Ch.54: Question!
What made this all interesting was the simple fact that the semester was coming to an end. We were in the last two weeks of our current classes. I was keeping on Civics and Gym from before, and adding in Women's Studies, Drama, and Art. Sunset had protested the schedule at first. She thought I needed more academic courses. However, I had a few I wanted to wait on until Senior year dawned.
As I pondered this heading to Civics that day, my thought turned to the new developments of the morning. Namely, the note. Just who had written the thing? Entering the familiar class, I found my seat and used the few minutes to spare to write a list of potential writers. My list turned out like this:
-Aria
-Twilight
-Discord (I knew from Sunset that he knew about me. Who's to say he could not prank me?)
-Rainbow Dash
-Lyra Heartstrings
-Berry Punch (I heard from Applejack that she found me cute)
Shaking my head, I put the list into my civics folder. I looked up to see Trixie sitting next to me with a flourish. However, before a word could be spoken, Experienced Leader began his lecture, this time on the Judiciary Branch.
Trixie groaned. While she had to admit that the teacher was quite a good storyteller, she had information for me. Thankfully, this class flew by.
As I went to leave, she grabbed my hand, non-verbally telling me to wait for her. She let go of my hand and gathered her things. I blinked in confusion. Was it possible that the popular senior had feelings for me?
Trixie straightened up and gestured me to follow her out the door. We did not notice Experienced Leader's smirk.
"Ah, the seeds of romance that blossom in the savannah." He said to himself, preparing for his break hour.
Trixie stopped as she ducked into a secluded section of the hallway. She clapped her hands in excitement.
"Oh, David! Trixie has information that she simply must share with you! On the day that the note was posted on your locker, Trixie saw Twilight Sparkle pass by the school!"
I raised my eyebrows.
"That does not mean anything. She could have been heading to Applejack's" I explained.
Trixie crossed her arms.
"Trixie wants you to think! Who could have possibly written you the note? Trixie thinks it was Twilight!"
"It could have been you" I mentioned. Trixie's insistent grin turned to a blush. She made an excuse about needing to powder her nose and left quickly.
Satisfied, I made my way to lunch. From behind a corner, Aria watched. She sighed to herself, looking down.
"I made a mistake" she said quietly.
The conversation had subsided at the table. This, of course, was in favor of filling our bellies. I looked at Twilight, deep in thought. Catching my eyes, she giggled.
"Something in mind?"
I nodded. "Yes. I'm sure you all know about the note I found this morning, right?"
Everyone nodded.
"Well, Trixie had me follow her after Civics a few moments ago. She said she saw you by the school, Twilight. The day it was posted."
"How do you know, Darling?" Rarity asked. "Trixie may have said that as a diversion."
"Better yet" Sunset said after eating a bite of her salad, "How do we know what day someone posted it anyway?"
This made me pause. I soon shrugged, eating a bite of my own salad.
"We don't. I was just saying what Trixie told me. I kinda still think it's a prank anyway."
"It is NOT a prank" Sunset said firmly.
"It could be" I insisted. "Besides...I don't even know if I'm ready to be with someone again. I really liked being with Aria."
Rainbow Dash sighed.
"Buddy, you agreed with it. Her breaking up with you."
"That may be true" I said tensely, "But how do I know you didn't write it? Things went well a few weeks ago. One strike from Cupid is all it takes."
Fluttershy then joined the conversation.
"M-maybe it was someone none of us are thinking about? Like Wildflower? Or Cloudkicker?"
"Perhaps" Applejack agreed. "Adding onto what Rainbow said though- it wasn't meant to be. Yah need to let it go for your health. I don't wanna see my friend drop again like you did that day in Gym."
"It's easy to say that" I said. "I-I fell in love with her. If it was a prank, it was cruel. Pure and simple. Anyways, back to eating. Something's off. I'm sorry if I got snappy guys."
Remember how I had said Pinkie had a bad feeling before when she saw me shaking? That feeling returned to her that day. After lunch that day, she made the decision to ask Fluttershy to keep an eye on me in our new semester. We had everything together.
And she was not going to watch her brother fade away.
The next day, after school, the eight of us gathered at the café.
Analysis Anarchy indeed.
