'Oh man, I'm so nervous... my first pokémon battle is against an experienced trainer and I'm using a Pokemon I've just barely met... I'm at a serious disadvantage as I don't have the experience or skills necessary to command Sprigatito properly.' thought Lincoln as he headed down to the beach to face Nemona in his first ever Pokemon battle.
Lincoln knew he was at a huge disadvantage as...
One) Nemona is a more experienced Pokemon trainer.
Two) She's the student council president so it must mean she's a strong trainer to be able to be respected by everyone.
Three) This is Lincoln's first ever Pokemon battle!
'Oh...No, I can't appear to be weak as that would disrespect her and my Pokemon. I got to give it my all and show them that I know what I'm doing otherwise I'll never earn the respect of my fellow classmates. If I can earn Nemona's respect... that will go a long way to me earning the respect of my fellow classmates.' thought Lincoln, who knew that he needed to become better prepared if he ever wanted to thrive in Naranja Academy.
And one of the first steps to become better prepared was to gain some friends at the Academy who can help them out with things like homework and keeping up with classes. And being friends with the student council president was certainly a big bonus as he had no doubt Nemona was smart, as they don't let idiots be the student council president.
Meaning earning her respect and being her friend was a big bonus for him! Plus, it wouldn't hurt to get close to her considering how beautiful she is...wait, did he just think that?
'Control yourself Lincoln! Focus at the Battle of hand!' thought Lincoln as he began making his way to the beach so he could face Nemona with Sprigatito!
"Lincoln! Over here!"shouted Nemona as soon as she spotted Lincoln.
This made Lincoln turned to see Nemona, who was waiting for him in a large battlefield that was conveniently on the beach...
"Huh, just how rich is her family has that battlefield looks like it's made out of the finest materials money can buy."whispered Lincoln to himself as he made his way over to Nemona, has he really wanted to know what the battlefield cost was.
After all, when you grow up in a family with so many people money is tight so to see someone spend money like it's no problem with cause for jealousy. But that wasn't important right now for Lincoln as he had to focus on the battle at hand that was about to begin!
"Great! You made it! Hmm... now which Pokemon should I use against you?"said Nemona to herself as she began to ponder on which of her partners she should send out to face her new friend Lincoln.
"Please wait a moment, Miss Nemona."said Mr Clavell, who had followed Lincoln down to the beach and made his way over to his two students.
Mr Clavell then adjusted his glasses before he continued."Master Lincoln is just starting out as a Pokemon trainer where you have already have plenty of experience. So I suggest you use your new partner as that's the only way you'll be able to fight Lincoln on a fair playing field."
Nemona appear to ponder on this before she smiles ,and responds."Okay, I guess that makes sense as it's only fair that I take on a newbie with a Pokemon I'm not familiar with. That's the only way this battle will be fair and square as I can't use my usual partners."
"Phew..."said Lincoln as he did not want to face a super strong Pokemon right off the bat on his first day!
As he could only imagine how strong Nemona's regular Pokemon are in facing them right now would be a bad idea as there's no way Sprigatito would be able to face them in a battle! After all, they were amateurs at best and that was a very generous compliment in their books.
"Okay Lincoln, it's time for battle. I'll use Quaxly, while you use Sprigatito!"said Nemona with a smile on her face, and Lincoln could immediately tell that she was getting fired up as she was giving off a Lynn vibe.
"Okay, let's take our positions on the field."said Lincoln, who felt like the only way he was going to ever get a chance to Nemona was to face the Pokemon she had just barely acquired just a few minutes ago.
Only by beating her will he earn her respect and hopefully earn the respect of his fellow peers! As Lincoln new how important respect was in a school system as despite what people will say there's always a hierarchy system within a school and the better you are, the higher you are on that hierarchy!
"I walked as the referee for you too so take your positions and get ready for battle."said Mr Clavell, causing both of his students to quickly take their positions on the field with Nemona taking the right side of the field while Lincoln took the left side of the field.
"Now bring out your Pokemon and let the battle begin!"instructed Mr Clavell, causing both students to quickly pull out their pokeballs!
"I don't know how to throw but I'll do my best!"said Lincoln as he pulled out the pokeball containing his partner Pokemon."Sprigatito, I choose you!"
And as soon as Lincoln said that he threw the ball as best he could and sure enough the bowl was thrown in mid-air before it opened up and released the grass cat Pokemon for battle.
"Sprig!"said the grass cat Pokemon as he was ready for battle!
"Quaxly, I choose you!"exclaimed Nemona, as like Lincoln she had a hard time throwing her pokeball and had to do a much different swing than a normal throw in order to throw her pokeball properly.
"Huh?"said Lincoln as he was honestly confused by the display she was doing as Quaxly appeared on the battlefield.
"Sorry... despite being the student council president I'm not exactly good when it comes to pokeball throws."said Nemona with a blush on her face."That's why I wear this arm brace, so I can better throw a pokeball."
"Quax..."said the duckling Pokemon as it was clear that his trainer was a bit of a goofball.
