A soft blue light flashed in the center of a stone platform. Percy appeared as the light faded away, leaving him on a new stone platform. Percy looked around and saw the area he was in had vegetation growing on the dirt surrounding the platform. Percy took a few steps off of the platform and took in the surrounding area. Gray bricks connected to the dirt path ahead of Percy and connected to a large corridor ahead of him.
A light blue hue came from the corridor that appeared ahead of Percy. Small balls of light flew around and started to surround him and gave a slight cooling feeling. Percy took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moment. Once he opened his eyes, Percy saw Rose standing at the front of the corridor with her arms crossed.
"I am pleased to see you made it through the teleporter in one piece. Would have been such a shame if you were to die in between the two locations." Rose teased as Percy approached her.
"What and let you miss out on my presence? Come on Rose, you would miss me already." Percy shot back, a teasing smile lingering in the shadow of his lips.
"Moving on, your objective for this is to go through this dungeon and clear out all of the monsters as fast as you can. Let us see if you're really a demigod as you claimed." Rose smirked.
"Can I point out you were the one who used your magic to force me to tell you? I had hoped to not tell anyone at all." Percy muttered quietly.
"Hmm what was that I heard, did you say you wanted more limitations during this." Rose teased.
"Fine, you're very cruel for a goddess, you know that?" Percy started to walk into the corridor.
"I'll show him when he gets to the end, that boy is in for a rude awakening," Rose said out loud to herself.
Percy continued down the corridor looking around and peering into any openings that would appear on the sides. Percy would see several wooden doors that lay between the walls but when he would approach them. He would see that they were locked or empty inside the room. Walking through the halls with no monsters jumping at him Percy started to wonder if this was testing his patience. The path started to open up the further he got until he came to a room with a large open area. Stone pillars lined the perimeter and some debris from the many years of the dungeon existed in some spots around the room as well.
Percy could make out something further ahead of where he was. A figure that was hard to make out from the distance causing Percy to move left to right in the back of the room. Percy took a focused look at the form and saw a monster he had never seen before. It wore a dark cloak with holes in the clothing and dirt stains on the bottom hem of it. Its white bones filled out the cloak and the complete form of a human skeleton if the human was eight feet tall. Instead of walking like Percy first guessed, this monster was floating instead.
"Okay, Mr. Bones, guess you're my opening act for this show!" Percy shouted as he charged forward and drew his sword. Percy slashed at the skeleton monster but was caught off guard when it only took a little damage from the attack.
"What, how is that possible it should have gone right through the monster!" Percy exclaimed.
The monster tilted its boney head and looked at the demigod with a look of confusion. Then he reached his right arm forward and a small red circle started to form in front of the hand.
'What is it doing now? Wait, is that magic?' Percy thought to himself quickly. As the thought ran through his mind, the skeleton finished its spell and a sudden burst of lighting came from the monster's hand.
Percy dodged to the left and missed the lighting by a hair. With a tight grip on his sword, Percy started his change again at the monster and slashed at it again. This time the monster fell down and watched as Percy slammed his sword down into its head.
Percy took a deep breath before looking back at the monster. "Fuck you're tough for a thing of bones. But not impossible to beat." He muttered before standing up and dusting the bone dust off.
Percy stared at the body for a moment and was about to leave when it started to dissolve into a mass of blue dust.
'Somethings never change, do they?' Percy thought to himself. He turned to face the area the skeleton monster was roaming and saw a hidden doorway behind a pillar.
Percy made his way through the door and came upon a new set of corridors, these ones the same color and look as the ones before. Percy could see a lot better in these ones though. He could see the torches lining the walls and all of them lit and created a large amount of light that showed the whole corridor. Down the corridor there were several monsters. Some of them were weird blueish-green slime slugs. The others were little gray-skinned figures with a sharp point black covering.
Percy raised his arm and started to focus on using his powers. He felt the tug in his gut that he was used to when using his powers, and a ball of water started to form. The ball grew larger, and Percy's eyes widened in surprise. He had never been able to grow a ball that big before without feeling tired after. He should have trained more with powers but swordplay was easier for him than his powers. He was also able to get help for swordplay more than his powers since his father wasn't able to be around. Percy pulled his arm and thrust it back out at a fast speed, which caused the ball of water to shoot out at the monsters. It impacted the slime slugs and washed them away, the other monsters started to grow angry and charged at Percy. One of the Gray skinned monsters took a swipe with the weapon it was holding, which seemed to be a pickaxe. The pickaxe managed to hit Percy and give him a cut on his left arm. Percy growled out in pain and fell to his knees. He swung his sword in response and anger.
