Note: Was a bit unsure whether or not to continue this fic for a bit. Wasn't sure if the theme was that liked, but I realized that I probably just had to give it time lmao. I'm usually a Naruto writer, so writing an OC is probably not something everyone is interested in.

So anyhow, we are back, and continuing this. I get why people are skeptical of OC fics, there are a lot of… Interesting approaches out there, that prolly don't suit everyone's tastes. While with someone like Naruto, you kinda know what you're signing up for, I hope that made sense? Lmao.

"Luka, can you hear me alright?"

Luka raised a brow as he felt the mental connection get established. Currently, he was on his way to school, his bag slumped over his shoulder as he walked among the other students that'd arrived around the same time as him, rapidly nearing the gates of Kuoh Academy.

A slow yawn escaped his lips as he nodded, mostly to himself, 'Yeah, I hear you. I think I've got the hang of this.'

He could hear the man chuckle slightly on the other end of the connection, "I apologize, I wish I could've taught you something more useful than mere thought communication."

With a slight grin, Luka put his hands inside his pockets, 'Don't think about it like that. Anything you can teach me in regard to using my gear is going to help. If you hadn't mentioned this, I wouldn't have thought about it. Now I can utilize this with you and potential other spirits in the future.'

"If you say so. I'll let you have peace to deal with your academics, but don't hesitate to call me if something should happen."

The dark-haired boy sweatdropped as an expression consisting of both unease and amusement fell upon his face. As he felt the connection disappear, he sighed to himself and ran a hand through his hair, "What does he think is going to happen? I've gone most of my life without anything like this happening, so I don't see why this day at school would be any different… Well, given yesterday's actions, he might be right." Luka mumbled to himself as he entered the front gate.

The courtyard was filled with people that were scattering to their individual classes, teachers chatting over a smoke by the bathroom stalls, and… Issei's group laughing mockingly at the brown-haired boy,

Luka stopped in his tracks as he blinked at the sight, 'Didn't he get skewered like… last night? I guess the Gremory girl got some tricks of her own, huh.'

"I'm telling youright now! She was literally here and we talked about it, here, I even got her number in my phone still!" Issei shouted as he dragged his phone out of his pocket and held it up, but as the two other boys just stared at him like he was high, he turned his phone and thus his face got really pale.

Issei's brow twitched, "I promise, I could've sworn it was here…"

With what appeared to be a concerned look, Matsuda looked him over, "You sure you're okay? You didn't watch too much porn yesterday or something?"

"Of course I didn't! Ugh… Why don't you believe me?!" He shouted.

Quickly adjusting his glasses, Motohama replied, "Because you're spewing absolute horse shit."

Before Issei could retort, an idea suddenly popped into his head. His gaze flickered around the courtyard until he found the target of his plan, which just happened to be the unfortunate gaze of Luka.

"Trust me, I'm going to clear this up right now." The brown-haired boy claimed as he began marching toward the older student, his two friends following along for the amusement that was about to unfold.

Across the courtyard, Luka sweatdropped as he saw it. The determined look, and how they were pretty much staring him down.

"Alright, time to go." Luka whistled to himself as he turned one-hundred and eighty degrees and began walking in the opposite direction. He'd need to take a detour around the kendo club, but it was probably worth it.

"Wait! I need to talk to you."

The dark-haired boy froze in his tracks as his face lost all colour, 'So close…' He inwardly cried as he turned around with the most polite expression he could muster, "Hm, you say something?"

Issei quickly nodded as the three of them formed a half circle around him, "Yeah, I need you to answer a quick question. It won't take long, I promise."

Fighting the urge to sigh out of frustration, Luka gave a slow nod of his head, "Fine, but make it quick. I got classes, and I don't feel like being late. Detention is a bitch, after all."

"No problem. I've had a girlfriend for a bit now, and I know you've at least met her… Do you remember her?"

Luka stared at them for a hot minute. Before shrugging, "Tall, dark hair, not very fond of clothes. Yeah, I remember."

A sad look appeared on Issei's features, "Why can't you- wait…" He paused, "You remember?!"

The look of pure irritation began to appear as Luka responded, "I was there, remember? She pretty much turned you into a pin cushion."

