first of all thanks to those who have review, like always they make my day and push me to writte and to my new reviewer keonquil im glad you gave this story another chance and read all the chapters but huh i dont want to be evil...ok ...ok i do like to be evil muahahahhah lol ...but huhh there still a good chance eric still dead you never know maybe the little devil angel on my shoulder kick the angel ass on my other shoulder lol muahhahahah who should i listen too hummm thinking thinking ...
having a bit of writter block , i do have lots of chap written but havent written anything in 2 weeks so im not sure how often i will update if i dont writte something conclusive ...
The food had been place in front of her and the tray left there but she wasn't hungry who would be with hospital food .She should be hungry she hadn't eaten anything in almost 2 days but the appetite wasn't to make things worst the nurse had decided to let the door of her room opened to give Calleigh the opportunity to walk around a bit .She did made it out of her bed but only to use the bathroom.
Looking at herself in the mirror she realized she hadn't made any progress since they brought her in the day before , her features were still ling and tired dark circles under her eyes and her bony structures madder her look weak and sick , splashing water on to her face , has she wiped her face she looked back into the mirror What would Eric think of her , what would her father think , she was raised to be a strong and independent woman not one who would grow bitter and spiteful over the lost of her lover .
Her decision to go to Hawaii was brought out of the loom ,decided out of nowhere that this might be the place to start her recover. Whether it work or not would be entirely up to her .
HAs she got herself back into bed she looked at the food of tray in front of her pushing the table away she curled back into bed and was bout to roll over to her side to look out her window when she heard a familiar voice calling in the hallway .
''JOEY GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW ''
calleigh saw a flash of 3 feet high little boy pass her room then she heard the sound of running shoes screeching on the floor before Joey double back and ran inside her smile at his blonde godmother clutching a drawing into his hand.
JOEY: AUNTIE CALLEIGH!
Joey practically threw himself at her climbing the best he could on the chair next to Calleigh bed before climbing on her bed throwing his arms around her neck .Calleigh hugged the little boy tightly bringing a smile to her face and when he kissed her cheek her heart literally melted and tears filled in her eyes .Natalia came running inside breathless and relieved that Joey had indeed found the right room .
NAT: JOEY BOA VISTA HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU !
JOEY: I know mommy but look i found auntie Calleigh .
NAT: you did but that no excuse young man .
JOEY: IM sorry mommy !
Joey did his best puppy eyes at his mother which he knew even at such a young age worked perfectly .
NAT: That boy will be the death of me i swear !
Sitting down on the chair Natalia sighted looking over at Calleigh who still looked has tired has before .
CAL: nahh that's not true is it little man ?
Tickling the little boy brought a smile over Calleigh smile his laughter was a sweet sound to her watched the scene amused and quietly she always knew Calleigh and Joey had a special connection and even though Calleigh had been absent in his life lately , her son held no grudge toward his godmother.
NAT: Ryan wanted to come but he was called at work he'll come by tomorrow .
CAL: It's alright , it's not like im invalid !
JOEY: What's in...in ...a ..lid !
CAL: Invalid Joey ...it's like someone who can't take care of themselves .
JOEY: ohhh !...mommy said you were sick ...are you sick ?
Calleigh looked over Natalia who looked down at the ground not sure has to what to say to her son , how could you explain a suicide attempt to a 3 years old boy .
CAL: yes Joey im sick .
Joey leaned down nest to her his head on the pillow laying on his side he stroke Calleigh long blond hair .
JOEY: is that why you always sad ?
Calleigh closed her eyes for a second has the tears threatens to fall , Natalia didn't know exactly what to do she opted to stay quiet to get Calleigh to open up , even if it was to her son .
CAL: yes Joey ..thats why im sad .
JOEY: I get sick too sometimes ...it' s not fun! Don't be sad ...when im sad mommy kiss me to make it better ...want me to kiss you ?
Smiling at the innocence of her boy Natalia was amazed when Calleigh nodded and Joey put his 2 hand on both her cheek and kissed Calleigh forehead , just like Natalia would do when Joey would be sick .
CAL: Thank you Joey ...i do feel better .
JOEY: I draw this for you .
CAL: wow ..what ...what is it ?
JOEY: it's bumblebee!
CAL: Bumblebee?
Joey looked at calleigh like she was downright stupid forming a frown on his face just like a child could do .
NAT: Calleigh might not know the transformer Joey .
Excited about having to explain his favorite movie to his auntie calleigh Joey sat on his heels and began reciting everything he knew about the transformer by the time he was done Calleigh knew without a doubt who bumblebee was .
CAL: sounds like a really cool movie !
JOEY: it's weally weally weally cool !
CAL: Are you excited about Christmas coming ?
