He realized Rena's routine after school was to go to the teachers lounge before heading out. Instead of going home after the bell he waited for her to leave and made his move. He left the gift on her desk and quickly made his way out and quickly left the school.
"So teacher Rena is the one." Isanari said from behind him.
"What are you talking about?" Maruo played dumb.
"I followed you. Nothing wrong with your pick. I just wish you told me about it." Isanari said.
"Not like anything will happen. She's a teacher and I'm a student. It will never happen." Maruo said.
Rena made her way back to the classroom only to see a gift on her desk. "What's this?" She said and opened it. She was surprised with chocolates and a bear. And a card that read i'm really glad you're my teacher. You make school worth it. Merry Christmas. "There's no signature. Hmm." Rena said and looked at the letter. She saw the handwriting before taking out a small essay she made her students do. She quickly went to work.
It is now the new semester and Valentine's day is tomorrow.
"You gonna get Rena anything?" Isanari asked Maruo.
"No. Why would I?" Maruo answered.
"Cus you like her." Isanari said.
"Idk. It wouldn't matter anyways." Maruo said.
"You never know. What if this makes her heart skip." Isanari tried to persuade him.
It was now the day after Valentine's Day. Maruo chickened out and didn't do anything. As he was walking down the hallway he was stopped by Rena.
"Thank you for the flowers. Maruo." She said to him.
"What flowers?" He asked.
"The ones you left on my desk yesterday. I really do love roses, thank you." She said.
Isanari. Thought Maruo.
"This is a little embarrassing to admit but that's my first time ever receiving a valentines gift from a boy. Thank you again." She told him with and left for the teachers lounge.
He might be going crazy because Maruo could've sworn he saw her blush.
It was not the last day of school. All the students left to start their summer.
"See you Rena. Thanks for the year." Isanari said and left the room leaving Maruo and Rena the only 2 in the classroom.
"Is something wrong Maruo?" Rena asked.
"I'm just a little sad this is the last day. I really like you as my teacher." He said.
"I'm a little sad too. You are my favorite student." Rena said.
"Really?" He said.
"You are. You're also the most brilliant one. You have a bright future in store. Now don't be down anymore. Every ending is also the beginning of something." She told him.
School has started again. Maruo and Isanari once again have the same class and sit next to each other.
"Let's go. Another year of free homework." Isanari commented.
"At least try a little this year." Maruo told him.
RING RING RING.
The bell rang meaning class has started. A minute passed before the teacher walked in.
"Sorry I'm late, I got a little lost trying to find the 3rd year classroom. Anyways I'm Rena your teacher for the year. Nice to meet you." Rena said to the class
Maruo and Isanari were in the library studying.
"Dude this is your year. Ask out Rena." Isanari said.
"She'll say no. What's the point?" Maruo replied
"Be a man for once. You've gotten taller and better than last year. You even had one girl confess to you. Maruo, have more confidence in yourself and if she says no at least you tried. You know how many people beat themselves up for years for not trying." Isanari said.
"Idk man. We've built a very nice student teacher relationship. I would hate to ruin it with this." Maruo said.
It was the middle of the semester. Maruo was finishing his test and was the last one in the classroom.
"Done." He said and handed the text to Rena.
"You always take the longest. Maruo, you know the material as well as I do. You should fly through these tests." Rena said to him.
"Well I always check my answers. . . . Plus I get to see you more if I stay longer." Maruo said, hoping it wouldn't get weird.
"You're sweet. I like that about you." Rena said and started to pack up. She had more papers than usual. Even had a big box of supplies which she struggled with.
"Let me help you with that." Maruo said and immediately picked it up for her. "I'll help you take it to your car." He said.
"Thank you Maruo." Rena said and led the way to the car. She opened the trunk and put the box in it. "Thank you again. How can I repay you?" She asked.
"There's no need for th-GGGRRR" Maruo stomach growled. "Gotta go bye." He tried to quickly leave.
"Wait." Rena said and even grabbed his arm. "Let me feed you. It's the least I can do." She said without letting go of his hand.
Maruo kept thinking about what Isanari told him. "Okay. Where to now?" He said.
"My place." Rena said.
Maruo was sitting on the couch trying to keep his composure. He was in Rena's apartment while she was cooking him a meal. She made her way to the table in the living room and served 2 portions.
"Please sit." She told him and he listened. "Now be honest with me, and tell me if it's good." She told him.