"Pin cushion? Man, you sure are into some freaky shit… I wonder why we can't remember, did we watch too much of our… premium content, Matsuda?" Motohama asked.

Matsuda shrugged, "Could be? I did almost oversleep today…"

Though what the two perverts didn't notice was how shocked Issei looked at this moment. He thought it'd been a dream, some kind of sick and twisted nightmare, but this guy who he barely talked to… He'd been there, and he remembered. He wasn't crazy!

"I'm sorry senpai, but could you spare a few extra minutes when class is over?"

Luka stared, 'Why me?' He asked himself as he scratched the back of his head, "Fine."

As if sent by heaven, a girl called out from across the courtyard.

"Senpai, could you help me with this? I think I forgot where the classroom is."

Luka immediately turned his head, and breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing the friendly and concerned expression of Yuka. Inwardly crying tears of joy, he did a casual wave and began to jog in her direction.

Slightly slowing down as he reached her, the dark-haired boy nodded his head, "I owe you one…"

Yuka blinked as the two of them began to walk toward their class, "I thought you said you didn't want to get involved with those freaks?"

"I don't… I got ambushed."

The girl patted him on the back, "Had to be traumatic…"

The foreigner nodded, "If hearing about how much porn they watch is traumatic, then yes, please sign me up for therapy sessions."

"Is he still claiming he got a girlfriend?" Yuka asked next.

Luka shrugged, "Yeah, his friends seem to have forgotten. Pretty weird, don't know if they're pulling a prank on him or something."

The shorter girl let out a hum as she brushed her blonde locks behind her ear, "I mean… She did show up here, right? Don't know if it was just someone he paid to act the part of being his girlfriend, but she was here. Don't know why they can't remember her…"

As she answered him, Luka stared into her amber eyes for a second, "Yeah…"

Yuka shrugged, "Well, maybe they're just stupid. Wouldn't be the first time they act without thinking or something along those lines. Bet they'd forget their own name unless they wrote it in the palm of their hand."

Chuckling at her antics, Luka was about to respond when a question popped into his head.

If no one remembered Issei's 'girlfriend' then, why did Yuka?

Well, so far he only knew that Issei's friends forgot about her. But the way he was acting, was as if they weren't the first ones to tell him about it.

Something felt fishy about all of this, and he had a suspicion… Though he'd need to consult someone with more knowledge in this field before taking any action in this matter.

"Uh… You remember the way to the classroom, right?"

Yuka blinked in surprise before she burst out in a fit of giggles, "Oh yeah, I just pretended that I didn't, to save you. Remember, you still owe me one now."

"I got it. I got to use the restroom before class starts, so you can go ahead." Luka smiled.

With a soft nod of her head, she began walking ahead of him.

As she turned the corner in the hallway, the smile withered from his face as he quickly made his way toward the bathroom. Entering one of the stalls, he stood up on the toilet and looked over the separating walls to make sure he was indeed alone.

'Diarmuid… A word?'

Not wasting a second, the tall spearman appeared before him. As if he had faded into existence, the man looked around, "Odd place to meet…"

"Well it was the most private I could think of." Luka responded.

Diarmuid nodded, "You needed something?"

Luka nodded, "If I'd need you to look into someone for me, would you do it?"

"Of course." The man replied without a moment of hesitation. Though it was clear to see that the man was curious.

With a sigh, Luka leaned in against the wall and crossed his arms, "Something shady is going on."

The spearman looked sceptical, "Something, or someone?"

"Both." Luka replied as he crossed his arms over his chest, "No one can remember that fallen angel chick aside Issei."

Diarmuid hummed, "The supernatural world is known for potentially making sure that normal human beings are unaware of their presence. Not everyone is as acceptable as you were, so sometimes races such as the devils and fallen angels use their power to do spells that'd make people forget about any supernatural occurrence they might've experienced recently."

With a hum, Luka replied, "I assume it'd be Rias. You said she was there, and her number is gone from his phone. Though, given Issei was in the center of it all, I assume he remembers because of that. Or maybe it's something I've overseen. If someone else were to remember, what'd you think of it?"

"Either that they did a less than a thorough job, or someone else is able to resist that kind of spell…" Diarmuid replied back thoughtfully.