JOEY: ohh yes yes ... Ryan bought a real Christmas twee ..its humongous .
CAL: Humongous huh ..thats pretty cool .
JOEY: hummm ...you want to come to our house for Christmas !
Calleigh could see the hope in his eyes has well as in Natalia , knowing she would disappoint them once again broke her heart .
CAL: I don't think so Joey ...i'll be away .
NAT: Away ?
CAL: yes I've decided to take some times off and go somewhere .
NAT: where ?
CAL: Hawaii!
JOEY: where that ?
CAL: it's a big big island surrounded by crystal blue waters .
JOEY: will you bring me something back ?
CAL: of course i wouldn't forget my little guy !
CAL: Joey ...i know ...i know i haven't been around much ...but i love you and that will never change .
JOEY: I t's because your sad ... i know !
CAL: Your a smart boy you know that ?
JOEY: That's what mommy says .
For a moment they lay together quietly in their own little world whispering between them things that Natalia didn't understand but she gladly stay in the back watching Calleigh life light up for a moment from the contact of her son .
JOEY: Auntie Calleigh ?
CAL: Humm !
JOEY: can ... can i have your jello ..pleaaaaase !
A full burst of laughter came out of Calleigh she had been suspicious of the little boy wanting the jello for a while when he kept glaring at it every five second , is short attention span distracted .And the shy way he asked made her heart ache for all the good reasons .
CAL: After making such a beautiful drawing you sure do !
Opening the jello for him he took the spoon and took a big mouthful smiling at Calleigh with his mouth open .
NAT: now what do we say Joey ?
JOEY: thank you !
NAT: why Don't you go sit over there so the adults can talk ok sweety .
Joey nodded holding his jello in his hand before being carry down the bed by his mother and quietly heading to the second chair in the corner eating his jello .
For a moment Natalia remained quiet watching Calleigh focusing on her son sitting quietly not disturbing anyone like the good boy he was .She was glad that Joey presence had brought a rare smile on Calleigh face .She had hesitate about bringing Joey she didn't want her son to see someone has depressed has calleigh at such a young age but now knew it was the right choice .
But soon that smile faded away replaced by a sadness that Natalia was too familiar with , her eyes filled with tears , hand clutching clutching the small hospital blanket she sunk back against the bed .
Reaching for her hand Natalia tried to reassure her but Calleigh squatted her hand away trying to speak her mouth open but no words came out , she wiped the tears falling on her cheek quickly , flashes of Eric playing with a little boy or girl just the age of Joey came to her .
She glance back to Joey who was enjoying his jello with no care in the world , his ever prominent smile on his face .
CAL: He would have loved him !
She spoke more to herself then Natalia but she got the meaning looking back at her son , Natalia reminisce on the many time she had wished Eric would have been there to see Joey grow up and how good of an uncle he would have been to him , one day when Joey would be old enough to understand she would tell him about uncle Eric .
NAT: yes...yes i think he would .
Darting her eyes toward Natalia surprised that she knew what calleigh meant , but again she shouldn't be that surprised she had been selfish to think that she had been the only one affected by Eric death but everyone around her had been , his family especially.
CAL: You shouldn't have come Natalia !
NAT: Joey wanted to see you and ..so do i .
CAL: its not healthy for him to see me like this !
NAT: look at him Calleigh ..i mean really look at him he loves you and he's all smile right now eating his jello all he wants is for you to stop being sad .
She gave no answer back , having no idea what to answer to Natalia , truth was she didn't know how to be happy anymore , nothing made her happy not even her beloved armory made her happy .
NAT: Can i ask you a question ?
CAL: it was an accident Natalia i swear !
For a second Natalia was lost staring at Calleigh until she got what she meant .
NAT: i ..i wasn't asking about that , by the way i believe you ...
The two women blink at each other i a sort of uneasy silence that made the situation even more awkward .
NAT: I wanted ...i guess ..i wanted to ask if ...if you meant what you said yesterday at dinner.
Closing her yes for a minutes Calleigh berated herself quietly , yesterday at been her lowest point , not only had she been horrible to her friend but hse had OD has well accident or not today Calleigh Duquesne could have been no more .
CAL: Natalia , yesterday ...yesterday i wasn't right ..the things I've said ...the way I've been ...i..i've been horrible ...and im..im sorry if i hurted your feeling .
NAT: im ..im glad you apologized Calleigh , but ..i ...i that's not what i was asking , although its appreciated .
Pushing her chair closer she looked back at Joey who was done with is jello and now playing with his favorite hot wheels car .To make sure Joey would hear Natalia kept her voice low.
NAT: Do you...do you really think ..that huh ..that i take Ryan for granted ..that i use him.
CAL: Nat like i told you im not ...
NAT: NO calleigh ...please Don't use any excuse i...i really care about Ryan and i know about his feelings for me and the last thing i want to do is hurt him so now i could really use some honesty .
