CHAPTER 22

"Jessie!"

I shot right up and grabbed onto a tiny wrist, ready to strike when I heard a pained shout and looked up to see Ciel glaring down at me.

"Oh Shit. Sorry Young-Uhh Cousin. What happened?"

"We fell asleep."

I winced apologetically, letting go of Ciel's wrist as he rubbed it with a grimace of pain. I sat up and looked around to see that everyone else was happily waking up from their restful sleep. But both Ciel and I were not feeling at ease at all. We had both fallen asleep in enemy territory and who knows what could have happened in the time we were snoozing away. I got up from my seat watched as Ciel got up from his seat but his face instantly paled as he started to fall forwards. I raced over and managed to catch him in time, steadying him as he clutched his head.

"Woah, easy there. You alright Young Master?"

"Fine. Just give me a second."

I let him hold onto my arm as I wrapped the other around his waist to hold him up. Glancing about, the other guests didn't seem to notice us as they continued chatting and preparing to leave. I heard the sounds of approaching footsteps and turned to see Violet approach, a look of concern plastered on his face.

"Is he alright?"

"Yeah, just feeling a little dizzy from standing up too quickly. It's nice to see doing well Violet."

"I didn't get around to saying thank you for last time. You saved my friend Greenhill."

"It's fine. Just doing my job and having some level of human decency."

Ciel finally got over his dizzy spell and he let go of my arm, standing up straight and composing himself again. Only then did I notice that Violet was pushing a cart that was filled with glass bottles of orange juice and cute little bags of cookies or sweets of some kind.

"That reminds me, why are you both here?"

"Curiosity and I suppose it's nice to take a break every once and a while. He's been working himself to death and when we heard that this place really does great things for the soul, we had to come see for ourselves and…well, here we are."

My response seemed good enough to not raise suspicions but I could tell that out of the P4, Violet was the most observant, so I had to be really careful with my body language and how I spoke. Violet took another look at the pale faced boy in my arms and let out a sigh.

"He's so frail and brittle. Here, take these souvenirs. They're on the house. Make sure he eats more."

He shoved a whole bunch of these little packages and bottles into my hands and then into Ciel's hands before pushing the cart away and vanishing with a wave of his hands. I was left dumbfounded as I looked over to Ciel who was equally as confused as I was.

"Okay, what the actual flipping fuck just happened?"

"Language Jessie. *sigh* Let's go. It doesn't seem like we will be able to get anything else right now."

We were given back our clothes which I made sure to pat down and shake about, checking pockets and insides of sleeves for any kind of bugging device or tracker but it seemed like nothing was out of place. We headed back outside, dodging and weaving our way through the crowd and onto the street where Sebastian was waiting with a carriage, a smug and amused smile flashed on his face. No matter how many times I saw him, I was always taken aback by how otherworldly he looked. Like the way he moved, spoke and carried himself, it was almost impossible to think of him as a human even though he looked like one. As we got closer, I could see his eyes travel up and down our bodies, like a lion sizing up its meal. It made me shiver.

"Welcome back. It seems you've managed to bring with you quite a bit of luggage."

"Violet insisted we take them."

"The cookies are pretty tasty. You should try them."

Ciel rolled his eyes as I munched on some cookies from the bag. Despite only being there for an hour or so, I was feeling really snacky and a bit lightheaded but I blamed that on sleeping in an upright position and being exposed to lots of light after being in a dark room for so long. Sebastian helped Ciel and I into the carriage as we took off back to the manor. It was customary for servants to never be seated next to their master, so Sebastian and I sat next to each other, facing Ciel.

"So what happened? It seemed like you were enjoying a nap in there."

"The P4 started singing as soon as the event started and then I remember Jessie was trying to tell me something but after that, I don't remember anything."

"There was some kind of strange smell right before the Young Master and I were whisked away into dreamland. But it doesn't seem like anything happened to us while we were knocked out."

"So essentially, the only fruits of your labour were these snacks?"

"Shut it!"

Ciel snapped causing Sebastian to chuckle as he looked over to me, still chowing down on the sweet sugar cookies. I tilted the bag towards the amused demon, offering him some but he shook his head and continued to watch me with a grin. Ciel sighed and asked Sebastian about what he managed to find. Sebastian explained that he had run into Inspector Abberline, the poor Scotland Yard guy that Ciel loved to torment. He had told Sebastian that a number of corpses had been turning up with no signs of post-mortem lividity or signs of visible wounds. Overall, the corpses looked "beautiful". I shuddered at the thought of beautiful corpses and remembered that usually Undertaker was tasked with dissecting corpses and putting them together nicely.

