The seven remaining insurgents managed to escape from the tower of fate. There were too many deaths, and they knew they could no longer stand against the regime without any help from other universes. The ones whom were forced into the jet by Barry had regained their consciousness, when Cassie spoke.
"Going to other universes for help is the only option left for us. That's our only chance to beat that Supermaniac. He needs to PAY for killing my friends", she said while thinking of her teammates who all lost their lives. She was the only survivor of the Titans, and she needed to avenge them, but none of the insurgency were powerful enough to beat Superman, and she knew that well.
"Arthur thought of that too, before he was accused of treason by Superman. I should have known that Superman had become a telepath at that time. If I did, our plans wouldn't have been so reckless", Mera blamed herself for not being able to discover Superman had become a telepath with Brainiac's technology. Even though she objected to the idea of running away to other universes at first, she already knew they had no other choice, and if she had followed Barry's idea, Plastic Man might have lived.
"Then how do we travel to other dimensions, without Fate?", Dinah asked in disbelief. She wasn't told by Batman how he brought the alternate Justice League. Batman sure had kept too many secrets, and Dinah almost felt like she wanted blame Bruce for their failures, until the survivor of Atlantis spoke again.
"Arthur's plan was to use the device developed by Wayne and Luthor to open a portal to other universes. The device is located in an underwater facility, and I know where it is", Mera once again felt guilty for not telling the insurgents of her husband's plan. Anger from the destruction of her home got the better of her as she had too went along with the plan to attack Superman's base. She should had known the plan was too reckless, and she was the only one who knew of an alternative.
"We have to use it, NOW. We lost all of us. We lost friends, family, home, and even part of ourselves. This is our last fight, for our lives, and theirs", Hal uttered, with every ounce of willpower which was still left in him.
"Is that even gonna work? If this doesn't work, it's better to die than one more failed plan", Kara said, as she doubted the success of the plan, as the insurgents had been faced with too many failures and deaths.
"I know it is, because I don't know what we're gonna do if it doesn't", Barry concluded, implying there were already no other option left for them, as the he set the destination to Coast City, where was now one of Superman's naval stations.
Superman smirked at the sight of the resurrected Zombie Soldiers. Thanks to the regime killing many insurgents, he managed to collect their bodies and convert them as well. Hawkgirl's corpse were retrieved by his beta patrol drones, and Raven reassembled the ashes which were formerly Zatanna's body. Now he had Hawkgirl, Poison Ivy, Zatanna, Superboy, Blue Beatle, Starfire, Cheetah, and Constantine as his Zombie Soldiers. It was a shame he couldn't resurrect all of them, as Mary Marvel was a powerless mortal when she was killed, and Firestorm was erased from existence when Superman sent him to Meltdown. But this was already more than enough to deliver even more despair to the insurgency, as he planned to use these drones to attack them. As he pondered the countless ways to destroy the insurgency, Black Oracle entered his throne room, now rebuilt by Raven.
"The insurgent's next move were identified master. They would plan to use the dimensional transporter", Black Oracle, accompanied by Wonder Woman, told his master.
"I should have destroyed that machine when we attacked Atlantis!", Diana spat at the remark of the dark strategist.
"No Diana, I already knew they might use it. However, the device holds too much value to be destroyed. With it in our possession, we can bring peace not just to this universe, but to the entire multiverse. That is why we should never destroy it", Superman persuaded Diana not to destroy the machine. Diana nodded, it was their mission to bring peace, and she knew that well.
"Even so, we should still prevent the insurgents from using it. We lost our grip on this world once because of it", Diana said, as she was concerned about Kara using the device to bring more insurgents to ruin their peace,
"Send in the troops and focus them on Coast City. Seeing their comrades now on my side would tear their spirits apart. Bruce and I will be waiting them on the underwater laboratory", Superman ordered Raven, who began to send Zombie troops to the location.
As the insurgent jet got closer to Coast City, they began to build further strategies to counter the regime. Coast City was now Superman's clone production site. Therefore it held many regime soldiers. They could not afford anymore failures, as Carol warned them.
"Hal and I faced Hawkgirl's converted body when we were away handling the yellow lanterns. I suspect the regime has done the same to the people we lost. If you are to face them, you should remember they are already dead, and the body is nothing but a corpse", She was concerned everyone would lose their focus if their dead friends showed up as Zombie Cyborgs. The insurgents could only nod. The possibility of the dead bodies of their friends and loved ones were heartbreaking enough, but they knew no more failures could be allowed.