Helpless Natalia stared at Calleigh who seemed to processed everything Natalia had just said pouring her heart out to her .
CAL: Honestly ...i think he's too good for you ...
Completely overwhelmed by Calleigh admission Natalia leaned back against her chair fighting off tears , not because of what had calleigh said but because the truth hurt more then she thought .
CAL: But ...if you would only let him love you i think you could be good for him.
Looking back at Joey to check on him to make sure he wasn't hearing their conversation , even though they were speaking low Joey was very acute of everything around him .
CAL: What the hell are you afraid of Natalia .
NAT: probably the same thing you were about Eric .
Pausing for a second before she readjusted herself higher on her bed to be eye to eye with her friend , Calleigh decided on that moment to be the friend she hadn't been to Natalia in the last three years .
CAL: If you mean afraid of being happy or hurting him or getting yourself hurt then yes Natalia I did felt the same way you did , i was so afraid that i spend years ignoring what my heart felt , searching for something that was right in front of me , then yes Natalia i was afraid but look where it got me !
NAT: It's not only me i have to think about Calleigh what if me and Ryan we give this a shot and it doesn't work out Joey ...i can't let Joey loose Ryan ...i mean if it doesn't work out i,I'll get over it eventually but Joey ...that another story .
CAL: OK you know what Natalia right now i Don't have the energy to fight with you over but this but im going to say this , look at your boy , really look at him , you can't tell me you Don't see some of Ryan in him , he might not be Joey biological father but that's his son right here .That boy does everything Ryan do , the way he scratch his head when he thinks , his charming ways and please Don't tell me he doesn't arranged his toys in order ...
A small smile crept over Natalia face as she looked at her soon smiling back at then .
NAT: He started doing that after he spent a weekend with Ryan .
CAL: See you got nothing to worry about , Ryan is that boy father DNA or no DNA and that will never chance all he's waiting is for you to give him a chance .
NAT: But what if doesn't work out .
CAL: SERIOUSLY ! have you been listening to what i just said !
NAT: I have Calleigh im just ...
CAL: Afraid! and now where back to square one ! she sighted in defeat to tired to explain again to Natalia why she should give Ryan a chance.
Exhaling Natalia rubbed the side of her face seeing the tired look on Calleigh face .
NAT: Come on Joey come say goodbye to auntie Calleigh .
Joey ran to the side of Calleigh bed being lifted into the bed by his mother he gave Calleigh a long tight hug .
But Calleigh held on a little bit longer she hadn't been a very good god mother to Joey and wanted to explain herself the best she could to a 3 years old.
CAL: Listen buddy i know...i know i haven't been a good godmother to you but i promised once i come back you and i we will spend lots of time together ok.
JOEY: whe'e you going ?
CAL: To a place where a friend wanted to take me call Hawaii .
JOEY: Is it far ?
CAL: It's an island , so yeah pretty far.
JOEY: Will you bring me something back ?
NAT: JOEY!
Calleigh couldn't help herself she had to laugh at the pout Joey made at her and his mother .
CAL: Of course i'll bring you something back .
Tickling Joey she smiled at the giggle that came out of her godson , until his mother took him back and put him back on the ground has they were still laughing .
NAT: Don't ..dont be a stranger ok , try using the phone once in a while .
CAL: I can't promise i'll call every week but i'll try .
With a nod Natalia hugged her best friend has if it was the last time she would get to do so has they left Calleigh waved at Joey until they were out of sight .Laying back on her bed she felt some sort of relief going through her , looking forward to something . She just had to take care of one last thing before she left and she would be free to go .
A loud bang was heard through the locker rooms of the Miami Dade department lab , with hesitance Michael Travers stepped inside the lockers , quickly he located the source of the commotion . Maxine Valera had empty the content of her locker and purse on the floors .
MIC: huh sweet heart what you doing ?
MAX: I LOST SOMETHING .
Searching through her content scattered on the floor Maxine was hysteric and near tears .
MIC: I can see that , maybe if you tell me what it is i can help you .
Exhaling deeply Maxine took a moment to gather herself wiping the tears that hadn't yet fallen .
MAX: My grandmother necklace its a gold heart shape i lost it ...its over 100 years old if i lost it my mom going to kill me .
MIC: OK calm down where was the last time you had it .
MAX: Yesterday i put it on in the morning like usual , then this morning i realized i didn't have it with me .
MIC: Did you ask the front desk maybe someone brought it back ?
MAX: I did i checked my car the lab my house i can't find it!
MIC: Retrace your stop it has to be somewhere when the last time you had it ?
Closing her yes Maxine thought about the last time she remembered the necklace being around her neck.
MAX: THE HOSPITAL ! i remembered because i held onto it when we were waiting on news for Calleigh and then i went home and then i went to see j...

