What am I doing with my life?
Guest: Nah I borrowed some of those ideas from him.

Kaguya
My eyes opened slowly, greeted by a familiar white ceiling and the sound of a rotating fan. The hospital, I'm in the hospital again. I didn't try to move. My mind was blank, devoid of thoughts, letting my senses adjust themselves. The center of the fan formed a spiral shape, rotating, hypnotizing. A whirlpool of emotion flooded me, and I realized and was finally truly awakened.
I try to stand up or sit on my bed trying, wanting to find out what happened last night; that fateful night. It did not comply with my command. Pain, so much pain, thousands of tiny needles pierced from my skin to my spine when they did not exist. The consequences that I've wrought on myself for everyone else.
Why does it have to be me? Why is it always my family, always the one I loved who always gets hurt? Why do they have to suffer so much? I only want a peaceful life, full of nothing but laughter and smiles. Is that too hard to ask? Too heavy to accomplish?
No, I shouldn't think of that now. Where's sensei, where's Sakura, where's Naruto? Is he alright? Is he hurt? Please be alright, I don't want to see him hurt. I don't want him to die. He's my first friend, my first… Love, I love him, so please for anyone above don't let him die. I don't know how to live and don't know how to be human without him. Please let him live.
Forcing my limping arm to support my body with what little strength I could muster. It hurts, so so much. Holding my breath to hold the pain as torn muscle ligament barely works. Enhancing my body with my pool of inexhaustible chakra, a jolt of pain permeated the coils of my chakra as if burning hot, not able to contain it.
"Get up," a meek sound.
"Get up!" filled with desperation.
"GET UP!!" And raging fire of determination.
All that work for no gain.
The hospital bed clanged with metallic sounds. Alerting anyone that could hear it. My body lumped again.
As I lay, sweat formed on my body absorbed by the hospital garment. Hitching breathing with a heavy exhale and my heart pounded until it physically hurt my body.
'It's all broken.'
The hospital sliding door was opened but I did not care, pain is still enveloping this mortal coil. Too distracted to want to care who entered the room. My vision was square root again to the whirlpool made by the fan, only he is in my mind.
"You're still sick." An old man's voice reprimanded, "Why did you…" from the corner of my eye an old man gave me a look of concern. A vile lie to control or the genuine emotion of a grandfather seeing me as his own. Both possibilities disgust me.
"Is he ok?" That's all I want to know.
"Yes," The old war veteran takes a deep breath, dragging a chair to sit next to me. "Yes, he's ok. The Kyuubi healed most of his injuries. He's the one that carried all three of you, how? I do not know. That boy is too determined for his own good."
"That's good." I smiled a little. Knowing now that Naruto is alright.
An uncomfortable silence.
"What about sensei and Sakura?" I said while trying to move my neck to see him. Failing as the pain is too overwhelming.
"Don't move, your chakra coil and nerve system are already damaged as it is. Another operation will kill you." His words explained why I'm not healing. Usually, I would heal at the same rate as Naruto. The chakra coil itself is too damaged to heal itself. "You'll have to wait for another 3 days until the strain is healed."
"Sensei, Sakura?" I asked again.
"You're stubborn like him, " the Hokage chuckled and immediately turned serious again. "Kakashi is mostly fine, the stab wound didn't infect any important organs, he's just grumbling that he has to be in the hospital. While your friend Sakura…" the Hokage stopped for a second, sadness was filling him but it quickly was cast away. "Hemorrhage, concussion and currently being operated on by our medics."
Hemorrhage? This young, oh gods. An internal injury in the brain is deadly. Is she going to be ok? What if she doesn't survive? What if…
The Hokage picked upon my emotions. "She's going to be alright, it's not the first time a genin like her suffered from the same fate, our medics are already used to this kind of case."
Instead of calming me down it only made me unnerved, "You said with such normalcy."
The Hokage snorted, "That's the normality of this world." The Hokage looked up at the hospital ceiling solemnly. "A world where it is normal for me to say children as a casualty of conflicts." He focused on me. "A life for all of Shinobi."
'A life I didn't choose.' I thought hatefully.
"You know your emotion and thoughts are being clearly conveyed to me right?" The experienced politician and statesman surprised me. How did he? "There is no need to be confused. I'm an experienced politician, and far greater men, and women have already tried to lie to me. Some of them are even whom I consider my family and friends. But your poker face, while admittedly needing some work, is great for your age."
"Then I don't need to lie to you about my true opinion of my current occupation."
"No, keep trying. I would like to have an option for Konoha's diplomatic future." He chuckled. "A talented little girl in the art of politics and administration, if it wasn't for your Kekkei Genkai, you would be a far greater asset for us to work in the shadows of the great concert of the fives power."
"The great concert of the fives power? It's that a band name?" if it is. That's a terrible name.
