Chapter Two
The teens got ready to start the next viewing. They noted that Robyn still hasn't shown up but figured that she would show up again soon. As the projector played the next scene they all got ready to watch.
~
As Peter's alarm went off to wake him up for school, causing him to groan in anger and annoyance, he just decided to wear his normal clothes over his Spider suit. You know, in case he needed to do some Spider-Manning after school. He had a quick breakfast as he grabbed his backpack to catch the bus.
~
'Just another day in the life of Peter Parker.' Peter mentally sighed as he saw the scene unfold.
~
"Bye, May! See you later!" Peter called as he got ready to go.
"Bye, Peter! Have a nice day!" May shouted as she waved him off as he left to catch the bus.
Once getting on the bus, Peter immediately went to the back of the bus and sat by the window. He then took out a red notebook with a web pattern on it and started flipping through the pages, looking through different various suit designs, a few web gadgets as he flipped to the page that has his web fluid formula on and looks to see if there's any way he can make any improvements upon it during chemistry.
~
"So that's you're web fluid formula." Amadeus stated, he started to record the scene but a glob of webbing covered his lenses.
"Hey!" He shouted as he tried to get the webs off.
"Nah, nah." Spider-Man waved a finger. "I already let you take my suit, not letting you copy my formula to."
"What about me Spidey?" Agent Venom asked.
"Symbiote webs don't count." The web head waved off.
~
"Uh...excuse me?" A female voice called, and Peter quickly closed the book so she wouldn't see what he was working on.
Peter then looked up to where the voice came from, and it was a girl that was about his height and had long pitch black hair that covered most of the left side of her face and wore a dark blue hoodie and was wearing dark gray jeans.
~
"She's cute." Nova stated. The other boys agreed with his statement.
The girls rolled their eyes at that. Boys.
~
"Yes?" Peter asked casually as she shifted awkwardly and had this look that made Peter guess she didn't like to talk much.
"Is this seat taken?" She asked softly as Peter gave a simple nod to let her know that she could sit there if she wanted to.
As she took a seat, Peter went back to flipping through his stuff, trying to keep the contents of his notebook hidden from the girl.
~
"Why not just put it away instead of flipping through the pages?" Squirrel Girl asked. Everyone was a bit surprised by that suggestion. They all then turned to Spider-Man who just face palmed.
'Ugh, why didn't I think of that?' Peter thought as he recalled the times he did something similar.
~
"Are you new here?" The girl asked him.
"No...I've been going here for about a month. My name's Peter, Peter Parker." Peter replied.
"Parker? Do you live with that lady a few houses down?" The girl asked and gestured behind them.
"Yeah, she's my aunt." Peter responded with a smile.
"Oh, I'm Violet." The girl introduced herself, but Peter accidently let out a slight chuckle at the name.
~
Peter in the audience did the same and chuckled.
~
"What's so funny?" She asked in a slightly offended tone.
~
"Yeah, what's so funny?" Squirrel Girl asked with a slight frown. Not keen of the idea of her friend making fun of the girl. The others were on the same boat, though those that knew him longer had a feeling that wasn't the case.
Spider-Man simply put his hands up. "Calm down, I'm not trying to be mean or anything. Though I guess my other would explain soon." Spider-Man said.
~
"Your name. It uh...seems to correlate with your personality." Peter explained to her with a wide smile.
"How so?" Violet asked in confusion.
"You seem to want to make yourself invisible. Based on how you joined me in the back of the bus, as how you hide your face with your hair like that. The name Violet makes me think of Ultraviolet Light." Peter explained, leaving Violet with this sort of dumbfounded look on her face.
~
"See." Spider-Man said smugly as he looked at same dumbfounded look on his friends.
"Try not to get a bighead Webhead." White Tiger rolled her eyes.
~
"That's interesting...I guess." Violet awkwardly said in response to the breakdown.
"Don't take me seriously, I might be looking too far into it." Peter chuckled and began looking embarrassed. "I'm just a nerd. I got it from my parents."
"What happened to them?" Violet asks him.
"They died in a plane crash when I was three. I lived with my Uncle in New Urbem until recently." Peter informed her. "He was shot by a mugger."
