Sequel to The Black Lagoon:
Disclaimer: I do NOT own Ghost Hunt at all.
Dealing with the real world is harder than dealing with an isolated island, but the curse is still active.
Chapter 1: May I Speak?
Naru Pov
It's been six days since we returned from Black Lagoon, for us, it's been ten years but for the others only ten minutes. I'm not even sure how to adapt to that.
"You know," Mai interrupts my thoughts as she places my favorite tea in front of me, I lift my gaze to see her go around the table and bend down to attend to our babies since they were playing in the playpen. I couldn't help but smile warmly seeing my family together. It's still so surreal that Mai gave me children, she made me a husband and a father and I don't regret it.
Six days ago, if anyone told me this would happen, I would be thinking they are crazy. Mai we have been through so much, yet, one thing doesn't change. I love you, I can't live without you.
"What is it?" I turn to grab the handle of my tea cup and lift it to drink it.
"Did you take notice of how everyone is looking at us? Are we that weird? I mean…. It's been ten minutes for them and us ten years. We have lived like two decades more than them." Mai leans down to kiss Ayame's small head as I leaned back on my chair after finishing my drink.
"We just have to play it by ear by this point, we still have to solve my mother's situation and that woman. Somehow the curse is still active as it is."
"That would be a lot of ears, then," Mai slumps her shoulders, so I stood up from my chair and went up to her, bending down to kiss the top of her head. I can feel her heart beating with anxiety. Mai leans into me, closing her eyes.
"What's wrong?"
"Well, we'll be moving to your home tomorrow, everything is almost packed. Did you know that we need to buy lots of clothes, I know Gene and Ayame are still so small, but what Gene told us, they will begin to grow normally. I heard that babies outgrow their clothes fast. This feels so strange to me, like I'm dreaming so I'm scared, going back to society is scary. I miss our old home." she frowns.
I stare at my wife for a long moment, trying to find a way to find an answer.
"Yes, I understand, I feel the same way, I miss the Black Lagoon." I agreed while lifting Mai in my arms and walking her toward my table. Mai's eyes soften and run her hand on my chest, caressing it. My insides warm up from the gesture. At least her anxiety left her.
I love holding her after all these years.
"My Naru knows how to cheer me up. Oh, I picked a room for the twins at our new home. I think they may love it, so you have to help me decorate it. Also, is Lin-san back? He said he needed to talk to us." I place her on top of my desk and place my hands on each side of her locking her in place.
"Naru?" she looks at me, but couldn't help but cup my cheeks.
"What is my silly boss doing?" she teases.
"Just watching you, but I'm sure Lin wants to talk about the case, he told me through the phone that he found something."
"That's great, we can get that ghost out of our backs." she shivers at the memories, making me fist my hands.
I can't get rid of her being stabbed. That ghost will pay for that.
"Naru, I'm fine, relax okay," Mai whispers, kissing my forehead. I have forgotten she can feel my heartbeat in anger.
"Naru, we are not fine you know that right? We need lots of healing, but one thing is true, you are the only thing that makes sense. We have changed so much over the last ten years, or ten minutes in this time zone. So don't overthink it. We've been through worse." she tries to ease me as I lift her old injured hand, seeing her scar guilt plague me.
I should have popped us out.
"As I told you before Naru, it's fine, while you're alive it's all it matters." she caresses my hair. I pressed her hand against my cheek.
"Let's just focus on the present and retrain ourselves to live in this world now. We aren't going back to the Black Lagoon, and let's make a lot of memories and take lots, and lots of pictures." Mai leans forward to kiss my cheek, wrapping her arms around me and giving me a tender hug.
I rubbed her back, holding her tight.
"It's only us and our babies Naru, no one else. I have no one but you guys." I pulled back to look deeply into her eyes.
"If we forget each other again,"
"Again?" Mai gave a bitter statement as I nodded taking her hand.
"That woman is powerful, she manage to make us time travel or whatever she did, and I forgot about you."
"Don't remind me, that was painful."
