Resident Evil: More than a Rookie
Chapter 1: The New Rookie
Today was a big day, as a young man in his twenties entered what appeared to be a police station or more specifically the Raccoon City police department. The man walks to the front desk, to see an older black man waving over to him. "Is there something I can help you with?" the older black man asked. "Hi, I'm here to find Chief Irons' office. I'm the new S.T.A.R.S. recruit," the young man explained. The older black man raised an eyebrow, before looking at the files and seeing that there was someone there to meet the chief. "Ah, you must be the new rookie? Well then, the chief's office is up one floor and past the library. His door is the second door you see when you enter the hallway," he said, pointing at the stairs that are next to a larger statue. "Thank you. Oh I'm Michael by the way. Michael Kapoor," the young man named Michael introduced himself. The older black man smiled and nodded, "Marvin Branagh, senior police officer," he introduced himself, wishing luck to Michael before going back to what he was doing.
Michael soon heads to the office and sure enough the door was already open as indicated by the voices inside coming from two people. As Michael walked in, someone yelled at him pretty loud. "Finally! Where the hell have you been?!" a big mustached man exclaimed, looking rather annoyed, as he leaned against a desk. He wasn't alone however as a blond man with shades was standing there, crossing his arms. "Sorry I'm late sir, I just moved here yesterday and I'm still getting used to the city, let alone this being my first day at the station," Michael apologized. The mustached man scoffed, thinking otherwise. "That is no excuse for keeping me waiting! And it's CHIEF to you!" the chief exclaimed, as Michael winced at the reprimanding. Luckily the blond man with shades decided to vouch for Michael.
"Actually chief, he has arrived on time. I believe it is you that should be more attentive on time," the man said calmly. The chief appeared to be annoyed by this remark, as he looked at the calm blond man. "Ugh, fine Wesker. I'll let this slide once," the chief stated, changing his demeanor in a blink of an eye. Once that was done, the man named Wesker turned to Michael, who seemed somewhat intimidated by the calm man. "I believe it's time I introduce you to the rest of the team," Wesker said as Michael nodded. The two walked out of the chief's office and saw that there were six people who looked at the new guy curiously. "Attention everyone, I would like to introduce you to our new recruit, who will be joining us from here on out," the man named Wesker stated. "Hello everyone, it is nice to meet you all. My name is Michael Kapoor, I hope we get along well," Michael introduced himself.
One of them chuckled, as Michael turned to see that it was a man with dirty blond hair. "Didn't think the new guy would be pretty respectful, let alone on the first day. The name's Richard Aiken, communications expert. Pleased to meet you," Richard introduced himself, as Michael shook his hand. "Same to you as well," Michael said. The next person to introduce themselves to Michael was some guy named Forest and one by one Michael greeted the others. Just then three people entered the office, as they appeared to be curious as to what was going on. "Hey guys, what's going on?" a female S.T.A.R.S member asked. "Oh hey Jill, we're just introducing ourselves to the new recruit. He's joining us starting today," Richard said. The woman named Jill was surprised by this news, but shook it off as she talked with Michael. "Oh you must be the new recruit? Well then, I'm Jill Valentine, pleased to meet you. I hope you and I can work well together," Jill said. "The pleasure is mine, the name is Michael Kapoor, I also hope we can get along well," Michael introduced himself, as Jill smiled and nodded.
Next up was a tall guy with a beard, who appeared to be twirling a revolver. "The name's Barry Burton, kid. But you can just call me Barry. I'm the weapons expert of the team, so if you are in need of some advice regarding a weapon, I'm your guy," Barry said, as Michael nodded. The next guy to introduce himself was a lean man with brown hair. "Chris Redfield, pleased to meet you," Chris introduced himself, offering a hand. "Same to you as well," Michael said, shaking Chris's hand. Lastly, the man named Wesker introduced himself. "Albert Wesker, but you will address me as sir," Wesker said, crossing his arms. "S-Sir yes sir," Michael said. "Now then, I am the leader of S.T.A.R.S.'s Alpha team and as such, I assigned you to be apart of my team," Wesker stated. Now this surprised Michael, but he thought about it later as he listened to what his captain had to say. "As much as I want to give you a tour around the station and give your first assignment, I have important matters to take care of, so I leave it to Miss Valentine to help with that," he said, looking over to Jill. Jill was surprised by this order, but complied as orders are orders. "If you follow me please," Jill said, as Michael nodded and followed the brunette.
