They were an anomaly.
That is why they must be loved.
They came from far away.
That is why they should be loved.
They became a god.
That is why...
Walking down a dark hallway, the figure felt uncomfortable. He had been walking for so long and yet there was no sight of the 'door' that he had read in the First Wizard King's diary. He was sure that what he had read wasn't a fake since it was sealed with intricate magic formulas that a normal mage wouldn't be able to decipher.
Filled with doubt, and almost giving up, the man felt a spark of mana that came from deeper in the hallway. It was dark so he cannot see much, but he knows which direction was the way forward.
The longer he walked, the closer the unknown mana became.
A door.
Emitting a weak light, yet it had so much mana due to how many spells it had as a lock. Different barriers, some that he didn't even know can be made in such a scale.
As he went closer, the man's face lit up.
He reached out his hand, hoping that he would get the chance to research the spells engraved at the door to further increase his knowledge. But the moment he did, the door lit up and started to pulse as if it was alive.
A place of slumber.
A place of awakening.
The words floated in front of the man as he felt a bit of disappointment as the spells disappeared one by one, leaving him no time to even check one out. It was a shame that he didn't get to preserve at least one, as the spells disappeared every second.
It almost took a minute for all of the spells to disperse, and that made the man even more eager to know just what is this 'treasure' that the diary had spoke of. Being rich may not be a faraway dream anymore.
With those thoughts the man watched as the door open.
What met him was an abundant jungle, with bugs, birds, and even small animals. He cannot begin on where to look at as he saw the greenery that existed so deep underground, as the whole trip that he had walked was a barren wasteland.
It did disappoint him a bit to see not a sight of gold or treasure that a dungeon would normally have. Though he can see that there is some sort of structure that obviously had something inside.
As he continued to walk further inside, he jumped in surprise as he felt that he had stepped on something. The mana swirled around, as he can see that he had activated some sort of spell.
He expected a sort of trap, but as he waited nothing of the sort happened. The only unusual thing he had observed is how the animal started to gather around the structure. Now that he was closer, he can see that it was some sort of small house. The door that was covered in vines moved, as if something had hit it inside.
After two hits, it stopped. There was a living thing inside the structure. Just to be sure, he stood on guard on what would happen on the next few seconds. And as he predicted, a small flicker of mana was felt as the door was blasted away along with the vines.
"What a fucking headache..." he heard a voice as he saw somebody emerge from the structure. Holding their head, the person slowly raised their head and he was shocked as he had seen the prettiest person he may have come across.
His eyes didn't know where he was supposed to look as he saw that the stranger only had a piece of cloth covering them. He didn't even know what they should call them as he can't figure out the person's gender.
They looked at him, then as if doing something he wasn't supposed to, he looked down, his face red.
"Who's the current Wizard King?" the voice rung like a bell, small yet loud enough to be heard. He looked up quickly only to come face-to-face with the stranger, only a few inches apart. With a closer look, he didn't know how to describe the eye color they had as each had different colors, with a weirdly shaped beauty mark under each eye.
It took him a few seconds to regain calmness as he answered the question.
"J-Julius Novachrono..." he unexpectedly answered politely.
The stranger pulled away with an annoyed expression. With a curse under their breath, they ruffled their hair. Their actions showed the complicated emotions after he answered.
"500 years... Lemiel..." then he saw the stranger stare at him. As if studying his appearance, as if trying to find something.
"I don't recognize you. How'd you find this place." He was a bit confused on how the stranger worded their question. But he felt that he needed to answer, and appease the irritated mood they currently had.
"A... Ayー I am... I read the diary of the First Wizard King which spoke of this place." he supplied and that seems to calm them down a bit.
"Your origin. You don't look like a noble." They said which had shocked him a bit as he didn't expect them to know about the outside world. He coughed a bit before speaking.
"I-I am a servant under the Silva house..." that wasn't what he was supposed to say. He felt weird as he cannot move his eyes away from the stranger's. His body cannot move, but he can't even speak about it.
