The rest of the week past relativly fast Calleigh had has always remained by herself hiding in her lab emerging only when it was needed or talking when she had no other choice , her mood hadnt change if anything it had gotten worst as the week went by , the lawyer was persistent , calling , email letters he had not come back to see her face to face , maybe he was afraid of her but Calleigh had to admit he was persistent and curiosity was beggining to get the best of her .
Reaching for the next report to files she was surprised to find her in box completly empty , a first for her , he wasnt use to it , not sure what to do if her 2 hands ,Calleigh looked around her lab , no weapons to be tested no bullet to be compared nothing , nada.
That left her one option , go home , to her empty house , empty bed , empty life ,with her head hung low , holding her purse strap around her shoulder she waited for the elevator to come once the doo opened she went on to step in but was stop by a voice coming from the inside.
JAKE: well there you are !
CAL: jake ?
Looking her up and down Jake frowned at her appearance she looked worst then last he had seen her a week ago .
JAKE: your not going dress like this are you ?
CAL: Going where?
JAKE: Frank retirement party, did you forget ? it's tonight !Were supposed to go together!
CAL.:is it friday already?
JAKE: well duh missy get your head out of the gutter yes it's friday if you dont know then you really need a night out to party ...and you really need to go change .
Frowning at her former boyfriend who didnt know what tact was calleigh looked down at what she was currently wearing .
CAL: whats wrong with my clothes ?
JAKE: for once we dont live in the country now dont get me wrong i love a girl with tight jeans and t-shirt but that for lazy sundays , and second you need to show those sexy curves of yours ! he smirked with a wink to which Calleigh rolled her eyes in annoyance
JAKE: come on we have time to stop at your place you need to change , come on hop said clapping his hand and directing her inside the elevator .
CAL: you can be annoying you know that!
JAKE: All part of my charm ! he smirked again has the door closed on them .
Meanwhile at Natalia house everyone was busy getting ready fro Frank retirement party ,while Natalia changed her mind for the tenth about what to wear Ryan was currently in the bathroom freshly showered shaving his day old beard .
Applying the shaving cream on his face Ryan saw two blue eyes piercing eyes through the mirror peeking inside the bathroom .
JOEY: Watcha doing ! he ask half hiding himself behind the wall .
RYAN : shaving ! got to look nice for the ladies !
JOEY: ohh ! his curiostiy peeking Joey stepped further into the bathroom curiously looking at Ryan with his head tilted to the side .
RYAN : you want to try ?
His eyes widening Joey bobbed his head up and down furiously , ryan pulled his liltte steps in front of the sink took a brand new razor and removed the blade then showed Joey how to apply the shaving cream putting a little amount on the little boy face .Looking at his reflection in the mirror Joey giggle .
JOEY: I look like santa! he giggle jumping on his step .
RYAN: now you take the razor and now very important you carefully apply the razor and go slowly down in a straight line .
Joey look with much attention as to what ryan was doing and tried to did the same only his straight line wasnt so straight .
RYAN : thats good little buddy !
NAT: hey ryan what you think of that? she asked stepping at the door of the bathroom .
JOEY: Look mommy im shaving ! he said with a bright smile .
for a second Ntalia was complelty lost at the sight before her , but when she saw that Ryan had removed the blade of the razor she couldnt find the sight any more adorable .
NAT: My little boy growing ! she fake snif with her hand on her heart .
JOEY: im looking nice for the ladies .
NAT: ohh dear , shaving i can take but dating , sweety you aint dating until your 40 years old .
NAT: so how do i look ! wrong or ?
Ryan looked her up and down she wore a nice black dress that ended just above her knees with short sleeves and low cut v- neck .Once again his heart beating in his chest Ryan knew he wouldnt be able to deal with her dressed like this all night long .
RYAN : i think i prefered when you wore the blue pants with the black top ,. he lied through his teeth.
Sighting Natalia was exasperated she didnt go out often but when she did she wanted to look nice which meant she would go through her closet from head to toe .
NAT: Really ..i do like that dress though, you dont like it ?
RYAN:You do look beautifull but ..huh didnt you say you didnt want the geek squad hovering around you .
NAT:Are you saying i dont look nice in pants and that i woulntd attract attention !
RYAN : What..no ...i didnt say that you look nice in anything Natalia i swear ..i didnt mean ...
NAT: Relax im just messing with you , if you say black top and blue pants then it will be black top and blue pants .
RYAN : Great !
As Natalia dissapeared back into her bedroom Ryan finished shaving helping Joey to wash his face has well .
JOEY : 'yan i have a question ?
RYAN : shoot !
JOEY: Do you like my mommy ?
NAT: Sure i do your mommy my bestfriend !