A Few Minutes Later
Jill showed the new recruit around the station, which was the showers, weapons locker, etc. As the two toured around the station, they talked for some time. "So Jill…I gotta ask, why do we really need an elite team if the city has a population of like 100,000?" Michael asked. "Well you see, the mayor formed this team due to not only an increase in regular ordinary crimes, but also terrorism," Jill said. "Terrorism? In a small city like this?" Michael said, raising an eyebrow. "You will be surprised by what people can do no matter where they are at," Jill said, as Michael nodded. The last room in the tour was a room meant only for Chief Irons. "Uh…wasn't the chief's room at the S.T.A.R.S office?" Michael asked. Jill smirked, "You see that room you entered actually belongs to Wesker, as we have a joke regarding the fact that the chief is sharing the room. This room however belongs to the chief and well, it's just that…let's just say if you were to ever enter the room, be prepared to see a huge collection of taxidermy and trust me when I say that he has a huge collection," Jill said. "Duly noted," Michael said, looking ready to change the subject.
Once the tour was done, the two headed back to the office as they were talking about Michael's first assignment. "Wait, my first assignment is basically paperwork?!" Michael nearly exclaimed. "Yup and not the exciting kind of paperwork," Jill joked, as the two chuckled. Soon they entered Wesker's office, as he stood up. "Ah good, you arrived. Here are your assignments," Wesker said, handing the two their assignments. Michael takes a look into his assignment and it appears he was assigned surveillance duty, whereas Jill was assigned parking duty. Once they were briefed about their tasks, the two left the office. "Oh by the way Michael, after work me and some of the team are heading over to Emmy's. I was wondering if you wanted to join us, so that way we can get to know you more," Jill offered. "Well I have no plans tonight, so yeah I'm game," Michael said, as Jill smiled. "Sweet, I'll wait for you when you are done," Jill said before leaving for her duties.
A Few Hours Later
Michael yawned in tiredness, as he finished surveillance duty. Changing into his casual clothes, which consisted of a green flannel shirt, a Pearl Jam t-shirt, gray jeans, and black Converse sneakers, Michael left the locker room. He saw that Jill was there waiting for him, as she was dressed in her casual clothes, which was a black leather jacket, a blue tank top, black jeans, and black combat boots. "Oh hey Jill," Michael greeted the brunette as she smiled at him. "Hey Michael, are you ready?" she asked, as Michael nodded. She noticed that Michael was wearing a Pearl Jam t-shirt. "I didn't know you listened to Pearl Jam?" she said, sounding impressed. "Wait, you listen to Pearl Jam too?" Michael asked, sounding surprised. "Well yeah, I mean it's one of my favorite bands," she said. "I think I just found myself a new friend," Michael said. "Awww, aren't we not friends from the beginning," Jill pouted playfully, as Michael was caught off guard. "Well, I…uh…" Michael was stammering, trying to think of something to say, when Jill laughed. "Relax, I'm just teasing you. Anyways come on, the others are waiting for us," she said, as Michael nodded. The two got in her car, "Emmy's here we come!" she said and soon she drove them to the diner.
A Few Minutes Later
The two soon arrived at the diner to see that the others were already there, as indicated by the parked cars. "I think they're already here, come on let's go inside," she said, as the two entered the diner. Chris, Barry, and Wesker sat at the same table, whereas the other sat at a different table. Some of the others seemed unfamiliar, yet appeared to be in S.T.A.R.S. "About time you showed up, Jill!" some guy with brown spiky hair waved over at both Jill and Michael. "Oh looks like you also brought the new guy as well!" the same guy said, smirking. He approaches Michael with his hand out. "Brad Vickers! Nice to meet you," he greeted in a friendly manner. "Michael Kapoor, nice to meet you too," Michael said, shaking his hand. Soon Michael was introduced to both Kenneth and Enrico before sitting down with the others. "Well now that we're all here, might as well start with the celebration, huh?" Chris asked. "Might as well, cause I'm starving," Brad said, as everyone except Wesker laughed.
