Hell everyone first and foremost i must apologise for the lack of update on my part , i was having major writers block adding that to the lack of Eric and calleigh scenes on the show didnt help :( . I know some of you will be dissapointed that this chap is not a calleigh one but i needed to get this one out before i focus back on Calleigh so please give it a shot , im not entirely satisfied with the way it came out but what can you do , after 2 months i was frustated so this what came out so please be nice . :)
A loud snickering was heard inside the DNA lab , Natalia and Maxine had trouble keeping their cool while Natalia explain in every single details the way Ryan and Jake looked the last time she seen them.
NAT: You should have seen them argue over their shoes i swear they looked like 12 year old teen ages girls.
Giggling Maine put in the results of her sample into the computer waiting for a match .
MAX: And where is the object of your affection at this time .
NAT: Ohh him and Jake should be here soon !
MAX: humm now thats odd !
NAT: What ? did you get a match yet ?
Turning away from her computer Maxine smile mischievously at Natalia .
MAX: Now i meant that its odd that you didn't argue with me !
NAT: Argue with you why would i argue with you ?
MAX: Well usually when i mention Ryan has your being the object of your affection you always argue that hes not , a bit too much i must add, but now you didn't even flinch !
Natalia clearly looked like a deer caught in headlights even though she tried to hide it by swirling around back to her work station but Maxine Valera wasn't born yesterday .
Literally trotting toward Natalia work station Maxine was glooming with delight .
MAX:Soooo tell me what happened ?
NAT: Nothing happened , ...hey did you get the samples from Dr Lohman !
MAX: Yes i did and don't change the subject so tell me what happened ? did you finally rock his socks off ? saw him naked ? ohhhh i know you finally walked in on him getting out of the shower and your having wet hot dreams about him and now you cant look at him in the eyes ?
Natalia stared at Maxine with wides eyes , blinking over and over while Maxine was glowing with excitement that Natalia had finally come to her sense about Ryan .
NAT:ARE YOU INSANE ! ...Where the hell do you come up with those things !
MAX: PFFt pleaaaase ..don't deny that you dont want to know whats under those polo shirt he wears ?
Moving away from her work station Natalia rolled her eyes at Maxine she wanted the subject closed and over with and thought that leaving her question unanswered would close the subject but that was not knowing Maxine Valera very well .
MAX: Don't you roll you eyes at me Natalia Boa vista now spill the beans or i will squeeze it out of you !
Sighting Natalia put her report away and turned around facing her friend who waited with much impatience .
NAT: OK first nothing change , Ryan and I , are still best friends ...
MAX: LIAR ! she laughed at Natalia ...Im sure you , yourself don't even believe that.
NAT: Will you stop , your like a child sometimes ! and concerning whats under those polo shirt i already knows what under them i don't need to fantasized about it .
MAX: I KNEW IT ! WHEN ? DOES HE HAVE A SIX PACK ...IM SURE HES ALL MUSCLE UNDER THERE ?
Laughing Natalia shook her head at Maxine and thought about torturing her a bit more and let her own mind wander to the first time she had seen Ryan shirtless , it hadn't been during their one night stand after all both of them had kept most of their clothes on , no it had been 2 years later after that night during the lab picnic at the beach where the man engage in a all alpha male game of football where most of them took their shirt off from the excruciating Miami heat . Natalia had ashamedly stared of course but at felt a little guilty staring at her best friend Adonis body that he kept safely hidden under those say polo shirt .
MAX: HEY STOP DAY DREAMING AN TELL ME !
NAT: Alright fine it was during last year picnic at the beach , the boys got into a pick up game of football and some took their shirt off thats it , nothing to write the love column about .
MAX: DAMN I KNEW I SHOULD HAVE GONE !
For once thought he subject closed and over with but again Maxine pushed the subject .
MAX: SO ...is our little Ryan an Adonis or is he skinny and pale under there ?
NAT: Will you stop we have work to do .
MAX:Ohh please those people are dead already they not getting ..well more dead plus im waiting for my result to finish so don't worry about that ! come one spill ...shoot ...describe in every details .
NAT: I will once you tell me whats going between you and a certain detective ?
Maxine gasped appalled that Natalia would bring Jake up , squirting her eyes at her .
MAX: Oh thats low Natalia ! but well play ...well play .
While the girls where bickering about their love life or lack of it another more important drama was taking fold in the pushed the glass door leading into the building in a hurry , he choose the stairs instead of the elevator he didn't have time to wait , if the phone call he just received from Calleigh was any indication Stetler was up to no good .
Running up the stairs he went through the conversation he had with Calleigh again after first inquiring about how the litigation had gone , he was at first relieved at how it had ended for her , maybe once he told her the truth about Eric maybe she could find happiness but 2then worry struck him when she mentioned how Stetler had kindly threaten the team and Horatio went into his usual protective mode , rushing back to the lab before rick did anymore damaged .