"Moreover, none of the corpses have anything in common with each other, including status, class, age, gender, occupation and so on. They're banging their heads against the wall because their investigation is going nowhere. They asked if we could share information."

"Ha! To think the Scotland Yard are willing to swallow their pride and ask help from such wicked nobles like us."

Since living with the Phantomhive family, I realised that our family and the Scotland Yard were always butting heads despite trying to accomplish the same goal, removing the bad and wicked from the streets of London. Though I suppose the Scotland Yard saw themselves as good hearted people, striving to enact lawful justice and trying to keep crime off the streets out of the goodness of their hearts while the Phantomhive family knew that we were wicked people who only did what we did for survival and because of the Queen's orders. We didn't need to delude ourselves. We were pretty shitty people who were willing to murder, torture, manipulate and double cross people for our goals and for our survival. Though genuine care and love wasn't missing, especially for each other.

"But we are still lacking information. There isn't enough to surmise a reason for these deaths just yet. Could it be murder? Or suicides?"

"I thought you might say that. So I decided to take a walk around London. While enjoying my stroll, I came across a few bodies. I couldn't ascertain if any kind of decomposition was still occurring but 5 of those corpses matched the features described by Inspector Abberline and they were buried in the Epping Forest to the west of London."

"Sounds like you had tons of fun. How badly were they decomposed? Maybe they were recently dead?"

"The bodies had various levels of decomposition, but they didn't seem to be very recent."

"Oh, well at least the bodies were buried together. That's be easier for us to collect them and get autopsies performed on their bodies. Undertaker can just – Oh…right..."

I let out a sigh that was reciprocated by Ciel who rubbed his temple as we both came to realise that Undertaker was no longer available to perform these autopsies for us. Mostly because we had no idea where the hell he was.

"Right…we cannot rely on Undertaker anymore. We will need them examined but I suppose we will just have to send them to Abberline. Sebastian, take care of this."

The demon bowed and went to stand up, one hand on the door handle of the carriage and I knew that he was preparing to leap out of a moving carriage. Things like that were a piece of cake to him, you know…being a supernatural being with impeccable abilities and plot armour.

"Understood. I shall take care of it imme-"

Suddenly Sebastian's eyes flared bright red, widening in shock as he lunged over and tore off Ciel's shirt, pulling it off him with so much aggression that it shook the carriage, rocking us from side to side and caused me to drop my cookie. I let out a groan of disappointment as I stared at the crumbly mess on the floor.

"Awww! My cookie!"

"Sebastian! What in the blazes?!"

"I smell the scent of blood."

"What? But I haven't been injured anywhere!"

"No! Right here. It's so faint and small, but there are traces of a needle prick."

Sebastian pointed to the extremely tiny hole that was present over the top of inside of Ciel's elbow and I shuddered. A sudden rush of dread filled my body as my mind raced with a thousand thoughts. Without hesitation, Sebastian reached over and grabbed my arms and tore off my sleeves to check my arms as well and sure enough, there was a tiny little hole on the inside of my elbow, above my veins. His eyes were filled with genuine concern as he turned to face Ciel.

"I deeply apologise for my incredible negligence. I failed to take this situation seriously because I assumed that I would be able to sense if you were harmed or wounded immediately. We need to go for immediate medical treatment. Jessie hang on."

"I'm feeling fine tho-"

I didn't get the chance to finish my sentence as Sebastian threw me over his shoulder and scooped Ciel into his arms as we flew out of the carriage and over the rooftops of London. The wind whipped around us as we soared across the rooftops so fast that keeping my eyes open was painful. We eventually arrived at a familiar manor that now housed Wolfram and Sieglinde. It was in an isolated and quiet area of London with plenty of room and woods surrounding it. We approached the front door where I slide off of his back and Sebastian quickly knocked on the door. A moment passed and when no one answered, he knocked again with enough intensity to shake the walls. I could hear the sound of thundering footsteps and stepped back as the door swung open and a very angry Wolfram answered the door.

"It's the middle of the night! Who dares knock at this hour?!"

When he saw that it was us, he let out a sigh though the frustrated look on his face was still present, clearly unhappy that we disturbed them this late in the night.