"We are throwing this jet away when we land on the Westport, we take one of the submarines and go to the underwater facility. Don't forget, when we take the submarine, we LEAVE", Barry said, to remind the ones who defied his order when they escaped the tower of fate. They got closer to the Westport, as Barry prepared to land, vines entangled the jet to make it crash.
"Jump!", Barry yelled as he opened the hatch and jumped out of the jet, followed by the rest of the insurgency. They all landed on the gigantic vine formed by Zombie Ivy. Ivy unleashed her vines from various directions to surround the insurgents and capture them. Wonder Girl pulled out her sword and faced them, cutting them one by one. Ivy formed a vine drill to attack the insurgents from underground. Hal quickly formed green drill construct to counter it, turning the vine drill into pieces. Kara blasted Ivy to burn the germination point. Ivy tried to block, but there was no way mere plant construct shield could block Kryptonian heat vision, as Ivy was burned down to the ground. As Ivy was dealt with, all of them rushed to the Westport to take the submarine needed to escape. They got to the port, when they saw their dead comrades before them, converted by Superman.
"I'll get the submarine working. Please hold them off!", Barry told them as he ran toward the submarine. His super speed allowed him to get inside of the submarine without getting caught. The rest of the insurgency were forced to fight their dead friends. Zombie Constantine and Zatanna both summoned hellish flames to consume the insurgents, and Mera formed water whirlwind to counter the fire. Wonder Girl and Powergirl blocked the heat vision from Zombie Superboy, while they dodged starblasts from Zombie Starfire. Black Canary unleashed her Canary cry to shield herself and to prevent Cheetah from reaching her and biting her neck. Hal and Carol constructed shield on the submarine to prevent Zombie Blue Beatle's blast from destroying it, while fending off Hawkgirl's attack.
The insurgents all remembered Carol's warning and fought them with their full power. The power between the insurgents and the zombie soldiers were equaled, until Constantine produced astral projects behind all insurgents. The astral projects attacked all insurgents from behind, completely making them lose their stance. The Zombie soldiers rushed towards the insurgents with no mercy, all of them ready to kill, until the Atlantean queen came up with a plan.
"Lantern! Shield everyone and the submarine!", Mera ordered. The Lanterns constructed a thick energy shield around all insurgents and the submarine, as Mera summoned a tidal wave massive enough to wash over Coast City inside the shield. The Tidal Wave washed the Zombie Soldiers as well as the entire Coast City, which actually held nothing but Superman's clone production, naval ports, and Air forces. This bought Barry enough time to get the submarine working.
"Get in NOW!", Barry yelled through the insurgent comm link. The Lanterns removed the shield construct as the insurgents rushed toward the submarine. The Lanterns scouted around the areas to see all zombie soldiers were washed away, and to check all insurgents got into the submarine. The Lanterns entered the submarine last, and closed the entrance. Barry started the engine as the submarine left the port.
Superman was waiting at the underwater facility as he received the footage of his Zombie Soldiers and his clone production site being washed away by the tidal wave. He was furious at the fact that the zombie soldiers could not even destroy any insurgents. However, it didn't matter at all, as he could singlehandedly destroy them all. And when he did, he would get his cousin back at his side, with a headset device same as the one Bruce had. This way, his family and the Trinity would be whole again. He smirked as he heard the sound of the submarine arriving at the entrance of the facility, as he teleported to the entrance.
Superman allowed the insurgents no time to react as he unleashed a wide heat vision toward their stomach. The insurgents knew by instinct that they won't be able to shield themselves from it. The lanterns wielded those who are unable to fly, and they all jumped into the air to avoid getting split in half. Powergirl was enraged at the sight of Wonder Woman, the one who killed those who accepted Kara and gave her a home in cold blood. Kara wanted the wretched Amazon to DIE, and nothing else mattered to her more than ending the Amazon for good. Kara attacked Wonder Woman with all fury as her eyes glowed in red. Wonder Woman constructed multiple energy shields to prevent the attack, but Kara tore through the construct as she flew toward the Amazon. Wonder Woman tried to block the attack by grabbing Kara's legs, but Kara did not allow her to do anything, as she hit the Amazon in the legs with heat vision. Kara started to pummel the Amazon as soon as Wonder Woman fell on the ground, relishing the thought of killing the manipulator herself, as she forgot about the entire battlefield.
