A/N: Hiya everyone! Sorry it has been a little while, same things happened, life got in the way. Things have been better than they were so that is a good thing really. I hope you enjoy this chapter!
After leaving the children they found themselves down by the river, the Doctor rummaging through a cart that Kari had dragged out of the TARDIS. "Is this stuff safe?" Bill asked, as she watched the Doctor and Kari sort through it, pulling things out, including a large brass diving helmet.
Kari didn't answer, just bit her lip a little. She wasn't sure that it was safe at all, she wasn't sure that anything they were doing was going to be safe. But the Doctor answered instead. "Potentially."
The look on Bill's face said that she wasn't impressed. "Potentially? What does 'potentially' mean?"
"Safe, with a frisson of excitement." The Doctor said, glancing at Kari. "Are you okay?" He called to her, trying not to get overly worried. He had been doing his best to contain his emotions and thoughts because he didn't want her to be worrying over him. Kari just nodded at him slightly, not feeling okay at all. She didn't want to go down there, she couldn't.
Bill hadn't missed the looks that passed between the two aliens that she travelled with, and she knew there was something else going on that they were not telling her about. "Right, but we're not going to be like, completely defenceless down there, though?"
The Doctor finally pulled his gaze away from Kari, not completely satisfied with her answer but knowing not to push it any further. "No, no, no, no. Well yes. But don't worry about it."
Curiosity was getting the better of Bill and she couldn't help but carry on bombarding them with questions. "Why not? What have you got up your sleeve? Oh, my God! Have you been holding out on me?" Suddenly her eyes went wide with excitement. "Do you have, like, magical, alien powers?" Kari let out a sigh while the Doctor huffed. "What, was that an impolite question?"
"I'm not going." Kari announced, causing Bill to look at her in shock. "I'm staying up here, just in case something doesn't go to plan. I'm the backup."
It was then that the Doctor put down the helmet and put his hands gently on her shoulders. "Do you want to go and wait in the TARDIS?" He asked her, receiving a shake of the head in response. "Kari, it's okay, you don't have to be here and do this."
While she would have loved to go and hide away in the TARDIS, to get a break from the noise she was hearing in her head, Kari knew that would not solve anything. "No, it's fine. I'm okay. It's just the noise, that's all. I promise, I'll be fine."
Bill just looked at them in confusion. "Noise? What noise?" The woman asked, having no idea what was going on.
"The creature. Kari can hear it." The Doctor told her, not taking his eyes from Kari. He was still worried about her and that wasn't going to change just because she said she would be fine.
"Doctor, I'm fine, okay? I need to stay here and keep an eye on everything. It's dark, we need to make sure that no one else goes onto the ice. I can monitor everything from here and if you do get into any trouble then I will be able to come and rescue you both." Kari knew that she needed to reassure him, to make sure that he believed she was okay and not as worried as she really was. "Please, trust me, Doctor."
Eventually he listened to her and while he headed out onto the ice in full diving gear with Bill, Kari stayed behind, watching them with a pair of clearly non-terrestrial binoculars. She had to admit, the pair did look a little odd in their diving suits, standing on the frozen river. Kari continued to watch as Bill threw her lantern at the Doctor, before falling through the ice. Once the Doctor had jumped down the hole, she pulled her phone out of the pocket of her coat and checked the time. She knew how long they were going to be down there for, and she knew where they were going to resurface from as well.
All Kari could do was watch the minutes pass by as she waited for the Doctor to give her the signal. The longer they were down there for, the longer she worried. Part of her was regretting not going down there with them, but she knew that the noise was going to be too much for her, amplified by the water, being so close to the creature. She was struggling to deal with it as it was, there was no need for her to make it worse. There had been too much going on for her recently, Kari needed to give herself some time to work through everything, to make sure she didn't have another breakdown, or shut everyone out. She needed to take care of herself a little.
Her eyes kept flicking between the ice and her phone, the minutes slowly passing by. It felt like the Doctor and Bill had been down there for hours, all she wanted was for them to come back again. There was something in the air that was just making her feel even more anxious and with her phone in her hand Kari was tempted to do what she always did when she had that feeling, call her brother.
