Young Dracula Season 3: Outtakes
Wow, I didn't realise this but in actually wrote these outtake when season 4 was only just airing... eerie.
Anyway, another addition to an outtake. I'm putting all my additions/rewrites today because they have been bugging me for a while and now I'm motivated to do them I want to get as many done as possible
I don't own YD.
Sleepover – based between episodes 1 and 2 of season 3
Erin was not at all comfortable in her coffin, it was itchy and she had no duvet to cover her which meant she was cold.
Erin got out of the coffin feeling frustrated at the lack of sleep, she was a slayer for crying out loud this was the kind of thing she should do easily. The problem was that this was her first 'field mission' as the slayers would put it and it wasn't even official.
Erin knew she was not ready for this, she never had been. Slayers didn't start slaying until they were eighteen, or at least normally. Recently – since Vladimir Dracula had been announced the Chosen One – the slayers rushed children through slayer school so they could get into the field as soon as possible.
Before that from the ages of sixteen to eighteen, the children would have test field missions. They would go through seriously intensive scrutiny before they were even allowed to go on a mission, and even when they did they would normally be with a more experienced slayer.
Yet, here she was at seventeen doing a field mission that wasn't even official and probably the most dangerous one ever.
Erin had to admit to herself, despite her lack of self-esteem, she had got further than any slayer normally would. She had got into the Dracula residence, Erin even felt like she might be trusted slightly especially by Vlad.
Vlad...
Erin sighed, if the slayers found out that he trusted her they would not hesitate to take advantage of it. However, would Erin cooperate? Probably, especially if it saved her brother's life. The problem was that she was beginning to actually feel sympathy for the Dracula's she was beginning to understand why they all were the way they were and why they reacted so intensely to the slayers.
She then heard the whooshing noise of someone flitting next to her and jumped in fright.
"What are you still doing up?" Vlad asked softly, he had heard the creaking of her sneaking past his room when she left her own room. "I thought you were sleeping."
"I couldn't sleep," Erin admitting turning to Vlad and he smiled sympathetically.
"You'll get used to it," At that Vlad brushed a small chunk of hair out of Erin's eye, managing not to touch her skin to Erin's relief.
Erin could feel her heart beating like mad, she was worried that Vlad might hear it but still he didn't notice it. Vlad was similarly affected, but due to the fact he didn't have a heart beat his heart didn't rush.
"How about we go downstairs, warm up with some hot chocolate, curl up and watch some TV?" Vlad suggested with a slightly mischievous smile remembering when him and Robin used to do something similar only four years ago.
"That would be nice," Erin admitted, glad he had suggested something normal but was also surprised that he had suggested something normal – as in breather normal, not vampire normal.
Vlad grinned, relieved that she had said 'yes'. "Come with me."
He led Erin through a series of the normal damp corridors until they came to a door that looked like the ones in the main school. In the room was a couple of sofas, a TV, some games consoles as well as what looked like an adjoining study room, full of desks and chairs, and a... kitchen.
"This is the sixth form common room," Vlad informed Erin. "No one ever comes in here because it's at the wrong end of the school so I practically own this place. The kitchen is there as my own kind of hideout for foods I don't want Dad knowing about, because he doesn't really like breather food.
Erin giggled slightly, a result of sleep deprivation and sat in on one of the sofa's curling up trying to stay warm.
With a click of his fingers the fireplace was lit along with all the candles in the room.
"I remember when I transformed, my temperature went up and down more than a yo-yo," Vlad admitted. "It's not pleasant, I know. Let me know if it gets too hot or cold in here and I'll help. Okay?"
She nodded and gave him a faint but grateful smile.
Erin couldn't help but notice how Vlad had intentionally put lots of different colour candles, black, pink, red, blue green and even orange, it made the room seem warm and inviting.
Vlad curled up on another sofa turning on the TV, but having it on a minimum setting running comedy shows silently.
Erin could feel herself falling asleep and eventually dropped off to sleep, forgetting she was in the room with the most deadly vampire ever. She dreamed, and dreamed of the slayers how surprised they would be at her if they knew what was happening at the moment. Then she dreamt of her brother and the events that had led to the moment she fell asleep.
Vlad took longer to fall sleep and watched Erin sleep with fascination, he smiled as he saw her curl up protectively and eventually after watching her for half an hour fell asleep himself.
Vlad was the first to awake, alerted by the sunlight coming through the windows and saw Erin sleeping, this time restlessly from dreaming of her brother.
He immediately shut the blinds, and sped into the kitchen to go and get a drink, when he returned he found Erin sat upright rubbing her eyes and looking rather disorientated.
"Good morning," Vlad said kindly handing over a cup of hot chocolate. "I forgot to give you a hot chocolate last night, so I thought you might like one now."
Erin smiled weakly taking the cup into her hands feeling the warmth of it on her hands, it felt nice in the cold environment. "Thank you." She said gratefully.
Vlad smiled. "No problem." Then a thought occurred to him. "Would you like to stay here?"
"What?" Erin asked after taking a sip of chocolate.
"You probably could use the help," Vlad said knowingly. "I mean you don't have to stay permanently..."
Erin blinked at his kindness. "I would like that... I mean it'll be nice to have someone of my age to relate to."
Vlad grinned. "Well after this we can go to your car and collect your things, then we can put it all in your room."
Erin smiled weakly again. "Thanks."
"Anytime."
Vlad paused when he saw the car, it was old a B reg in fact. He knew enough about cars to know that.
"Old car," Vlad commented.
Erin shrugged. "It's cheaper, especially given I've only just passed my test."
He sighed longingly.
"Don't you drive?" She asked curiously.
"No need to," Vlad admitted as she handed over one of her bags from the backseat, and she grabbed the other. "I can fly anywhere I want to, or shapeshift or speed travel. It makes unlife so much easier."
Erin slammed the door of her car shut. "Unlife?" She repeated slightly amused at the word.
"It's an apt description," he tried to back himself up. "We aren't alive – technically – but we aren't exactly dead either, even though that is how we describe ourselves."
"Alright... so you don't drive at all?"
"I can ride a motorbike," Vlad paused. "Don't tell Dad though. But I can't drive, because Dad would never allow it."
Erin felt a rush of sympathy. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be," he said with a smile. "I'm used to it, and besides." His smile turned teasing. "You can always drive me around... or even better you can give me lessons!"
Erin laughed lightly. Maybe being here wasn't going to be as bad as she thought, it seemed despite the obvious the Dracula's – well Vlad really – were more human than they claimed.
Extending this was seriously difficult. When I first wrote these I thought '800 words should just about do it' but now I have read more – books and fanfictions – I can see it's not great so I have tried to make this more detailed and realistic.
Thank you for reading and please review!