"Oh, it's you three."

"You have my sincerest apologies Mr Wolfram, but we would like Lady Sullivan to examine the Young Master and Jessie right away if possible. It is urgent."

There was the sound of something clanking and cluttering as a familiar bell like voice called out from inside the manor as Wolfram let us inside. The three of us looked up to see something truly magical. Sieglinde was wearing her usual cheerful and mischievous smile but attached to her thighs were 3 pairs of mechanical spider legs made of gleaming silver steel that moved independently of each other, just like a spider's would. It clanked and clinked as she descended the stairs and I found myself in awe.

"What the hell is that!?"

Ciel shrieked in shock as Sieglinde gave him a triumphant grin and gestured down to her invention with pride.

"This is my newest invention which I call Arachne Patousa or more simply, Spider Legs. I can even walk on uneven ground with ease."

"This is amazing Lady Sullivan. I'm super impressed."

The girl blushed at my compliment but before she could reply, Sebastian stepped forward with urgency and I remembered that Ciel and I were potentially in danger.

"My Lady, I think that the Young Master and Jessie may have been drugged. Could you please take a look?"

Immediately, the girl dropped her smile and her eyes widened in shock.

"What? O-Of course! I will check them both right away!"

She rushed up the stairs with us following as she led us down a corridor to a large room. I gaped at the sight of various copper and steel contraptions hanging from the ceiling, large tubes and glass containers filled with strange liquids. The walls were covered in charts and diagrams, one I recognised as the periodic table. I looked over at Ciel and Sebastian, both had a look of complete awe and fascination, which was really rare to see.

"Holy crap!"

"This room…it's completely different to how it was before!"

"Yeah, that old Queen Lady gathered up all of these tools for me. She comes to play with me occasionally. She also brings a lot of cake."

Ciel threw her a look of complete bewilderment, shocked that the Queen would often come to visit the young girl.

"She comes in person?! *sigh* of course she would."

Sieglinde walks over to the cushioned chair in the middle of the room with a mischievous grin and beckons for Ciel to approach.

"Now then, undress and make yourself comfortable. After all, we know each other very well now don't we?"

"Must you say such suggestive things!?"

Regardless of her teasing, Ciel undid his shirt and sat down on the chair, allowing Sieglinde to examine him. She took no time in giving Ciel a thorough inspection, checking out his eyes, tongue, torso, arms and legs for any strange markings. After she didn't see anything out of the ordinary, Sieglinde pulled out an older version of a stethoscope and pressed it to his chest and back, listening to his breathing and pulse. After a few moments, she gave him the all clear. I let out a sigh of relief, glad that he was alright. Then it was my turn. I took off my dress, much to the shock of Wolfram and Ciel who hissed at me as they both turned bright red. Wolfram spun around, facing the door while Ciel covered his eyes. Sebastian was completely unfazed and continued to stare.

"Hey! Don't start undressing without letting us know! Have some decency!"

"Oh sorry Young Master. If it makes you feel any better, I am wearing stuff underneath."

He glowered at me and I shot him an innocent smile. Just like she had done for Ciel, Sieglinde scanned me from head to toe, checking all of my vitals for anything out of place. I was almost expecting her to gasp and notice my sigil but no one, aside from Sebastian and Ciel were able to see it. He did give me a questioning look when he saw it but decided that now wasn't the time.

"Hm, I can't seem to see anything unusual. Does it feel weird anywhere?"

"Other than dizziness and vertigo when we stood up, I don't think so? Young Master?"

The boy shook his head and Sieglinde let out a confused sigh, placing down her stethoscope back onto her work bench.

"I've never heard of a poison with such a delayed effect before…though I suppose it will be different between each person. But seeing as both of you aren't showing any symptoms…I think we can rule out poison. Perhaps the dizziness is caused by anaemia?"

"So what would the needle hole be related to-"

"AH!"

Wolfram's sudden outburst caused me to jump slightly as he came to a sudden realisation, his face brightening up and his eyes wide.

"Perhaps nothing was put in, but something was taken out? Like instead of having something injected in, perhaps blood was collected which resulted in the anaemia?"

"That makes sense. But, why would a music hall be collecting blood? Are they secretly a medical research group or something? It's not like they're trying to create a blood bank…right?"

"A blood bank?"