"There is a girl in my class, Yuka, I never thought much about it before. She is… nice, works hard, stuff like that. She, however, remembers. And not just snippets, she remembers all of it." Luka clarified.

Nodding his head in understanding, Diarmuid answered, "So you're concerned with whether or not she too is aware of the supernatural?"

Luka snapped his fingers, "That, or she is some kind of race herself. The devils look pretty human, I never suspected anything of Gremory before since she looks relatively normal."

"You want me to look into her for you?" Diarmuid offered.

The dark-haired boy smiled with an awkward chuckle, "Well, it's going to be awkward if nothing is wrong, but on the other hand… If it's common knowledge that the devils do something like this, tampering with memories I mean, then there is a chance she is suspicious of me too."

Diarmuid cupped his chin, "Valid reason for caution. She'd be suspicious of you because you remember, and you're the same because she remembers. Very well, I'll keep an eye on her. Don't worry, I'll intervene if she reveals herself to be an enemy."

Smiling gratefully, Luka sighed, "Alright, that's all. Make sure to stay out of view and all that, not sure how you do that fade thing… But it seems to be working fine."

The man smirked, "Understood, I'll be ready to respond to any further summonings too. Just give the word." He replied before speaking again , "Though there is one thing I'd like to say, if I may speak freely?"

"Of course." Luka replied with a curious look.

Diarmuid crossed his arms over his chest, "There is the chance she is a supernatural being. There is also a chance that she isn't. Given that I'm a spirit manifested by your Throne of Heroes, I can quite easily sense the mana within people. However, you need to remember, even if your classmate might have some… It doesn't make her guilty right away."

Luka blinked slowly as he let it settle in his head, "Never said it did."

The man nodded, "I know that, but she could be like you. A sacred gear user, who just doesn't know she is gifted yet. Either that or she could be a devil, fallen, or a third race. I just wanted to make sure we're going to be smart and careful about this, revealing too little or too much without being sure, could have dire consequences."

"Feels like you're referring to more than just Yuka here." Luka pointed out.

Once again, Diarmuid smirked again, "Perceptive as always I see. You're correct. It's almost without a shadow of doubt that I say this, Rias Gremory is going to seek you out. Being so casual here, must mean we're in their territory. And with the show yesterday, she is bound to have questions."

Luka cupped his chin thoughtfully, "So like in a game of cards, we don't reveal our hand until we have to or it benefits us."

"That'd be correct."

The younger man chuckled, "I understand, I'll make sure to be careful."

As Diarmuid faded away, and without having any further business in the bathroom, Luka exited the bathroom and made his way back to class. Sending a quick glance toward Yuka, who nodded a greeting to him.

Despite how suspicious it all seemed, he wasn't going to be showing that or any hostility until something was solidified.

So he took a seat, and simply settled in for the lecture at hand. Occasionally sneaking a glance to spot if something was out of the ordinary, but as far as he could tell, it just seemed like another normal day at school.

Well, not that anything was normal about this school anymore. Apparently there were devils and maybe even fallen angels for all he knew, so he'd have to be careful.

But as long as he kept his head down and didn't act out of the ordinary, he should be just fine.

Now he just had to have a conversation with Issei, much to his dismay, and potentially seek out Rias… She knew he'd been there last night, so trying to avoid her would be a bad plan.

If the Gremory was indeed an entire household, he should be safe to assume that she wasn't alone.

And while he was confident in Diarmuid's ability to fight, it wouldn't be fair to put him against seemingly impossible odds in case there was something like a dozen of them hiding in plain sight.

Well, he'd have to wait and see.

By the time break came around, Luka was already tired. He normally wasn't like this. He could on a normal day be fine until the classes later in the day, but he was already quite exhausted.

Without being too sure whether or not it was true, he blamed it on the amount of mana he'd used yesterday. Diarmuid did warn him not to push himself too much, given that he had indeed passed out from awakening the Throne to summon for the first time in a rather unorthodox manner.

The scraping of pencils against paper and the occasional click of a pen was starting to drive him nuts. The sounds of pages turning, and the frustrated grunts of students whose headaches were starting to show, it was like a knife in the back of his head.

When the bell finally rang, he almost couldn't stop himself from flipping his desk over, but with a tad bit of self-control, the dark-haired boy shoved his belongings into his bag and walked out of the classroom.

