A cold and mostly empty house thats what was awaiting her ,sitting in her car parked in her driveway for the last half hour ,she coudlnt get herself to get inside not today not on the day of his death .Her cell phone had been ringing all day everyone wondering where she was ,they knew why she hadnt show up to work ,this day beeing the only one she ever took off ,but everyone wanted to make sure she was ok as much has she appreciated their effort it was useless and she knew it nothing inside of her was left to be saved .
Pulling back from her driveway ,Calleigh droved around town everysingle place she saw reminded her of him ,the little diner they used to go during break lunch the bar were the team met after solving a case or the fancy little french restaurant where they had their first real date .She still remenber it like it was yesterday .When eric had been released from from the immigration custom enforcement detention center she had pick him up ,they barely made it home when his cell rang ,his mother calling ,eric was needed back home to discuss the recent family had apologised over and over even though she kept telling him she understood ,Eric promised her that he would made it up to her and he did ,the next week Eric took her to this very expensive french restaurant ,the evening had been everything they both imagined and beeing in a neutral environnement helped with their nervousness .Eric had reached over the table and took her hand in his ,he smiled widely when Calleigh had lock her finger with his ,at that moment they both knew where the evening would end .They shared dessert ,something they had done many times ,but before they never took the time to gaze into each other eyes .
When eric stood to go to the bathroom she couldnt help but watch him leaving turning her head when he turned back to see her stared he grinned ,being caught staring Calleigh blushed a little but by the time he came back passing by her she took a hold of his hand ,stopping next to her eric looked down smilling ,she remenber pulling his arm down for a kiss ,a sweet innocent kiss ,their second much liked the one she'd given him outside the detention center .
Right then she offer to go home for coffee which was ridiculous because they just had coffee ,if she hadnt been slightly tipsy from the white wine she would have slap herself for invinting a guy home on the first date .But this wasnt any guy this was eric who she trusted with all of her beeing.
When they made it home she didnt know exactly what to expect ,eric had been the ever so gentleman all night long giving her time to adjust to this new relationship of them .
She remenber clearly making the first moved they been going through sonme pics of hers growing up when she gave him a small kiss ,she wasnt sure what happen next but she found herself straddling his lap and pulling his shirt out of his pants , she expected them to go fast tear each other clothes ,but eric had dreamed of this for so long that he slow her down ,asked her if she was ready for this and when she nodded with more eagerness then she like to admit .They made to the bedroom that she was sure off ,the rest would forever be imprinted in her mind ,Everything about that night was perfect ,Eric had taken his time undressing her,touching ,feeling ,learning what she liked and didnt .But that didnt mean she remained stilled she gave has much as she realised then that for the first time in her life she made loved,Sure she had sex before many times ,but this ,this was different and she knew it the moment his eyes lock on hers the whole times ,the way they moaned with the little touches ,the slow pace that drove both of them crazy ,the breaking points was when he'd pinned her hands above her head interlocking her fingers with his .thats when she knew ,she knew ,no more doubts ,she loved that man .
Afterward they hid unde the covers sweaty ,panting ,satisfied ,contempt,and especially relief that the pent up sexual tension that had been hiding in plain sight was finnaly gone ,he asked if she was ok and she answer by a passionnate kiss ,they fell asleep in each other arms . and that was it the first time they made loved ,the first of many ,in that moment they thought nothing could go wrong .
Everytime year it was the same thing , solitude,anger ,all day the same thing worst then any other day ,she would drive around town ignoring anyone who would try to reach out to her ,she didnt know why she drove maybe it was self pity or to just hurt herself even more so that she could at least feel something ,Everything in miami reminded her of him .When she finally got home the sun was setting down on miami she saw her answering machine blinking she dint even bother listening to her message she knew from who they were ,tossing her keys and the small white paper bag she held in her hands on the coffee table she erased all the messages .She didnt bother going through her mail ,Then she grabed the white paper bag and headed in the bathroom pouring herself a bath she made sure the temperature was just right ,adding her favorite vanilla scented bubble bath the one Eric loved the scent on her .
While the water filled the bath Calleigh open the small bag taking out a small plastic bottle she settle the bottle on the side of the tub and then left to go in the kitchen ,
Opening her fridge she took out her already open bottle of red wine ,then took out a glass from her cupboard and poured a glass making sure it was filled nearly to the rim ,walking back to the bathroom she put the glass down next to the plastic bottle .