Once everybody got their menus and picked out what they wanted, they all waited for the waitress to bring their orders. Jill stands up, grabbing everyone's attention. "I would like to say something," she said, as everyone looked at her. Grabbing her drink and raising it up, she continued, "I would like to make a toast to our newest member of S.T.A.R.S.," she said. "It has only been a few hours since we met him, but already I'm excited about the future with him and what he's capable of," she said with an infectious smile on her face as she looked at Michael who was aware of the attention, but blushed. "Michael! I will be the first to officially welcome you to our team!" she said. Everyone soon raised their glasses and welcomed Michael. "Ah thanks guys, I really appreciate it," Michael said, blushing at the warm welcome. Soon the food arrived, as everyone dug in.
While eating, Jill decided to ask Michael some questions. "So tell us about yourself?" she asked, as everyone stared at Michael, wanting to know his story. "Well ok, what do you guys want to know?" Michael asked. "Anything really, like what you did before joining the team," Chris said. Michael thought about it and decided to talk about himself. "Well before joining the team, I did serve in the Marine Corps," Michael said, surprising them. "Wait, you were a Marine?" Brad asked. "Yeah, I started right after high school and served four years," Michael said. "You're young like Jill over here and she was in Delta Force," Barry said. "Wait, you were in Delta Force?" Michael asked. "Yeah, I was in Delta Force before I got recruited," Jill said. "I was in the Air Force and so was Chris here," Barry said. "Damn, it seems you guys have a lot more experience than me," Michael said. "Don't undermine yourself Michael. I have seen your files, I hear you were top in your platoon and were given offers to join the Army Rangers, Delta Force, and the Green Berets," Wesker said calmly.
"That's pretty impressive," Jill said. "Well I was considering one of those three, when my superior officer told me about this team. He said that given my skills on the field, I had what it takes to join. Not only that, my superior officer already sent my files to the RPD even before I made my decision," Michael explained. "Your superior officer had made the right decision then," Wesker said. Soon everybody continued with their meal and while they were at it, the others noticed how both Michael and Jill were getting comfortable with each other. "So how are you enjoying your meal?" she asked Michael. "Man whoever made this is a real godsend. I mean the food I had in Los Angeles is nothing compared to this diner. I really should thank you for inviting me to this place," Michael said with a lot of enthusiasm, as Jill giggled at his response. "Well I'm glad that you enjoyed it. We should come here again whenever we have nothing to do. It is a good spot to hang out too," she said, as Michael nodded. "Yeah maybe we should," Michael said, as he blushed but smiled at Jill.
"Looks like you two are getting along so well," Enrico jokes, as everyone except Wesker laughed. "Hey if I didn't know any better, I would say Jill's hitting on the new guy and it's not even the first day," Brad added, as both Michael and Jill blushed in embarrassment, whereas the others just laughed. "Alright that is enough you two, we are here to celebrate the new recruit's first day, not rib him," Wesker said, with a serious look. Soon both Enrico and Brad stopped with the jokes. Wesker sighed and shook his head, "Please excuse me, I just remembered that I have some business to take care of," he said, getting up and leaving. "Man, is he always like this?" Michael asked Chris. Chris didn't know how to respond when Barry decided to answer him. "Trust me kid, he may be a real piece of work, but he's our leader and a good one at that. He'll be there when you need him," Barry explained, as Michael nodded.
An Hour Later
Soon everybody finished up, as they all left the diner. Luckily Wesker took care of everything even before they ordered anything. "Anyways I want to thank you guys for the hospitality. It really was nice getting to know you all. I'll see you all in the morning," Michael said, as everyone nodded, before wishing each other good night. "Here I'll drop you off at your place," Jill offered, as Michael accepted the offer. The two got in her car and drove to wherever Michael lived. While driving, the two talked for sometime regarding their lives at the military and what they did before joining S.T.A.R.S. Soon they arrived at Michael's place, as Michael got out of the car. "Thanks for the ride home, I hope things will go well for me here," Michael said. "No problem and don't worry you'll fit in well here, I'll guarantee you that," she said. After wishing each other good night, the two went their separate ways. Michael enters his apartment room, as the place was spotless given how he had just moved in and still needed to settle everything. Changing into his pajamas, Michael drifts off to sleep with a smile on his face as he couldn't stop thinking about what happened today. 'Man I really hope things will go well for me here,' he thought, before sleeping.
Note: Hey guys, I decided to write a Resident Evil fanfiction for the first time after a friend told me to write one. I decided to make a male OC and ship him with one of the best girls in Resident Evil which is Jill of course. Now of course, the first few chapters are going to start slow given that I don't want to immediately rush in to the main story without some background and all that jazz. Anyways hope you can support this story and always have a nice day or night