'Okay, I know I promised Issei a talk… Fuck that, I'm going to see Gremory. I don't feel like watching him cry about getting tricked and then stabbed… And stabbed again. How many times was he stabbed anyway?' Luka wondered to himself as he skipped down the stairs.

Opening the doors to the open space behind the school, he let himself a deep breath of fresh air before looking at the old school building. It was now the club space for the Occult Research Club, which just happened to be where Rias was currently president.

And given how they were always in there, he'd almost bet a testicle on all of them being devils. It'd make sense, pretty smart too, to disguise your activities with the front of a school club.

Make it look like you're working hard while in reality, you're working on something that'd go in your own favor.

Pretty smart move, he'd have to note that down somewhere.

As he reached the front of the building, he didn't give it much thought before he opened the front door and waltzed in. His footsteps echoing through the almost empty hallways as he made his way toward the only place he could hear voices.

Though as he got closer to the door, Luka spotted a young blond man leaning in against the wall. 'Isn't that Kiba? Well damn, never figured goody two shoes to be a devil, well, I assume he is. Why else would he be here?'

Shrugging to himself, he raised his hand in a casual wave, "Yo."

"Hey…" The boy mumbled, before it looked like something clicked in his head, "Huh, now wait a second!"

Luka didn't pay him much more attention as he neared a pair of double doors, "They're in here, right?"

With a surprised look, the blond jogged up behind him, "Hold on, you can't just barge in there like that."

"Of course I can." The dark-haired boy chuckled mischievously, "Doesn't really feel like you're trying to stop me either."

Kiba grimaced as he watched him just casually enter the main room of the building, "That doesn't mean you can just go wherever you like, this is a clubroom. Only members of the ORC is allowed to go in there, this is pretty much trespassing."

With a deadpan expression, Luka ignored all the curious eyes on him, "Oh come on, we all know this is just a facade. Hey Gremory, can I have a word?"

Looking absolutely defeated, Kiba just sighed and entered the room as well. Walking up behind one of the couches, "Sorry, I tried to stop him."

"It's okay Kiba, I wanted to talk to him."

Turning his attention to the room, Luka took in the surroundings. The furniture looked pretty antique, two couches and a table in the middle, along with a desk at the back of the room where the red-haired young woman was currently sitting and eyeing him with those blue-green eyes of hers.

Beside her, stood another young woman with a voluptuous figure, very long black hair, and violet eyes, 'Himejima, huh? Should've expected as much.' The dark-haired boy thought to himself.

On the couch on the left, he was surprised to spot the school mascot. She had her usual blank expression on her face, though he'd assume the look in her eyes meant something along the lines of amusement.

The Gremory chuckled a bit as she stood up from her seat, "I have to admit that I'm surprised to see you here, but I'm also grateful. Spares me the trouble of hunting you down myself after all."

Luka crossed his arms over his chest at that, "Glad to make your life easier."

"So what can I do for you?" She asked next as she leaned in against the desk.

Looking around the room, Luka pointed at her, "Well, I'm not much for dancing around the elephant in the room. You're a devil, he is a devil, and those two are devils as well. Am I right or wrong?"

Rias looked slightly surprised, but nodded slowly, "Good guess, what'd you have done if you were wrong though?"

Luka shrugged, "I've been told you got tricks to alter memories, figured it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to be blunt about why we're here."

"You're the one that helped the pervert, right?" Koneko asked next.

Shaking his head with a thoughtful expression, Luka turned to face her, "Not really, I just happened to walk into him getting murked by some fallen angel chick that was pretty much naked."

With a tilt of her head, Akeno put a hand on her hip, "Excuse me for joining in without an invite, but I have to ask… How did you know she is a fallen angel?"

"I was told as much," Luka responded simply.

Akeno blinked in surprise, "By who?"

Luka sighed, "Since we're all probably on the same page." He started as he raised his right hand and showed them the backside and thus the red symbol he was wearing. Channeling what little mana he was currently capable of, the mark began to glow before Diarmuid faded into existence beside him.

Immediately on guard, the devils, aside from Rias, began to move closer together as they eyed him suspiciously, "Easy, I'm not here to make any trouble. I hear that the two of you met, figured it would make this easier." Luka voiced out as he pointed between Rias and Diarmuid with his thumb.