"Then you know how it will go. Remember what we talk about, murphy law, let it play out, but this time let's be persistent Mai. One thing I learned was that I was transfixed with you, and I have no bloody clue which drove me crazy. Just go after me, and I will do the same. Not even with our memories wiped we can't stop loving each other." I told her.
"I won't stop going after you, I know you wouldn't either, I confirm that two days ago. This is crazy, how can we love each other like this? This isn't normal." she giggles, but I shrug at her.
"It doesn't bother me for a second, I want to continue to love you even more," I admit blushing hard. Mai squeals, covering her face.
"Why are we acting like teens?"
"Because we are?" Mai lowers her hands and looks at me seriously.
"This is so freaking confusing to me, I'm twenty-nine, not nineteen, yet, I'm in my teen body." She complains pressing her forehead on my shoulder.
"I know," I rub her back, then she lifts it and looks deeply in my eyes. Our joined hearts began to beat crazy, as I watch her lick her lips, feeling myself tempted, feeling my blood boil for her.
She drives me crazy, I can't get enough of her.
I pull her closer to me making her gasp, but then she surprises me and wraps her legs around my waist and her arms around my shoulder.
"Why Mai, do you wish for a raise?" I teased causing her to smile widely as I press my nose against her. Now remembering what we did two days ago.
I want to make love to her again, I can't get enough of her.
"Why Shibuya-kun, why makes you think that? Aren't I just here to make your precious tea? Why would I need a raise?" she teased, making me tickle her sides watching her burst out laughing, but I slow down and heaved hard, she looks at me with that smile that melts me, making me fall in love with her all over again.
I love her smiles, I have no clue how I can make her smile like that. I don't get it.
I leaned forward to kiss her lips, when the door opens behind us, making us freeze.
Mai and I stare at each other as Lin's voice echoes behind us.
"Noll, Mai, I need to tell you... Oh boy, what does this scene look familiar to me?" Mai and I turned to see a stun Lin looking at us as I pulled back and Mai clears her throat and jumps down next to me.
"The ship six days ago, I remember now, when you were on top of her, sorry for interrupting but this is more important." Lin shakes his head. Mai and I burst out blushing hard as Mai lowers her head in embarrassment.
"This is going to take a long time, and this time is what it looks like, hey, at least no bird poop this time." Mai lamely joked giving a stiff laugh trying to distract from the embarrassment causing me to look at her but didn't comment on it.
"I'll make sure to lock up next time," I told her as Mai slaps my shoulder blushing harder.
"Don't feed to the embarrassment," Mai hissed causing me to look away to not show my smile. Lin shakes his head.
"I recommend you two have a private room, but that's not the point I'm here. Um, your mother and father are here." Lin said but before I could say anything, my mom and dad entered my office and my mother gave me a stern look over Mai. Mai, face ashen looking back at me.
"I'm not ready," she whispers, her hands trembling. I slip my hand on hers, to assure her.
"I'm here," I let her know, and Mai simply leans into my arm.
"I came here in peace, can we sit? Lin be a dear and bring us tea." Leulla orders. Lin nods at her and turns to leave as I watch my parents take a seat in front of us.
"How do I owe this pleasure?" I question her, while I guided Mai to sit on my chair, she wasn't looking too good.
"Your mother came because she has something to say and for the record, I was never against you two, I have no clue what this Black Lagoon is, and your mother refuses to tell me and truth to be told, I don't want to know." Martin lay his cards on the table as though a weight was lifted from him.
"Thank you, it means a lot, Mr. Davis. I... know we met before, but I want to officially say, nice to meet you, I'm Mai Taniyama, and I'm your son's wife. We've been married for ten years, and we made twins from the product of our love. You raised a good man, even though he's a narcissist, but he changed a lot over the years. Living in the Black Lagoon made us change a lot. You have no idea how much I love your son. He's my life, and I will always protect him and love him." Mai blushed telling my father this. I felt shy by this, but proud of my Mai.
"Thank you, even though it's been six days for us. This is going to take time to get used to." Martin shakes his head and Mai turns to face Leulla.