Has he kept running he came short of breath stopping in the middle of the stairs Horatio held a hand to his chest feeling a shooting pain through his chest , wincing at the pain he had no choice but to sit on the stairs has the pain overtook him .
Over the last few years Horatio body had begun to fail him , he was tired it that plain and simple he should slow down and go be the grandfather to kyle baby but it seemed that Miami wasn't ready to let him go , everyday there was a new case , new people to help or had always thought that Calleigh would take his place when the the time would come but now he wasn't so sure this time would ever come , Calleigh was in no shape to take over , he wasn't even sure she would ever come back to work and will she forgive him for lying about Eric fate .So now Horatio was at a crossroad sure he had lots of potential candidate in his team to take over but Calleigh had always been special to him .
Gathering all his strength Horatio pushed himself on his feet and climb the last few stairs leading to the lab , passing Paula at the eh front desk he ignore the worry look she gave him at the pale color of his face .
With his sunglasses i hand Horatio rushed in the hallway looking for his team he only found Maxine and Natalia at work in their the moment he pushed the door he heard the usual banter between the 2 ladies .
MAX: So you planning on kissing Ryan under the mistletoe this year!
NAT: Alright now Maxine im warning you stop with the Ryan reference and get some work done.
MAX: Ahh the truth hurt doesn't it ?
NAT: Your incorrigible !
MAX: Thats why you liked me !
Clearing his throat even Horatio had to smile at their playfull banter .
HOR : Ladies !
NAT: Hey Horatio i was just about to call you there no match in the database .
HOR: Thank you but thats not why im here , i've just received a phone call from Calleigh and ...
NAT: CALLEIGH ! How is she doing ?
Eager to learn more about Calleigh litigation Natalia interrupted Horatio before he could further explain has the 2 womens step closer waiting for an answer.
HOR: Her litigation went well , although i am happy about that there are other more important issues at hand .
NAT: Whats going on ?
HOR: CAlleigh informed me that after the litigation was over she had some sort of confrontation with sergeant Stetler and that he made some sort of threat toward the team .
MAX: pfft that no news ...Stetler a little weasel who doesn't know how to tie his own shoes .
HOR: That may be so Miss Valera but Calleigh told me he seemed a bit too content and she also said he spend a certain amount of time on the phone with someone .
NAT: So what are we supposed to do about it ?
HOR: Im having a team meeting to discuss it before Stetler can make his moves , you wouldn't happen to know where are Mr Wolfe and Mr Berkeley i tried calling them but they not answering .
Suppressing her own smile has she thought about the last time she had seen the state of Ryan nd Jake ,Natalia couldn't hide the giggle that came out has she answer Horatio.
HOR: they ...huh they had a little incident while chasing a suspect .
HOR: AN incident ?are they ok ?
MAX: If you don't count the fact that Ryan probably having a panic attack cause of the germs yeah they alright ! she answer for Natalia has they both giggle .
NAT: they ell into some garbages and where covered in some goo that i don't even want to know what it was so they went into the locker room to change and shower .
HOR: Would you mind getting them for me .
NAT: No sure , i'll be right back.
Worried about the situation Natalia didn't waste any times and rushed toward the locker rooms to find both Jake and Ryan .
It didn't take time to find Jake he came out of the locker room just has she was coming in .has he was putting his holster back on he glared at the woman that let them walked back ten blocks covered in goo .
JAKE: Came to check if we made it alive , did you ?
NAT: ahh stop complaining like a girl , you made it back alive .
JAKE: yeah but my feet are killing me and Wolfe obsessing about the germs he might have caught .
Laughing Natalia shook her head picturing Ryan obsessing over the germs or disease he might have caught .
NAT; so i came t tell you guys that were having a team meeting .
JAKE: Team meeting ? problem with the case ?
NAT: No problem with Stetler .
JAKE: What does that weasel wants again ?
NAT: Weasel ? really Jake? weasel ? sounds like something Maxine would say not you !
Rolling his eyes at her Jake thought of a quick reply .
JAKE: You know your starting to sound like her !
NAT: You should know since you know..you too are spending so much quality time together .
Raising his hand in defense Jake took a step back none the less laughing at Natalia teasing .
JAKE: Alright im going to walk away now .
NAT: Alright i'm just going to find Ryan .
JAKE: ahh hoping to catch him naked are you ?
NAT: Now who's sounding like Maxine ? she laughed ignoring his teasing .
The last thing Natalia heard has she walked into the he locker room was Jake mumbling something has he quickly walked away before she could tease him further .