The crimson-haired beauty nodded, "We have the pleasantry of a brief encounter, that's true. Though I'd advise you against summoning someone that casually in the future, while I had no reason to believe you were hostile, others might not be the same and thus look at you as a threat."

"You don't see me as a threat?" Luka questioned with amusement.

Rias chuckled, "It's not that. You already said you wanted to talk, and given that your friend wasn't hostile to me last night either, I have no reason to believe you come with bad intentions. I decided you'd deserve the benefit of the doubt."

"Generous of you. Appreciate it," Luka chuckled in response, "Well since we're being… Friendly, so far at least. What do you know about this?" He asked, casting a glance at the mark on his hand.

She hummed thoughtfully, "First of all, were you aware of anything supernatural or magical prior to last night?"

"Not in the slightest."

With a look of surprise, she looked a tad bit impressed, "Yet you managed to summon a servant, and are still maintaining his presence here. I have to admit that is very impressive for a complete newbie."

Luka raised a brow as he lowered his hand, "You know how it works?"

Rias shrugged a bit as she pushed herself off the desk and waltzed toward him, and reached down to grasp onto his wrist, and raised his hand, "I know what it is at least. It's a really rare gift you've gotten, hmm, Throne of Heroes, correct?"

Taking a quick look at Diarmuid, who nodded, Luka turned back, "That's the one. So, tell me, what do you know about it?"

She hummed a bit as she let go of his wrist, "Not much to say, as far as I know, it has only appeared once before in history. And that was a long time ago. It's one of the Longinus, capable of summoning heroes from the past. And I assume that is where your friend is from?"

"Oh, yeah, meet Diarmuid. He saved my ass." Luka deadpanned.

The man looked utterly amused, as he just greeted them with a nod.

"I remember. So, I suppose we have a lot to talk about. Though I'm surprised, I never expected there to be two sacred gears here. One of them, a Longinus."

'Two?' Luka thought to himself before his expression turned blank, "Please don't tell me the other one is the pervert?"

With clear amusement in her voice, Rias chuckled, "That's the one. I'm not quite sure which one, though it'd make sense why the fallen angels are suddenly interested. Can't say I appreciate them invading the territory of my house."

"I can understand that," Luka commented.

Rias nodded, "Now, I have an offer for you. Would you care to join me for a game while we discuss it?" She asked and gestured toward the coffee table between the couches, and the chess board in the middle.

Staring curiously at the board, Luka nodded, "Sure, why not." He responded as he took a seat on the couch opposite of Rias who'd sat down beside Koneko.

As he did, Diarmuid took a stand behind the couch behind him. Probably for the sake of keeping him safe in case the discussion were going to turn sour. The man was more than aware that the devils were most likely confident because they were on their home turf.

And having a confident front would make them appear stronger. So while they'd seemed relaxed with Luka barging in pretty non-caringly if he were to admit it, they probably weren't that relaxed.

It seemed like the Gremory girl wanted something from him, so he figured that was the reason behind the so far friendly exchange.

For now he'd watch, but he wasn't going to let his guard down. Being the second summoner in history, he did have quite the responsibility on his shoulders in regard to making sure he was kept safe until he learnt more about protecting himself.

Being a wielder of a Longinus automatically made him a target of interest, both hostile and friendly, at least he seemed cautious enough.

The whole suspicion thing with Yuka had proved as much, but in events such as this one, seemed to have a careless approach.

Perhaps he'd have to talk to him about that later.

As the game began, Luka moved one of his pawns two spaces up, "So what is your offer?"

Rias did her counter move, and responded, "Do you know how devils operate?"

As the game began taking place, Luka rested his head in the palm of his hand, "I know you got households, that's about it."

"Hmm, depending on what age Diarmuid is from… I assume that's why you haven't been told more. Oh well, allow me to clarify." She paused and moved out her knight, "There was a lot of war, a long time ago. A great war between the three factions. The devils, fallen angels, and the angels. After that war was over, some time later, a civil war broke out in the Underworld. Let's just say it reshaped our society, but also left us rather undermanned."