JOEY : Great! he said hoping down the step ...because i think it would cool if you were my daddy !
RYAN : WHAT? he said turning his body quickly to face Joey but the little boy had already run out of the bathroom to his bedroom to play with his favortite toys .
Ryan didnt know how long he stood in the bathroom completly dumbstruck about Joey admission , sure he was just 3 years and 3 year old little boy didnt understant the concept of a father especially one who didnt have a real many times Ryan had picture himself being his fater it was wrong , very wrong that he knew and would always feel guilty afterward and had to remind himself that he would never be nothing more then a friend for Joey .
But joey outburst had kind of put him off his heart breaking once again .Natalia apppeared in the door way and saw his ghost face staring into space .
NAT: Hey hurry were going to be late !
Ryan didnt answer simply walk out of the shower brushing agaisnt her once again hating the goosebump that her closeness produce on him .
Natalia stood at the end of the hallway Ryan retreating into his room quietly , she inaverdantly heard Joey confession and herself was dumbstruck , Joey had never showed any interest into knowing his father .She also knew that one day it would come he would ask , would want to know who he was , why he wasnt there .She thought she had done a good job raising him by herself giving him everything he needed , she didnt know until know how much she was kidding himself , a sweet child like Joey was needed a father , mostly deserved a father .
Sitting on her couch he made himself at home flicking the tv off to a sport station with his feet up on the coffee table he waited patiently while she changed .
staring at her closet for the last ten minutes calleigh had no idea what to wear not that she cared much anyway .She hadnt dress for anybody or anything in god knows how long .
A soft knock came at her bedroom door , with a loud sight Calleigh closed the door of her closet .
CAL: WHAT?
JAKE: is it safe to come in .
CAL: yes ! if you thought you would catch me naked you'll be highly dissapointed .
Chuckling Jake pushed the door opened finding her in the same clothes she wore when they came in .
JAKE: maybe i should have waited a few more minutes !
CAL: hahaha very funny .
JAKE: Are you ready were supposed to get there at 8 and its 7; 30 .
CAL: im not going !
JAKE: Why not were getting filthy drunk , were gonna laugh , flirt and who knows maybe more ...he said wiggling his eyebrows at her suffestivly.
CAL: Dont push your luck jake !
JAKE: ok ok i'll stop with the jokes , come on Calleigh you have to come dont let me alone with the geeks .
CAL: Afraid you'll look stupid !she teased a tiny almost invisble smile curving her lips .
JAKE: was that a joke ! please somebody take note on the calendar Calleigh duquesne made a joke .
CAL: i thought you said you werent going to joke anymore .
JAKE: Ok im stopping now , but your coming and thats final .
CAL: i cant ok ...i ..i dont know what to wear .
JAKE: thats no excuse ,surely it cant be that bad .
Opening her closet Jake peek through it invading Calleigh privacy but she didnt seem to care .
JAKE: alright ...what about this ...
Pulling a dress from the hanger jake proudly show his finding .
CAL: NO !
Trowing the dress on the bed Jake once again went on his quest this time pulling dress pants and a blouse .
CaL: Do i look like im going to court ! she sighted in impatience but Jake didnt let that deter him.
The clothes found themself next to the dress , after a while calleigh full closet was resting on her bed .
JAKE: your very difficult you know that .
CAL: another reason why i shouldnt go .
JAKE: i will find you something even if it's the last thing i do .
CAL: again jake dont tempt faith , it might be the last thing you do .
JAKE: you like me too much to kill me plus thing how messy it will be on your nice carpet ! he chuckle once again searching through her closet .
JAKE: ahhh got it !
With a huge proud smile Jake faced Calleigh who eyes widened at the dress that he currently held in his hand .
CAL : NO WAY!
JAKE: ohhh yes way !he grinned throwing the dress at her .
CAL: I am not wearing that !
JAKE: You know i use to remenber you loved to wear dresses !
CAL: Not anymore im not 20's anymore , i dont want to wear it .
Throwing the dress on the floor like a simple child Calleigh crossed her arms over her chest pouting .
JAKE: I give up ! he said raising his arms in the air.
CAL: Finnaly ! now leave me alone .
JAKE: No way jose ! that doesnt mean your not coming , im giving you five minutes to choosed something you can wear a potato bag for all i care but your coming .
Jake ignored the shooting glared she gave him and walked out of the bedroom closing the door behind him .Calleigh was left with the inevitable she had no choice he wouldnt leave until she choosed an outfit and went with him to Frank retirement party .
With a sight and not too much conviction she began scouting through her clothes once more .Tne minutes later jake heard the door opened standing from the couch politly he took in her appearance she look , well she looked decent which was a far cry to the '' im not bothering '' look she wore earlier .
CAL: happy !
