms."
The small alien that was on the desk walked over to Ben, "That is because you need to be more careful when you activate it, with your pudgy fingers I shouldn't be surprised, which is why from now on, I am taking that Omnitrix and giving you a new one that does not require you to actually touch it."
He jumped up to Ben's wrist and without saying a word or even giving him a chance to say anything against this he took off the Omnitrix like it was nothing at all, and then slapped a new one that looked like a black and green bracer on both of his wrist. "There that should take care of it, this has master control so you can stay in an alien form for longer, and you don't need to call out your selected alien form, you just need to think it. You will be able to scan and nobody will be able to tell, and the data will go back to the Codon Stream, which we will analyze and update for our DNA Archives. This is called a Biomnitrix."
"Can we do something about the color, it does stand out," Ben asked him to which he told him that shouldn't be a problem he just told Ben to command his new Omnitrix to go into stealth mode and see what happens when Ben did that the bracer changed and became nothing more than a small tattoo on his wrist, that sort of reminded him of the same appearing as a badge on his body when he changed into an alien form.
"See, nothing major, every command you want to input into this Omnitix is mental more than anything, it also helps with mental manipulation, and mana control, and even comes with a nifty ability to send an emergency backup signal back here, so you can relax Benjamin, we are not sending you to infiltrate that school unprepared."
"Although I must say I find it quite funny that the person who once faced the most feared warlord in the galaxy is afraid of what will happen when he is asked to go and study at a strange new college." Ben's only answer was that he could only say this because he never had to attend a college on Earth.
That is when Grandpa Max decided to drop this little bit of news on Ben, "Your application to the Harem Project has been accepted it seems your friend took your suggestion that you wanted to enter it and did in fact enter the request." Ben nearly fell out of his chair as he told his grandfather that he was only kidding when he told Kai that, why would she take that seriously when it was an obvious joke?
"It doesn't matter, since you have been accepted in the project there is no way for you to leave it, I guess this is another lesson for you to be careful what you wish you because you might just get it, get it?"
Ben finally made it home feeling like this couldn't possibly get worse, if he only knew how wrong he was, as he entered the home he saw his mother, father and sister were getting the table ready for dinner so he decided to help his mom out by getting the food from the kitchen. It was not done but thanks to the abilities of one of his aliens he managed to manipulate time to get the food ready.
He used the speed of one alien to carry the food to the table and even make a double of himself to clean the utensils as they ate, much to his clone's annoyance of not being able to eat some of the food. As the family sat down he decided to drop the bad news, or what he felt was bad news.
"As it turns out Grandpa Max asked me to go to a new college that he found and he enrolled me in it, I honestly don't know how much I will get to study in a place that is literally nothing like we know of, from what people told me, but I will have to live in a dorm there, so I will be gone for at least four years, if not longer."
That is when his father asked him what was the college called, and Ben told him that it was called Yokai Academy, he then heard his mother begin laughing for some strange reason, "Oh, I remember going to Yokai Academy, it was a ton of fun, never a dull moment let me tell you, son, I went to get my bachelors and even went to their medical school, to learn psychiatry, you are going to love it there."
Ben asked her how could she go there if the school apparently is for what people call monsters? Sandra laughed and she made something appear from out of nowhere as she twirled what seems to be a conductor's baton. "Oh, that is simple, I am a witch, so if your aunt. They also have magic classes in that college you know. So you should have no problem, although I wish you learned more than just ten basic spells."
Ben told her he only learned those thanks to the help he got from his cousin Gwen, "Well since you decided to bring up this shocker of a reveal, might as well match it, Grandpa Max told me that I was accepted into the Harem Project." Again he was shocked when his father told him that they in fact know, he was told by the man who was in charge of the project.
"You wanted to shock us, well I wouldn't be surprised that Gwen, and that Kai girl you mentioned before decide to get ahead of the potential candidates to join that harem and want to get fresh with you," Ben told his father to stop it, he just ate, why would Gwen want to be one of his wives, he was her cousin for crying out loud. Sandra told him that she was also an apprentice witch so that means she could want to use this opportunity to increase the population of people with magic powers, now everyone was from the magic dimension.