"Where's the diary." they asked, and he can feel himself take something from his bag. He wasn't supposed to do that. The precious diary that he had spent his whole fortune to get his hands on. Against his will, his body gave the diary to the other.
They took it, not letting their eyes leave him. He caught on what was happening. To think that magic like this existed, he blamed himself for being clueless.
"Unimportant. Not even a side character." The stranger placed a hand on his head. Then, this suffocating dread surfaced. He had felt this sensation before. It was same to the time that his co-worker had offended one of the Silva noble.
Death.
"You knowing my history is a nuisance." The stranger's eyes glowed, as for the first time in his life, he witnessed such beautiful mana. Among the fear of death, the admiration he felt to the magic they were evoking was second.
"Rest."
Myrddin can feel the anger to the point where he wanted to just destroy everything. But they also know that Qui had did their best to bring them back without any repercussions. It even felt like they managed to remove a few more restrictions as they can feel less burden on their soul.
Looking at the passed out stranger, Myrddin made a few more spells to make sure that the man can't remember anything concerning them and Lemiel.
With a click of his fingers, he had teleported the man outside of this place. He didn't know where exactly as he didn't know he current geography outside, but he did make sure that the man had no missing limbs after the teleportation.
He looked at the exaggerated size of a diary that Lemiel wrote. He was sure that it belonged to Lemiel as he had recognized the child's handwriting. Opening it to the first page made him stop.
To my dear mentor... Myrddin.
He traced the letters that Lemiel wrote. The way that his name was written was a bit crooked. The child must have contemplated on his name, because he didn't have the chance to tell Lemiel his true name.
Myrddin took a few seconds before he started to read through the diary. Though it cannot be called reading as it looked as if he was just skimming through it. Such a thick diary, packed full of words, mostly containing Lemiel's pursuit in magic and the several sentences that were written as if he was talking to Myrddin.
Reaching the mid part of the diary made Myrddin stop as he read...
What's your real name...
It's not Myrddin, Myrddin...
I can't even write your name...
He continued, then as he reached the last page, just like the front, and unlike the content, it only contained one line.
What's your name...
Myrddin took a breath as he slowly closed the book. In the end, he wasn't able to tell the child his real name.
Holding the book close to his chest he looked around. With a hand raised, he started to redo the seal and barriers that this resting place had. That was what Lemiel called it. Because this was the place he returned to whenever he wanted to relax, the place where he had written this diary.
The place he always visited, hoping that one day, Myrddin would wake up.
"What an idiot." Myrddin murmured as he went out before finishing up. He added a small opening in the place so that he can visit it anytime. Then after all was done, he teleported out.
High above the sky, he made a broom to blend in just in case someone spotted him. It would be weird for a random person to be floating in mid air without a magic tool.
The geography changed significantly, the most noticeable thing was that familiar large skull he was seeing. Looking down, he saw that some children that were playing outside spotted him. He moved quickly and flew towards the top of the skull.
There, just like how he knew, was Lemiel. What was once Lemiel, and what would be Lemiel in the near future. He delicately tapped the diary on the stone's head.
"It's Rinne. My real name." Myrddin spoke then placed a few pats on the statue's head. He turned to the distance, facing the direction where the Clover Kingdom is. If he wanted to fit in then he better search for a way to become a magic knight. He also wanted to meet some of the people he likes, so becoming a magic knight with a high position would be preferable.
It would be better to fly there normally instead of teleporting since he wanted to get a better look on how the places changed. Of course, he floated a bit slow above the town where the protagonist is.
Then as if remembering something, he went back to the skull and went to the cave that it had made on the ground. Seeing what he went there for, he smirked as he walked close to that tablet.
Placing a hand on it, he placed a high level sealing magic on it. This would surely piss off those people. Myrddin felt a presence.
"Whoaahhhh!!!" the voice of a child sounded. Well, its not really a child but rather a teenager. Well, with his age, every human he comes across is a child in his eyes.