"Yeah, it's basically a collection of blood from all four blood types which can be stored and used for many different reasons Young Master. For example, for blood transfusions when someone has lost too much blood or if they have some kind of blood disease that requires regular transfusions of blood from healthy donors with the same blood type."

"I didn't know you knew so much Jessie! Even so, the success rate of blood transfusions are extremely low! It's still incomplete science because no one knows the complete conditions required for success."

"Yes, indeed my Lady but for a dying person, if it offers even a small glimpse of hope…they would be willing to do what it takes to live, even if it means trying over and over again. I've seen soldiers and military organisations get involved with these kinds of experiments in order to keep fallen soldiers alive."

Sebastian rubbed his chin speculatively, nodding as he processed all of the information thrown about in the room. I could see the cogs and gears turn inside his head as he was likely coming up with potential conclusions and future plans. Ciel seemed slightly lost but his eyes were filled with intrigue and almost…dread.

"I see…Mr Wolfram and Jessie makes an excellent point. It seems like the participants of Sphere Music Hall are blinded and tricked into giving away their blood."

"Yes, and large amounts of blood samples are required for proper research and reliable data…so gathering large numbers of blood samples from random populations is an absolute must."

"Everything is still speculation but it is now clear that her Majesty's worry is correct and these gatherings are dangerous. Not only that but Elizabeth is there! She could also be in danger."

"What will you do Ciel?"

"We can't just raise a fuss and make such a claim right now. Without any hard evidence, we'd be labelled as fanatics and those at these gatherings will not listen. So in order to open their eyes, we have no choice but to expose all of their wrong doings for all to see. Thank you for your help Lady Sullivan. Let's go Jessie, Sebastian."

I put back on my dress and thanked Sieglinde and Wolfram for their help. The girl seemed a bit upset and disappointed that we couldn't stay for much longer but she knew what we were trying to do and that it was best to let us do what we did best. Sebastian dropped me off back at the manor while the two of them went to the Scotland Yard to discuss their findings with Inspector Abberline, who they loved to tease and call Inspector Underline. They had brought me once to the Scotland Yard, but these law abiding men weren't too pleased to see a woman, much less a maid in their place of work. Inspector Abberline was a decent guy though and he didn't seem to mind me being there, but to avoid drawing too much attention, I wasn't brought along. Soma and Agni were out of the manor on their own business, helping the helpless and poor on the streets of London, so I had been alone for the past hour or so. I was in the kitchen, making myself a cup of tea and mindlessly chewing on some cookies when Sebastian and Ciel returned home. Ciel had gone straight to bed, likely still exhausted from the loss of blood and events of the day.

"Welcome back."

"You are still awake? Are you not tired from losing blood?"

"Kind of, but I was feeling a bit snacky. Join me?"

Sebastian offered me a sly grin as he walked over, almost prowling towards me. I was too tired to care as I sipped on my milk tea.

"Let me see it again."

I raised an eyebrow at Sebastian's request, my dirty mind thinking he wanted to see my body but when I saw his eyes slide over to my arm, I realised he meant the needle hole.

"Jessie…having scandalous thoughts again? Do you crave me that much?"

"Uh…In my defence, you did see my barely covered body an hour ago and don't think I didn't notice you staring at me. In fact, you weren't even trying to hide it. The Young Master and Wolfram at least had some decency to look away."

Sebastian let out a defeated chuckle, the tension in the kitchen slowly ebbing away as I rolled up my sleeve to expose the now bruised area where I had my blood drawn.

"How is it that you knew so much about this?"

"Like I said, I was very well educated and you guys aren't the only ones with advanced tech. I mean take the Germans for example. They had managed to build a tank while you guys hadn't and with Lady Sieglinde's help, they had created various types of poisonous gas. Heck, even Wolfram knew a lot of blood transfusions. You guys are just behind the times."

I joked with a shrug, biting into another cookie as Sebastian sat down beside me, curiosity was now replaced with want and hunger. I placed a cookie into his mouth and watched as he bit down on it, a look of enjoyment flashed across his faced.

"This is my secret stash of cookies that I made for late night snacks. Be grateful that I am sharing."

I pushed the final piece of cookie into his mouth but the demon bit down on my fingers with a teasing stare as I hissed in pain.

"Hey!"

"You taste even more delicious than the cookie. May I take another bite?"

"Hmmm…only since you asked so nicely."