"If you wish to separate us, as I told you in the hospital you may try, but it won't work even the dead tried. We already lost a boy, so I understand you completely. It's not easy at all. I promise we broke the curse, Naru won't die any time soon. If he dies, then I will as well. You have no idea how connected we are." Mai said feeling Mai's heart pound hard, but she was terrified by this.
Mai looks up at me and I gave her an assured smile of approval. Mai grabs my hand and held it gently.
Lin returns with two cups of water and hands them over to my parents. Then he glances over at the playpen, Mai takes notice as well and smiles sweetly at Lin.
"Do you want to play with them?" Mai beams, Lin shakes his head removing his gaze from our kids, and looks back at Mai.
"Later, I have some work to do," he said.
My mother interjected.
"May I speak now?" she looks dead serious at us.
"You may, but breaking up is not in the conversation. If you keep this up Mother, you will lose a son, and I don't want to go there." I threaten, getting so tired of this. Mai pulls on my arm.
"Naru! Mrs. Davis, don't listen to him, you won't lose him." Mai nervously laughs as Leulla slumps her shoulders.
"May I speak now?" she simply asks. We both nodded at her.
"I want to apologize to you two, I didn't know about the loss of your child. I mean that's not what I wanted to say, well yes…."
"Well no one did, it's fine." Mai tried her best to make her feel at ease, Leulla nods, looking over her husband. Martin takes a hold of her hand giving her comfort.
"Leulla, calm down and tell them what you told me," My father tells her giving her support. Leulla nods, relaxing even more.
"Mai, welcome to the family, I apologize for being overprotective, I was afraid, I already lost a child, so the fear of losing Oliver ate me after learning that you two came back from The Black Lagoon. Mai now that you're a Mom, you understand me right?"
"I do," Mai felt more relaxed almost tears spilling out.
"Good, good, I won't be in the way anymore and have my blessing. You two have been married for ten years in ten minutes for us. Even if I try to get in the way, I'm sure nothing will separate you two, not even me. So please make my son happy, and if he does something to hurt you, let me know, and I'll put him in his place." My mother was dead serious as Mai burst out crying.
Our joined hearts felt great relief, making me want to just throw myself back and sigh so badly.
"So you're not mad at me anymore?" Mai questions trying to grasp the reality of this.
Oh thank God, she came around, I don't have to fight this anymore. I felt so much relief, wanting to jump with joy.
"I was never mad, I ship you two, I think you're the best thing that happen to my Oliver. I have never seen him so happy in the span of a few days. Now he's a father, and I'm still wrapping my head over this. I can see he loves you to death and he's a person that won't let go once he sets his eye on it. Seriously Mai welcome to the family as well I can't wait to spend time with my grandkids…. Oh gosh, Martin, we have grandbabies." it sounded like she just realized it as Mai almost fainted.
"Mai!" I bend down as Mai looks at me tears on her cheeks.
"Am I dreaming?"
"No, you're stuck with me," I assured her, Mai burst out crying and wraps her arms around me, holding me tight as my parents and Lin watch, smiling with joy at the display.
"My love, we don't have to separate. I would have died if we did. I love you so much Naru." I closed my eyes, leaning my head against her.
"Me to Mai, I would have died without you by my side."
"Noll, sorry to interrupt, but I need to tell you something," Lin calls out, causing Mai and I to pull away and I turned to him.
"Yes?"
"I found the asylum, um... this is another part I wanted to speak to you about."
"What about it?" I was now worried, and he sighs shaking his head.
"Well yes, the asylum does exist,"
"But?" Mai questions, grabbing my arm tightly.
"It was destroyed by a fire a year ago, along with all the information."
I hope you guys enjoy the first chap, is short, but I wanted to resolve the mother's situation first. I don't want it to be the main focus and Naru and Mai need some break. This book is focused on Naru and Mai's recovery and trying to get rid of the lady ghost,(Time travel and dark theme still active just like in the first book. Also the black Lagoon)
Please leave a review and tell me what you think. Should I continue? Are you guys sick of Too much Naru and Mai?