~
Spider-Man flinched at the memory, unconsciouslly clenching his fists. He also tried his hardest to not feel depressed.
The others noticed and gave him looks of concern.
~
"I'm sorry." Violet apologized.
"Thanks, but I've moved past it...mostly..." Peter sighed as he looked at his notebook which had a photo of him and his uncle attached to a paperclip on it.
The rest of the ride, they sat in silence as the bus stopped at school and they all got off to head into their classes.
And as it turns out, Violet and Peter actually appear to have a few classes together as it seems he had to ramp up his sneakiness developing his web fluid during classes.
Especially in chemistry, since Peter has to keep things literally under the table while trying to make a new batch of web fluid; since not only the teacher walking around to see if everyone is on task, but he began to notice Violet giving occasional glances, trying to figure out what he's doing with a random beaker and the set of chemicals he's using for the webbing in a drawer that she luckily didn't notice.
~
"Great." Peter muttered. He could already tell his other's identity is gotta get revealed soon. It would seem that Parker Luck was universal.
"Slick there Parker." Nova snickers to himself.
"Shut up Bucket head." Spider-Man replied.
~
That's just one example of what he's been trying to do with Violet sort of suddenly becoming an obstacle.
Despite all of that though, he was able to design a belt to go along with his suit in design class that is lined with multiple cartridges for his web fluid in the event that he runs out halfway through a fight like he did the other night.
Despite what might be seen, he does enjoy getting some sleep at night.
This trend carried on for the rest of the week, as Peter had to learn how to hide what he was doing from school personnel, and now the quiet girl who was just as invisible as he was.
Then Friday finally came around, meaning that the Parr family would be coming over to his and May's for dinner. But apparently nobody told the criminals in the city as he got a report on a shootout happening downtown.
~
Everyone said nothing as they got ready to see Spider-Man go out on patrol.
~
Once he made it down there, he ended up in the middle of a car chase as the goons were trying to shake the cops.
"It's because of people like you that I've had to sit through those repetitive drivers Ed videos." Peter informed them inside the car when his senses went off.
Looking around, he noticed that there were people about to cross the streets and a group of skateboarders.
Q
"Wait a minute!" Peter finally got an idea and used his strength to punch through the ceiling and grabbed onto the wheel, scaring the driver. "This car belongs in the HOV lane! For Hoodlum Operated Vehicles!"
He then drove their car into the skateboard ring and caused the car to go flying, but he had just enough time to land and catch the vehicle.
"I can't believe that actually worked!" Peter said in shock. "All right, guys, hand it over." He demanded the goons who pushed put a suitcase full of money. "I love it when they actually comply."
~
"Don't I always." Sigh Spider-Man.
"Whatever, dad." Nova rolled his eyes. Earning snickers from some of heroes and amused smiles from the rest.
Spider-Man shook his head at their antics.
~
Peter then placed the car down just as his senses went off and he saw the police arrive.
"Oh, right. Superhero laws." Peter almost completely forgot about that and quickly ran off just as the police started shouting and shooting at him. "Come on, isn't this a little over the top!?"
~
"Ah, nostalgia." Peter said in faux joy. He remembers when he started out, when the cops openly shot at him. He still has some scars he got from a stray bullet or two.
His comments made everyone look at him strangely. Was it real that bad for him before joining SHIELD? They never had to deal with the police actively shooting at them, so they don't know what's that's like.
Ava, meanwhile, frowned, she needed to double check SHIELD's files on him. More specifically for when he started out. She wanted to make sure that it wasn't that bad.
~
The police watched as he escaped just as the Captain marched over towards his men and he was sorta a hater on superheroes.
"So, thirteen of Metroville's finest against one guy in a sweatshirt. Have I got that right?" Captain George Stacy asks them.
~
Everyone chuckled at what Captain Stacy said.
~
Peter got home from patrol a half hour before the Parr's were supposed to show up and immediately stowed away his suit, followed by him folding his sleeves over his wrist to hide the web shooters, which were now designed to hide as bracelets.
