Now that the team is together, can they work together or will they fall apart?
Mount Justice:
It had been a few days since the new hero team had been assembled and everyone was doing their own thing. In the vehicle bay, Kevin was doing some adjustments to his car when he heard footsteps. He looked up from under the hood to see that it was Superboy, he was checking out Kevin's car.
"You like it?" Kevin asked as he grabbed a rag and started to clean the oil off his hands. Superboy nodded as he moved his attention to the engine. "Built this girl by myself. It's best you don't ask where I got most of the gear though." Kevin advised and Superboy nodded.
"I was wondering if you could teach me. While the Genomorphs at CADMUS taught me things, I would like to learn myself." Superboy asked and Kevin nodded then he started to teach Superboy how to work on a car.
Behind them in the hallway, Gwen was watching and was impressed that Kevin was helping Superboy. Gwen was then joined by Aqualad, who was wearing his civilian clothes.
"I see that Kevin and Superboy are getting along," Aqualad brought up and Gwen nodded. "If we are going to work together, it would only be right to tell you my name. Name's Kaldur'ahm." Kaldur introduced himself as he smiled and held out his hand.
"Pleasure to meet you, Kaldur'ahm." Gwen smiled as she shook his hand. "Where's the others?" Gwen asked as the pair left Kevin and Superboy to work on the car.
"Kid Flash is in his room playing video games, Robin's training in his room…" Kaldur and Gwen stopped when they saw M'gann in the kitchen with Ben; they were cleaning up. "And it looks like Ben and Miss Martian are working together in the kitchen." Kaldur pointed out then he noticed that Gwen was looking at her cousin.
"Before we started the investigation at CADMUS, Ben had just broken up with his girlfriend." Gwen told him as they headed away from the kitchen. "Ben was spending more time being a hero and less being a boyfriend so she called it off. Ben then told us a lie about them needing space, but we found out the truth from our Grandpa." Gwen explained then she looked in the direction of the kitchen.
"I'm sure being here with friends, he'll be okay." Kaldur told her and Gwen nodded. They looked up to see Ben walking towards them.
"If you're interested, M'gann made cookies." Ben told them then the trio walked into the kitchen, in time for M'gann to take out a tray with burnt cookies on them. "I guess we might've forgotten to check the time." Ben suggested as he gave an awkward smile. The trio walked over to the table as M'gann placed the tray on the table.
"I was trying out Granny Jones' recipe from episode 17 of…" M'gann then paused as she looked up at the trio, who were then joined by Kevin and Superboy. The pair were about to speak when they saw Ben pick up one of M'gann's cookie and started to eat it.
"What? Beats Grandpa's creature foods, remember Gwen?" Ben asked as he took another bite from the cookie.
"Like that snail soup we offered us when we were 10?" Gwen asked, then she placed her hands over her stomach. "That made me go off from trying anything new." Gwen added which made the cousins laugh.
"As we're off duty, we should go by our names." Kaldur told the heroes. "I'm Kaldur'ahm, but my friends call me Kaldur. Kid Flash's name is Wally but no one know's Robin's name." Kaldur explained as they looked at Superboy.
"I'm sure we can think of a name for you, Superboy." Kevin smiled and Superboy nodded. "Excuse us, we got a project to work on: my car. We came by to grab a soda." Kevin told them as he went into the fridge and took out two sodas. The pair left the kitchen then Gwen and Kaldur nodded at each other.
"Gwen and I are going to practice our teamwork skills, would you like to join us?" Kaldur asked but M'gann shook her head as she was going back to cleaning her mess. While Ben decided to stay and help.
"Maybe another time." Ben told them then Kaldur and Gwen left, leaving Ben and M'gann alone. "So M'gann, what other abilities do you have? I'm curious." Ben asked which got M'gann's attention.
"I can shapeshift my body, just like Uncle J'onn and all Martians. I can also communicate telepathically but I wasn't sure if I should tell the others." M'gann told Ben who looked at her with a smile.
"Great skills. But with your telepathically, be careful for now. Superboy doesn't like it much due to his experience at CADMUS." Ben advised and M'gann nodded.
"Would you like to see my ship?" M'gann offered and Ben nodded. M'gann floated towards the hanger bay while Ben ran close behind, leaving behind his green jacket.
Hanger bay:
The doors opened as M'gann and Ben arrived; they looked up to see a red and black pod on the floor. Ben looked at the pod as M'gann landed next to him.
"My Martian bioship. It's currently resting, I'll wake it up." M'gann told him as she held out her right hand, the pod started to morph into its ship mode.
"Wow! That's impressive!" Ben exclaimed as he started to look around while M'gann watched. "Okay, it's only fair I show you what I can do." Ben smiled as he lifted up his left arm and used his right hand to activate the Omnitrix. "This is the Omnitrix; it allows me to transform into many different aliens. Allow me to show you one." Ben smiled as M'gann watched Ben rotate the dial then he smacked down on the core. M'gann was blinded by a green light until it faded away and she was amazed!
