Chapter 8

Edward arrived at the hospital he found Bella, she told him Tanya was getting a D&C done. As soon as she said that he knew, Tanya had been pregnant and lost the baby. They had been together just three weeks ago; she probably didn't even know she was pregnant yet.

"Is she okay?" he asked.

"She's very sad," Bella replied.

Hell, she was sad too.

"Edward, something else is going on because Tanya didn't know she was pregnant yet," she stated the obvious and Edward agreed with her…

Tanya didn't spend much time in the hospital as the pregnancy wasn't far along. She recovered fairly quickly from the D&C. Edward was asked to be at her post-surgery follow-up appointment, and Tanya asked Bella to be there too, besides her family they were the only other people she trusted right now.

"Dr. Hunter, why are we here?" Edward asked.

"Last year when Tanya miscarried I told you I was suspicious," Edward nodded.

"I ran some tests when Tanya miscarried this time and came to a conclusion," she said.

Tanya grasped both Bella and Edward's hands, she was scared of what the doctor had found.

"The miscarriage before this one happened after you told your family right?" The doctor asked.

They all nodded, "what do you remember from that day?" she asked Tanya.

Edward was getting upset, he wanted to know what was going on. Tanya pointed out everything that she recalled from that horrid day, the doctor took notes as she talked.

"Okay, so your last miscarriage was caused by the tea you drank," Dr. Hunter said.

"WHAT!" Edward and Tanya exclaimed at the same.

"But it didn't taste any different!" Tanya pointed out.

"That's because whoever made the tea or changed your herbs didn't add sage and oregano or pennyroyal," the doctor explained.

"Is that what was put on my tea?" Bella asked.

"Yes," the doctor replied.

"But I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that whoever poisoned Isabella didn't want her to just miscarry. They were trying to kill her; she shouldn't even be alive with the amount of pennyroyal that she ingested. Isabella Cullen, you are a miracle," Dr. Hunter added.

"Tanya's abortive tea herbs were kept under the mint family, which is why she didn't notice the difference," the doctor explained.

"Is that what happened this time?" Edward asked.

"No," the doctor said.

"Then what the hell happened?" Edward asked exasperated.

"Tanya did you bring the pill bottle I asked you to bring?" she asked her.

Tanya quickly gave her the bottle, the doctor opened it and spilled the contents on a small tray on her desk.

"Care to explain?" Edward asked.

"Tanya's treatment pills were changed," she said.

"What?" Tanya asked her voice quivering.

"Exchanged! With what?" Edward demanded.

"Birth control," Dr. Hunter said.

Time stood still at the doctor's revelation.

"How did that affect me?" Tanya asked.

"I will have to test out one of these pills to know the exact components, but from the tests I ran I saw that you don't have enough uterine lining for an embryo to implant right now," She said.

"Is it reversible?" Edward asked.

"Yes, it's reversible, in two days you're both going to start taking a combination of Estrofem and Utrogestan. The mix of these prescriptions will strengthen your uterine lining faster. If you get pregnant again you will take the Utrogestan until the twelfth week of gestation. The Utrogestan has to be taken three times a day, there are two ways to take it, orally or vaginally. You need to tell me which one you prefer," she explained to all of them.

After filling up the prescription for both of them at the hospital's pharmacy Edward took them back to Bella's home. Tanya took the girls and went to the guest room. She had been quiet during the ride home, her face forlorn and sad.

"How did she not know her medicine was changed, Edward?" Bella asked trying to make sense of the situation as she removed the blonde wig and blue contact lenses she was wearing. She was posing as one of Tanya's sisters while they were out. Edward let Tanya's sisters know what was going on, he did ask them not to tell their parents yet.

"I don't know, she takes that bottle with her everywhere, the only time she doesn't have it is when she finishes it and Jessica gets her a new one," Edward said.

Four weeks later…

"Tanya, Edward's birthday is this week; do you have any plans?" Bella asked her.

"Yes, I was just going to talk to you about it. I don't usually plan his birthday, Jessica does but I managed to be part of it this year," she said.

"What's the plan?" Bella asked.

"I'm going to make him breakfast, then he's going to work until five. We'll have dinner at five thirty, I'm going to make his favorite dishes. Then he'll open his presents and Jessica will bring out the cake. Truth is the cake is delicious but not Edward's favorite dessert, that's where you come in," she said.

"What do I have to do?" Bella asked intrigued.

"His favorite is fruit tart; Jessica knows this but chooses to ignore it every time. I'm going to give you the recipe and you're going to make it," she said.

It was a good thing Bella was good in the kitchen, if not it would've been a disaster.