JAKE: you ...look ...nice .
CAL: Now can we go !
JAKE: Nice of you to show excitment !
CAL: oh im not excited the sooner we go the sooner we get this over with .
Rolling his eyes and shaking his head Jake followed her outside starting his motorcycle while she lock the door .
Walking down the three step of her front porch she frowned at Jake there was no way she was going out on his motorcycle but he patted the back seat anyway , shaking her head with insistance Jake reply by patting the back seat again with more insistance .
Tilting her head she show her annoyance to him she hated him when he was acting like this ,all cocky and so sure of himself .Jake only reply was tight smirk .
Not having the energy to fight him anymore she sat behind him arms around his waist slapping his arms when she saw his proud cocky grin in the mirror , backing the motorcycle down her driveway , Calleigh notice a man standing across the street behind a tree, a baseball hat covering his eyes , when he saw her he turned around and began walking away .It couldnt be no , it wasnt possible her eyes were playing trick on her .
CAL: JAKE STOP ...STOP ... she yelled to the best of her lungs .
Before Jake had the chance to stop his motorcycle Calleigh had already began to dismount it ,loosing his balance he struggle to keep the motorcycle straight .
JAKE; WAIT ...WAIT ! HE yelled to her but to no avail Calleigh wasnt listening she ran across the street her heart pounding and hands shaking .
CAL: ERIC...ERIC WAIT ...PLEASE ...
Running across the park in front of her house Calleigh yelled to the top of her lungs the man turned around slightly picking the pace of his step slighlty before turning the corner .
CAL ; ERICCCCCC she yelled louder and louder hoping he would hear her .
Merely a few seconds later she rounded that same corner stumbling onto one o the busiset street in miami and this late at night when everyone came out to party .
Standing in the middle of the sidewalk her chest heaving palms moist her heart beating into her chest she tried to find him through the crowd a bystander hit her shoudler then another and calleigh found herself completly overwhelmed by the crowd around her .
Her head spinning she saw the men wearing the baseball cap again staring from across the street her vision beginning to blurry she moved toward the street stopping at the edge of the street , there he was staring at her with a smile.
CAL: eric ! she said soflty smilling back her eyes watering
Taking a step closer into the street she was pulled back at the last minute by 2 strong arms around her waist just has a bus passed by in front of them .
JAKE: ARE YOU CRAZY !YOU COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED .
Pushing him back calleigh couldnt care less about the bus that nearly killed her, searching desperatly across the street .When a few cars faslty passing in front of her blocking her view she moved further to the left then the right leaving Jake completly confused .
Then she stop staring into space across the street tears slowly shedding down her cheeks she quickly wiped them with the back of her hand .
JAKE: calleigh ?He asked soflty with a hand on her shoulder .
CAL: he ...he was right there ? she said quietly tears still shedding .
JAKE:who?
CAL:Er...Eric he was right there i knew ..i know it was him .
JAKE: Calleigh...eric ...eric dead .
CAL: I KNOW THAT ... she yelled facing him ...dont you think i know that ?she said more quietly .
CAL: Im not crazy.
JAKE: I never say you were .
CAL: i really saw him ! she said quietly her whole body defeated .
Jake step closer stroking her cheek smilling .
JAKE: I believe you ok .
Kissing her temple Jake lead her back to his motorcycle ,calleigh gave one last look behind her hoping to get a last glance at who ever had been standing in front of her house , but he wasnt there , maybe her mind was indeed playing trick on her .
They had to give it to her Maxine Valera knew how to throw a retirement party , not that franks really cared anyway , he did appreciate the effort and didnt feel one bit bitter to take his retirement he'd long been looking forward to it to just kick back , play golf when he wanted , of go fishing got to bed early wake up late , yep frank was looking forward to it .
Nursing his scotch at the bar along with Horatio Frank couldnt care less about the celebration taking place behind him , all he cared was that his friend were having fun but he had to admit that Maxine who only had 2 short week to prepared all of this had done a good job , the reception place wasnt too bad and the music blasted country music just the way he liked it and the alcohol was pouring non stop .Just the way he liked it .
Everyone was almost here , missing in action was has usual Calleigh , they sure hope she would make it .
MAX: Maybe we should call her ? she told Natalia and Alexx sipping her glass of wine .
ALEXX: I dont think thats a good idea sweety .
MAX: What if she doesnt come , that would be so sad .
NAT: In the mood she's been all week i dont think stressing her even more going to help , remenber shes got lots and lots of guns .
ALEXX: Im sure she'll make it give her sometimes , anyway Horatio assured me Jake had everything under control .