"No, it's not. The great concert as we like to shorten it is a term to describe the balance of power between the great five nations. While dominated by ninjas recently, civilians' families like yours have also made some impact." Explained the old man. His explanation of the recent rise of civilian families' prominence surprises me. In a world dominated by shinobi for thousands of years, the news of a merchant upper class now having some influence is unheard of. Everyone knows that the true ruler of society is the warrior class and the daimyos are merely a formality. They control the means of violence and because of that, they have power. But to hear that civilians are taking a more prominent role? That was like hearing someone loudly proclaiming a system of governance based on some watery bint lobbed a scimitar at them and that someone made themself an emperor. How could that even happen? But the more important question is.
"Why are you telling me this?" I asked with suspicion. "What do I have to do with anything about what I currently see as a path toward a great equalizer?"
"That is a story for another time, you could ask me when you're older. When I deemed you ready." he switched the topic so effortlessly. And while he's trying to say it with such nonchalance, it's obvious he's trying to give me some sort of hints. The problem is what's the hint? "Now, could you tell me what happened that day? Kakashi and Naruto already told me about the events in detail, how they fight the enemy they faced, what I don't know is what happened to you. From both of their reports, you were possessed by something. And it tends to bring out your sadistic side."
"My sadistic side? It took me a few seconds to realize what he meant and I cringed at myself as memories of me being dramatic sank in. I can't believe that the Hokage im… hmm. "Wait, does everyone know that I'm…"
"Yes," he answered swiftly.
Oh gods, I want to kill myself, I want to kill myself, sbdbajbsjsksn. Now everyone knows.
While my face is red, the Hokage still maintains his dead serious tone. "Kaguya…"
"Right," I coughed, attempting to transition to the asked question, "Lady Reze and I were talking it was a normal conversation quite eye-opening on the nature of being a civilian outside the walls, then all of sudden as if she was possessed by something, she started to talk strangely, gruffer, crazed like. The words she said triggered me."
"Trigger?" The Hokage raised an eyebrow.
"I was getting there," at least let me finish first. "She started to insult Naruto and the Village sacrifice and the thing I get from her she was an ungrateful cun-"
"Word,"
"Sorry sir." being lectured by the Hokage, how embarrassing. "While her words ultimately made me "Emotional", it wasn't the ones that made me lose it, it was something else… A word that made me mad."
"Explain." ordered the Hokage.
"Ōtsutsuki, Kaguya Ōtsusuki, and after that I was unconscious. Being drowned by dreams? Visions, or is it past memories? At this point, I don't care. It was… Dark, cold, and uncaring. Yet strangely I could feel the warmth. My body was controlled by her, by that savage monster. And I watch without my own accord as if we were one."
"You and she have the same first name?" The Hokage caressed his beard.
"Yes, it's strange. She felt familiar to me. Sometimes I felt like she was my future." my jaw tightened. "The thought of me being slowly turned into that monster… Scared me. That goddess of destruction, salivating at the prospect of violence. Trembling the world with her waltz. In the past, I noticed my speech pattern and way of thinking had been altered by her. I don't know if I'm the same person 2 years ago."
The Hokage let out a ruminating sound, "Your recounts doesn't-contradict with what Naruto and Kakashi had told me." The Hokage stood up, "Well then I'll get going Kaguya."
As the Hokage was about to be out of range, "Just like that? You already want to leave. After all that information you're just going to leave?
"I have far more pressing matters to attend to."
"How about Lady Reze's son? Is he ok?"
The Hokage stopped his track taking another deep breath, "Unfortunately, the child does not survive the speed at which you subject him into. His neck was snapped and his bone was crushed because of the G-force, he was already buried by Naruto beside his family."
"He's dead? Are all of them dead?" A question for me rather than the Hokage. The Hokage continued to walk noticing my changing emotion but chose to continue forward, opening the door as Mama and Papa stood in front of him.
"Haruna, Haruki, you may enter now." That's all it takes for them to run at me with speed, hugging me desperately trying not to lose me yet again. Their tears run down their cheeks.
"You're fine, thank the gods you're fine."
While they let out their cry of joy and relief.
Failure
Only failure filled me.
'I should've trained more.'
Kakashi
"Guy, I'm not supposed to be drinking alcohol." Sitting in a bar that is mostly filled with shinobis, forced by my friend and rival to join his needs. "Why are we in a bar anyway? you hate alcohol." well hate is a strong word, he still drinks alcohol sometimes but tends to avoid it if he can. All that healthy lifestyle and self-improvement philosophy of his made him, not an avid drinker.
"You worry too much Kakashi," He patted my back with force. Making me almost hit the bar counter. "What's wrong with letting ourselves go on occasion."
"Guy, if you're trying to cheer me up this isn't going to work." Guy paid me no heed and just ordered for the two of us Sake. When the bartender gave us our drinks, Guy poured his cup and drank it letting out a satisfied sound.
"This is not about me trying to cheer you up because of your team's failed mission, I know you could handle that."
"Then what's this meeting about? You dragged me from the hospital unannounced, which by the way thanks for that." I hate that place.
"You're welcome," he raised his glass.
