Young Dracula Season 3: Outtakes
Hello, hello, hello.
Okay, for the first time reader this may seem different to the previous AN's you've read so far. That's because I – about a year or so after writing the original outtake that was here – have decided to rewrite this outtake. For the old-time readings, I'm sure you understand.
This is my first rewrite, but that's because the outtake here was genuinely one for the worst I ever did. I had no idea what to write so it was literally off the top of my head. This time I will make it better.
I don't own Young Dracula.
Nightcap? – based after episode 13 of season 3 but before episode 1 of season 4
Vlad rolled his eyes at his father's comment. It would be just like his father to say 'no fun', he obviously had a bad idea of what fun was.
Mina looked around wearily. "I think it's time we left," she instructed her son and looked at Erin her eyes narrowing slightly. "Are you coming with us?"
"No," Erin shook her head. "I'm sorry, but my place is here now. My brother is here," she gestured lightly to Ryan who scowled at that slightly, feeling slightly resentful of Erin's mortality. "And Vlad is my boyfriend." Jonno and Mina shuddered delicately at that. "They need me, Vlad needs me. I can act as liaison to the slayers."
"But..." Mina protested.
"Okay," Jonno said and smiled faintly at Erin.
"Jonathan!" Mina scolded her son.
Jonno looked at his mother and shrugged. "We will need a liaison, and Erin knows them. They trust her."
"Vlad trusts her, we don't." Ingrid muttered darkly earning her a dark glare from Vlad.
"She betrayed us," Mina said.
"I was just doing what I thought was right," Erin interrupted. "Slayers don't kill defenceless."
"Defenceless," she snorted. "They have fangs!"
"You could say that you have lethal teeth too," Vlad pointed out. "Look, I know you think Erin was being a traitor for what she did. However, what she did, she did for you, and she like me believes that there is a chance we can have peace. That's what you want isn't it?"
The question was aimed at Jonno but there was no response.
"Look Jonno, I know that you never wanted this to be a slayer," Vlad looked at Mina. "And I know you always wanted a normal family. This is your chance to make that happen. In a few centuries, there may be no need for slayers of course vampires will always need to be kept in check. But, things should calm down if we just cooperate."
"Okay, you've convinced me," Jonno agreed crossing his arms and looked at his mum. "Mum please can you go back to HQ and tell them that we are negotiating a ceasefire."
"No I will not Jonathan." She stabbed a finger in Vlad's direction. "Have you forgotten what he did to your father? Eric is dead because of him."
Vlad cringed, Mina didn't notice because she didn't want to but everyone else did.
"He regrets it, and I understand why he did it. Vlad was trying to protect us," Mina was about to interrupt but Jonno spoke first. "It may have not ended out how anyone expected, but if it had worked we would be a normal family. We have to take the chance Mum, it's what Dad wanted. He wasn't slaying out of a sense of vengeance like you. He did it to protect people; it's why he told me the first rule of slaying was to protect your family."
Mina sighed, knowing her son was right. Eric went slaying, not because it was an obsession, but because he was protecting humanity. "Fine, I will do it, but only for you and for your father."
The slayer left the room leaving and awkward silence behind her.
"I'm going to go to my coffin," Ingrid grumbled. "Diplomacy is far from my forte."
She flitted out, leaving the remainders of her half fangs – all but Ryan – looking confused.
"Go and get yourself out and about." Vlad told the half fangs, they all reluctantly – reluctantly because not so long ago they had been ordered to murder Vlad – flitted out. Ryan remained and went over to his sister.
"I am... going to plan our next picnic..." the Count muttered flitting off.
"RENFIELD!" The Count's voice echoed through the school. Renfield sighed and walked off Wolfie not far behind him.
"So," Jonno paused. "How exactly do you plan on enforcing this treaty?"
Vlad frowned, realising despite his habit of planning, he hadn't planned this as well as he thought he had. "I guess we can designate certain buildings as blood banks across the world. Then we can instruct that vampires get blood from there over humans. Then I can put a law through for biting to the High Council."
"Well, I cannot really put through a law saying 'no slaying' but I think I might be able to get our High Council to twist the rules so it says that slaying is only permitted in defence of others or themselves." The young slayer suggested.
"Good idea," Vlad smiled. "I can agree that slayers can slay in self-defence, or the defence of others."
"And vampires should be allowed to attack in defence of themselves and other vampires." Bertrand added.
Jonno frowned. "The council won't like that... but you have a point."
"And we should be allowed to transform breathers," the tutor added.
Vlad frowned at his tutor. "I'm not sure that should be permitted. It's just as bad as draining."
"In some cases vampires fall in love with breathers." Bertrand stated. "If they both mutually agree to it they should be allowed to be vampires."
"I guess I see your point," Jonno admitted. "But I can only agree if we are informed in advance and are assured they both agree to it."
Bertrand nodded.
"I still think it's a bad idea." Vlad murmured. "I don't see the slayers liking that idea."
"They won't," Jonno agreed. "But we can take this one step at a time. If we maintain this we could add that part on in a few months when things calm down."
"If they calm down," Bertrand muttered, earning him confused looks. "Vampires will not cooperate easily."
"Then I will have to make them cooperate. I'm doing what is best for both vampires and breathers. I'm not just thinking of breathers here, Sethius has proved we vampires need to be kept on a leash otherwise we are all dust." Vlad pointed out.
Bertrand nodded coldly in agreement.
"Okay," Jonno said. "I guess we should get to business then. I'll talk to the council, get their approval and I'll call you tomorrow to let you know how it went."
"Right, and I'll contact Ramanga and the rest of the council and order an immediate ceasefire and explain the situation."
That is much better, not quite up to scratch but I may add to it at some point. I just wanted to get up out of the way to get rid of the horrible one. It's not extremely long but it's longer than the old one.