NAT: huh Maxine he's replacing Frank , we had to invite him .

Laughing Alexx grabed the half empty bottle of wine on their table and filled their glass .

NAT: sooo maxine ! she asked back laughing .
MAX: Did you jump Ryan bone yet .
Alexx nearly spit her drink out her eyes bulging at Maxine .
MAX: Ohhh you didnt know , Natalia and Ryan are playing roomie! she laugh has Ntalia rolled her eyes at her annoying friends .
ALEXX: Is that so ! she said with an hint of teasing herself.
NAT: ohh Alexx please not you too , im just helping him out ok , he finnaly broke up with Jasmine .
MAX: Helping out yeah right ! she made space for him !
ALEXX:ahhh how cute! she giggle along with Maxine .
NAT: I wasnt going to let him sleep on the couch !
ALEXX: Any midnight tip toes ! she laugh out loud with Maxine

HOR: Jake , eric died three years ago believe many times i wish it wasnt the case but he did .

Grabing his beer Jake walk away from the bar leaving Horatio by himself , Jake did have a point Calleigh was already hurt and beyond repair .
Back at the girls table Calleigh sipped on her glass of wine listening to her friends chit chat about things she found meaningless .Maxine latest date , alexx children or Natalia last pair of shoes , Calleigh couldnt take it anymore , everything resounded in an echo their laughter the music , having enough she pushed her chair not bothering to excuse herself .
Thanking god that the line to the ladies bathroom wasnt long Calleigh hide herself into toilet stall locking the door behind her .
Sitting on the toilet she put her purse on her knees and search through it finding a small plastic bottles she quickly opened it to retrieved two blue and red pills that she swallowed without help .
She heard the creek of the ladies bathroom door opened and immedtialty threw her bottles back into he puurse even though no one could see her ,Calleigh felt like what she was doing was wrong .

Hearing her name being called by Alexx she had to roll her eyes , feeling like a child who had to be taken care off , could they at least give her some peace while she pee , even though she wasnt .
ALEXX: CALLEIGH ! she called again when she got no answer .
CAL: FOR GOD SAKE CAN I PEE IN PEACE !
Flsushing the toilet she emerged second later to find Alexx reclined agaisnt the sink her amrs crossed over her chest with a frowned .Calleigh ignored her and moved to the sink next to hers washing her hands .
ALEXX: You know Calleigh the others might accept your behavior or the way you talk to them but i wont , im not a suspect you cant talk to me like you just did , i dont accept that behavior from my kids and sure aint going to accept it from you.
CAL: I just wanted to pee in peace is that too much to ask ?
ALEXX: we both know thats not what you were doing in there !
Wiping her hands Calleigh did everything she could to avoid her friends eyes .

ALEXX: yes you did but your supposed to take them once a day not 4 or 5 , so how many ?

Calleigh now face her old friend hearing such language coming from the gentle Alexx .
ALEXX: Your hands are shaking , you kept fiddling on you seat , your eyes are reds and when was the last time you ate or slept ?
CAL: For your information Alexx my hands might have been shaking because it's freaking cold in there and maybe i was fiddling on my feet because i needed to go and im sleeping and eating perfectly fine thanks for asking .
ALEXX: You have an excuse for everything dont you ? Horatio might not want to do something over your attitude and ...im going say little problem but i will Calleigh .
Calleigh stepped closer to her old friend doing her best to intimidate her but Alexx who had raised teenagers didnt back down one bit .
CAL: If you think threatening me over things you know nothing about scares me Alexx , you got something coming to you .
defying each other no one dared back down Alexx cared to much about the shell of the women that stood in front of her to back down and well Calleigh she just didnt care anymore .The door of the womens Bathroom was pushed open revealing a tipsy Maxine wobbling back and forth .
CAL: GET OUT ! she yelled at Maxine pointing .
Maxine completly dumbstruck look back and forth between the 2 women glaring at each other .
MAX: ohhhh why you 2 fighting ?she asked with a pout .
ALEXX: were not fighting me and Calleigh are just having a misunderstanding .
Maxine look back at Calleigh pouting even more .
MAX: Come on Cal were here to celebrate Frank not the time to be fighting .
CAL: what ever !
ALEXX: this isnt over Calleigh !
Grabbing her purse Calleigh dashed out of the women bathroom leaving Alexx to ponder about Calleigh state of mind and addiction.
MAX: you ok Alexx .

MAX: IM peachy !she said waving her glass of wine around !
Laughing Alexx walked out of the bathroom while Maxine made her way wobbling to the nearest stall.
After doing her business she walked out with an empty glass that was full when she came in , on the other side was the men bathroom and jake emerged just has she was .

He listened to her talk with a passion about that show he couldnt care less that she was giving him spoilers ,he found very adorable the way she express herself about every little details of the show .
Sitting in a table in the corner with Travers and others lab tech Ryan look at the back of the bar with a smile for the past 15 minutes she'd been making eyes at him to come rescue her but Ryan was having to much fun .
Finnaly he decided to stop the torture with two drinks in hand he made his way tot eh back of the bar where Natalia was being held hostage by a geeky lab tech ,
'' you know Natalia the spectrum medium of cordial agreement of interspace if very interesting ''
NAT: huh huh !
RYAN : hey Leonard how you doing ? he said handing Natalia her glass and taking her empty one .
LEO: Good Ryan , your just in time i was just explaining quatum physics to Natalia , it's very interesting .