With the easy to remember gray hair and green eyes, the protagonist of this world, Asta. With the way Asta currently looked, this was before he had received his grimoire.
Asta jumped up in surprise as he saw the stranger look his way, but that didn't stop him from staring as he watched the stranger use some strange spell. But the way it was evoked was so beautiful that Asta can't help but admire it.
"Good day, young man." Myrddin smiled as he finished the seal. It seems like he didn't need to approach the child as Asta had come running towards him.
"Whoah! Whoah! Amazing! What kind of magic was that?!" the pure admiration, the underlying envy, but accompanied with love of magic, Myrddin can see why someone like Asta was made, was selected, as the protagonist. Overflowing love to what he doesn't have, and the acceptance that he would't be able to use a miniscule of the magic he so admired.
"A magic that would protect this place." Asta was a bit surprised when the stranger placed a had on his head.
"You're quite the diligent child. Keep it up, future Wizard King." that further surprised Asta as this was the first time he had met the stranger.
"Wha-?! How'd you know that future Wizard King! How'd you know that!?" pure shock, Myrddin can't even feel a speck of negative emotion from Asta. The child was genuinely curious.
"Well you always train here, and you sometimes shout. I didn't mean to listen in, but I also visit this place sometimes so I see you." what Myrddin provided was half a lie. Even though he didn't see Asta as Myrddin, his other life had seen how Asta did his best to come up with solutions to his constitution.
"Ah! Is that so? How come I haven't seen you before though?" closing his eyes and deep in thought, trying his best to think of the past few days if he had seen such an easy to remember person. With the stranger's appearance, it would be easy to spot them.
"Then that must mean my magic was that good since you didn't notice me. Looks like I was caught today because I wanted to relax." Myrddin withdrew his hand from Asta's head.
"It looks like I need to go. Do you best, Asta." the child saw Myrddin manifest a broom out of thin air and can't help but be amazed at the magic in front of him.
And as he saw Myrddin leave, flying in the sky, Asta was left with another question.
"How'd they know my name???!!!"
Julius Novachrono had crocodile tears as he faced the stacks of paperwork that occupied most of the space of the table. Sometimes having a capable assistant worked against his favor as he was once again caught by Marx back when he was walking around town. What's more, he was in disguise and he was still caught.
It was another peaceful day, as he thought so.
But with the way he felt an unfamiliar presence enter the vicinity of his barrier made him raise his guard up. He made no move to approach the presence, as he waited on what its next action was, but Julius saw that they continued to fly above the capital with no care at the magic knights that had noticed them as a stranger.
It was a bit funny to see the magic knights not know what to do as the intruder had flown with such confidence that made them think twice on whether to stop them or not. It might also be the fact that the intruder made their way towards Julius' place that made them question if the intruder was someone important that they didn't know about.
He was curious on just who it was, and so placed down the pen and stood up, making sure that he can welcome the intruder. It has been a while since he had seen so much confidence to someone that had trespassed the capital.
Opening the window with magic, the intruder entered his office. Well, enter might be a bit wrong as Julius saw the intruder fall down from his broom. Julius chuckled as he can see a bit of panic now that he saw the intruder's body language. They did have magic knight chasing after him, though half-heartedly due to how calmly the intruder approached the Wizard King's office.
That was when Julius also registered the appearance of the intruder, making him tense as if he had just seen something he thought to be make-believe.
Hair white to black, with eyes of differing color. My mentor is someone who fits the word beautiful.
Julius placed a hand on his mouth in shock.
Accompanied with his deep understanding on the fundamentals and nature of magic in this worldー I admire him.
"I believe that one day, he would once again wake from his rest and teach me more about magic." Julius slowly started as he took two steps towards the intruder. It seems like his presence was noted as he saw the intruder look at him.
My mentorー
Myrddin.
"Myrddin..."
That seems to have surprised the intruder quite a bit since Julius can see the shock his face had. His, he, him, by the records, but is that really a man? Julius thought.
