Ch.53: Cupid's Arrow

The day we returned to school saw a rare sight. Usually, Pinkie and I walked into school together. As she and Pip wanted to have some private time before academics took precedence, I found myself walking in with Adagio.

As we walked towards my locker, Adagio smiled. "Sonata has it bad for Juniper. I found kiss marks on her pillow this morning" she grinned, shaking her head.

"I'm glad she's happy" I smiled widely. "How's Finn?"

"He's good" Adagio said, as we turned the corner to our hallway.

"He said he's getting a haircut after school today. A buzz cut I think."

I went to respond, only to stop as I peered into the distance at my locker. Taped to it was a note. I wordlessly walked over to it as Adagio followed.

"Got a honeymoon to go to?" she joked. Sunset walked by her face confused.

"What's going on?" she asked. She saw the note, rolling her eyes as I insisted on getting my daily stuff from my locker.

After I finished, I opened the note. The writing was immensely beautiful and written with purple ink. It said:

To my Valentine,

You and I have been friends for a while now. I have grown to love the person you are. You have not let your bad circumstances define and control you. As the adage goes, you have instead said "Okay, time to move forward!"

I really like you, David. On Valentine's Day, I wish to make it official. For now, feel free to speculate! There is a lot of options that could pine for you. Perhaps they are closer than you think.

Sincerely,

Your Secret Admirer.

To the confusion of Sunset and Adagio, I began to laugh.

"Hah! Funny prank, funny prank" I smirked. Sunset crossed her arms, unamused. "Why do you think it's' a prank?"

"I mean come on!" I responded. "A note taped to a locker! They saying it could be anyone? Wanting to reveal themselves on Singles Awareness Day?"

Sunset was not laughing. My laughing subsided as I saw the serious look on her face.

"You can think it's a prank all you want" she said. "Trust me, go ahead and believe that. But there is someone who wrote that. They are serious in their feelings."

"Aria probably wrote it" I insisted. "I know she still likes me."

Adagio shook her head. "Nope. She would be far blunter if she wanted to be back with you. Anyways, five minutes to the bell. We'll talk more at lunch."

"See you David" Sunset smiled, the two leaving me alone. I turned and walked up the steps to Home Economics. There was no way this was real. I was being taken like a fool.

Still, you really did never know. And so, I began asking questions.

Tomorrow, my children, we will talk about my first question.