"Phew... thank goodness you're more normal than I thought."said Lincoln, as he was glad he was dealing with someone who is just as bad at throwing as he is.
Nemona meanwhile stop smiling and just face Lincoln with a determined look on her eyes. And it was in that moment that Lincoln felt a change in her personality as it felt like she was a completely different person than the person she was before. It was like some kind of switch went off in her head and now he was facing a different Nemona!
"Well let's get this battle started! You will have the first move!"said Nemona, as Lincoln completely hear the passion in her voice as it was clear to him that she really, really liked Pokemon battling!
"Okay then..."said Lincoln as he tried to remember what moves Sprigatito knew."Sprigatito, use leafage!"
This made the grass cat Pokemon let out a growl before green leaves formed around its body. Then Sprigatito launched said glowing green leaves at the duckling Pokemon!
"Dodge it!"ordered Nemona, causing the duckling pokémon to quickly jump into the air and avoid getting struck with leafage.
"Use scratch!"ordered Lincoln as soon as he saw an opening.
As Quaxly weren't known to be flyers like other bird like Pokemon as a technically wasn't a flying type Pokemon... it was a pure water type Pokemon!
Meaning that while I can learn flying type moves because of its avian appearance... it doesn't mean it can exactly fly!
Sprigatito knew this as well as he quickly closed the distance between him and his rival and quickly scratched Quaxly, causing damage to the duckling Pokemon!
Quaxly was pushed back by the attack and it certainly felt the damage from that attack as he took a critical hit from the scratch attack!
"Wow, a critical hit on your first try! Man Lincoln, I can tell you already have talent for Pokemon battling."said Nemona, who was giving a compliment.
"Thanks Nemona. Hearing that from the student council president really means a lot to me."said Lincoln as he never expected someone he just barely meet to compliment him like that.
He didn't know why but it felt good to hear that from Nemona, despite the fact he just barely met her...?
"Now let's see how you handle this! Use wing attack!"ordered Nemona, causing the duckling Pokemon to quickly make his wings start glowing before he began waddling at a fast pace towards Sprigatito!
'Oh no, that's a flying type move! If I don't do something quick then Sprigatito is going to take a lot of damage!' thought Lincoln as he looked around to see if he could do anything to stop the flying type move from striking his grass cat Pokemon!
That is when an idea popped in his head and he knew it was risky but it was probably his only hope and not getting wiped out in one hit!
"Use leafage around yourself!"ordered Lincoln, causing the grass cat Pokemon to look back at him.
Sprigatito was confused as to why his trainer was giving such a command until he saw the look in Lincoln's eye and quickly understood what was happening! As for some reason he could feel what his trainer was suggesting any quickly knew that this was his only chance to avoid getting hit with the super effective flying type move!
So Sprigatito did as he was commanded and created a leafage around his body.
"Now use leafage again and again!"ordered Lincoln, causing the grass cat Pokemon to create more glowing leaves around its body.
"I don't know what you're up to but that won't work!"said Nemona, just as her Pokemon had closed the distance and was about to strike Sprigatito!
"Now disperse the leaves!"ordered Lincoln, causing the grass cat Pokemon to quickly disperse the leaves.
This caused the green glowing leaves of leafage to spread around in all directions which struck Quaxly, causing super effective damage to the duckling Pokemon as a try to look for Sprigatito, only to see that the grass cat Pokemon was no longer where he was originally standing.
"What?!"said Nemona with shock, as she tried to find the grass cat Pokemon but the leaves that were falling down made it difficult.
"Now use bite!"ordered Lincoln, revealing that in all the confusion the grass cat Pokemon had gotten behind the duckling Pokemon!
Quaxly quickly turned around but it was too late as he was bit in the wing with bite attack, causing the duckling Pokemon to flinch!
"Oh no!"said Nemona, realizing that there was now an opening to attack.
"Use leafage!"ordered Lincoln, causing Sprigatito to fire a barrage of glowing green leaves at the duckling Pokemon.
This time leafage successfully struck the duckling Pokemon and cause super effective damage as Quaxly was not to his trainer side of the field, where upon landing it was revealed that he had been knocked out!
"Quaxly!"said Nemona, upon realizing that her new Pokemon had been knocked out.
"Quaxly is unable to battle! Meaning the victory goes to Lincoln and Sprigatito!"declared Mr Clavell, living up to his role as referee as Nemona recalled the duckling Pokemon back to his pokeball.
"You fought a great battle and despite the fact we barely just, I know for a fact that you and I are going to grow stronger together as I have a feeling we just found a worthy rival."said Nemona, as instead of being angry she actually had a smile on her face.
As for The first time in forever someone had actually beaten her in a Pokemon battle and that actually made her happy as now she found a rival in the form of Lincoln Loud!
"I won?...I...won...I WON! We won, Sprigatito!"said Lincoln as the grass cat pokémon jumped into his arms as he began to spin around his starter Pokemon with joy.
As not only did he win his first Pokemon battle but it was against the student council president of Naranja Academy. This will surely getting him respect at the school as soon as the news spreads to the school!