He ate a bit of the fish dish. "Oh my God. This is delicious." He said and kept eating.
Yes he likes me food. Rena thought before eating herself. They made small talk and Maruo was able to learn more about her.
"Thank you again for the meal Rena. It was great. Your husband must be lucky." He said.
"I don't have a husband or even a boyfriend. Now get going. I don't want you to get in trouble for getting home late." She said.
"Bye Rena. See you in class." He walked off.
Once he was out of view Rena freaked out. Oh my God. I finally had a boy over at my place. My first ever. And he liked my cooking. I was so scared he wasn't gonna like it. Good job Rena. She thought.
The 2 started to form a very special relationship. Every time Maruo helped her out she would invite him over and feed him. The more they did this the more they got to know each other personally. It was now Christmas Eve and Maruo was over at her place.
"Here you go Maruo. Merry Christmas." Rena gave him a gift. He opened and it was a white button and a tie. "Clothes for your future. You have to be professional at times." She said.
"Thank you. And here Merry Christmas." He said and handed her a small box.
"Why thank you." She said and opened the box GASP. She was surprised to see earrings and a bracelet. "Maruo, how much did this cost?" She asked.
"Don't worry about that. I saved up from my job at the supermarket. Rena you've helped me a lot in school and in life. I just want to repay you." He said.
"Very well. But please don't spend this much money on a gift. You should only spend this much on a girlfriend." Rena said.
"I don't have a girlfriend. And like I said before, it's a thank you for helping me." Maruo replied.
After that comment Rena checked him out. "Really you don't have a girlfriend. You're smart, tall, and have you been working out?" She asked.
"Yes. I've been going to the gym with Isanari. But still no girlfriend. My focus is school." Maruo stated.
"Very admirable. And whichever woman gets you will be the lucky one. Now go home and spend time with your family." Rena ordered.
"Alright. I'll see you later and again merry Christmas." Maruo said and with that left the apartment.
After he left Rena got calls from her friends and mother. They all talked about how she should get a boyfriend and settle down. My mom and friends keep telling me to get a man. Hmm. All the ones I meet are dumb and immature. If only they were like Maruo. . . WAIT DID I JUST THINK THAT. Maruo is a great student but. Hmm now that I think about it. He is the type that I like. No no no. I'm his teacher and he's my student. Plus Maruo probably doesn't see me that way. Rena finished her thoughts.
"Yes we did it, Maruo!" Isanari yelled at him. "We finished highschool. Let's go! To be honest I didn't think I was gonna make it." He said.
"I was thinking the same thing." Maruo commented. As the 2 were celebrating graduation Maruo noticed Rena walking by and stared at her.
"Go confess." Isanari said.
"No. We already said goodbyes. Me confessing would just ruin how our relationship ends." Maruo answered.
"Come on. From what you've said you actually have a chance with her. Come on, what do you have to lose." Isanari told his friend.
"The relationship would never happen. It would never work. I'm her student and she's my teacher. And that's all we will be." Maruo sounded very sad.
"Hmm. Well we just graduated. So you're no longer her student. Come on. Are you really going to go on with life wondering if it would have happened. Why not graduate with no regrets. No what ifs. Please friend, I want to see you happy and I know she can grant that." Isanari said.
Maruo thought long and hard about what he said. "You're right. For once you're right." Maruo says and the 2 follow Rena. She enters a classroom.
"You got this man. Failing is better than not trying." Isanari told him.
Maruo took many deep breaths. He knew who was on the other side of the door and he knew what he was gonna do. He took one last breath before entering the classroom.
Maruo and Rena were facing each other.
"Rena these last 8 years with you have been the best. Making memories and overcoming challenges has all been part of the fun. I've made up my mind. Will you marry m"" YES. YES. YES AND YES AGAIN." Rena cut him off. He then put the ring on her.
She then gave him him a kiss full of love. "What took you so long?"
"And yup your pregnant." A nurse who doing the ultrasound said.
"I'm gonna be a dad!" Maruo said sounded very excited.
"I'm gonna be mom." Rena said.
" Yes we finally get to start a family. I need to call Isanari." Maruo said and was about to take his phone.
"Hold on. Looks like there's more." The nurse said.
"We're having twins!" The married couple said together.
"Actually your having quintuplets."
Maruo has just got back from working at the hospital. His house looked more like a zoo.