"And just dragged me into a bar, while I appreciate that you rescued me now I have to explain to the nurse there why I leave without them knowing when I'm still not recovered and probably have to endure another verbal chewing from them. Again thanks." How the hell would I explain this to them?!!? Oh sorry, I escaped from the hospital because my friend dragged me to drink some alcohol while I'm still recovering. That's a recipe for disaster– for me at least. "While this kind of action Is hardly the first time. You never dragged me while recovering to drin…" My head almost instantly snapped to him while he gave me a white toothy smile with a cling accompanying it. "So, why am I here?'
"Drink first then we'll talk." He said while taking another sip of sake.
I stared at the Sake sets and took a big sigh. Pouring the fermented rice water into the serving cup, drinking the Sake while my mask was still in use. "Now can you tell me what's going on?"
"It's my previous mission," Guy tapped the bar counter., "There's something I want to discuss.."
"You mean your mission to wave? Isn't that mission successful? The report I read stated that it went without a hitch.'' The expression Guy made tells me otherwise. "unless there's something that isn't written in the report."
"It's about Danzo." Guy took another shot of the sake.
"Oi, we're in a public space right now."I signaled him to see the other customer that attended the bar. "Are you sure you want to talk about him here?"
"He already knows that I know, did you really think he wouldn't expect me not to tell you about what I know?" When he puts it that way he's right, discretion is just going to be a waste of time.
"There's a new player, a very competent one. I only manage to find his paper trail after we raided Gato's secret base in Wave." I raised my lone eyebrow.
"If he has many other shady deals besides drugs and racketeering I'm not even surprised." Human trafficking, organ harvesting, and sometimes forced pornography are old news. Ancient news even, there wouldn't be many people in the shinobi forces at least that would still be surprised by this.
"Well, that is true," Guy made furtive glances at his surroundings even after he said there is no need for discretion. "Those paper trails however scream Konoha all over the place." Now that's big news.
"Guy, are you sure we can talk about this out in the open?" I asked him one last time. The two of us may be one of the strongest ninjas inside Konoha, but we can't just talk about something this important without any precautions.
Guy ignored my advice and just slid a piece of paper to me. Testing its texture it is definitely paper that is usually mass-produced by one of Konoha's neighboring villages that mainly catered to fulfill Konoha's needs and this one is specialized to fulfill Konoha's administrative thirst for paper. But that doesn't mean that Konoha is behind this, Fire Country is famous for being the only nation having a large enough paper industry to export its products that even supplied Haruki-san banking endeavors all the way to Moon Country. There's also no oddity in the printing technique and the content of this paper is incriminating, but no proof of Konoha behind this.
"Anyone can be the suspect. For all we know an enemy force is using that paper to incriminate us." I reasoned with him.
"Use your sharingan and look at the paper code." Suggested Guy.
Rolling my eyes I raised my hitaite to see the paper code which was made to prevent the forgery of currency. Every piece of paper has a set of 7 numbers code that would tell anyone that has the proper equipment or in my case eyes to see when the paper was distributed and which factory did they get this paper from. These codes are usually unseen by the naked eye forming a row of numbers. Focusing my Sharingan on the paper made my breath hitch.
"Where's the code?" I muttered. This paper is clearly made inside Fire Country and by law there should've been code. Unless….
"Who do you believe has the recourse to have untraceable paper, Kakashi?" Guy not so much asking a question but to lead me to a conclusion.
"Root," I closed my hitaite. "What the fuck are we doing in Wave Country?" The better question is what do we gain to mess with Wave Country? A poor nation that doesn't even appear in a blip in most politicians and Kages conscious, yes their location is strategic, full of places that could be deepwater ports on the east side and shallow water that could be easily connected via a bridge with the mainland directly to Fire Country. There's talk to connect the two decades before the third great shinobi World War, but the cost and payment Wave country demanded was too much for Konoha to pay, especially with war looming over. And the talks to build that bridge were halted after Wave was hit with economic problems and gang violence on the rise. Oh. We did that.
"I think we all know why." Guy chuckled. "Funny story, because the mission was updated to an A-rank mission. We manage to negotiate for us to have preferential treatment when the bridges they constructed are completed and a new trade deal with them now joining out custom market and union as "equal" partners. All of that with the bonus of them seeing us as heroes."
"This is too clean for Root. I doubt that even enemy intelligence could pick up that we manage to effectively vasalized a nation under 7 years behind their back. Someone must've helped them." Root has a reputation for being more of a covert blunt instrument rather than this diplomatic maneuvering and market manipulation. Seeing them change and transform this fast is odd.
"With that, you are correct my friend." Guy took another sip of Sake. How much did he drink? "unfortunately I have no idea who he or she is."
"How typical of you," I remarked.
"Hey, I worked hard to gather all of this evidence. It's already impressive that I manage to go this far alone!!" He's really drunk.
"Does Lod Third know?" I cut before he's overtaken by a drunken rant.
"He's the one that ordered me to make an alternative report," so he knows. That means this is a team effort made by Danzo and lord third. "So why are you telling me this? Do you want me to take him out?"
"No, he or she no matter how much I despise its tactics are loyal to Konoha. I'm just here to warn you about our new player." Guy said with a smile. "Now enough talking about work how about a challenge." he pointed at the beef set the bar served. "whoever eats the most gyudon bowl wins!!!"