"I'm amazed you were able to come up with such an unorthodox strategy mid battle! You are certainly an interesting Pokemon trainer Lincoln loud and I have a feeling you and I are going to be great rivals!"said Nemona has she walked towards Lincoln before extending a hand of friendship.
"And hopefully more than that in the future."said Lincoln under his breath, so that the girl in front of him wouldn't hear him.
"What was that?"questions Nemona, wanting to know what Lincoln just said.
"Nothing! Anyway I look forward to seeing you in class, fellow classmate!"said Lincoln as she shook Nemona's hand.
"Yeah, and don't worry I'll show you the ropes."said Nemona, who look forward to being in class with Lincoln as it wasn't every day that she found someone who could actually give her a run for her money!
"Well how about you two begin making your way to school as I still have business with your parents, Miss Nemona."said Mr Clavell, before he walked away Fuecoco not too far behind him.
"Wow, Mr Clavell it certainly someone who really dedicates himself to his job."said Lincoln, as this guy in his old principal, Wilbur Huggins would probably get along with one another.
"Yeah, and I think one of the reasons he works for hard is because he only became director recently."said Nemona, surprising Lincoln as he looked at her.
"He only became the director recently?"questions Lincoln as he wanted to know why.
"Mr Clavell only became the director after the previous director stepped down for unknown reasons. I don't know the details all I know is it involved some incident with a group calling themselves Team Star."said Nemona, as even as student council president she wasn't privy to all the information that was around Naranja Academy.
"Wow, I guess even the student council president is kept in the dark sometimes."said Lincoln has both of them began leaving the estate.
"You have no idea how frustrating that is as I feel like I could do more as student council president if I was allowed to have more information on the incident."said Nemona, just as Lincoln and her walk past the gate that protected her home.
"You should probably lock that gate next time as you don't want any Intruders coming in."said Lincoln, pointing out that the reason he got in the first place was because the gate was opened.
"Oh, you didn't worry about that as my family has a top-notch security system in the house so no one can break in. And even then, Mama and Papa are super strong Pokemon trainers so people will think twice when messing with them."stated Nemona, something that didn't surprise Lincoln in a slightest as it made sense that a super strong trainer like Nemona would have super strong pokémon trainers for parents!
"Why don't we make our way over to the Watchtower that looks over Los Platos. From there we can make our way to Mesagoza in no time."said Nemona, suggesting that they take an evening stroll.
"I have no problem with that."said Lincoln, as not only did he want to see more of Paldea, but he would spend more time with Nemona, so it was a win-win situation for him at the end of the day and that's what he really wanted!
"Well then, let's go explore and see what we can find on our way to school!"said Nemona as she grabbed Lincoln's hand and began pulling him with her down Poco Path.
"Nemona, not so hard."said Lincoln as he was blushing the whole time as it wasn't every day that a pretty girl would hold his hand like that.
This caused Nemona to quickly see what she was doing and she quickly let go of Lincoln before a blush appeared on her face as well.
"Sorry, I tend to get over excited at times and I don't see what I'm doing."said Nemona, causing an awkward awkwardness between the two of them as they were blushing in fidgeting.
"Lincoln, before I forget here have some pokeballs so you can capture some new Pokemon."said Nemona, before she gave Lincoln some pokeballs to break the silence."I have tons of them so I have no problem giving you a few."
"Thanks Nemona."said Lincoln, causing both of them to let out a side relief as this conversation broke any awkwardness the two of them felt for one another.
"Well, why don't we try to find some Pokemon for you to add your team."said Nemona, as she felt like Lincoln needed to expand his team if you wanted to get stronger.
But before Lincoln could respond a large growl was Heard somewhere close by!
"What was that?!"questions Lincoln as that was the loudest growl he has ever heard in his life that's not even Lynn and Lola make growls that big!
"I don't know! I've never heard of pokémon make that grow before! Maybe it's I'm super strong pokémon that no one has ever seen before!"suggested Nemona, as that was the only explanation she could come up with."Let's split up and try to find the source of that noise."
"I guess you have a point as it could be hurt."said Lincoln, as he felt like whatever was making that noise sounded to be hurt.
And Lincoln in good conscience could not allow such a poor creature to be in such a poor condition and walk away like nothing happened... how is a decent human being was he supposed to live with himself knowing that he could have the choice of walking away and that's the last thing he wanted!
"Well you go check out the cliffs while I go check out the nearby tall grass!"said Nemona, causing both trainers to quickly split up with one another as they wanted to see what was making the source of that noise!
Only what neither of them knew was that by searching for what was making that noise, would Lincoln be set on a path that he would never have expected to be set on as his being a student in Naranja Academy we're only just beginning!
[After having an intense first battle with his friend and rival, Nemona, Lincoln comes out of it Victoria's after coming up with a last-minute strategy to use leafage as a makeshift shield. Now Lincoln and Nemona search for a mysterious Pokemon that made a strange cry on their way to school. Will Lincoln and Nemona be able to find this mysterious Pokemon? Only time will tell us the journey continues]