"But how am I going to give it to him? I'm not supposed to be out in the open!" Bella reminded her.

"Darling, he'll come to you, every year he goes to the cabin he has by Lake Michigan. Every year he takes someone different, last year he took me, this year I hinted at him to take you. But don't worry, if he doesn't say anything to you about it you'll surprise him there, I already grabbed the spare keys," she said giving the keys to Bella. That's not exactly what Bella had in mind, but the prospect of having him all to herself for a weekend sounded good.

"Did you have something else in mind?" Tanya asked her.

"I did, I wanted to tell you about it," she said.

"What is it?" Tanya asked.

"You know that we've both been cleared for sex right," Bella stated Tanya nodded.

"And the doctor said that the medicines were working and our uteruses were as healthy as they could be," Tanya nodded again.

Bella smiled and then continued, "Well I was thinking we should get pregnant," she said.

"Both? At the same time?" Tanya asked a bit confused.

"Yes and no," she said.

"Oh please explain darling because you lost me," Tanya laughed.

"That we both have sex with him," she said.

"At the same time?" Tanya asked.

"Fuck no! You're beautiful but no," Bella giggled.

"What I mean is we both have sex with him on the same day or around the same time. The doctor said that our cycles were already aligned before all this crap happened, so there's a possibility that we ovulate around the same time which is in a few days," she explained.

"Bella that's a great idea!" Tanya beamed.

So it was decided, Tanya would be with him the day of his birthday and then Bella would be with him that weekend in the cabin. Both women were excited at the prospect of getting pregnant and giving Edward a baby.

Tanya cooked an assortment of Edward's favorite dishes. She displayed the food buffet style, she ordered some of the maids and butlers from the main house to come and serve. A playlist of Edward's favorite songs played in the background. Edward had showered and changed his clothes quickly, he had also asked Tanya to pack his bag for the cabin.

She had asked him who he was taking but he said no one. Tanya told Bella to go to the cabin, she should be heading there soon. Dinner was going to be held outside as most of his family was coming and there was more space there. Tanya arranged the tables and placed olive green tablecloths with gold table runners, and some flower arrangements.

Everyone gathered around the table, the twins were on their high chairs near Edward, Tanya started giving them solid food and wanted to sit beside them so they wouldn't make a mess. Eduarda was going to sit to Edward's right as she was the firstborn. Dinner was enjoyable, Edward's smiled as he watched his nieces and nephews run around and play. His heart swelled watching his mother interact with his daughters. Tanya went to spend some time with the other mares/wives as she knew that Jessica wanted Edward all to herself. She would place her hand on his thigh and lean close to him.

Tanya could see that he was uncomfortable but he didn't let his face show it, Jessica's parents were present and he didn't want to cause a scene. It's not that Edward didn't like Jessica or that he didn't enjoy her company, is just that she was being clingy and mean She didn't understand that Edward loved/cared for his other wives. He still felt something for Jessica, but she made it hard for him to show her in recent years. He didn't blame her for not being able to have children, but he didn't like the way she treated him sometimes.

It was time for presents, Eduarda gave him a picture she had made at school and a new tie. Jessica got him a new facial grooming kit, and Tanya and the twins got him a new watch there was a picture of the twins on the face of the watch. On the back there was an inscription, it read, "Daddy, love you until the end of time, Eliza and Eden." Edward's eyes welled up as he read the inscription.

After that, everyone started leaving, and the servants and maids started clearing everything up. Tanya went to send Bella a quick text and get Edward's bag.

Jessica cornered Edward before he left, "You're going to the cabin?" Jessica asked him.

"Yes, why?"

"Who are you taking?" She asked him.

"No one," he said.

"Then why are you going?" she asked him.

"Because I need some time to myself, the past few weeks have been hectic," he said.

"Why didn't you ask me to go with you? We barely spend time together anymore!" Jessica cried.

"Jessica please," he said.

"Ever since you got Tanya and her spawns you barely have time for me and your daughter anymore! Why do you want more children if you can't take care of the one you already have!" she pushed him away and ran to her bedroom.

That night she vowed Tanya and Bella (if she ever recovered) would pay for all the pain she's been through. At the end of the day whether he wanted it or not Edward would be hers.

The cabin was small it had two bedrooms and one bathroom, a small kitchen, and a dining area. To the left, there was a living room space with a couch, two chairs, a coffee table, and a chimney. On the left wall, there was a decent-sized window that looked over the lake. Outside there was a fire pit and some chairs. Bella arrived at the cabin and placed the fruit tart on the table, she set a place for her and Edward. After that, she went to change into something more comfortable as she waited for Edward. Even though it was summer it was a bit chilly, so she turned on the chimney and made herself comfortable on the couch.