LEO: Really thanks !
Has Leonard walked away Natalia let out a breath of relief .
NAT: About time you came to my rescue !

NAT: true ! she laughed watching has well Travers almost falling asleep from leonard explanation .

With a nod he pointed toward Calleigh who sat next to frank probably appreciating the old man quietness .
All Natalia could respond was a shrug she truly didnt know how she was, calleigh and her use to be best friend use to do everything together but ever since ric dead that had stop , no more ladies night , or sex in the city marathon over rocky roads ice cream .The only thing that got them together was Joey and even that was rare .Calleigh like eveybdy else had a soft sopt for the little boys .

Sad over her friend demises Natalia looked down at her glass swirling the red liquid around .
RYAN : You know what you should do ?
NAT: what is that?

NAT: Joey !she laughed punching ryan arms

Scanning the room she swirled her hips to the beat of the music tantalising Ryan who took a long sip of his beer along with a deep breath .Swirling around she faced ryan smilling , he looked everywhere except at her finding it very hard to keep his hands next to him .
NAT: Come onnnn dance with me , i love this song .
RYAN: im...im not a very good dancer Nat! he lied even though he was it was perfect excuse that she refused to accept .
Refusing to dance Ryan took a step back hoping she would get he was highly uncomfortable , but Natalia refused to let him smirking she took his beer bottle droped it on the nearest table and put her arms around his neck swirling her hips to the beat slowly killing ryan little by little .
With his hand on each side of his body he didnt dare touch her if he had dumb look on his face she didnt seem to notice , kept on swriling her hips and singing whatever song she seems to be singing ,when she moved her arms off his enck for a second he thought he would be fre but nope she was intend on killing hold of his hand she pulled them around her waist settling his palm on her hips and returning her own arms around his neck .
NAT: Move a little your like a corpse ! she laugh swirling her hips in front of him .
Ryan stared straigh ahead telling himself it would over when the song would be done , when would that damn song be over .When he heard the music tone down Ryan sighted he relief the torture was over , well apparantly not she was intent on torturing him to death , a slow song came on and ryan eyes widen when she moved closer his heart thumpinfg he did his best to stop his knees from buckling under him .He had not choice but to follow her lead , their height difference making it a bit difficult she rested her head on his her scent invading all of Ryan .
Unable to hold himself together ryan finnaly let himself indulged his arms tightening around her he pulled her closer ,her head resting on his shoulder her hair tickling his neck ryan closed his eyes his finger ghosting up and down her spine ,swirling her around the mischief dance floor .
To him their body molded perfectly together her nails grazing the back of his neck , ryan breath in sharply nuzzling her neck he wanted so bad to kiss her to touch in way that wasnt friendly .
Unaware of ryan inner struggle Natalia pressed herself agaisnt him she heard a faint whimper coming from him , very faint but standing close to him she couldnt deny she heard it .
The song ended a little too soon for his licking when she pulled away slighlty his arms resting on her hips hers on his chest , she smiled brightly at him but ryan heart was breaking .
NAT: Thank you wing man that was a nice dance ! she laughed patting his chest , she moved to kiss his cheek but Ryan leaned back , avoiding her eye sight .

Completly lost Ryan took another step back hitting a chair with his leg he stumble around holding himself before he made a fool out of him .
NAT: Ryan .. whats wrong ...come on lets dance again ?

Dashing out ryan walk intoanother chair then into Travers , excusing himself he walk out of the bar leaving Natalia by herself completly confused .
Walking toward the bar she sat next to Maxine ordering herself another glass of red wine .

Waving her hand around Maxine pretended to fan herself .

Outside Ryan was kneeling down his back agaisnt the wall to the side of the buidling his head between hand shaking it over and over again . Sighting in relief Ryan ran his hand through his hair sitting on the curbes he took a moment to gather himself until he heard whistling , jake walking to the side of the building .

Handing Calleigh to Maxine Jake kneeled to pull Ryan up it took a bit of work but ryan was finnaly on his feet .
JAKE: you sure your ok to drive ? he asked Natalia while he struggle to keep ryan up who was starting to fall asleep .
NAT: yeah i stop drinking when wing man here switch to whiskey .

Quickly Natalia hugged Frank goodbye and Horatio , alexx had called it a night long ago and the small group were the only left , horatio would drive Frank and it seemed Maxine had been stuck driving Calleigh and not only Jake home .

Reaching the car first Natalia opened the back door for Ryan , she thought it would be better if he lay down , wouldnt be very safe but at least he could take the short ride to sober up a bit .
Climbing into the back with Jake ryan lay all the way on the back seat straring at the ceilling of the car .

