Hi everyone, this was a 3:00am thought that I couldn't get out of my brain and knew there had to be some hornballs out there who had the same merzona obsession that I do. Let me know if it's any good but honestly I'm just going to keep writing it regardless because I am starved for this content. cheers

Arizona POV

It was the night after Callie took Sofia to New York. Arizona Robbins didn't know what to do with herself so here she was at Joe's with a drink in her hand. Staring at a wall. Numb. After the terror that was the past few months, she had won, and yet she had lost everyone. Her daughter was across the country, her ex-wife has moved on with her shiny new Penny, and she didn't know which of her friends she could trust to be in her corner anymore. Life was feeling quite low right now. She wasn't quite sure what to do with herself but a drink sure felt like a good place to start.

It takes a while before she realizes someone is trying to talk to her. It takes less time to realize she wants nothing to do with the person by her side. Meredith Grey of all people was trying to talk to her right now. What could she possibly have to say? She chose her side. Anger started to flare up inside her as she turned toward the dirty blonde, "what the fuck could you honestly have to say to me right now that could change what you did in that court room?". Meredith only stared dumbfounded back at the blonde, clearly never seeing the usually perky surgeon behave this way. Now fumbling over her words, Meredith continued her weak attempt of an apology before Arizona quickly cut her off again "Listen Meredith, I know we've never been that close. Even those we survived a fucking plane crash together I get that you've never had much interest in me or my life. So stop apologizing. And stop talking to me. Because we aren't friends." With that, Arizona shot up from the bar stool and turned to leave. She was almost through the door when she heard "At least let me buy you your drinks tonight! I owe you that." Arizona froze and turned around eying the woman at the bar. It seemed Meredith had the magic words tonight because Arizona really didn't feel like leaving the bar this sober. She came back to her seat and grumbled, "you sure fucking do".

And the night progressed in silence. The two women sat side by side drinking copious amounts of alcohol with absolutely no interaction between them. The silence was tense and filled with unsaid words. Despite Arizona's rage towards the woman by her side, she was grateful for the company of another human being. No one else had bothered to come looking for her tonight and although she couldn't admit it, it was nice to have someone next to her. Even if that someone thought she shouldn't have custody of her child.

Arizona could never quite pinpoint Meredith. She prided herself on her ability to read people but there were always question marks around Meredith. She thought when they first met that the dark and twisty woman would pair well with her perky disposition. She'd be lying if she didn't say she found her quite attractive at first. That is, until she found out about her other worldly love for Derek Shepherd. It was a fleeting thought, but Arizona had been sure Meredith was gay. Gaydar can't be right every time.

And through the years they had gone through every possible trauma together. They could be so bonded one day and then seem like total strangers the next. The woman was irritating. And now here she was by her side buying her drink after drink in silence.

Meredith POV

What should she say? Arizona of course had every right to be upset with her. Especially tonight. But even knowing that, Meredith felt drawn to stay by the blonde's side tonight (even if that meant draining her bank account on booze). Something about Arizona had always drawn Meredith in. Even when she found her perkiness far too sickening, the woman was a badass and she respected that.

Meredith knew choosing to testify for Callie would be a hard hit to Arizona but what was she supposed to do? Callie has been her friend for so long. It didn't feel right not testifying to her character. But the lawyers went so low. Meredith felt so out of control in the situation and all she could think about was how hurt the blonde must have been feeling. It ate her up inside. And then of course when she found out Arizona was going to be the bigger person and let Sofia go to New York? Well then she really felt bad.

But what could she say? She needed to think of something or else they'd both be at the hospital getting their stomachs pumped. How do you even go about apologizing for something like this? Whatever it is she had to say something. Just. Say. Something.

"I didn't realize they were going to ask such hurtful things."

Arizona cackled in disbelief as she threw her head back. Uh oh. "You didn't think they would try to tear apart my character by spinning every little detail if my life into horror stories of terrible parenting? Wow! That makes everything so much better!"

Well at least they were talking, Meredith mused.

"I'm sorry! Okay? I really had no idea, I thought they were just going to ask me about Callie and what I thought of her as a mother and then they would do the same of you. I never had any intentions of slandering your name, Arizona I swear" Meredith replied in earnest. Arizona pulled the biggest eye roll Meredith had ever seen, "well the did, didn't they." It wasn't a question. Meredith went to speak but Arizona cut her off - "I really don't want to talk to you right now. I'm going to go to the bathroom, and when I come back I would really rather you be gone.". Arizona stumbled over to the bathroom leaving a concerned Meredith behind.

Arizona POV

Arizona couldn't have been in the bathroom for more than a minute when the door creeped open behind her. She knew immediately who it was. Arizona turned around with fire in her eyes and yelled exasperatedly "what do you want with me? Seriously, why cant you just leave me the fuck alone? You've made your pathetic attempt at an apology known and now you can go off and feel better about yourself okay? Seriously Meredith, why are you still here?". The two women stared at each other for a minute. Both burning inside before Meredith shockingly yelled back "I don't know! I don't know why I'm here trying to apologize to you. I know I'm the last person you want to see but I just couldn't leave you alone tonight." Arizona started to heads towards the door but Meredith got in her way and continued "I knew you'd be alone and I couldn't bare to think of that after what you've gone through. And I am truly sorry and I never meant to-"

Arizona turned back towards her and pushed her into the side of the stall with her arms on both sides of her. She'd had enough talking. "You want to be with me tonight? Then no more talking." And with that Arizona crashed her lips (albeit quite sloppily) into Meredith's own. Electricity jolted between them. Arizona stepped back in pure surprise. Yes, she felt like companionship tonight but she definitely wasn't thinking she'd find it in Meredith Grey. And what was that feeling? She didn't have enough time to process it before Meredith Grey was back on her. Lips locked, hair being pulled, moans and hands surrounding her. She hadn't been kissed like this since.. well since the last time she was in this bathroom kissing someone. Although this somehow felt more intense than that. Arizona was starting to feel her body react to the bites and licks and.. She must really be drunk. And with that thought, Arizona reluctantly unraveled herself from Meredith's arms. She couldn't be kissing Meredith Grey. She had been kissing Meredith Grey. She looked into the other woman's eyes to find a the most wonderful mixture of lust and surprise. But she couldn't dwell on that thought any longer as she turned abruptly and sped out of the bar leaving a confused Meredith behind her.

She was really going to have a terrible hangover in the morning.