"Ahh. There you are. Help." Rena said while trying to get her kids under control.
Maruo sees 2 of his daughters chasing each other. "Gotcha." He picked one up. "Nino why are you chasing Yotsuba?" He asked her.
"She took my toy away and won't give it back." A small Nino said.
"Yotsuba play nice." He told her. She instead ran away from him laughing.
"Father when your free can play with me?" Another one of us daughters said.
"Sure thing Ichika. One sec." He told his daughter.
"Dad can I borrow the tablet. I want to listen to music." One of his daughters asked.
"Sure thing Miku let me go get it." He said.
"Dad I'm hungry, what are we eating?" His last daughter said.
"Um ask your mother Itsuki." He said.
It took the combined efforts of Rena and Maruo to get them to calm down. They played, fed them, and put them to sleep.
"Hmm. I think I prefer them when they're sleeping." Maruo told his wife.
"And you wanted more kids. Be for real Maruo, our hands are already full." Rena said.
"You're right. And yet I look forward to coming home everyday." He said and hugged his wife. "I love you Rena.
"I love you too Maruo. I'm really glad you confessed to me all those years ago." Rena said.
The 5 sisters were looking at their father. He was sitting at a table with a glass bottle.
"Um dad when is mom coming back." One asked
No answer.
"When's mom comi-" "SHE'S NOT COMING BACK." Maruo calmed down once noticed his daughters got scared of him yelling. He kneeled down and gave them all a group hug. "She's not coming back."
FLASHBACK END
"Sigh. What's your point." Maruo asked his friend and finished another drink.
"My point is you keep saying it's impossible and it will never work. Your said those same things about Rena. A guy marrying 5 girls and a student marrying his teacher. Both sound impossible. Yet one happened and one is gonna happen." Isanari finished.
"There different. I got lucky." Maruo defended himself.
"Bullshit. Come on old friend. Why don't you want your daughters to be happy." Isanari asked and ordered them both another drink.
"What father would let all his daughters marry the same guy." Maruo said.
"What's wrong with my son. He's smart, he's hardworking, got a future in store, and he's makes your girls happy. What father could ask for more." Isanari said.
"Sigh. I need another drink." Maruo said and kept ordering. They ordered shot after shot. They were eventually cut off.
"Seriously, why not their relationship. My son has made your daughters smarter, he's a loyal motherfucker, and he's got my looks. Come on, why." Isanari said.
"Because." Maruo said and tried to order another drink but was denied.
The 2 went back to Maruos penthouse. It was empty but he had a few bottles of whiskey which they finished.
"Now listen here. My son loves your daughters and they love my son. Yet you keep saying no. Don't you want your daughters to live a happy life? " Maruo asked
"Sigh. That's the problem. I've seen my girls and they really do love your son. The way they talk about him, the way they look at him, and especially how they are when they're with him. The smiles I saw him give them. It's the same one Rena had when we married. Your son could probably pull it off too. But the problem is the relationship itself. If they end up getting married and the public finds out. It would go to hell. Especially with Ichika starting to get famous. All of them would get a lot of backlash and hate. It would get to the point where he has to choose one. I don't want them to go through what we did. I don't want them to lose the love of their life. That pain is something I don't want them to go through. That's why I'm against it. Cuz I'm afraid they'll get hurt in the long run." Maruo finished.
"Losing love is tough. But remember all the fun and amazing memories you had till then. The reason it hurts so much is because of the journey that happened. Plus no one knows the future. We didn't marry our wives thinking they would pass away. I know the future can be scarry. Especially when it involves your kids, but don't they deserve a chance at falling in love and starting a family. If both parents supported the relationship the public would hear them out. Maruo, together we can help them have what we had and better." Isanari said.
Maruo sat there taking it in. Wondering. " Rena would want them to be happy no matter how that looked." Maruo though of his late wife. He remembered just how much she loved and supported each one of their daughters. "Sigh. Failing is better than not trying." Maruo said and looked at his friend. "One more thing." He said.
"What is it?" Isanari asked wondering
"I'm gonna puke. BLLLAAAAAAAA
Fuutaro was lying in bed remembering what he did. I did it. I FUCKING DID IT. Holy shit it felt so good. Fucking Itsuki was amazing. Now I want fuck the others even more. I do not care what I have to do. I will make their father accept our relationship.