Looking around his room, seeing what a mess it is, Peter decided it might be best to clean up a bit and began to pick up his clothes, only for him to stand up and slam his head against the shelf and cause a frame to fall and smash.
Peter quickly picked it up and saw it was from his "shrine" as May called it on everything that Ben ever collected about superheroes that he collected that he kept in perfect condition over the years.
Looking down at his young uncle, shaking hands with Mr. Incredible, Peter couldn't help but cry a little as a small tear fell down his face and onto the now broken frame.
"I hope I'm making you proud, Ben." Peter whispered to the frame and placed it back up and made a mental note to buy a new one for it sooner or later as his uncle's voice echoed in his mind.
"...with great power...comes great responsibility..."
~
'I know Uncle Ben, I know.' Peter mentally sighed. Though it was nice to hear his uncle's voice again.
~
Just as he snapped out of his trance and got everything cleaned up, the doorbell rang through the home as May opened the door to see the Parr family had arrived.
"Bob! Helen! Come on in. Peter! The Parr's are here!" May called out for Peter as he came down the stairs quickly to greet them.
Once he made it downstairs, he saw a woman with short brown hair who was wearing a white shirt and black pants, and a man that was really tall and seemingly was once muscular wearing a button up shirt and jeans.
"You must be Peter. It's nice to finally meet you. Your aunt talks about you a lot. I'm Helen Parr and this is my husband, Bob." Helen introduced herself as Peter went up and shook her hand and then looked to the baby who was cooing at Peter and babbling at the boy. "And this is Jack-Jack."
~
"Awww!" All of the girls cooed loudly, making the boys cover their ears in response. Man, were they loud.
"He's so cute!" Squirrel Girl squealed out. Monkey Joe and Tippy Toe nodded in agreement.
"I know right? I just want to pinch his little cheeks!" Dagger exclaimed.
"He's the most precious thing I have ever seen!" White Tiger said.
While the girls were gushing over how cute Jack-Jack was, the boy simply rolled their eyes at this. They will never understand girls and their fascination with cute things.
~
"Hey there, Jack-Jack." Peter greets the baby who just smiled and laughed back as a response and took Peter's hand into his. Well, Jack-Jack took his finger at least while Peter smiled at him. "It's nice to meet you, too." He tells the parents and shook their hands.
"Firm grip you have there, Peter." Helen complimented and Peter guessed he's getting a little too nervous and his powers are accidentally slipping out.
~
Peter mentally cursed himself, while it wasn't him that made that slip up, it was still a version of him. So there should be a bit of accountability.
His original teammates shook their heads at this. They all knew that Peter would unintentionally let his secret slip up every once in a while. Sure, he was getting a bit better, but there were too many close calls to their liking.
~
"Thank you, ma'am." Peter thanked and shook Bob's hand and had to mentally prepare himself afterwards because Bob had quite a strong grip, even stronger than his own.
"Yeah. Quite the grip, kid." Bob also complimented as he gave Peter a bit of a suspicious look.
"Uh...thank you, sir." Peter said as he released his hand, hoping they wouldn't begin to suspect him.
It was then that a young boy walked in, he had to be somewhere around 10-12 years old, as he still had freckles on his face and his blond hair looked like it was either combed back with a lot of hair gel or he just stood out of a wind tunnel.
"Hey, I hear you're new to the neighborhood. I'm Dash, the coolest guy on the block." Dash said with a smirky smile and his hands raised in a muscle flexing position as Peter raised an eyebrow in amusement.
~
Everyone let out a chuckle at this. It was a bit adorable really.
"A bit confident isn't he?" Chuckled Trident.
"Indeed." Kazar replied.
~
"All right, if you say so, kid." Peter said, laughing at the kid a little while rolling his eyes.
"I see you met my little brother." Peter hears an all too familiar voice and looks up and is surprised to see the familiar face of Violet standing in the doorway.
Parker Luck, strike three!
~
Everyone heard a loud smack and turned to see Peter with his face in his palm.
"Great. Just great." Peter muttered. Things just more difficult for his alternate self. He just hopes that it wouldn't get any worse. Though knowing his luck, thing will get worse.
To Be Continued.