"Big Chill!" Big Chill explained as he held his arms out while he was wearing his cloak. "This is one of my many aliens. If you like, I could take you out for a flight?" Big Chill offered as his cloak opened up to reveal his wings.
"I would like that." M'gann smiled as she walked over then was picked up by Big Chill, who was carrying her bridal style.
"Hold on and enjoy your flight." Big Chill told M'gann as he flew up then phrased through the wall, the pair had flown outside of the cave and were now flying around Happy Harbour.
Meanwhile:
Kevin and Superboy had just finished working on the car as Kevin closed the hood and Superboy had a drink from his soda. Kevin cleaned his hands then he started to have a drink as he stood beside Superboy.
"How does it feel? To be learning with your hands?" Kevin asked with a smile as Superboy put his drink on the table.
"It feels… different. Does it usually make you feel… calm?" Superboy asked and Kevin smiled.
"It does for me." Kevin answered when they were joined by Gwen, Kaldur, Wally and Robin. "What's the emergency?" Kevin asked as the team were together.
"There's been an alert at the power plant. Red Tornado wants us to investigate, covertly." Kaldur explained, then Kevin nodded. They all got in the car, except Wally.
"Sorry speedy. Too slow and besides, you got speed; get running." Kevin told Wally as he got in the car then they raced off while Wally ran off towards the power plant.
Power plant:
The team arrived at the power plant and were about to start looking around when they felt a strong wind coming towards them.
"I think I see the cause." Superboy told them as he pointed to their right, a tornado was heading towards them. They were about to react when a cold breeze shot past, freezing the tornado.
"Chill down, guys." The team looked behind them to see Big Chill carrying M'gann. "I went out for a bit to stretch my wings and this happens. And here I wonder what you would do without me?" Big Chill asked as he landed and his wings wrapped around, becoming his cloak.
"We need a plan!" Gwen shouted then they realised that Robin was gone. "And a bell collar for our bird!" Gwen told them then she looked at the team. "Kevin and Wally, with me to get people to safety. Ben, you go with M'gann, Kaldur and Superboy inside and see what's causing this." Gwen told them then the team split up into two and started doing their jobs.
Inside:
"My apologies for the rough time." The red and black figure shouted as he threw Robin into a pillar. "Call me Mister Twister!" Mister Twister was about to strike away when Big Chill flew in and shot a cold breeze from his mouth, creating an ice shield.
"Next time, bird boy; tell us when you disappear!" Big Chill shouted as he looked up, only to be blasted by Mister Twister. Superboy, M'gann and Kaldur arrived in time to help as M'gann checked on Big Chill. "I'm fine. Just had the chills knocked out of me." Big Chill told her as they watched Superboy got blown away and Kaldur to be blasted into a pillar.
"I'll check on them!" M'gann shouted and Big Chill nodded. M'gann was about to check on Superboy when Mister Twister fired a tornado at her, knocking her down. Big Chill started to growl when he hit the Omnitrix, changing into another alien.
"Let me tell you something Mister Twister, Rath hates people who knocks his friends around with air!" Rath roared as he started to run towards Mister Twister, rapidly dodging all his wind attacks. "Rath is going to show how he fights: rough and tough!" Rath roared as he jumped and pulled down a huge metal pipe, causing smoke to blast down onto Mister Twister.
"ENOUGH!" Mister Twister shouted as he made a huge tornado appear and trapped the heroes inside. Rath jumped up to attack but was quickly shot down by lightning. After seeing the heroes knocked out, Mister Twister flew away just as Rath reverted back to Ben.
Later:
After the others were awake, M'gann was sitting on the grass when Ben walked over and sat next to her. The pair looked at the sky and were thinking about Mister Twister.
"I didn't say anything at first but I tried to read Twister's mind," M'gann told Ben using her telepathy. "It was blank, like if I tried to read Red Tornado's." M'gann explained which got Ben puzzled then he had an idea.
"Give me a few, I might have something." Ben told her then he got up and ran over to Kevin and Gwen. M'gann watched as Ben spoke to his friends then they ran over to the others while Ben walked back over to her.
"I got an idea but we need one more thing for it to work." Ben told her which got M'gann puzzled. "Do you trust me?" Ben asked and M'gann nodded as Ben hit the Omnitrix, he was covered in a green light until it faded away, revealing that Ben was now Chromastone.
"Hold on tight." Chromastone told her then he jumped and flew towards Mount Justice while the others headed down to the town to help people and stop Mister Twister.
Town:
The heroes were trying to stop Mister Twister but they were struggling; Twister kept using his tornados to catch whatever they threw and tossed it back twice as strong.
"TWISTER!" Everyone stopped when they looked up to see Red Tornado flying in. He landed in front of the team then pushed them back. "I'll handle this as you can not." He told them then he threw a tornado at Twister, who threw one back; causing the two to corride. "We are evenly matched, Twister." Red Tornado told him which seemed to anger Mister Twister.
