Chapter 1-I'm getting us out
T-dog's P.O.V
It felt as if time slowed down as he fell. He watched the key and could see Merle off to the side, reaching for it. The key fell down the drain. "I'm sorry," T-dog says as he quickly gets up.
"You did that on purpose!" Merle Dixon shouts at him.
"I'm sorry," T-dog says as he moves towards the stairs.
"Wait, don't leave me, man!" Merle shouts in despair. T-dog stops.
"T-dog, we gotta go, man," Morales says. T-dog says frozen.
"Morales chain that door shut. Do you understand? Do not let those geeks get us," T-dog says to Morales, who nods. "Go," Morales quickly leaves, and T-dog sees him shut the door. T-dog looks at his bag and Dale's tools. T-dog looks at Merle, who is staring at him in shock.
"Now we're both going to die," Merle says.
"Shut up," T-dog says as he goes to his bag. He opens it. "We got enough food and water to last us a day or two."
"Well, what about these handcuffs?" Merle asks.
"I don't know," T-dog says as walkers start to hit the door. They slam on the door trying to get onto the roof. T-dog sighs as he grabs the tools and his bag and takes them down to where Merle was.
"That hacksaw might do something," Merle comments as he looks at the tool.
"This hacksaw isn't going to cut through those handcuffs," T-dog argues.
"I wasn't going to use 'em for the cuffs," Merle says. T-dog's eyes widen as he realizes Merle's plan.
"No way in hell. I'm going to get us out of this," T-dog says. Merle chuckles as he lays his head back.
"If you do, I won't kill you," Merle says as T-dog sits down. He looks at the radio in his hand. "Don't even try. You really think they'd come back for us. A nigger and Redneck trash. We mean nothing to 'em," Merle says. "Should have taken your chance to leave. Now the last thing you'll see is me,"
"The rest may not come for us. But Daryl will," T-dog says.
"Yes, my baby brother will," Merle says as T-dog stares at him. Merle was a tall man with a muscular build. He had short brown hair and blue eyes. T-dog was a tall, muscular man with a bald head and black eyes. "Might as well get some sleep," Merle says as he lays his head back. T-dog sighs as he looks at the sky.
Shane's P.O.V
Shane Walsh walked up to Glenn after the group had gotten back. Rick had gone off with Lori and Carl. "What happened on the roof?" Shane asks Glenn. Glenn was a man of average height with an athletic build. He had black hair and dark brown eyes. Shane was a tall, muscular man with an athletic body. He had dark brown hair and eyes. Glenn looks at him. "Everything was going good, and then Rick came into town on a horse and started shooting walkers. They blocked us inside of the department store, and Merle didn't help when he started to shoot walkers. T-dog and Merle got into a fight that ended with Rick handcuffing Merle to a pipe. After we found out the sewer was of no use, we decided to cover ourselves in the blood and guts of the walkers, and Rick and I walked through the streets. He gave T-dog the keys, and we got the mustang the box truck, and I don't know what happened after that," Glenn explains. Shane nos as he turns to leave. "Hey, Shane."
Shane turns back around and looks at the younger man. "We're going to save them, right? Merle may be a dick, but he doesn't deserve this, and T-dog deserves it even less."
"We're going to save 'em, Glenn," Shane says. Glenn nods as Shane walks over to Morales. Morales says something to his wife before he walks over to Shane. Morales was about the same height as T-dog. He had a good build. He had short black hair and a thin beard. He had blue eyes.
"You need to fill in the parts that Glenn couldn't?" Morales asks Shane, who nods.
"We were all in a hurry. Jacqui and Andrea were the first two, and as T-dog was coming to the door, he stopped and went back to save Merle. He tripped and dropped the key. He stayed, I think out of guilt, to help Merle. He told me to chain the door, and I did. They are alive. Those walkers aren't getting on that roof," Morales explains to Shane.
"Did they have any supplies?" Shane questions.
"Yeah, T-dog had some," Morales answers.
"I can't imagine you'd be willing to go back," Shane says.
"I'm sorry, but I can't but my family through that again, and it will be dark by the time we get there," Morales says, and Shane could hear the shame in his voice.
"I understand. I do," Shane says. "I'm taking a group there tomorrow. I may not like Merle, but T-dog is my friend,"
"Daryl should be back by then," Morales says.
"I'll take him, Glenn, and I don't know who else," Shane says. Morales nods as Shane walks away.
T-dog's P.O.V
T-dog was looking over the roof and down at the city. "What are you thinking about there?" Merle questions after he sets his water bottle down.