Knowing full well where Ryan locker as she walked blindly to the middle range of the locker noticing a few other worker on the way .
Then she stop on her track her eyes widening she caught herself staring at the sight in front of her ,A shirtless Ryan still fresh from the shower wiping his upper torso wearing jeans that were way too tight for a men to be legal .
Blinking a few times she watch water droplet going down down ...down ...before he spray his body with a old spice body spray .
RYAN : Hey Natalia !
Then he was next to her close very close too close for her liking .
RYAN : Tell me do i still smell bad ?
Awkwardly and hesitating she moved closer has if he wasn't already close enough for her and took a few breath against his neck .Truth be told she had a flashback of the old spice commercial with Ryan on a horse a boat or whatever that dude was doing during the commercial .
her heart racing a million miles per hour she suddenly realized she was having less then pure thought about Ryan and doing things to him tat would makes a nun blush and condemned her to hell for all eternity .
RYAN : So ? do i still smell like i took a bath in horse manure ?
NAT: You smell hot...i mean nice ...you smell nice !
Pestering herself has Ryan turned around to put a shirt on has she thank god he finally did so
RYAN : Thanks by the way for making us walk back .
NAT: Just thought you and Jake could use the exercises !
She tried to tease and joke but it wasn't coming out right her mind was still focusing on him , it hadn't been the first time and probably wouldn't be the last that she saw Ryan shirtless and if she had been honest with herself she had even caught herself fantasizing about him a times , ok more then a few times and she always ended up brushing it off , but now she was seeing him into a new light , like something that had been there for her take all long but had been blind to see .
RYAN : Hey your alright , you seem elsewhere ?
NAT: humm...ohh yeah i find ...i huh ..i came to tell you Horatio having a team meeting apparently Calleigh told him something about stetler being at it again and he seems worried .
RYAN : Right Calleigh , how did that go ?
NAT: From what Horatio told us it went well , i'll call her later to know more .
RYAN : Great i'll just throw my jacket in the garbage and join i'll join , want to wait for me.
NAT : Sure !
Walking toward the nearest garbage carefully holding the tainted jacket he had been wearing earlier when he fell into the goo , Ryan sighted has he look at the state of his favorite jacket , a few washing could have probably save it , but Ryan would been caught death before he wore again anything that had touch the '' unknown goo '' he fell into .
''HOLD IT RIGHT THERE ''' came a voice that made then cringe , turning around they came face to face with Stetler his man , Horatio who had a sorry look upon his face , behind him stood Jake and Maxine with the same look on their face .
RYAN : Guys ? he ask wondering what was going on .
STETLER: Drop the Jacket Mister Wolfe and step away.
RYAN : WHAT ? H whats going on ?
HOR: I'm sorry Mr Wolfe ...
STETLER: ENOUGH! AGAIN MR WOLFE DROP THE JACKET AND STEP AWAY !
Doing has he was told one of Stetler man immediately picked up wincing at the state and smell of the jacket.
'' and here i thought this guy was a neat freak''
RYAN : I Fell while chasing a suspect alright ! Now can someone please tell me whats going on.
STETLER: We have received information concerning your off duty activities !
RYAN : Such has ?
STETLER: Illegal gambling ...
RYAN : what !
STETLER : Drug use ...
RYAN : EXCUSE ME !
STETLER : Fraternization with csi Boa Vista ...
RYAN ; NOW WAIT A MINUTE ...
NAT: THATS UNFAIR ...
STETLER : And finally spousal abuse .
RYAN : JASMINE I KNEW IT ! THATS HER ISN'T IT ?
STETLER ; I am not a liberty to divulge my source .
RYAN : I'M BEING ACCUSE OF THINGS I DIDN'T DO , I HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW WHO'S ACCUSING ME !
HOR: Hes right Rick Ryan has the right to defend himself .
STETLER: ohh he'll get his turn don't worry , in the meantime this a warrant for Csi Boa Vista house , confirming that you 2 are indeed fraternising...
NAT; HAVEN'T YOU HEARD OF HELPING PUT A FRIEND STETLER , GUESS NOT SINCE YOU NEVER HAD ANY !
Rick shot Natalia a look but before he could say anything back , the man that been searching his jacket while another was carelessly searching Ryan locker , got his attention opening the palm of his hand .
'' i found this inside his jacket ''
Smirking Rick Rik took the small plastic bag with the greeny dried leaf substance Ryan had confiscated earlier .
RYAN: I can explain ...
RICK: Ohh i can wait to hear it ! he smirk at Ryan knowing he finally had him .
RYAN: It's not what you think i confiscated that earlier from a suspect !
NAT: I can vouch for it i was there ...
JAKE: Me too it came from a suspect .
RICK: And you didn't sign it has contraband ?