"What the fuck? How come you know my name?" the rough words contradicted his appearance. But what was most notable is the fact that the intruder一 Myrddin?一 started to release a his mana. It was such a large amount that even Julius, the Wizard King, felt goosebumps.
The door to Julius' office opened harshly.
"WIZARD KING!" several magic knights came in armed. The heads of the three houses were also there as they deem the situation as the highest form of emergency. Their footsteps halted as they felt suffocated by the mana that was coming from the intruder.
"Tell me, Julius Novachrono." The intruder slowly stood up. He raised his hand as an unknown magic to Julius was being brought out.
The magic knights cannot move and can only stare. The intruder's long hair floated along the mana that the was letting out. Then, as if on cue, the current heads of the three families moved at the same time and each sending the highest magic they can use to suppress the intruder.
"That is not a name you should know." the three heads were in shock as their magic was cancelled. They saw the intruder's other hand moving, leading them to think of the impossible. The next moment was a blur as they felt their limbs be held by something, and had them floating mid-air, unable to move.
"Silva-sama!"
"Older brother!"
"You一"
"What is this."
Despite their panic, they caught sight of the calm Wizard King that walked towards the intruder. They felt a small speck of ease as they can see Julius calm countenance.
"Myrddin." Julius reached out, then his next actions shocked everyone, even the intruder.
Holding Myrddin's outstretched arm towards him with both of his hands, he placed them on his forehead as he slowly bent down, resting one knee on the ground, bowing at the intruder.
"Wha一" the intruder made a noise, while the others were speechless at Julius' actions. It also made it possible for the suffocating mana to be dispersed as the intruder was caught off guard by what Julius did.
Since they had been waiting for this person to wake up, it would be better to announce their identity sooner than later. It might also be because he had wanted to gloat that it was in his era that this person had woken up to.
"Mentor of the first Wizard King, Myrddin. I一 We have been waiting for you to awaken." Julius' words were followed by silence.
That was when the three head's felt the restriction disappear and they landed safely on their feet. They could restrain the intruder any moment, but the Wizard King's statement stopped them as they stared at the small figure of the intruder.
"Huh..."
"Wha..."
"WHAAAAAATTTT!!!!????!"
The several magic knight by the door reacted at the unbelievable information they just learned. There were no rooms for suspicion as the Wizard King had been the one to say it. If a common magic knight spoke of such, they would be ridiculed, but the actions and words of Julius Novachrono was enough proof that the intruder was who Julius had said he was.
"As foretold by the First Wizard King, Lemiel Silvamillion Clover, you have awoken from your long slumber." Julius slowly stood up and looked at Myrddin's face. Seeing the look of shock and confusion made him quite the sight to look at.
"I, Julius Novachrono, 28th Wizard King..." he let go of Myrddin's hand and saw him relax a bit.
Then seeing the lowered guard of Myrddin, Julius hugged him.
"... Welcome you to Clover Kingdom!"
"Hie..." Myrddin made a small squeal as he can feel the intruding hands that had was obviously molesting him. It took him quite a bit to register what was currently happening since it had been quite while since he had an encounter with perverts. And Julius Novachrono was a big one especially when it concerns magic.
"L-Let go of me!" the three family heads saw how Myrddin had kicked off the Wizard King off of him, and in all honesty, they didn't feel sorry for Julius as they clearly saw how the man had molested the so-called mentor of the first wizard king.
Seeing the paralyzed magic knights, then the silent order of Julius who was starting to appease the offended Myrrdin, they knew what needed to be done. They made sure to lead the knights out of the room, making sure to get across the message that the events they witnessed is something that cannot become word of mouth.
"What kind of person molests someone in their first meeting." Myrddin regained his calm as he made a chair he could sit on. Of course, the sudden manifestation of something that wasn't there had brought stars in Julius' eyes.
"Will you do me the honor of knowing what magic you did just now?!" the man clung close to him, which both embarrassed and annoyed Myrddin. He placed a hand on Julius' forehead, making sure to place enough strength that would make it hurt a bit.