Stripping of her clothes she carefully stepped into the hot bath .letting herself relax for once the steam of the water mixing with the scent of the vanilla bath oil ,she took a sip of her wine glancing at the small plastic bottle that seem to stare at her ,she didnt know why today out of the blue she decided to fill the prescription alexx had gave her months ago ,well she knew why today was different ,it always was but many time Alexx had suggested and all Calleigh did was take the presciption promise Alexx she would fill it ,but that was a lie and Alexx knew it but pretented she didnt ,hoping that Calleigh would for once accept help. She never did until now .
Taking a deep breath calleigh submerged herself under the water ,the silence that filled her head was reassuring for once at the few seconds she held her breath under the water were the most peacefull of the last three years .Feeling her body float in the small amount of water her muscle relaxing and her mind free for the few seconds she could hold her breath ,but when the need for air would fight her body she would hold until the very last second then she would emerged wiping the water from her face and her hair ,curling them behind he ears .
Sitting in the bathtub she curled her kness agaisnt her chest and wrap her arms around them ,her chin resting on top of her knees she stared down at the prescription bottle .
Closing her eyes so she wouldnt have to look at it ,two strong hands rubbed her stiffed neck and shoulder .
CAL: You werent kidding when you said you had magic hands eric .
ERIC: told you so .
CAL; From now on your giving me massage each day .
ERIC: thats going to cost you .
Laying back agaisnt his chest the bubbles surrounding them in the bathtub she relaxed as his arms surround her waist ,she smiled when she saw his long legs bent at the knees since they couldnt fit on her small bathtub .
CAL :Like what ?
ERIC: humm depend,how about a kiss .
Giggling she ran her hands up and down his long legs she tilt her head backward and leaned toward him ,brushing her lips agaisnt his in a small and mostly tender kiss .
ERIC : thats it i was expecting more .
She gave him a mischevious smile and gently reach back to tap the side of his cheek.
CAL : dont worry if you play your card right you'll get your reward.
ERIC: If i play my cards right, im taking a bath in a way too small bathtub and just gave you a massage and i still havent play my cards right ,come on give me a break here cal .
CAL: ok first you got in the bathtub because you wanted to see me naked and second you gave me a massage only because everytime were alone you cant keep your hands off me .
Chuckling Eric nuzzled her neck and moved the plam of his hand in the inside of her thigh ,teasing ever so lightly .
ERIC: I dont need to get you in the bathtub to see you naked ,i've been seeing you naked almost everyday for the past month .
Leaning agaisnt his shoulder Calleigh turned her head agaisnt his so that they would lean cheek agaisnt cheek feeling his stubble agaisnt her skin she let a little gasp when his hand sneak further inside her thigh.
CAL: as it been a month already .
ERIC: yep a month ever since you finnaly gave in to my charm .
CAL: yeah right she scoffed ...only took you 10 years to get me where you wanted .
Eric leaned to kiss the hollow of her neck peckering kisses back and forth .
ERIC: Were here isnt that what mather
CAl; yeah .
She sighted curling herself agaisnt Eric chest he ran his hand up and down her arm her stomach between her breast anywhere he could touch ,the water was getting cold the bubbles long gone they been in there for a long time but neither of them seem to contemplate getting out .
CAL: Eric ?
ERIC: humm .
CAL: In the plane this afternoon ,what were you day dreaming about ?
Calleigh felt his finger still his up and down stroking on her arm and she knew then she had caught him in a rare embarrassing moment .Smirking form the corner of her mouth she waited for the question to register in his head and for him to find a suitable answer .
ERIC: I wasnt day dreaming i dont know where you got that .Man do not daydream were too macho for that .
Smirking wider she gently elbow him in the stomach.
CAL: sure you were come on tell me .
ERIC: i think its time we get out the steam getting to your head .
CAL: Dont change the subject tell me i wont make fun of you ,you were day dreaming about joining the high miles club werent you .
ERIC: You said you werent going to make fun of me.
Calleigh slightly turned to face him smilling .
CAL: is that what you were so embarrassed about .
ERIC: yeah sure what ever ,ready to get out .
CAL: Your changing the subject again she smirked .
ERIC: No im not come one ,you wouldnt want to miss your reality show .
Eric stood int he bathtub helping calleigh she smirked at him while he grabed a couples of towel .
CAL: I'll get it out of you eventually .
