Sometimes Leo wonders if his family is not secretly annoyed by them; Raph calls them 'sappy-ass morons' but he says it fondly, and Don rolls his eyes but smiles, and Mikey- well, Mikey is his usual careless self, but sometimes Leo catches the youngest staring at them with a mesmerized expression on his face, as if he had never seen anything quite like the two of them simply sitting next to each other on the sofa.

"It's actually a bit terrifying," Mikey admits when Leo asks him, once, in private, "seeing you like this; every time Usagi enters the room you seem to light up somehow- you look so happy, and all these years we didn't even know you were sad."