Luka hummed thoughtfully as he moved his bishop up toward the middle of the board, "That's… sad, though I don't get what that has to do with me."

Rias chuckled, "I was getting to that." She paused before continuing with another of her pieces, "To regain our numbers, there was a system implemented. Devils classified as High-Class, are given a peerage set, also known as the evil pieces. Despite the name, it's not exactly that malicious. It allows the devil to reincarnate other races into a devil, and thus they'd be a part of their household."

"So let me guess, you want to offer me an… Evil piece?" Luka asked.

The redhead smirked, "You're indeed quite clever, I guess your grades aren't just for show?"

Luka shrugged, "It's simple logic. I'm a human, I got an ability that is pretty strong, it makes sense. Though what I don't get is why you're asking. Not to sound stereotypical, but the holy books don't portray devils and demons as beings that ask for permission."

"As I said, our society was reshaped. House Gremory for one, treats their servants like family. We take pride in that fact. The pieces work like these chess pieces, someone reincarnated with a knight piece, will gain attributes suiting those of a knight. And thus will continue to grow in tune with their master." She explained.

The young man raised his head with a calculative stare, "So, you aren't going to force me?"

Rias shook her head, "I can't force you, since you theoretically reject the evil piece. It's different with someone that's recently deceased, those are not able to reject it, however, it does give them a second chance at life."

Luka let out a laugh, "Let me guess, Hyoudou is a devil now."

"I'm surprised you figured that out so quickly." Rias responded with amusement.

"I saw him get killed, and now he is fine. Though, it doesn't seem like he knows himself." Luka replied.

Rias shook her head again, "He doesn't. I wanted to see if the fallen angels would make a move again, and potentially get more clarity in regard to what sacred gear he is carrying."

Raising a brow, Luka moved his queen onto the board, "Live bait, huh?"

"Not really, we're keeping an eye out of course. He is my servant now, and thus my responsibility. And I take care of my own. Aside from the protection, you also get… buffs, in essence. Comradery, ability to learn, I'd say it's quite a good offer."

Luka snorted, "Well, a merchant always got to blow their product out of proportion to seem like the ideal choice on the market. So I'd be surprised if you'd said it was too much of a gamble after presenting it as an offer."

She smiled a bit at that, "Well, if we're on the same page. What do you say? To summarize. You'd become a devil, a significantly longer life span, you'd gain our traits and strengths. An increase to your pool of magic, the ability to learn more about magic and your sacred gear, and also protection from the fallen angels should they decide to fight you after the incident yesterday."

Luka remained silent for a bit as he looked down at the board in front of him. Tapping his fingers against the wooden table, before moving his knight piece, "I decline." He responded, and stood up.

Looking surprised, Rias looked up at him, "You decline?"

"As much as the deal would be in favor of a lot of people, it's not for me. I can't shake the feeling of it being glorified slavery. I'd be bonded to you, and you use terms such as servant and master. I may sound hypocritical given that Diarmuid is in theory my servant, but neither he nor I chose this as far as I know. And thus, I'm not going to force anyone to fight for me if they don't want to." Luka replied simply.

Rias stared him right in the eyes, "What about the fallen angels? I can't guarantee there'll be an escape the next time."

Luka chuckled, "I got Diarmuid protecting me. Not sure why he seems so fine with this, but I guess there has to be a reason he is part of the Throne of Heroes. As long as he doesn't change his opinion, I'll depend on him. Plus, I like to think of this as a partnership."

As those words left his mouth, the corner of the spearman's mouth twitched upward slightly into a smile, "As stated before, you can count on me."

"What he said." Luka continued, "I don't mean to be impolite, or rude for that matter. The deal just doesn't sound like it'd be a good fit for me at any given time."

Rias sighed, "At least finish the game with me, I might be able to change your mind."

"Oh no, the game is over."

Looking shocked, Rias crossed her arms under her generously sized chest, "And what do you mean by that?"

Shrugging defensively, Luka just nodded toward the board.

"Nothing really, it's just checkmate. I win."

And that's a wrap. A lot of talking in this chapter, I realize that, but given that Luka was a human there was obviously a lot of explanation to get out of the way before he could really wander more into the whole supernatural theme.

Anyhow, I hope that you liked it. Let me know what you think.
