This is the modified version/a rewrite of an old fanfiction I written years ago. It's a crossover with Ronin Warriors and Ash vs. Evil Dead, and it takes place shortly after Harry2's fanfiction "Ronins on the Hellmouth", which is an ongoing sequel to his previous story "Armour of the Eliminator". Worth a read. This is also AU/a rewrite of the third season of Ash vs. Evil Dead.
Disclaimer: Ronin Warriors, and the anime's characters and properties all belong to Sunrise and Discotek Media. Ash vs. Evil Dead, Evil Dead and the franchise's characters and properties belong to Sam Raimi, Ted Raimi, Bruce Campbell (what the heck, he's the star of the franchise along with the Raimis), Renaissance Pictures, Starz and Lionsgate. The characters James Ferino and Twyla Koji – Ferino belong to fellow Ronin Warriors fan Harry2 and if you wish to use the characters, ask him here on the website. The Lady Ronin Guardians belong to Winter Yuy and if you want to use them, feel free to ask her here on this website as well. Any further characters that will appear in the story, I will add a disclaimer for when that character first appears.
Collision Course
Chapter One. Something Evil This Way Comes
James sighed as he looked outside the window. It had been six months since the Ronin Warriors and the Lady Ronin Guardians defeated their enemies back in Sunnydale after the Ronin Warriors came to the Hellmouth after Glory and Talpa tainted and controlled the Lady Ronin Guardians. After destroying Talpa, the Guardians were freed from the control and they helped defeat Glory, defeating their enemies.
Initially, James was convinced by Faith, Shaw and St. Wolf to stay in Sunnydale, California while the rest of the Ronins along with the Guardians returned to Toyama, Japan. That was until a couple of weeks ago when Giles asked him to reside in the city of Elk Grove, Michigan as there had been suspicion that unusual activity will be occurring at the exact location. James and Twyla have been living at Elk Grove since, keeping an eye out on the event that was to come. While waiting in the wings, James would be training and spending time with Twyla.
So far, things have been quiet. Would it stay that way?
"I think that it's hard to believe that this small town would be the location of the upcoming threat that is coming soon." James said as he walked to the living room.
"I agree," Twyla nodded as she glanced up from the arm chair, "this is a small town after all. Then again, Sunnydale is a small town too."
"That's true but Sunnydale is on a hellmouth, Elk Grove isn't," James glanced around before he took a deep breath and said, "Come to think about it, St. Wolf and Giles had us to come here for a reason. Let's not forget this town had been plagued by these zombies known as Deadites."
"Which is why we are here." Twyla nodded in agreement. "However, they haven't come here so far. Besides, if they do happen to come, Elk Grove's hometown hero Ash Williams will be able to handle these Deadites."
"Don't go flying off the handle just yet, my dear." James quipped. "We've dealt with Hellmouth like things before. We can't rule out zombies or Deadites, whatever our neighbor calls them."
"That's right." Twyla sighed. "Ash Williams lives next door to us."
"Speak of the devil." James perked up as he noticed something on TV. Twyla followed his glance as they both looked to see an advertisement for the grand opening of Ashy Slashy's Hardware Store Emporium.
"Well I'll be." Twyla quipped. "That guy is Ash Williams. Go figure, he'd take this route."
Not too long after that, the couple were watching Antiques Roadshow hosted by an elderly man as a red haired girl was walking towards him. For some strange reason, this was catching his attention, as if something was about to happen.
"And last up we have Amy, who I'm told has made a startling discovery." the man announced as the red head Amy walked over to him with a large book. "I see here Amy that you discovered this item..."
"In the mud." Amy spoke up.
"In the mud."
James was taken aback by the look of the book as it appeared to have an evil looking face for its cover. He took a deep breath, hoping that this was just a publicity stunt. However, something about this book was giving him bad vibes.
"James," Twyla spoke up, pulling him from his thoughts, "I don't think that's any kind of book."
"You're right," James looked at his wife and nodded in agreement, "I don't like the look of it either."
"Is it a spell book?" Twyla asked as James saw the man open up the strange book.
"Not for good witches if that's what you mean." James answered.
"I see you found a book written in Ancient Sumerian," the man said, "Curious."
"Curious, as in valuable?" Amy asked.
"This appears to be some sort of descriptive passage." the man continued on as he looked at the book some more. Then he proceeded to read the Ancient Sumerian writing which caused James to take a startling step back immediately.
"That man does not know what kind of evil he's about to unleash!" James exclaimed in shock.
"What do you mean?" Twyla asked, confused. The couple looked around as the lights flickered in the house as the man on TV continued with the reading.
"I knew it!" James shouted. "He is playing with supernatural fire!"
"What kind?" Twyla asked, startled.
He took a deep breath and managed to calm down before proceeding to explain, "It is the Necronomicon Ex Mortis, known as the Book of the Dead. It holds many spells and incantations, and if someone reads this out loud, it will connect demons of the Netherworld with our own!"
James and Twyla turned around as they noticed that the programming to the TV show had been cut off after the man unleashed the evil to the mortal world.
"This is bad." Twyla stated. "Could this mean..."
"Yes." James nodded. "We'll have to tell Ash Williams about this right away."
Like Ash Williams has a chance against me.
James was startled hearing this unfamiliar voice as there was no one in the house besides himself and Twyla.
Who are you? James demanded, telepathically.
Let me phrase this in words you mortals will understand. I am known as Demon Woman of Fire or Fierce Mother From Hell but in these beknighted times, you can call me Ruby.
Look, Ruby. I don't know what you're planning but whatever it is, it will not work!
And you're going to stop me how? I know who you are, James Ferino, Ronin Warrior, bearer of the Armor of the Eliminator. As for my plan, once Ash Williams is dead, the universe as you know it will be swallowed into darkness.
You wouldn't dare! You're not going to kill Ash Williams! You hear me?! I won't allow it!
James sighed roughly as he sensed losing telepathic contact with the mysterious Ruby. He then looked over at Twyla, who was looking at him with concern.
"James, what's the matter?" Twyla asked.
"Some chick by the name of Ruby sent me a telepathic message," James answered, "She plans to have Ash Williams assassinated, probably in a demonic sort of way."
"Oh no!" Twyla clasped her hands together in shock, "That's not good."
"We have to get to Ash right now!" James declared as the couple stepped forward, preparing to make their way to the hardware store where the grand opening would be taking place. James knew that would be where Ash Williams would be at. This was crucial and every second mattered.