Sebastian's lips grew wider, his eyes flashing red as within in a flash, he pulled my hand towards his mouth and began to lick the crumbs off my fingers. His warm breath tickled the space between my fingers and his rough tongue glided across my fingertips, sending chills along my arms and down my body. I trembled beneath his touch and as my face grew more and more flushed, Sebastian grew more ravenous. Then I was on his lap and his face was pressed against my neck, his long obsidian hair brushed against my face and neck and I could feel his long eyelashes tickle the side of my neck as he bit down. I gasped as a shock of pain raced over my body and I flinched. I grasped onto his shoulders as Sebastian licked up the blood from my bite wound and I could feel him shiver. He then kissed my neck slowly and passionately, making his way over to my lips as I tasted the metallic tang of my blood in my mouth. I moaned as his hands roamed my body, sliding along my back and sent fires burning with every touch. My body was burning now as I felt myself get pulled closer and closer, deeper and deeper into passion and absolutely losing my mind.

But before we took it any further, I stopped him.

"Let's not tonight. My body is still exhausted from that whole blood drawing thing."

Sebastian brushed my hair out of my face and I nuzzled my face into his hand, letting him caress my cheek like a gently lover.

"Let's get you to bed then."

So Sebastian carried me into the servant's room, tucking me into bed and placed a kiss on the back of my hand.

"Good night my lady."

"Night Sebastian."

After that night, Sebastian was too roped up with work and I was still sore enough to avoid engaging in any sexual activity. Agni and Soma were also home more now, so it was hard to do anything scandalous with that many prying ears and eyes. The rest of the week went by peacefully with Sebastian and Ciel doing more research and investigation around the Music Hall. Once the day was done and Ciel was compiling his reports, he had called me in to review them and give my opinion on their findings, hoping that my extensive knowledge into the medical and health field could give him other perspectives.

"Well, there are so many reasons as to why the organisation is collecting such a large amount of blood, but in my opinion, I think one of the main reasons could be that perhaps they have high status clients who likely have illnesses that cannot be cured with current technology such severe anaemia, kidney or liver disease and cancer and instead of leaving it up to law abiding scientists who must follow procedure and ethics which leads to experiments taking longer to obtain results…they'd rather turn to illegal scientists with no regard for human morals and ethics who are willing to do whatever it takes to get results. Or…they could be amassing all of this blood to sell to other organisations and make big bucks."

Ciel nodded in acknowledgement, agreeing with my statement as it was likely that he and Sebastian had come up with the same conclusion.

"Alright, tomorrow we will be visiting Miss Nina again."

"Again? For more clothes?"

"Yes, we ran into her leaving the Music Hall and it seems that she has been in charge of designing and creating the clothes for all of the staff in the music hall."

"Oh! That would make lots of sense. I can see that now. The clothes we wore last Friday had her vibe to it."

Ciel seemed to shudder at the thought but he brushed it off, continuing to explain what had happened when he spoke with Miss Nina the other night.

"She explained that there were four individuals who were above all else who represented each of the 4 stars. No one seems to know their names or who they are but Miss Nina is willing to allow you to accompany her to her next visit to Music Hall."

"And I'm assuming she didn't want Sebastian?"

I turned to face the demon who was smiling his usual signature smile but I could see his eyes flare with annoyance at the mention of Miss Nina rejecting Sebastian. I had to bite the inside of my cheek to stop myself from laughing and digging myself into an early grave. Ciel on the other hand had a look of frustration on his face as obviously, having Sebastian on this mission would be the best option but Miss Nina was extremely adamant that she would not be accompanied by such a drab and boring man.

"No, she did not. So we will be relying on you to infiltrate and find out as much as you can."

I didn't really like the sounds of that, because I was absolutely not the best person to do infiltrative missions. If something went wrong, I would likely struggle to get myself out of whatever pickle I was in while Sebastian would just use his plot armour and demon powers to waltz his way out. Both Ciel and Sebastian must have noticed my look of apprehension because Ciel gave me a reassuring look and assured that Sebastian was going to be on standby outside the hall in case I got into trouble.

"Okay, that does make me feel a bit better but I will take this mission extremely seriously. You can count on me."

"You say that as if you haven't been doing that for all of our investigations."

"Would you yell at me if I said I haven't?"

Ciel let out an exasperated sigh but I could see a hint of a smile on his face and I was for sure growing on him.

"You can go now."

"Alrighty. I'll see the both of you tomorrow morning. Nighty night!"

