I was a researcher, nothing more. I wasn't one of those daring adventurers who traveled the regions battling gym leaders. No, I was one of those people who provided research for the greater good of pokémon. Being the daughter of a professor I was bound since birth to the countless days of researching the various types of pokémon.
It had all started when I was eight and my father, Professor Elm, and some of his associates were contemplating a way to make it easier to view the stats of pokémon. After a long day of research my father had come back up stairs to the house. There I showed him my idea of a hand-held device that would list the pokémon stats upon seeing them in which it automatically records the data. Since then I have been doomed to siting at a desk researching countless pokémon and compiling the data for the device which had been dubbed the pokédex. That's what I was doing now.
I sat downstairs at my brown wooden desk with an enormous stack of papers piled to the side. In front of me I had my laptop connected with the pokédex system so I could store the information on the papers into the system. Throughout the lab machines clicked and whirled in a constant rhythm as some of my father's associates hacked away on them. I took a paper that had a picture of a pokémon and its stats from the stack that read, METANG. Quickly I entered the pin of the pokémon and all of its other traits. Once I was done I moved on to the next one, and then the next one, and the next. This continued on for a few hours until the door to the lab suddenly brushed open.
My father came striding through with a boy about my age.
"Kyra!" My father shouted. "I would like you to meet someone." My cheeks blushed red slightly embarrassed by my father. Slowly I lifted myself up from my desk and strode over to where he stood talking to his guest. The boy had black hair and brown eyes. He wore a cap on his head and had a yellow trainer bag slung over his shoulder.
"Kyra, I would like you to meet Ethan, Ethan this is my daughter Kyra." I leaned forward and shook his hand saying hi as I did.
"Ethan will be running an errand for me. He's going to go out to Elton city to pick up an artifact from the gym leader there that owns the museum."