"Sit down, you brat." by the time Myrddin let go of his head, Julius noticed that he was sitting down on his office chair, as his amazed gaze followed as Myrddin walked back to the chair he had made.
"Speak." a rude, short and straightforward was given, making Julius chuckle at how Myrddin spoke because it just how it was described at he records passed down to magic knights that became Wizard Kings.
"The First Wizard King made a record." Julius took out a hard bind book. He didn't even manage to continue his story as the book disappeared, he he saw it reappear in Myrddin's hands.
Teleportation magic? no... quite different... then... the ability to control items. Telekinesis. But it disappeared from thin air, Telekinesis isn't that fast. The way Julius' eyes sparkled hid nothing. Myrddin ignored the blatant staring of course as he read the book.
To ensure he would not be forgotten, isolated, or called a liar.
I have a mentor who introduced himself as Myrddin.
The bottom part of the page had a drawing that caught the appearance of Myrddin, but it was as if a toddler had drawn it.
"He can't even draw a person properly, that child." Julius saw Myrddin chuckle at the illustration, but he couldn't help but notice the slight sadness that flashed Myrddin's face. The next moment made him blank as he saw Myrddin quickly flip the pages, skimming through everything.
"What's with him and praising my appearance? There's even a full page that tells how I slept. Did that brat stare at me while I slept?!" Then Myrddin turned to the page before the last one, and noticed a seal on it.
Myrddin looked at Julius and pointed at the page.
"That is a seal that the past Wizard King's, and even I had no success on opening up. I believe there is a thick book in the library that tells the struggles of the past Wizard King's with that seal and how it annoyed them to death." Julius chuckled while Myrddin sighed.
Julius saw Myrddin tamper with the seal, and saw a string of words appear on thin air. With sparkling eyes, he stood up and went closer to have a better view. He also noticed that Myrddin made no movements to stop him, making him take a few more steps to be closer. It made him feel accepted by the wizard as he received no complaints when he came to the point that he was beside him.
"Of course they wouldn't be able to unseal this. That brat placed a condition."
"Uhuh! What condition?!" Julius' sparkling eyes made Myrddin wince.
"My blood."
"What?" Julius asked back, just in case he heard Myrddin wrong.
"That brat always asked if he can have a bit of it. He said he wanted to make some experiments with it." Myrddin sighed as Julius became silent as if something clicked in his brain.
Julius recalled a passage from the record.
Myrddin is always mysterious. Along with his mana and versatility in magic, it bothered me if he was human or not.
Able to converse with magical creatures.
Not needing to eat.
No signs of aging.
A sealing magic to preserve his appearance...
or he might be something not human entirely.
"Do gods even bleed... heh." Julius flinched when he saw a cold smile from Myrddin. Then hearing a thin sound, he saw Myrddin's finger have a shallow cut. He gulped, gluing his eyes as he saw Myrddin place his cut finger above the page.
A pure white almost transparent liquid dropped, then with a green glow, the cut healed. As the blood dropped on the page, the seal started to become undone.
"Never speak of what you saw here today, child." Myrddin gave Julius a smile that didn't reach his eyes. Then focused back on the record that had started playing. It was similar to a projection, like a recorded video. It was one of the things he taught Lemiel, and one the things he told the child to not use.
A slightly older Lemiel greeted Myrddin. It seems like Lemiel didn't manage to implement a sound. Then as if knowing there wasn't enough time, Lemiel forced a smile then sent a wave.
The record ended.
Julius saw Myrddin make a few tweaks and the recording started to play again. Then stopped at the moment Lemiel smiled.
"What a stupid smile." The harsh words almost made Julius question Myrddin's personality, but then saw a genuine smile on his face.
"Ahahahahah! Look at this brat. I told him that he can't use this magic and yet he still did. He didn't even manage to include a sound."