"No Tornado, We are not!" Mister Twister shouted as he punched the ground, causing a water main to burst, then he fired several blue energy beams until one hit Red Tornado. "Remain still, android. This will only take a moment." Twister told Red Tornado as several cables came out his fingers and were about to attach to Red Tornado's head when Red Tornado grabbed as his face changed into M'gann's face.
"It might take longer than you think." M'gann smiled as Chromastone flew in and punched Twister hard in the face, sending him flying into a lamp post. "Nice plan." M'gann complimented as Chromastone helped her up.
"It was teamwork, we all played our roles perfectly." Chromastone complimented as the team stood together. "Now, let's twist this guy up real good." Chromastone suggested as Gwen used her magic to grab Twister and hold him tight; allowing the others to hit him one at a time. Robin jumped in and threw a few explosives, Wally kicked him a few dozen times, Kevin and Superboy punched him hard and Kaldur threw half of a boat at him.
"Finish it." M'gann suggested as she looked and nodded at Chromastone. He nodded then fired two powerful rainbow beams, blasting off Twister's arms.
"Give me a boost up high!" Chromastone shouted as he was running towards Twister. M'gann's eyes glowed green as she used her powers to throw Chromastone high. A flash of green emitted from high in the sky.
"Twister, meet Cannonbolt!" Cannonbolt shouted in his ball mode as he hit Mister Twister hard into the ground. Mister Twister was slowly getting back up as M'gann helped Cannonbolt land on the ground carefully as he opened up and was now standing. "Now, let's see what makes you tick." Cannonbolt suggested as he walked over but before he could do anything, the chest plate opened up and out fell a man.
"What the…?" Wally was surprised just like the others. M'gann used her powers to pick up a rock then crush the man which shocked everyone, even Cannonbolt as he reverted back to Ben.
"What did you do?" Ben shouted as he ran over to M'gann but then everyone watched her move the rock, revealing that the man was now broken robot parts.
"I wondered why I couldn't read the Twister's mind; it turns out both him and the pilot was robots." M'gann explained as Kevin walked and started looking over the parts.
"We'll take these back to the Mountain; I can over these and see who made them. Maybe even find out what kind of tech they were using." Kevin explained as Gwen used her magic to pick up all the robot parts then they headed back to the Mountain.
Mount Justice:
While Kevin and Superboy were by the car looking over the robot parts, Ben and Gwen were in the main room as the other heroes were in their rooms. Ben and Gwen were training at Ben's request; he wanted to know how to fight better as a human in case the Omnitrix wasn't working. They were fighting well when they were joined by Kevin, who was cleaning his hands with an oily rag.
"Tennysons, check this out." Kevin told them as he took out his Plumbers Badge and placed it on the floor, it then projected a hologram of Max Tennyson.
"Grandpa Max, what a surprise!" Ben exclaimed as he and Gwen smiled while Kevin folded his arms with a smirk.
"It's nice to see you two again. You too, Kevin." Max smiled as Kevin waved. "I've got news about you being heroes there and your status as Plumbers. I had a long chat with Superman and we decided you'll still be Plumbers but you'll be staying with the team." Max explained to them and the trio understood then Max and the others noticed Ben looking at the Omnitrix. "What's the matter, Ben?" Max asked his grandson then Ben looked up.
"It's about the Omnitrix, Grandpa. You remember the DNA scanner; allowing the Omnitrix to scan aliens so I can turn into one?" Ben asked and Max nodded. "I've been around a Martian, a Kryptonian, a Thanagarian but nothing. Do you think Azmuth might have something to do with it?" Ben asked but before anyone could answer, a white light appeared and on the floor was Azmuth.
"I can answer your question, Ben Tennyson." Azmuth spoke as Ben knelt down and looked at the creator of the Omnitrix. "There is a reason why the Omnitrix hasn't scanned those beings; the function has been disabled… by me." Azmuth explained which surprised everyone. "I disabled the function because I've been working on a project that would help you in the future; a component that will be able to upgrade the Omnitrix." Azmuth explained which surprised the trio as Ben knelt down.
"That's amazing, when do I get it?" Ben asked like an impatient 10 year old.
"Once it's done," Azmuth explained as he took Ben's arm and started checking the Omnitrix. "The other reason behind the upgrade is that it will boost the aliens' abilities." Azmuth explained which made Ben smile and surprise Kevin while making Gwen concerned.
"Do you think the boost to Ben aliens will affect him?" Gwen asked but Azmuth shook his head.
"Don't be so concerned. I do know what I'm doing." Azmuth answered as he looked at the trio. "I'll be returning back to Galvan Prime to continue work on the component." Azmuth told them as he took out a device and pressed it with his thumb, teleporting him away.
"A new upgrade part for the Omnitrix? I wonder what Azmuth is making." Ben smiled as he was looking forward to seeing what the new part could do to the Omnitrix.