"And she is part Anodite, you know like grandma Verdona, you know how she and her people think, they will pursue what makes them happy and the laws and restrictions of other species be damned. You know that they are free-spirits that want to focus on enjoying life, I think you once called them the hippies of space."
Ben looked at his sister, "And this coming from a person that not that long ago was one of my worst enemies. You probably regret having that final fight against me, don't you Albedo. You once considered me your enemy, and for some time now you are my sister, and I could be wrong but I don't think anyone in this family considers you anything less than a precious and dear family member."
Albedo looked at Ben and let out a sigh, "You had to bring that up, I told you already when this happened and I somehow became a female permanently, I was shocked at first but you and your parents welcomed me as a family member, I found the joys of family and the warmth I been missing most of my life, as such I consider this to be just me finding my right place in the universe, although I wish I didn't get stuck with white hair and these red eyes, they make look old and the color of my eyes seem to scare people."
Albedo also knew that she created something that she wanted to rival the Omnitrix, and she had succeeded in a sense but the ones that Ben was willing put hers to shame, she was amazed that it was a nanobot-based Omnitrix, one that would fuse with the body of the wielder, making it impossible for anyone to try and steal it, even cutting off an arm would not work, since this version of the Omnitrix would cause the missing limb to regenerate.
If she was going to be stuck as a human female for the rest of her life, she would spend it with her most challenging opponent, her ultimate challenge, and thus hearing about this Harem Project she began to think why would the Plumbers want to test this notion, and so this made her realize that it could be quite beneficial for her to join that harem, in more ways than one.
Ben told them that after the meal he had to go and discuss some things with the person who made the request to have him accepted into the Harem Project, clarification was needed if he was going to have peace of mind especially since he will not return for several years.
This made sense to his mother since she remembered that during her days in that college nobody was allowed to leave the dorms, and they would rarely get to go back to their homes for the holidays. She once felt like the entire campus including the dorms was so enclosed and kept from other people that she felt it was in a separate reality or dimension. She did however tell him not to be too upset or take out his frustrations on her without at first listening to her. She almost had the feeling her son's visit might not be as friendly as some might think it is.
Ben used his high-speed mobility to run towards his home getting quite a few people getting shocked by the speed he was running, so much so that he was actually running on the street and was actually as fast or faster than the cars, and this was on a highway.
As soon as he reached his home, he knew that he would have to have some stern words with Kai, the thing he told her was said as a joke, and yet here she took it as something completely and utterly serious. This harem project was something that he thought was a joke, he never believed that Plumbers HQ would ever make the damn thing, it was against all normal morals and ethical standards in most countries, which includes Japan.
He entered the home and immediately called around to see if Kai was around, which apparently was not the case, seeing he was alone he took the chance to make a little something to eat for himself and maybe get ready for some heated discussion about what Kai ended up doing, cause there is no way that she will not try to defend her actions when they are questioned.
He reheated some of the fried chicken he had in the fridge, the mashed potatoes needed some fresh butter but other than that it was still alright to eat, and to wash this meal down he had one of his favorite slurpy drinks. The plate after being reheated looked like something that came from a fast food joint. He was eating his food till he heard a person walk into the house a little bit tired and like she had been carrying something particularly heavy since she was breathing like she was exhausted.
She walked in to see Ben eating a fried chicken leg, and she couldn't help but laugh for a second before she glared at him, "Look put the chicken down, help me carry and install these power converters, or else this place will never have enough power for the nanites to finish renovating this place. Ben just put his food down and couldn't help but wonder why the hell would nanites be anywhere in their home little let alone apparently using massive amounts of power to do something to their house.
He knew better than to ask Kai while she was giving out orders like this so he did as she told him to do, and once they get done with what she wanted to do, then Ben would have the chance to ask her why the hell this was even necessary. It looks like these were bio-power converters which means they would recycle waste as energy, it was clearly tech that was not from Earth, for some reason he almost felt like they were made by the Tetramands.
"So how long till Looma gets here?" Kai didn't bother to look surprised as she dried her hands as the final piece of equipment was installed. "Two weeks, I am not surprised you figured that out, these have the Red Wind Clan logo on them, but why aren't you asking about the Nanite Queen then?" Ben told her it was because she used Nanites to create the food he was eating and even built that microwave to reheat it, it was very easy for him to realize this since this was exactly the same food they were eating that one time.