I turned and walked out of the room but not before I poked my head around the closing door and waved at the young boy. I am definitely growing on him.

The next day, we arrived at Miss Nina's store in the afternoon after chores had been done. As soon as we stepped inside the door, the woman, who was likely expecting us, threw herself onto me, nuzzling me and kissing me all over my face.

"AHH How I've missed you my dear! You are looking absolutely adorable as always!"

"Awww, I've missed you too Miss Nina! A day without seeing you is a dull one."

The woman gushed and slapped my butt bashfully.

"Oh and It's always so lovely to see you again Earl!"

"Likewise Miss Nina."

"Good morning Miss Hopkins."

"Urgh, you're looking dull and boring as usual Butler…"

Sebastian's eyebrow twitched slightly at her comment but he managed to maintain his passive smiling expression as he decided to ignore her quip. Before he managed to talk, Miss Nina walked right passed him and gestured to all of the clothes on a clothing rack that I assumed were for me.

"And as my temporary assistant, you must dress as such. Thus! Meg, Augusta and I have come up with many wonderful designs for you!"

Without wasting any more time, Miss Nina thrust me into the changing room and handed me several outfits to try on. The whole process was just a lot of back and forth arguing between Miss Nina and Sebastian, who was not too happy with some of the exposing outfits. The first was a sheer striped blouse paired with a pair of very tight high waisted black pants that was held up with a pair of cute suspenders. Sebastian and Ciel were not pleased with how see through the top was or how tight the pants were to emphasise my toned and round cheeks. Another was a body forming olive green short sleeved shirt with a squared neckline and a black ribbed vest covered in buckles that acted similarly to a corset. It was paired with a black pencil skirt that was designed to look like a wrap around with a slit along the length of my lower thigh. Again, Sebastian was not too happy with my ankles and legs being put on display, much to Miss Nina and my disappointment. After another 3 or 4 outfits, we finally came across an outfit that everyone was happy with. It was a pastel violet laced blouse with ruffled sleeves and a medium plunging neckline which was paired with a dark beige fishtail skirt that went to about my ankles. The bodice was completed with a black laced corset that pushed my boobs up, almost popping out of the blouse. I actually really liked this outfit but fighting would be a bit hard with how tight the skirt clung to my legs and I couldn't hide my sais to my thighs. It would mean that I could only hide daggers or shuriken in my sleeves, but we were hoping that I wouldn't have to do anything too physical. I stepped out of the clothing room, turning slowly and offering a few simple poses to Sebastian and Miss Nina.

"So?"

Miss Nina beamed, clapping her hands with delight at her beautiful design and how well it had fit me. Meg and Augusta also clapped their hands with approval, though I had never actually seen them smile before.

"Lovely! Splendid! You fit my exact ideal for women's fashion! Oh! You are a marvellous model!"

I genuinely felt shy underneath her stare but when I saw the look Sebastian gave me, I felt my knees tremble.

"This will do."

"Finally! Something Mr Drab is happy with."

Sebastian almost glared a hole into the woman's face, but he kept his composure. I giggled at his expression, earning a hard stare that made me a feel a bit nervous, worried for my life as I knew Sebastian would find some way to get back at me. While Ciel and Miss Nina were discussing something, I turned to look up at Sebastian who was staring at me.

"What?"

"I trust that you will be careful and not get into too much trouble alone."

"Ye of little faith…I got this. I've had a year of training with you guys and this isn't my first undercover mission. Sure I'll be alone, but eh…what's the worst that could happen?"

How I regret saying that. You know, after spending so much time here, I should have known better than to say something so stupid. The day came when Miss Nina would drop off the new costumes for Sphere Music Hall and I sat in the carriage with her, Meg and Augusta. My hands were fidgeting with the ruffles on my sleeve to try to brush off the nerves but the closer we got, the worse my nervousness got. I was wearing the outfit we had picked out the week before and I was now wearing a blond wig that was styled into a shoulder length bob that curled in at the ends and covered my forehead with curled whispy bangs. My makeup was done to completely change the shape of my eyes and lips so that none of the staff would recognise me…just in case.

"Relax my dear. I don't know what my dearest Earl and his butler have sent you here to do, but you will be fine."

"I sure hope so…"

"Now, back straight and let that confidence shine through!"

She slapped me on the back, offering a reassuring and kind smile as we arrived at the hall. Alright, here we go. Let's not fuck this shit up. And then I stepped out of the carriage.