JAKE: what the hell happened ? he ask Maxine while Calleigh stumble backward toward the front door .
MAX: I simply told her we were going home when she refuse , i told her it was late and she got mad at me .
Shaking his head Jake good humor dropped it was late and he was tired in no mood to argue with a stubborn drunk Calleigh.
JAKE: Let's go Calleigh it's late.
Reaching for her hand Calleigh yank it away stumbling even more .
CAL: NO ..YOU WANTED ME TO HAVE FUN I AM SO WERE STAYING AT LEAST I AM YOU WANT TO GO ..YOU GO SEE IF I CARE !
HOR: CALLEIGH THATS ENOUGH ! WERE ALL LEAVING INCLUDING YOU .
CAL; YOU DONT TALK TO ME ..I DONT NEED YOU I DONT NEED ANYBODY .
Upset calleigh fell backward on her backside hitting her head on the side of the table , wincing in pain she held the side of her head near tears she pushed Frank hand away when he tried to help her .
When she tried to get up on her own she felt dizzy and nauseous her head throbbing in pain .Unable to argue anymore she didnt complain when Jake put his hand under her knees the other around her shoulder and pulled her against him, resting her head on his shoulder the flood gate opened ashamed of herself and her behavior .
Frank and Horatio opened the door of the bar for them followed by maxine who ran ahead to her car .
CAL: im sorry !..she sniffled against Jake shoulder
JAKE: it's alright sweetheart everyone makes fools of themself when they drunk .
CAL: I ruined Frank party .
FRANK: Now now sweet heart dont think it was a fun party got nice clubs a nice bottle of scotch ,wolfe made a fool of himself , it's a shame i wont be around to tease him .
Sniffing she smiled at Frank attempt to make her smile but it didnt reach her eyes , it never did lately .Putting her down before she step in the car Jake help her inside much like he did with Ryan .She sat with her head down she didnt bother to put her seatbelt .
Frank then step forward with a smile his hand on hers it was rare to see the grumpy old detectvie show any sign of weaknest but like any men he didnt like to see a women cry let alone one as strong has Calleigh.
FRANK: Hey why dont you and me go for a nine hole next week break in those new club what do you say .
All she gave for an answer was a shrug Frank gently squeezed her hand and step back next to Horatio Jake closed the door of the car and turned back facing the others.
JAKE: Well make sure she get home safe ! he said to frank and Horatio .
HOR: Call if you need anything , dont hesitate .
Jake shook Horatio hand while Maxine gave Frank one last long hug , sniffing has she would miss the old detective .
FRANK: ahh Maxine dont cry im not dead .
MAX: NO im crying because i have to work with him ! she said pointing to Jake who rolled his eyes at her shaking Frank hand who couldnt help but laugh along with Horatio .
FRANK; You take care of them alright ! he said giving jake hard pat on the shoulder .
JAKE: i will but it will be hard to replace you ! he said in all honesty shaking frank hand once more .
Meanwhile has she drove in an empty street stopping on a red light Natalia look back at Ryan who lay in the back seat staring straigh at the ceilling of the car .
NAT: Hey you alright ?
RYAN : no ! he said with a heavy sight
NAT: Dont you dare get sick in my car Ryan wolfe ?
When he didnt answer she looked back again to make sure he hadnt fallen asleep , it was then she notice his glassy eyes and the same look he had earlier in the bar .
NAT: Ryan , whats wrong ?
RYAN: im in love and it hurt ...it hurt so bad ...
His admission was follow by a long hard sight with his hand on his chest .
NAT: Im sorry about you and Jamsine Ryan i know how that feel and how hard you tried to make it work .

Once more she laughed thinking ryan was being a funny and drunk looking back at the road she push on the gas when the light turned green .
NAT: i love you too Ryan! she said with a giggle
RYAN : NOOO! he whined again ...im IN love with you ... so much that it hurt , your all i think about i cant stand being away from you ...when your near me i get goosebump , literally ...i love everything about you , your smile , your eye ,the way you giggle ,the way you look in the morning in you care bears pj's.
smilling at the thought ryan eyes slowly closed but he kept on talking while a completly dumbstruck Natalia remained quiet wide eyes on the road ahead gripping the steering wheel.
Another red light came on and Natalia knew her silence was heavy even though ryan confession was the due to the alcohol his words were straight and firm he certainly wasnt playing or goofing she had to give an answer something even though hse had no idea what .

Gathering all her courage she looked back at Ryan only to hear the sound of snoring and ryan eyes closed and his mouth slightly open .
In a way it reassured her that he had fallen asleep it would give her time to figure ou all of this .
On the complete other side of town Maxine drove in silence , Calleigh long snoring in the back her head leaning back and mouth open .Her and Jake had been quiet since they got into the car she still wonder how she got herself driving Calleigh home and Jake in the passenger seat .
All she had to do was drive calleigh home make sure she got in safely then drive Jake back at the bar so he could get his motorcycle and she would be done for the night or maybe she could throw Jake off the car in the middle of nowhere .
Giggling by herslef at the idea she ignored Jake weird look laughing even more when she ponder the idea of turning left at the next corner which would lead her in the glades .
JAKE: whats so funny?

