The Claws of Vengeance
(Hey everyone, this story is something I believed should've happened. It was set up so many years/seasons ago, a story that could've made us truly reconsider our views of reality as it does or at least make us think about the gray areas of living beings of all kinds. But they didn't go through with it, even though it had so much potential and it could've made for the most ironic and dynamic of the show's plotlines and one that could/should make one question things. Unfortunately they didn't follow it and some think what happened was cut and dry when the show tried to make things seemingly complex but were just so inconsistent. Also, I will say they really nerfed a lot of supernatural beings and had awful designs for them. (I don't know what the writers and others behind the scenes were thinking.) But this involves a character some of you may not remember. And since the writers didn't do anything with them, I wanted to do something. I've had this idea for a while…with some additions to this character to make it more interesting and because the lore behind their species wasn't done right in the show…like several species. For those who know me, this is another idea I've wanted to do that I think I've mentioned. My Darkness My Old Friend, Game of Thrones S8 rewrite rework are on HIATUS for now. Maybe my Ready Player One story might be on HIATUS, not sure yet. I've wanted to continue them, just been caught up in a lot of stuff. And I've been rewatching the episodes of Supernatural that I like or tolerate…even though certain things just got so inconsistent and everything. Still, I thought this story should've been told. Hope you all enjoy this story!)
Prologue
(Heaven)
Dean and Sam rode back to Bobby's in Baby. Sam looked around.
"So Jack did all this? Cas too?"
"Yeah. It was good to hear that."
"And time goes by faster here?"
"Kinda. I rode around for a bit, though I was off another little adventure before I got back."
Sam gave his brother a confused look. Dean pushed up his shoulders.
"And after that. I stepped out of Baby to enjoy the view then you showed up."
"So that means my son-"
"Son?"
"My son…His name's Dean."
Dean grinned, ruffling Sam's hair.
"Sam, you beautiful bastard! So, what's he like?"
"He's become a great man, like you."
"So you mean he continued the family business?"
"I taught him everything that's out there. Made sure he got an anti-possession tattoo. But no, he's not a hunter."
"Well, at least one of us gets to live a normal life."
"I just hope he lives a full life."
Dean pats his brother's shoulder.
"Don't worry, Sammy. I'm sure he'll be fine. He's named after me, after all."
"Oh right, like you always made the best choices."
Dean scoffed, grinning.
"Bitch."
"Jerk."
The two laughed.
Then they came up to Bobby's place. Sam and Dean exit Baby. Bobby smiles as the two approach. He hugs Sam and Dean. Then he pulls away, a huge smile on his face.
"It's so good to see Sam."
Sam sheds a tear.
"You too, Bobby."
"Come in, boys. There's some more people here to see you both."
Sam and Dean turned to one another, sharing a curious look. They then both followed Bobby into his house. Sam and Dean cried as they saw who waited: their parents, Eileen, Jo, Ellen, Ash, Jody, Donna, Pamela, all their closest friends and family. Or rather the human ones.
Bobby had prepared a celebration. All he had to do was snap his fingers and all their favorite drinks popped and food into the room. Dean chuckled.
"About time we get to do that."
Dean snapped his fingers, a bottle identical to the one Bobby had given him when he arrived in heaven popped into his hand then took a swig. Sam smiled. Eileen walked over and hugged him.
"Sam, it's so good to see you again."
"You too, Eileen."
Eileen grinned. Sam's head twitched to the side and his eyes widened a little.
"A-Are you?"
"No longer deaf! I love Heaven!"
Sam hugged her back.
"Sam!"
Sam turned to the owner of the voice. His eyes widened, his face reddened, and he began to cry.
"Je-Jessica?"
Sam's college girlfriend grinned widely at him. The two rushed over to hug one another. Sam began to sob loudly.
"Jessica, I'm so sorry I wasn't there. If I had-"
Jessica sniffled and sighed.
"I won't deny…I was angry for a long time…meeting you then being…murdered by our possessed friend…I blamed you for pulling me into this 'supernatural' world…then I remembered…it was Brady…or the demon that possessed him that introduced us…it was his…its fault…not yours…I'm just glad you lived a full life, Sam."
Sam cried.
"I'm sorry you didn't."
Jessica cried a little then kissed Sam's cheek.
"I'm at peace now. I heard through the grapevine you killed the bastard who murdered me. Do you think…Do you think Brady was still alive in there somewhere?"
"No, a lot of demons often didn't leave the people alive before possessing them."
"I haven't seen Brady up here yet…do…do you think he's in-"
"Brady was a good guy. He wouldn't have ended up in Hell…he may though still be in the Veil on Earth."
"Maybe, but some of us got out."
Sam and Dean turned, their eyes wide, seeing Kevin smiling at them. They both rushed over, hugging him. Kevin gasped and grunted.
"G-Good to see you g-guys too…you're squeezing me too hard."
The brother let their friend go, both laughing in excitement and relief. Dean spoke first.
"Kevin, how are you-?"
"Your friend, Jack, freed me. He said something about needing to intervene and helping those who need it even when he thinks he should let people be."
Bobby chuckled, patting Dean's back.
"I guess the kid did take after you two. Definitely like to stick your noses into whatever you discover."
Sam chuckled while Dean just smiled. John and Mary approached and hugged them. John looked at his sons.
"You two have done me, done us all, so proud. What do you say we have a dinner like we did in the Bunker?"
Sam and Dean looked at their father, eyes widened and gasping in joy, the latter speaking first.
"You remember?"
"When I finally got up here, it all came to me. It all started with ole' yellow eyes…and then you two took on God himself and beat the bastard. You two became the greatest hunters this universe has ever seen, you both far exceeded me. I'm sorry you didn't get to live a full life Dean, but you went down swinging. I couldn't be prouder of you."
"Thanks, dad."
John hugged Dean again then turned to Sam.
"Sam, I always hoped that you and your brother would get to live normal, safe, happy lives. Yes, you two saved the world so many times. Hell, worlds. And now, you've come home after living a full life, you had a family. I'm just sorry it happened after your brother-"
"Dad, it's ok. All this is thanks to you, Mom…and everyone here."
John smiled, shedding a tear. May cried, hugging her sons at the same time.
"I'm so proud of you both."
Sam and Dean cried, laughing as they sobbed with joy. A popping sound was heard. They turned, seeing Ellen and Joy holding opened beers with the former speaking.
"Well, what are you all waiting for? It's time to celebrate."
All those gathered laughed and took a bottle, then raised them, as Bobby spoke.
"To Sam and Dean!"
The Winchester brothers' family and friends repeated the cheer.
"To Sam and Dean!"
All those gathered laugh and cheer, clashing their bottles gently against one another.
(Unknown location, present)
A figure stands in the shadows as another kneels on the ground putting together various items and speaks.
"We're nearly ready, most of the ingredients are gathered and once we have them all we can cast the spell."
They look at another part of the room, with a light cast on the spot and a tarp covering it. The kneeling figure turned to the one standing.
"You know once you do this, you can't undo it."
The standing figure sighed, nodding.
"I know. And like I've told you and the others: you don't have to stick around for this. You know who they are and what they've done."
"Yes…and we know what you've done…for all of us. We're with you."
"Thank you."
The kneeling figure nodded.
"We need one more ingredient."
The figure nodded, their hand clenching.
"Winchester blood."
To be continued…
(Here we go. This story is a long time coming. I know this is a complicated issue given that there are different perspectives on what's to be revealed. Still, I hope this is a dynamic and thought provoking story. I hope you all enjoy: The Claws of Vengeance!)