Soon enough she heard his car pull up (she had hidden hers where Tanya told her). she took a breath and waited. He had his back to her, "Hello love," she said.

Edward turned around at the sound of her voice, he smiled and opened his arms. Bella ran to him; it had been almost two weeks since she had last seen him. He had been away for work and then spent a few days home.

"Heaven," he said as he inhaled her sweet smell, he leaned in and kissed her. Isabella leaned into him and moaned as his tongue entered her mouth deepening the kiss. They broke apart breathlessly.

"I love you," she whispered.

"I love you more," Edward replied.

"How did you know?" He asked her.

"Tanya," Bella smiled.

Edward smiled as he made a mental note to send her some flowers, Tanya always knew what he needed before he knew it himself.

"I made you something," Bella said taking his hand and bringing him to the table.

"Fruit tart? How did you know?" he asked excitedly.

Bella just laughed as she cut a piece big enough for both of them, Edward pulled her to his lap and then cut a piece of his favorite dessert. He moaned when the tart made contact with his tongue. Tanya always made him this dessert, but it never tasted like this.

"It tastes just as when my mom makes it for me," he said taking another bite.

He cut a piece and gave it to Bella, she patted herself on the back. Damn, that fruit tart was good! He finished the entire piece with a smile, Bella was happy she could give him this little moment of joy after all the crap they had been through. Bella rose to place the leftover tart in the fridge. Edward then noticed what she was wearing, a navy blue robe that fell mid-thigh. Edward stood up as she closed the refrigerator's door and grabbed her by the waist pinning her to it.

Isabella whimpered as he bent his head and kissed her. He undid the knot on her robe and shrugged it off her shoulders, he caressed her sides, and he moved away to look at her. She was wearing a lace navy blue teddy. He growled and kissed her roughly, his lips traveled south to her neck and the top of her breasts.

"Please Edward," she begged as she grabbed the hem of his polo and took it off.

"Can you?" he panted.

Bella nodded, Edward grabbed her by the waist and pulled her up, Bella wrapped her legs around his waist. He carried her to the bedroom with the bigger bed, he laid her down gently on it and quickly removed the rest of his clothes. He towered over her covering her body with his. He continued kissing the side of her body as he removed the lace lingerie from her body. Her breasts peaked as a reaction to the cool air, Edward bent his head and sucked in them making Bella writhe under him. "Thank you for telling her to come," he said to her as he leaned in to kiss her lips.

Bella looked up from the babies and smiled as she saw them kissing.

"You're welcome," she said.

"She makes a great addition to our little family, right?" she asked him.

"She's perfect," Edward smiled.

Edward's hand was perched on Tanya's hip tracing circles with his finger as they both continued to watch Bella and the twins. She looked carefree and happy, Edward vowed to keep that joyous smile on her face. He promised himself that nothing would ever happen to her. He was going to protect the four of them from anything and everyone.

Edward and Carlisle were closer to catching the culprit as the interviews with the employees had brought up some interesting information to light. They were working with their lawyers and the Mare Program's council on building a case when they caught the culprit it was going to be a done deal. Soon enough they would put all of what happened behind them.

After lunch they went for a swim in the lake, they played and goofed around like the family they were.

Four weeks later…

Bella woke up that morning and couldn't stand her head, everything was swirling. Her stomach swirled too as she stood and she gagged as she ran to the bathroom. There she emptied the contents of her stomach. After rinsing her mouth, she called Tanya.

She answered her phone groaning.

"Are you okay?" she asked her.

"No," Tanya replied.

"I just puked," they both said.

"I've been feeling like this since last week," Bella said.

"Me too, I'm miserable," Tanya added.

A few hours later both women smiled as they saw the positive sign on the plastic sticks they'd set up on the counter…

Back in Edward's office, he was just finishing his work for the day when he was interrupted by his assistant.

"What is it, Heidi?" He said.

"One of your house employees is here to see you." She replied.

"Send her in," he said as he closed his computer and rolled his chair to face the door.

As soon as she entered the door he knew who she was, this employee had many problems with Jessica before. Jessica wanted her fired, but Tanya liked her so he didn't fire her. She had asked both him and Carlisle for special permission to go help take care of her sick mother. She probably came to resign, she closed the door and he motioned for her to sit on the chair across from him. The young girl smiled before stating the purpose of her unannounced visit.

"Mr. Cullen, I have a confession to make,"
