HELLO AGAIN.
So, as you might've guessed considering the last update for Revival was three years ago... Yeah, Revival's dead. I fell flat on my face thanks to the event that shall not be named, and everything following that was just running me over and over again. That, and because of a few mistakes I made with the last story, just sort of resulted in putting off Revival and then never coming back to it. And, three years later, here I am.
Despite everything that happened, I do genuinely enjoy writing stuff, and I do genuinely want to try to break through the brick wall stopping me from finishing stuff and actually write a full season of this. So, here I am with a new season! I'm still thinking about the name, unfortunately, but as a placeholder, I think Total Drama Kickstart would be a fitting name. I am taking suggestions on a new name, of course.
So, yes, I am starting another story, go figure. I get that if you guys have trust issues from me, but, hey. I wanna try again, and now I'm gonna try again!
Now, as per usual, I have eight picks of my own.
Mao (Disgaea)
Ash Crimson (King of Fighters)
Clemont (Pokemon)
Handsome Jack (Borderlands)
Mera Salamin (Epithet Erased)
Uzi Doorman (Murder Drones)
Gwenpool (Marvel Comics)
Roxanne (Potionomics)
Out of the box picks, I know, but I think there is genuinely something I can work with here, especially with some other stuff I got cooking.
That being said, I am going to try and hold back from doing too much stuff all at once. Biting off more than I can chew is a very big mistake I made with when it comes to this stuff, and while I do love writing big arcs, I don't want to overload this thing with every contestant and do some crazy gimmick to make me stand out from the crowd. I don't want this to be a chore, after all, that is a surefire way to get me to put this off and just never come back to it.
I like to think I've learned from my mistakes the past two times, and I'm now approaching with with an open mind, but realistic goals. I'm not going to write high art any time soon, and I'm not going to try to. I just want to write something I enjoy writing in the first place.
Speaking of picks, let's talk about how you all are going to do this! There aren't a whole lot of rules with this other than the obvious, although I might end up ranting about one of them, so just bear with me on that.
1. I don't even think I have to say this rule anymore, I think we're all reasonable people these days, but I might as well get it out of the way. Any character and series is allowed, provided they are fictional and aren't pornographic. No real life people, pornographic characters or OCs allowed, but you already knew that.
2. One character per series, as per usual. Although, if you do end up suggesting a character of the same series as another but they don't know each other (example being you suggest Arven from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet even if Clemont is here), there is a chance that I'll be intrigued enough to put them in.
3. Any user, whether they PM me or send their character through reviews, can suggest any number of characters, as I trust you all will not go overboard with it. On that note, while I will not overload the cast with one guy's characters, I will take as many as I want if they interest me.
4. Tell me about your characters! I'm not asking for descriptions the length of War and Peace, but let me know who they are, where they're from, and their whole deal and why you want them in. Just feel free to geek out about your character. Along with that, I'm willing to take a lot of characters, although, please, don't expect them all to get attention. If I worried about giving every single character some form of an arc, it'd just be a chore to write. Of course, if you suggest a character with the purpose to be fodder, well then we're both happy.
5. Along with the above rule, if you wanted to also tell me why your character joined in the first place, that would be greatly appreciated. This is mostly just flavor stuff, but it could be really helpful if your character is a big villain like Cinder Fall or the like.
6. I am willing to put in the research of a character I don't know if the description catches my interest, but if I end up seeing a character I know well enough, chances are I'll take them. Bonus points if you end up suggesting a character I was already thinking of for my eight, like Spamton, Wario or, again, Arven (If I had a nickel-).
7. This will be a cast of 24, meaning you got 16 spots all for you guys.
8. No spamming, of course.
9. If I end up just not getting a whole lot of characters, chances are I will start throwing in more of my own characters.
10. Really, this is more of a suggestion than a rule, but get creative! I'm not gonna say no to any really popular characters, nor am I gonna force anyone who wants to suggestion to try their ass off, I realize that there is a reason why people suggest those characters, but feel free to get creative with your suggestions! It sounds fun.
So, that's about it! I was thinking about doing this for a while now, and I figured, since nothing too major has happened lately in my life, I thought I could try and bring myself back for story making, even if worst comes to worst and this ends up being a flop again. Still, I'm excited to try again with Kickstart, and while I'm going to try and hold myself back, I still got some ideas with just my characters, and I hope you all have ideas like me!
Oh, as a last note thing, shoutout to Norbert for giving me advice and Memeking for inspiring me to try this again. Hope this works out!
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and good luck!