"When we were coming into the city, I saw a hardware store close to the tank. That could have bolt cutters," T-dog tells him.
"Great plan," Merle says sarcastically. "One question. How do you plan on getting past the walkers? You got walkers trying to tear you open at that door and on the streets."
"Same way Glenn and Rick got to the truck," T-dog says. He goes over to the door and looks at the lab coat Morales had thrown down. It was wet. "Shit. I guess I'll use my clothes."
T-dog walks back over to the roof. "Didn't officer friendly have a bag of guns when he came into town?" Merle asks T-dog, who nods.
"Yeah, I'll grab those on the way back," T-dog says.
"Good, maybe I can use one of those shotguns to shoot him in the head," Merle says. T-dog turns and glares at him.
"Before I go risking my life to save yours. You promise me right here and now that you won't hurt anybody from camp, even Rick," T-dog says.
"Or what?" Merle asks.
"I'll forget the bolt cutters," T-dog threatens. Merle smiles.
"You got more balls than I thought," Merle says. "Okay, I promise you I won't kill anybody. I may be an asshole, but I am a man of my word," T-dog nods as he goes to Dale's tools and grabs a screwdriver. "You are going to kill walkers with that?"
"Yes," T-dog says as he sets the bag by Merle and hands him the radio. "If I'm not back in two hours, I'm dead," T-dog says before he walks away.
T-dog walks into the other building and looks around. He walks through the building. He walks into a room and sees a walker. He turns and looks at him. Its mouth opens and closes. It moves towards T-dog, who grips the screwdriver. He stabs the walker in the head and then pulls the screwdriver out before he does it again. He pushes it down as another walker comes around the corner. T-dog raises his screwdriver as an arrow goes through the back of the walker's head. T-dog looks behind the walker and sees a girl. He could tell she was no older than 17. She pulls out another arrow and pulls the bowstring back. "Drop that," She says. T-dog drops the screwdriver.
"I don't want any trouble," T-dog says. "I'm T-dog."
"Are you the idiot yelling?" She asks.
"No, that's Merle. He's handcuffed to a pipe," T-dog explains. She looks at him, confused. "Long story. I'm trying to help him,"
"Are you with that group of idiots with the dumbass that shot the gun?" She asks.
"Which one?" T-dog asks.
"By the tank," She answers.
"I was. They left. I dropped the key to Merle's handcuffs and stayed to help," T-dog explains.
"Quite nice of you," She says.
"If the bow needed?" T-dog questions. She lowers the bow. "What's your name?"
"Kate," Kate says. Kate was shorter than T-dog but an average height for a girl of her age. She had dirty blond hair and green eyes. T-dog could see a knife and a gun on her hip and a quiver with arrows on her back. She carried a compound bow. The bow was a bear archery attack bow.
"Where are your parents?" T-dog asks.
"Dead," She answers.
"How old are you?" T-dog asks.
"Seventeen," She answers. T-dog nods. "You know there is no way out this way, right?"
"I gotta get something to cut the handcuffs off his hand," T-dog says.
"The dead's jaw won't do that," Kate says.
"There is a hardware shop not far from here," T-dog explains.
"You are going to use the blood of the dead to walk among them like your friends did to get the truck. I travel by roofs. I saw them. I started coming this way when I heard yelling," Kate tells T-dog, who nods.
"Is there any chance you'll give me that knife?" T-dog asks.
"Do you got a camp?" Kate asks. T-dog nods. "Here is my offer. I help you get the blood on you and get your friend loose. In exchange, you get me back to your camp. Fair enough?" Kate asks. T-dog nods.
"Yeah, fair enough," T-dog says. Kate nods as she walks up to T-dog and hands him the knife. She pulls a pair of gloves out of her bag and hands them to T-dog.
"I got an extra pair," She says. T-dog nods as he takes the gloves and starts to cut the walker open.
T-dog stood covered in blood after about ten minutes. The only thing that wasn't covered was his face. He hands the knife back to Kate. "Head up to the roof," Kate nods as she grabs the knife and walks away. T-dog walks to the stairs that lead to the alley. "Here we go," T-dog says as he leaves the building heading onto the streets of Atlanta.
Thanks for reading. I'm excited about this story. This story will have a lot of T-dog and Merle, and I love both of those characters. Let me get a few things out. This story will not have traditional pairs. Glenn and Maggie will not get together in this story. I have a separate pair for both of them, and this story will loosely follow the story, and that will mostly be by location. This story will be uploaded every Sunday unless I see good feedback and then maybe more. As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