The blade caught the neck of the monster and went through it easily. He looked down at the body in surprise, not expecting the blade to cut down that monster so easily. The rest of the gray-skinned monsters took a step back in horror as they watched their friend lose their head. Percy stood to his full height as he glared at the last two monsters and quickly killed them and watched as their body turned into blue dust.
'Damn, I can't think of this as being like a camp. Rose has a reason for doing this the same day I wake up. Probably because I said I'm a demigod, that magic she used forced me to answer her. I got to learn how to throw off being controlled by someone.' Percy thought to himself.
Percy started to make his way back down the corridor again. He kept an eye out for any more monsters. He came upon another open doorway which contained an open room filled with monsters. Pillars stood tall in the room in areas away from the main open floor. Percy saw the room filled with those gray-skinned monsters with pickaxes and a few slime slug monsters. He raised his arm again and was going to attempt to use his powers again when the monsters turned and spotted him. Three of the gray-skinned monsters charged at him and swung their weapons at him. Percy dropped his arm and jumped to the dodge out of the way. He didn't see the slime slugs charging up a magic attack though and was suddenly hit and launched into one of the stone pillars that lined the room. The impact of the stone on his back felt like getting hit by Mrs. O'Leary when she was excited to see him. He wasn't in the best mood already and this didn't help. He stood up and glared at the monsters, the slime slugs' ability to do magic led to him targeting them first. Percy started to walk slowly to the monsters and took a deep breath. He was slipping up for no reason, he fought monsters every day this shouldn't be an issue for him.
Suddenly the Slime Slugs had red circles appear around them and started to glow brightly. Percy's eyes grew as he saw how the magic was cast quickly and a blast of hot wind came rushing by him. Missing his head by a few inches and leaving an impact on the stone behind him. Percy had enough and yelled out in anger and frustration. Running at the monsters, he began to slash wildly at them. Killing the monsters left and right, Percy didn't see he was being watched.
With magic, Rose watched Percy. She made a viewing sphere which allowed her to see how he handled the monsters. Some with ease; the others getting a hit or two on him. She will admit she didn't know what to think when he said he was a demigod. The gods do not interact with this world that much, but Aidios is known to favor selected people. Typically they reside in this world and do not come from another, they would have a reason to protect this world.
"He's strong, Grandmother, but he has so much anger and fights like a wild animal," Emma said over Rose's shoulder.
Rose nodded while she watched the young man make his way through the monsters. Rose purposely filled the dungeon with small-time monsters and a handful of ones that could take a hit. Still, Percy just ripped through them. Monster dust went everywhere and coated him like a second skin.
"He needs to calm down, he still has to fight one powerful opponent," Rose muttered.
"Do you think his story is true, could he really be a Demigod?" Emma asked as she leaned a little closer to the sphere.
"I used my magic in him and forced him to tell the truth and he was telling the truth. It is unfortunate that he hasn't protected his mind. He could have easily broken free and lied to us. He is powerful and would be a great ally to have on our side." Rose focused on Percy as he finished the last monster in the room.
"He made it past the room, are you going to give him the reward Grandmother?" Emma asked.
"Oh yes he will get his reward and he will love it." Rose laughed in a creepy way.
Emma just put her hand to her face and went to grab some herbs to make a healing potion.
Line Break
Percy made his way to a set of large wooden doors. They were giant at least, they looked to be able to handle letting some of the bigger monsters he had faced in. Percy started to push one of the doors, the door scraping along the stone ground, till it finally had enough room for Percy to get into the other side.
Percy looked around the room, he was reminded of a church with how the room was set up. A large smooth walkway that was surrounded by long benches. The pathway led to a few steps that brought a person to an area where someone might have a talk. The back wall had a large stained glass window in the shape of a circle. Deep red curtains with a design of a rose on them sat next to the window.
Percy walked up the pathway and came upon one lone person sitting in a single chair. With a long stick behind the chair.
"Glad to see you make it through the monsters, you went through them quickly. Maybe I should have put harder monsters in here for you." Rose smirked before she smirked. She reached behind her and pulled out a staff from behind the chair.
"You could have but then you wouldn't have seen my powers for a bit. I'm guessing this was to see if I was telling the truth." Percy said as he stood in a relaxed posture.