RYAN: I for got about it ok , alright its not like there was enough to arrest the guy there barely a gramm in there .
RICK : As a law officer you should know that drugs are drugs csi Wolfe no mather what ?
HOR: And you should also know that according to the law less then a gramm is not enough to make an arrest Rick !
RICK: He still should have sign it has contraband who's to say he wouldn't taken it home and use for himself .
NAT: OK first off all Ryan not a drug user and second and foremost he lives with me and wouldn't use any drug in front of my son .
RICK: Again miss Boa Vista you just confirm my suspicion about you 2 fraternizing !
NAT: WERE ROOMMATE ! ROOMMATE GET THAT TO YOUR THICK SKULL !
RICK ; i suggest you stop talking before you get yourself into more trouble ...Mr Wolfe until further notice you are suspended without paid pending further investigation , while Miss Boa vista you be confined to the lab pending further investigation has well .
NAT : WHAT?
RYAN : WHAT ? SHE DID NOTHING WRONG , NEITHER HAVE I !
RICK ; Thats still up to debate !
RYAN : H !
HOR: Do what he says for now Mr Wolfe until i find a solution .
RICK: You wont find a loophole for this one Horatio im sorry .
The smile on his face showed Horatio that Rick wasn't at all sorry about nothing , rather enjoying it .
HOR:All that is very well Rick but how am i supposed to solve a case without any csi .
RICK: I told you long ago that you should have hired new member for you team but you didn't listen ...but i see your point ...
Looking around the room Rick spotted a rather heavy black man opening his locker , while glancing at the scenes taking fold a few meter away from him .
RICK: HEY YOU !
'' Me'' the black man turn around pointing to himself .
RICK: yeah you ! Come here ! he said snapping his finger and pointing to the ground .
RICK: Whats your name again ?
'' Csi Walter simmons , sir i work the graveyard shift '' he said half grunting at Rick , Csi simmons had been working at the lab for over 5 years , working the night shift , everyone knew him even those who work the day shift but yet this man who had made a career of snooping around didn't even know his name.
RICK: right...right ...well congratulation you got a promotion , your working the day shift from now on , go see Horatio for further instruction .
Looking back between Horatio and Rick , Walter felt uneasy like he was out of place .
WALTER: huh sir i barely just finish a 12 hours shift its not that i don't want to help but maybe i should get some rest .
RICK: Yeah well thats not my problem .
Sighting Walter moved toward Horatio who had his hand on his hip taping his gun with his finer , he knew Walter simmons was a good csi that wasn't the problem , the problem was that Rick was making decision for him and even though Horatio had ponder many time getting simmons on his team he still wish it hadn't been done by forcing the young man arm .
HOR: Mr simmons please see detective Berkeley he'll ill you in on the case .
Smiling at the young man he reassured him that he showed no animosity toward him knowing it wasn't his fault .
RICK: Great now that its done ...reching into his pocket Rick took out a small plastic cup to which he handed to Ryan .
RYAN : DRUG TEST YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME !
RICK: Protocol is protocol Mr Wolfe !
Grumbling Ryan headed back toward the men bathroom being followed by one of Rick men he turned around to glared at the men .
RYAN : A LITTLE PRIVACY PLEASE !
'' im must make sure you don't try anything funny sir ''
RYAN : I swear Jasmine will pay for this !
While Ryan headed into the bathroom stall under the watch full eyes of Rick man Paula came in looking for Horatio.
PAULA: Horatio , im sorry to disturb you but there someone on the phone for you !
HOR: Can you take a message ?
PAULA : I tried sir but he insisted i find you he said it was important m he also said his name was Mark Coleman.
At the mention of the name Jake face turn toward Horatio and look back at him has well , were there closer to tell calleigh the truth only if he took the call will he know .
HOR: I'll be right there in a minute .
Smiling Paula went back to work just has Ryan was coming out the cup having been filled he handed to rick who in turn put it in a evidence plastic bag .
RICK: Alright ,now for the search warrant .
NAT: Is that really necessary ?
RICK: Yes im afraid so !
RYAN : Im sorry Natalia !
NAT: It' s not your fault Ryan .
HOR: Jake i want you to fill csi Simmons on the case , Ryan just do what he said and everything will be alright i'll join you has soon as finish my call alright .
Nodding Ryan and Natalia followed Rick and his men outside , Horatio followed them has well at least escorting them to the elevator , has the door were closing between them Horatio once again told Ryan and Natalia that everything would be alright and then turned to Rick .
HOR: And rick this isn't over ! he said before leaving to take the call .
Everyone left in different direction , Maxine went back to work but something was nagging at her ,talking to herself she enter her lab .
MAX: Coleman ...coleman ...where did i hear that name before...