Then Myrddin looked down, closing the book. Julius saw him run his hand on his face, but with the way he appeared, Julius can conclude that he wasn't mocking nor underestimating Lemiel.
"I can't remember his voice." sighing, Myrddin then looked at Julius, then placed a hand on the man's head. It was a bit awkward since Myrddin looked younger than Julius, but he was the one that was being treated like a child.
"Well despite being unrelated, the two of you look similar." Then moving his hand on Julius cheek, Myrddin pinched it once.
"Both are brats. Hahaha!"
Coming to his senses, Julius sat up even straighter.
"Right! I have a question!" acting like a child he raised his arm.
"What?" after giving back the record to Julius, Myrddin crossed his arms.
"What is Myrddin-sama's gender?!" it wasn't a joke since Julius really is curious. The records say that he was a man, yet there are passages that describe Myrddin as her or she. It had been one of the things that have been debated by the previous Wizard Kings.
"Why? Is knowing that important?" Myrddin didn't care much as there were times he wanted to be a man, and there are days he liked being a woman. The same can be said to Qui, but he thinks that they preferred the appearance of a man at the moment.
"Not really! I just wanna know." Myrddin can see that Julius was telling the truth, and there weren't any underlying ideas behind the question about his gender.
"Man, woman. Both, I don't know." Myrddin stood up, just noticing that he only had a piece of cloth as clothes. It might have something to do with the intricate preservation magic that Lemiel placed on the cloth that made it comfortable.
"Ehhh? What's with that answer?" seeing a grown man pout wasn't a pleasant sight.
"If I want a vagina then I would have one, the same when it comes to a dick. My gender depends on my mood, and how I am perceived by others. If they see me as a woman then they can, if they see me as a man then that is also acceptable." The sudden topic with the private part had caught Julius in surprise.
"Heh~ Is that one of the benefits of being a god?" Julius scratched his chin in thought, then his eyes sparkled. "Being a god is kind of amusing!"
Well at least the man was open-minded.
"With that behind, my original goal here is to ask how I can become a magic knight." With a swift motion, as Myrddin swept the cloth off him was also the moment that clothes had appeared on him. He had observed how the clothes in the Clover Kingdom looked and based his clothes on that. The cloth that had covered him from before was turned into a cape.
"With Myrddin's status, you can become an important figurehead though? Why settle for being a magic knight?" with the usual childish pout, Julius sat back down on his office chair, while Myrddin walked close to a window to look at the capital.
"I would prefer not. Like, just let a few royalty and officials know my status then place me in a squad." the idea wasn't bad since that was one of Julius' plans for Myrddin. It would also do him good to have Myrddin as a close ally so that the other nobles he wasn't close with would be quiet for a while.
"I want to be placed in Silver Eagle. Yep." Julius just noticed but for someone who just woke up, Myrddin knows many things in Clover Kingdom. He also started speaking casually, which pleased Julius greatly.
"Why Silver Eagle?" Julius saw the stack of paper, and decided to continue his work as much as it pained him knowing he wouldn't finish it.
"Nozel Silva may let me have naps all I want." with a smile Myrddin let himself fall backwards. Julius wasn't alarmed as he had seen a large pillow appear and catch Myrddin as he fell.
"I'm bored. Wake me when you need me." with those simple words, Myrddin slept. Julius can't believe that Myrddin can quickly relax with a person he had just met. Though it might also be due to how powerful Myrddin is, as Julius can feel the several layer of protection that the wizard made just before he slept.
He can't even imagine how much time it would take him to make that thick barrier, and the other just made it a few seconds before his slumber.
My mentor is someone who fits the word beautiful.
First Wizard King... beautiful isn't enough to describe your mentor. Julius thought as he stared at the sleeping Myrddin. Then sighed, burying his face on the documents.
Awoken from its slumber, the shadow moved.
Feeling the awakening of a god, a shadow angered.
The gold soul flickered.
It found its next vessel, the gold soul floated.
Finding... Searching...
"Found you..."