"So she remembered the food you both ordered at that fast food joint during that one date you both had. Isn't that nice? Anyways Ben why do seem to be upset with me, you've been glaring at me during the entire installation of this equipment and I need to know if I have done anything to upset you." Ben told her that his grandfather just informed him he was accepted into the Harem project due to her placing a request to be admitted into it.
"It's not my fault, you clearly wanted to be in that project, as you told me if you had a harem maybe then all those girls that were once in love with you wouldn't end up leaving you, so I figured that if you were admitted into the project they having a harem would be quite beneficial for the wives and could make you very happy, win-win," Ben told her that he only said that as a joke, a sarcastic remark at worst, but Kai was quick to mention that the way he mentioned it made it clear that having those girls leave like that hurt his feelings and sounded at least to her like he was genuinely sad about it.
He took a deep breath and a deep look into himself, and let out a sigh, "Alright, I will admit it, I miss being with those girls, but laws of Japan and many other nations prohibit if not consider a Harem a crime, so I had to let go of that idea or I would only get to see one or two during conjugal visits, and I wouldn't want to put any woman through that." To which Kai told him that is the reason why the Plumbers were the ones to test this possible loophole in those laws, they are only applicable to marriages on Earth, but what about marriages on other planets? These laws and practices have no jurisdiction in other planets, and thus the Harem Project was made, and the first marriage under it will tests if it can be accepted by the entirety of planet Earth and its many governments and religions."
It is actually not that hard to realize that this was basically true, the laws of humans only apply on Earth, and each planet had its own forms of governments and laws, so it could be said that space was essentially like being in the equivalent of international waters, "While that is true, I am still angry that you went behind my back and entered a request in my name without even bothering to ask my approval." Ben was clearly not happy that she did that.
Kai looked at him, "And if I thought there was a chance that you would willingly accept this, I would have, but to me, there is always the chance that you would still be restricted to an earth-centric way of thinking. So before you got a chance to blow this due to some outdated and cliche moralist laws and restrictions, I decided to send that request, and to make matters worse you work as a plumber, and yet you were not aware that the Harem Project even existed."
Ben looked at her and began to laugh, "Like I have the time to look into every single research and social project that Plumber HQ is doing or will do, I have to deal with crimes that would make most law enforcement agencies look like a picnic compared to what we have to deal with, interplanetary law enforcement, peacekeeping, and diplomatic missions are not something that can be taken lightly or done quickly."
Kai decided to accept the excuse that he was too busy to even learn about the Project, but she then asked him about this Yokai Academy she heard about and how long till he has to go to that college? Ben didn't even try to hide his shock that she already knew about Yokai Academy and decided to be as blunt as possible. Ben looked and told her he would have to go to that boarding college in a week, they only had a week to do everything they would want because chances are that she will not see him for several years.
Kai asked him what major he was going for to which Ben laughed and said that spending so much time with Upgrade and Azmuth, he was not going for one degree but two, he would focus on Electronic Engineering and Programming, who knows if he ends up married to multiple women, they might need an extremely durable babysitter, a nandroid if you will. This made her laugh, a robotic nanny, and she asked what was next a robot maid? Ben put a stop to her mocking by telling her if she keeps that up they can watch some episodes of an old cartoon called the Jetsons and see if that is impossible.
"Alright one week, but that is going to piss off Looma something awful because it will take her two weeks to get here, she is not going to be happy to finally make it here, hear about the Harem Project, and find out that you are already been gone to that college for a little over a week." Which made Ben tell her that is why he needs to be sure that everything is taken care of that week so that he can leave as soon as possible.
Kai asked him why the hurried to avoid meeting Looma Red Wind? Ben's only remark to that is that Looma was not exactly happy after their engagement came to an end, and an upset Looma could only mean that she will want to beat his skull in to deal with her anger, she was not the top warrior of the Red Wind family for nothing after all. Kai told him that he beat her once already and he only had the Omnitrix at the time, he is much more skilled at using the powers of those transformations, not to mention according to Gwen he managed to learn ten spells, so there is that advantage.
