Kissing the other is uncomplicated, it's salty and wet and just the right amount of intimate, and when they hold hands they cannot interlock their fingers but their callouses fit together like puzzle pieces falling into place.

It's just the two of them for the first time in ages- it's movie night at April's and everyone left hours ago, even Splinter, but they excused themselves and the others understood; in the darkness of the room, Leo's heart leaps into his throat and he feels an entirely unfamiliar kind of panic spike in his chest, but they have grown accustomed enough to each other to voice their fears, and when he quietly admits that he doesn't know how to proceed from here, Usagi smiles and shows him.

There are no roses and bubble-baths like they have on TV, and when they light candles, it's seldom for romance, but when they are back to back in the pouring rain and the shadows come to life all around them, when steel sings against steel and Usagi's laughter rings through the night, half-crazed with adrenaline and impossibly alive, Leo thinks that it cannot possibly get any better than this.