"Well, I have to say it's definitely a sign you're telling the truth. However, we have one last test to do." Rose started to say before a red aura started to form around her. Her form started to change, her features started to grow. Within a few seconds, an older version of Rose stood in her spot.
"Impressive but I have fought worse than a growth spurt." Percy quipped before getting himself into a battle stance.
"This is all because of you Percy. I haven't used this form in a long time." Rose boasted.
Percy smirked and raised his blade and stared at Rose. Rose stared back before she smiled and sent a small fireball at Percy.
"Oh crap that's hot, I only got one shirt, Rose," Percy yelled as he jumped over the fireball.
"Don't worry I'll burn you away so you won't need a shirt," Rose shouted back.
Percy ran at Rose and sent a quick slash with his sword at her. She dodged his attack and threw a wall of fire in between them. Raising his arm Percy used the water in the air to put out the fire. Rose glared at him before she swung at him with her staff and hit him in the shin. Percy jumped back and grabbed his shin.
"Fuck that hurts, why would you hit someone in the shin with that thing?" Percy yelled in pain and anger.
"Oops, my aim was off, I was going for your head." Rose laughed
Percy growled and raced at her, Rose sent a blast of air at him. Percy took the blast and kept charging. He took a slash with his sword and managed to get a hit on Rose. A small cut appeared on her shoulder and a tear on her sleeve.
Both of them started to breathe heavily as their adrenaline ran through their bodies. After a beat of silence and breathing, Percy brought his arm up. A hall of water started to form and when it was completed he launched it at Rose. Rose was ready for the attack and proceeded to dodge to the left. When Rose looked back to where Percy was standing, she saw Percy had disappeared. Percy appeared next to her, with a thrust his hand out which had a blast of water behind it. Percy's hand pushes the water at Rose who was blasted with a large amount of water.
Rose got sent back and used her staff to steady herself. Rose laughed and stood with a smile on her face. The Window behind her glowed with a deep red that gave the likeness of a red moon. Rose started to spin her staff all while laughing, six red magical circles appeared around her.
"Sorry Percy, this will end this fight. Red Moon Fire!" Rose shouted. The magic circles lit up as huge blasts of fire came out.
Percy tried to summon water to help him but nothing would come fast enough. He raised his arms in front of him in an effort to protect himself as much as possible. The fire hit his arms and started to burn him instantly. Only lasting a second the fire died immediately and left a barely standing Percy in its place. Percy's arms looked terrible and all of his strength was gone. He fell to the ground in pain and was ready to pass out when he started to feel a cool feeling around him.
Looking up, Percy saw Emma and Rose both standing over him. Their hands out as they healed him. He started to feel like he was floating in water, unable to fully move. Percy just accepted what was happening, and lied there and smiled as the pain left.
"You know, no one has been able to withstand that attack before. Most either panic and try to run or they die. Most impressive Percy." Rose had a smile on her face as she looked down.
"Do you believe me now? I think I passed your test." Percy asked.
"Yes you did, the exit platform appeared which means you passed the test according to the magic here.. Now comes the hard part getting you caught up with modern knowledge. You said Aidios told you as much as she could remember but that wasn't up to date. We can get you into the same school Emma will be going to." Rose informed Percy.
"I would like that Rose, it would make my life a lot easier. Fair warning schools and I don't mix that well." Percy said as dark spots started to appear in his vision.
"Rest Percy we will continue this later." Rose commanded.
Percy closed his eyes and fell into unconsciousness on the ground. The two witches looked at the young man.
"Grandmother, what does this mean now?" Emma questioned.
"Now it means we need to get you stronger and might need to come out of hiding earlier than intended." Rose said while she stared at Percy.
"I see, I will bring Percy back to the medical wing then." Emma grabbed Percy and made her way to the exit teleport platform.
Rose followed after waiting a moment and when she made her way into the platform she paused. She thought of where she would like to teleport to and decided on one of her favorite locations.
A short pause and Rose started to fade out into a blue version of herself. Several miles away Rose appeared on a cliff top, this being one of her favorite spots. One could see the village from the top of the cliff and it gives a clear view of the stars at night. Rose walked to the edge of the cliff and looked up at the sky.
"Aidios, what are you playing at? You sent a demigod from another world here." Rose stared at the sky for a moment waiting for some sort of answer.
A soft breeze was the only answer she got. Rose smiled and shook her head and turned back. She teleported back to the village. The cliff stood empty with another breeze running quickly through it.