Jake playfully tried ot jiggle the car door open but Maxine pushed the button locking all the doors with an evil laugh .
Jake eyes widen has he tried desperatly once more to unlock the door with not much success.
JAKE: YOUR GOING TO CUT ME UP AND THROW ME IN THE OCEAN ARENT YOU ? CALLEIGH ...CALLEIGH WAKE UP ...WAKE UP ...
MAX: she cant help you muhahahahahahanh ! she laugh unable to hold herself anymore
CAL: HMM GGRRRRR ! she mumbled in the back her head falling forward .
Already stop on a red light Maxine couldnt stop laughing , jake kept goofing around desperatly trying to get out of the car .
CAL: mbmmlllbblmmm Eric stop goofing around ...
Has both of them looked back at Calleigh the laughter tone down , usually the sight of a very drunk Calleigh half dead on the back seat would be fun but she kept mumbling eric name .
JAKE: You ok Calleigh ? he asked tentivly
CAL: hummm yes Eric !
She mumbled again falling sideway on the back seat snoring .
Pushing on the gas slowly Maxine resume her drive to Calleigh house Jake kept looking at the shell of the women he once knew in the back seat then looked back at the road .
MAX: Hey at least she had fun ? she said seeing the look of dispair on Jake face .
JAKE: yeah she did although it wasnt only alcohol induce ! he said giving Maxine a look .
Maxine looked at him then back at the road and at him again to made sure she had understood his undermeaning right .
MAX: Your not implying that she ...no not Calleigh ...she trailed off .
JAKE: This doesnt get out of this car Maxine ! he said with a firm tone .
Maxine pull the car nexto tto the curb shifting the car into park she gave Jake her attention .

With a nod Maxine look back at Calleigh in a alcohol and now other thing coma .

MAX: What did you expect Jake Eric ...Eric death it hit all of us hard some more then others ...she said with a sad look at Calleigh.

Shifting once more into drive Maxine pull out of the curb driving slowly back to Calleigh house . After a long silence she asked .
MAX: You ...you think she'll ever get back to normal .
After a moment of hesitation Jake gave his answer.
JAKE: if i had known she was like this i would have come back earlier .
MAX: You didnt answer my question jake do you thinks she will get back to normal.

Jake was down right hurt but her comment he scoffed at her pulled the door handle and before he got out said .