Waiting for answer Michael saw Maxine grew wider until she picked her things onto he floor in a hurry putting everything back into her purse and lockers .

Slamming her locker she grabbed her purse around her shoulder with a frowned she walked away leaving Michael Travers even more confused .

Unaware that a storm was coming Jake Berkeley was at his desk feet up on his desk leather boots crossed at the ankles , dangling his chair on the 2 back legs ,throwing ball of paper into the garbage can while he talk on the phone stuck between his ear and shoulder to his old friend from ATF, Dean Craven .
JAKE: Im telling you dude just admit it she wants me !
DEAN : yeah yeah get off your high horse and listen for a second .
JAKE: Alright shoot !
DEAN: Coleman i got a hold of him, i told you wanted to contact him and he agree .
JAKE: great where ?
DEAN: pier 19 at noon tomorrow , don't be late cause he hates waiting .

Hanging up has he laughed Jake looked at his watch his shift was almost over and he would got to check on Calleigh if everything went according to plan she would be out tomorrow .

Startled Jake fell backward on the ground his legs dangling in the air has a few deputy laughed at him .Rubbing the back of his head Jake look up to see the angry glared of Maxine looking down at him .
JAKE: Has anyone told you , your cute when your angry !
MAX: SHUT UP !
Pushing himself on his feet with smirk Jake hooked his thumb into his pocket standing a bit too close for comfort to Maxine .Rolling her eyes she grabbed his arms and pulled him away from prying eyes .
JAKE: I guess the little lady want some privacy ! He told some deputy who laughed at them while Maxine pulled him forward , finding the nearest supply closet she opened the door and pushed him inside , his back colliding with the nearest shelf.
JAKE: whoa there little lady no need to go rough if you wanted a quickie all you had to do was asked .
MAX: GOD SHUT UP JUST SHUT UP !

Holding his chest where she had slap him Jake frowned at Maxine while she boiled red at him .

Poking her finger at his chest she stepped closer trying to intimidate the detective who instead found her even more adorable.
MAX: Now listen pal , i know man like you ok , i know your kind !
JAKE: and what kind is that exactly ?
MAX: The kind of man who would deliberately keep something that belong to a woman just so she would call you back , but just in case you didn't notice i despised you so give me my necklace back .
JAKE: You didn't seem to despised me the other night.
MAX: God to you hear yourself !
JAKE: Yes and most of the time i do like hearing myself .
The more she got angry the more that his smirk grew wider and the more his smirk grew wider the more she got angry , they were definitely stuck in a loophole .
MAX: Look Jake im not here to play game can you just give me my necklace back !

Growling Maxine swirled around yanking the door open pushing past the 3 deputies listening in , she left before Jake could explain that he was having her necklace fixed .

Walking out Jake smirk at the deputies but kept his mouth shut while they wolf whistle at him