ERIC: NO you wont cause there is nothing to get out .
Eric wrap a towel around her torso then one around his waist .
ERIC: stop looking at me like that ,it's weird .
CAL: I think it's the first time i see you embarrassed .
Eric began walking out the bathroom heading to the bedroom where he grab a pair of sweat to put to bed .Calleigh followed him intend on knowing what he was so embarrased about .
CAL: i bet i can find out what it is .
ERIC: you can try i doubt you would he said has he walked out the bedroom to the kitchen ,laughing at him Calleigh quickly dress up for bed going over in her head what could possibly embarrased eric so much .
CAL: I KNOW she yelled in victory running to the kitchen with only the top of her pj on ,eric was casually taking a sip of his beer his back to her when he heard .
CAL: You want to take me somewhere ..
Eric nearly spat out his beer and turned to her ,his face was priceless she hit right on target .
ERIC:I have no idea what your talking about .
Eric pass by her avoiding her eye sight and sat on the couch fliping the tv on .Calleigh put her hands on her hips and tilted her head to the side smilling and staring at him the way he tried to avoid her eyes sight but failed to do so was utterly adorable .
ERIC: You'll miss your show if you dont stop .
Calleigh praticly ran next to him sitting on the couch her legs tuck under her facing him .
CAL: So...where she asked grinning .
ERIC: Your show starting .
CAL: there nothing to be embarrased about Eric it's sweet .
Eric pump up the volume of the tv it really wasnt a conversation he wanted to have right now he had no reason to be embarrased but yet he was .
CAL: Come on ..she whined poking his side ...tell me .
ERIC: Hawaii there happy .
CAL: Really hawaii ..wow ...why are you so embarrassed about that .
ERIC: Cause...now can we watch your show ?
CAL: Thats not an answer
ERIC:Thats all your getting .
CAL: I think it's sweet you want to take me somewhere .
ERIC: Why that ?
CAL: I just think it is there is nothing to be embarrased about beeing sweet .
ERIC: IT's not that ...i would just like us to go somewhere together where we dont have to hide our relationship where i can kiss you in public without beeing afraid where i can introduce you as my girlfriend .But we'll never get to do that so there is no point of talking about it .
CAL: Why not she said a bit dissapointed .
ERIC: Because if we take our vacation at the same time people will talk and if we both come back with a tan it's going to be the same thing .
Looking up at him Calleigh smiled slowly faded she though about when her and jake had come back from Antigua and rumors had circulated around the lab about them ,at that moment it had put a small strain in their relationship .Calleigh wasnt much for office gossip but she couldt take it but Jake never like his personnal life broadcast in public which was one of the reason apart from Rick finding out about them they took a break a few weeks later .Eric wasnt like Jake and she knew it but eric would never do anything to hurt her carreer .
CAL: Eric .we'll go i promised i dont know how but we'll find a way .
Eric smiled down at her and nodded he pecked her lips and Calleigh curled against him the throw blanket over both their bodies watching her favorite show,''THE MARRYING KIND''.
The water was getting cold and Calleigh was shivering she open her eyes to see once again the bottle of pills it seemed to be staring at her which she knew was the small chain of the plug to drain the water ,her glass of wine long finish she didnt bother picking it up while she got out .she took the bottle of pill her hand and squeezed tightly ,catching a glimps of herslef in the mirror ,skin pale ,bags under her eyes , skinny features .Who would want her she though she was damaged in a bad way who would accept a woman who couldnt get over her lover death nobody know would take her to Hawaii , no one would ever love her all people saw in her now was pity and that was it .
Sighting calleigh went to her bedroom her side of her bed already undo since she didnt bother to make it in the morning and what use to be Eric side undisturbed has usual. Puting on Eric old t-shirt the logo of his beloved florida marlins long gone from beeing wear too often .His scent too long gone .Sitting on her bed she once again stared at the bottle of pills sitting on her didnt take long for her to make a decision with a shaky hands she reached for the bottle and open it she took 2 pills out and put them in her mouth taking a long sip of water she swallowed them .Puting the glass of water back on her nightstand and rolled herslef in bed .Pulling the covers above her head she lay the palm of her hand on what use to be Eric side it didnt take long for the for the sleeping pill to kick in .That night she slept peacefully for once the pills helping her but they ddint stop the dream ,of her and Eric vacationning in Hawaii just like they had promised each she woke in the morning it was back to reality .