Barry and Cassie teamed up to fight Black Oracle. While the Flash wanted to restore Bruce Wayne to his original self, Wonder Girl wanted to kill the fallen vigilante for killing her boyfriend, Superboy. Barry knew he couldn't give Bruce ANY SECONDS to move. If he did, Black Oracle would unleash his contingency plans against them to end their lives. Barry remorsefully pummeled the fallen hero with supersonic punches from multiple directions on multiple body parts, he even used lightning kicks on Bruce's groin, to make the Black Oracle fall unconscious as soon as possible. However, Black Oracle was no longer human, but a walking machine under Superman's control. Even with hundreds of punches and kicks, and with no time to strike back, Black Oracle did not fall on the ground. Still, Barry's punches made Black Oracle wobble, giving Cassie open spot to cut him down. Cassie sprung forward to get behind Black Oracle, as she pulled out her sword and cut off the machine's right arm. Barry disapproved of Cassie's actions, but they had no choice, so he kept punching Bruce, allowing no recovery. Cassie then did the same with Black Oracle's left arm, rendering the machine armless. Black Oracle lost his balance with both of his arms cut off and Barry punching him countless times from multiple directions, allowing Cassie to cut his tendon. Black Oracle finally fell on the ground, as Cassie prepared her sword to cut his head off. However, she was stopped by Barry who whispered in her ears.
"We have more important things to do. We need to get the device working", Cassie heard that and abandoned the fallen vigilante on the ground to get the device working, not realizing that Black Oracle were slowly healing his damaged limbs. Barry and Cassie quickly rushed to the device to get it working. They selected one from countless worlds, the one which held many more heroes than they originally had even before Joker nuked Metropolis. The Earth had both Justice League and the Titans, and more importantly, had unknown teams called Avengers, the XMEN, and the White Lotus. Barry then tried all sets of passwords while using his super speed, but none of it worked. Cassie checked whether the machine were broken by the regime or not, but it didn't seem like the machine were broken. They became horrified. Maybe this was Superman's trap to fool them all, to make them think they still had hope, and deal with them when they came here, they thought. Barry, now desperate, began to disassemble the machine. As he disassembled it, he realized one thing. They needed the power source to get it working, but there were only one, which was himself. Barry began to reassemble the machine before getting inside of the battery, as he pushed the password. He stuck himself inside of the battery as he begun to harness energy from the speed force.
Meanwhile, the rest of the insurgency were doing their best to counter Superman's relentless attacks. Superman unleashed heat vision from above, and Hal had to counter it by constructing a green optic blast. Hal knew they couldn't take on Superman, so he constructed all deceased Green Lanterns, except Mogo, to fight Superman. Superman was caught by the swarm of green construct as he struggled to get out. Superman needed to return the favor, as he constructed hundreds of yellow lantern constructs, including Sinestro, to fight back. The yellow construct lanterns allowed Superman to get out, as he constructed another swarm to consume Hal and Carol, returning the favor. Superman then turned his attention to the ramaining two, as he unleashed a medium amount of heat vision. Mera countered it by unleashing a tidal wave, but this was what Superman wanted. Superman used his freeze breath to freeze the tidal wave and wielded it, and dropped it on Mera, trapping her. Superman then unleashed a massive heat vision on Black Canary, seeing the others were too occupied to save Dinah from him. Dinah tried to push it back by her Canary Cry. However, her Canary Cry wasn't strong enough, and her upper body said goodbye to the lower half, killing her instantly.
Black Oracle's arm grew back as a metallic pair due to the nanotech on his current armor, forged with Brainiac's technology. The first thing he saw were Powergirl pummeling Wonder Woman to death. After he became Superman's slave, he designed all of the contingency plans for the regime, and installing a red sunlight radiator in this underwater laboratory was one of them. He pressed the button to activate the red sunlight radiator. Kara kept pummeling the Amazon, without realizing the change of environment. The moment she realized, she was doing no damage on the Amazon as her super strength wore off. This allowed Diana to recover as she kicked Kara in the stomach, sending her away. Diana saw Mera under the ice wall as she smirked. Mera's legs were fully broken by the weight of the ice wall, and her arms were trapped as well, disabling her movement completely. Diana smirked at the Atlantean beneath her feet, as she said.
"You and your husband were both fools to think you could resist us. You should have remembered your place under the regime. If you did, all of Atlantis, your husband as well, would had been still alive. Now, I'll let you join them", Mera tried to summon water tornado to wash Diana away, but with her hands damaged, she could summon nothing but a stream, which off course didn't affect the Amazon at all, as she decapitated the last Atlantean, before raising her head as a trophy. She then turned her attention to the two lanterns who managed to deal with the yellow construct swarm. Hal felt the strike, but both Carol and him were still too exhausted from constructing too many construct at a single time. Hal summoned every strength he had to protect Carol for the last time, as he took Diana's sword to his chest, before pushing her away. However, he didn't know Carol too, was fatally wounded by the yellow lantern swarm which almost consumed them, as blood were pouring from her stomach. Kara recovered from the kick on the stomach, as she saw two more dead bodies, and two almost dead insurgents. Kara angrily roared as she run toward Diana and Kal, but she was no match for them in her powerless state, as they strangled her in yellow chains.