Gettign out of the car Jake slammed the door behind him opening the back passenger door he undid Calleigh seat belt while Maxine stared at him from the driver seat .
JAKE: Your going to help me or sit there doing nothing ? he said with a harsh tone
realising she indeed hurt him Maxine didnt reply with a nasty comment just silently undid her seat belt got out of the car and trotted to the otherside of the car where Jake was pulling a very unconcious Calleigh out of the car .
Handing Maxine Calleigh purse Jake wrap one of her arm around his shoulder supporting most of her weight while Maxine attempted to do the same .Getting her up the stair was the hard part dragging her feet Calleigh wasnt much help .
At the door Jake held a limpy Calleigh in his arms while Maxine search through her purse for for her house key , once the door was open Jake draged Caleligh through her dark house into her bedroom so angry at her that he lay her down gently but without her help Calleigh fell face first onto her bed Calleigh too drunk to protest . With the help of Maxine he rolled her over so she wouldnt choke all the help she gave them was a loud snore .
JAKE: should we ...you know i dont know undress her .
Maxine gave him a weird look stepping back from him .
MAX: Listen i dont care if you have some fetish thing but i sure aint undressing her ...i like her but not that way .
JAKE: why you always think the worst of me ? i mean just make her more comfortable you know .
MAX: Lets stick to take her shoes off and pull the blanket over her !
Putting Calleigh purse on her dresser Maxine helped take her heels off while jake pull the blanket over a snoring calleigh all spread out in the middle of the bed .
Noticing that calleigh purse had fallen on the floor Maxine kneeled to pick up gathering the thing that had spread on the floor .
She then notice something she hadnt notice when looking for Calleigh house key in her purse.
Picking up the items she look up at jake holding not one but 2 small pills bottle .
JAKE: what are they ?
MAX: Zoloft ! it was prescribed by Alexx but ..the ..the other one doesnt have a label Jake .
JAKE: what?
MAX: there is no prescription for it on that bottle , nothing ...you dont think ...she ...god Jake no .
JAKE: GOD DAMN IT CALLEIGH ! he yelled in frustation at his friend who was still unconcious in his arms , the realisation calleigh had obtain anti- depressant illegaly frustated him to a point where he was plain right angry at her .
Jake then went into her bathroom opened the medicine cabinet looking for any more pills all he found were empty bottles scattered all around , searching through her bin he found more empty bottles some with prescription others without .
Frustated jake gripped the sink with all the force he could his knuckles turning white. Meanwhile Maxine stood at the end of Calleigh bed her eyes watering at the sight of her once strong and capable friend.
She heard Jake kicked something and muther some obscenities she went to see what was his problem .
She found him pacing the bathroom muthering back and forth the garbage in Calleigh bathroom having been kick over.
JAKE: i cant believe this ...how could you...
MAX: whats your problem ?
JAKE ; how could ...how could you get to that point ...it's your fault !
MAX; EXCUSE ME !
Pointing his finger at her Jake stood closed screaming in Maxine face .
JAKE ; YOU ..HORATIO...ALEXX ...WOLFE ...NATALIA AND EVEN FRANK YOU DID NOTHING AND NOW LOOK AT HER... SHES A GOD DAMN JUNKIES AND YOU GUYS DID NOTHING .
Pushing him back with much angered maxine turned the table and now screamed into Jake face.
MAX; AND WHERE WERE YOU ...HUH ..NOWEHERE DONT YOU THINK WE TRIED ...WE TRIED BUT NEWS FLASH SHES STUBBORN ...SHE DIDNT WANT OUR HELP !
JAKE ;YOU SHOULD HAVE TRIED HARDER !
MAX: WE TRIED GOD YOU DONT KNOW HOW MANY TIME WE TRIED TO REACH OUT BUT EACH TIME SHE SHUT US DOWN ... SO DONT COME HERE ACTING ALL HIGH AND MIGHTY WHEN YOU WERENT EVEN HERE ... YOU WANT TO HELP HER BE MY GUESS ...BUT DONT GO ACCUSING EVERYBODY WHEN SHE ONLY GOT HERSELF TO BLAME .
JAKE ; DONT YOU DARE BLAME HER VALERA ...DELKO TO BLAME HE SCREW UP ..AND SHE WAS LEFT TO PICK UP THE PIECES ...
Seeing red Maxine closed the bathroom door behind her even though calleigh was asleep she didnt want to her to inadvertently overhear their conversation .Staring straigh at Jake she calmed herself pointing her finger she said
MAX: First lower your damn voices Berkeley , you want her to hear us and second dont you dare and i do mean it Jake ...dont you dare blame eric ...you ..werent ...there ...ok ...no one really knows what he was doing there and it's not like he planned to leave her , he died Jake ...ok Eric...Eric dead and it's ..It's killing her ...she loved him and now hes gone ...she lost her soulmate .
Recounting the event that lead to Eric death Maxine was having a hard time containing her emotion , her voices choking with each words and her eyes teary .
Jake was like every men he had a weakness one that was women crying that and children she wasnt technicly crying but he could see the argument had brougth on a lot out of her.
Completly lost about the whole situation he sat on the edge of her bathtub his shoulder hunched and shaking his head he calmed himself down arguing about Calleigh in her own house while she was alsspe seemed wrong right now .
JAKE: i now that Maxine ...it's just ...i ...
MAX: it's just what? she ask her voices still fill with emotion .
JAKE: Shes ...shes the only family i got ..

Looking up at Maxine Jake took a moment to think about her question hesitating for a second.
JAKE: Calleigh ...she's special to me ...i cant loose her .
He hadnt really answer her question but it wasnt her job nor did she wanted to question him further , but seeing him so defeated so angry about Calleigh told her that his feeling were strong and genuine .
MAX: shes not gone Jake !
JAKE: You cant possibly look at me and say that the women sleeping in the other room is the friend you once knew .
MAX: No but we can help her , now that we know her problem we can act .
JAKE: what you thinking ?
MAX: An intervention !
Sighting Jake pushed himself on his feet rubbing his tired eyes.
JAKE: we can try ...I'll talk to Horatio about it this week .
With a nod Maxine turned around to open the bathroom door but Jake politly strecth his arms and open the door for her .

Chuckling they walked out of the bathroom before they left they check one last time on Calleigh while Jake search for every pills he could find without prying too much Maxine left 2 aspirin and a glass of water on Calleigh night stand and apply a wet cloth on calleigh forehead .
Jake found a few half empty bottles hiden here and there and flush them in the toilet she would be angry but it was for the best .
MAX: You think you got them all .
JAKE: not sure , I'll come by tomorrow to check on her .
With one last check on Calleigh Jake adjusted her blanket over her and kiss her forehead moving a lenght of hair form her face he got no reaction out of her but snoring .Seeing this side of Jake made Maxine wonder if she had gotten the wrong impression about Jake .
JAKE: ready beautifull geek !
Nope her first impression had been right Jake was chauvanistic male , just the kind she wanted to slap right on the face .
Turning on her heels she rolled her eyes not giving him the honor of replying , following her he continue on his teasing as she open Calleigh front door .
JAKE: Hey come on you must find me amusing sometimes i know i can be funny .
MAX: IF you mean being a chauvanistic a$$ is funny then yes Jake your funny .