"We can still be family Kara. I made the perfect world where no innocent people has to get hurt and no more cities has to be destroyed by madmen like Joker and Brainiac, for you. In this way, we can live in peace with no one to disturb us. I'm doing this for you", Kal said softly, to convince her to come to his side. However, Kara was already done with him. He was no longer her family. He was her enemy she sought to destroy, as she shouted at them.
"Family?! You took everything from me! people who accepted me despite everything you've done to them, and to the world! and YOU took them all away, like the Joker took Lois away from YOU! You don't deserve to blame the Joker now that you've done the same thing to me! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU ALL and I WANT YOU ALL DEAD!", Superman was disappointed by the answer. Superman had to bring his cousin back to his side, by whatever means necessary. Superman pulled out the headset which gave birth to the Black Oracle to place it on his cousin, but before he could do so, a powerful force sucked his powerless cousin away from him.
Barry was content as the device started working. He finally felt he was back as a hero, as he controlled the device to suck everyone who was still alive. Hal realized Barry was not there as he was being pulled into the portal opened by the machine.
"Barry! What are you doing?!", Hal dreaded the worst scenario that Superman had taken Barry. But Barry replied to him from within the machine.
"The device needed a power source, and I had to be one. Now I finally can make up for everything I've done. Goodbye Hal. I hope you have a good life", Barry replied calmly, as Hal shouted back while he was sucked inside.
"Nooo! This isn't fair! I've done more horrible deeds! I should've been the power so..", Hal was cut when he was completely sucked into the portal with Carol who was holding onto him, whose life were already fading. The four insurgents were sent to different course as they were sent to their new reality.
Superman watched as the insurgents managed to run away from him for the last time. He tore the device open, to find nothing there.
"So Barry became one with the speed force to get it moving. He was quite smart, despite being only the fastest man alive", Superman laughed at the pathetic sacrifice of the scarlet speedster. Hal and Carol were already going to die judging from the amount of deadly wounds they had, and none of the insurgents were to take the machine and use it, which meant the regime could finally enforce peace on the multiverse.
"Which dimension shall we start with, master?", Black Oracle asked Superman, only to have Superman reply to him.
"Off course the one Hal and Carol went to. They will die, but we need to be careful if someone would succeed them and pose a threat to us. Then we find Kara, and truly bring her back to me", the tyrant of steel smirked.
Kara finally awoke as her trip to the new reality had ended. She missed everyone. Her cousin and his concubine had taken everything from her. They were going to PAY. She thought as she opened her eyes, only to see hell spreading in front of her, until she was approached by a bald demonic man with completely white skins. The demonic man walked toward her, as he introduced himself.
"I am Quan Chi. I am in charge of this realm, the Netherrealm, until my master's return. You seem lost, what do you seek?", Kara knew nothing of this 'Netherrealm', and 'his master', but she was certain about what she desired.
"I seek REVENGE, Revenge against Kal-El and Diana of Themyscira. For DECEIVING ME and the WORLD", Kara spat angrily.
"Very well. I shall grant you the opportunity to eliminate the so-called Superman and Wonder Woman. They are likely to be the ones to lead the schemes against my lord, Shinnok, who were exiled from his birthright, just like you. You will help me bring him back to power and conquer all realms, is that clear?", Quan Chi said while looking into Kara's tragic memory, finding her easy to manipulate.
"I will. This universe is not MY WORLD. MY WORLD was already lost, and I don't care if this world will be conquered. The World was already lost when my cousin took it away from me", Kara replied sadly.
"You have suffered so much my child. But no more. When lord Shinnok returns, I will restore everyone you lost back to life. We start by aiding Shao Kahn against Earthrealm, is that clear, Powergirl?", Quan Chi told Kara his true purpose to wage war on Earth. He could reveal his secrets to her as Kara had no love for this universe.
"Yes, Quan Chi. I will follow your orders and help you bring your master back", Kara replied in joy of having the chance to restore everything she had lost. She was content even if it meant the destruction of the so-called Earthrealm.
"Very well, now arise .. Galatea", Quan Chi said as he restored Kara's powers, who nodded at the sorcerer.