However, before she was able to do that there was a tug on the line that was connecting her to the Doctor, and she let out a sigh of relief. They were heading back, they were finished down there and coming back up. Kari walked quickly along the edge of the river, staying as far away from the ice as she could. Up ahead she spotted someone sitting on the steps to the river, a pole in their hands. Her eyes drifted out to the ice and she saw the large hole, the one that she knew the Doctor and Bill would surface through any moment now.
It didn't take long at all for the Doctor to pop up from the hole, getting himself onto the ice before reaching down and pulling Bill up. The man who had been fishing was terrified, and as soon as the figures from the water took off the big brass helmets he stood up and ran away, pushing past Kari as he did.
The Doctor had spotted him as well and called out after him. "I know you! You're the cheat! I love your work!"
Instead of waiting for the pair to get to her, Kari went down to help them. She reached them just as the Doctor made it to the steps, putting the helmet he was holding down. "The sound it made. I couldn't hear you, but that noise, it's like I felt it in my bones, you know? It sounded like, like…"
There was a sad look on the Doctor's face as he reached out for Kari and took her hand. "Despair. Loneliness. A prisoner in chains." The pair of them said together, neither one of them smiling. While the Doctor and Bill had only been able to hear it while they were under the water, Kari could hear it constantly.
It was then that something dawned on Bill. She had seen the man as well, the one that had been there fishing just moments ago. "That guy. He said he caught the fish himself. I bought pie off that guy. Fish pie!"
Kari slipped her hand out of the Doctor grasp and picked up one of the fish that was sitting by the steps, the fish that the man had already caught. The Doctor looked at the fish that she was holding, it looked rather like and angler fish. "Oh, hello. Aren't you magnificent?" He said to the fish as he took it from her, the green light hanging from its head still slightly lit.
Bill wasn't really listening to him. She was more concerned with what had just happened. "I ate that pie. I liked that pie."
Kari just shook her head a little. "Definitely not carnivores." She said, looking at the fish as well.
"Which means you're cooperating with the creature, providing for it. What do you get in return, hmm? What did it take for you to evolve into that?" There were so many questions running through the Doctor's head and Kari was hearing every single one of them. For someone who was trying to keep the noise down for her, he seemed to be doing a pretty bad job of it.
Finally Bill started paying more attention to the Doctor. "The creature, do you reckon that's what's making London so cold?"
The Doctor gave Kari a glance and she nodded at him slightly. "Very possibly."
"What kind of alien messes with the weather?" Bill asked as the Doctor and Kari started heading off the ice and up the stairs.
"You assume it's alien." Kari said, knowing the Bill was going to make a statement that it was clearly alien. She did, and Kari was ready to hit back. "Just because it's something you've never seen here before does not mean it is alien. That poor creature could have been on Earth long before humans were here. They wouldn't be the only ones to have occupied the planet before you came along and took over." She explained, reaching the top of the stairs with the Doctor and stopping to look back at Bill. "But that doesn't matter. What really matters is who is the one keeping it in chains?"
Before Bill could answer, the Doctor was speaking. "And perhaps our friend here can answer that." He said, before looking over towards a barrel.
The man who had been fishing on the ice, the same man who had been selling fish pies at the fair earlier, slowly appeared from behind the barrel. "Who are you? What do you want with me?" There was a hint of panic and fear in his voice as he spoke.
"The coin trick. Just tell me how to do it, please!" The Doctor said, causing Kari to give him a slight nudge. He looked at her and saw that warning that was on her face. "Okay. Not the time. Have you ever seen a man around here with a tattoo of a ship?" The worried look had now gone from the man's face, replaced with one that the Doctor didn't recognise. "What's that face? Is that a no or are you against tattoos? I'm against tattoos, too, I think that we are bonding." He said, starting to ramble a little.
He looked at them as if they were stupid. "We're stood by the docks, and you just asked me if I've ever seen a man with a tattoo of a ship."
Kari let out a sigh, it was time for her to step in. "Forget all that, you're right. Think about this instead, what has been going on that doesn't seem right. People acting suspiciously since the big freeze. Have you seen anyone or anything that just seemed a little… odd, or out of place?" Kari said, then noticing the man looking at the Doctor and Bill. "Apart from those two, obviously."
The man seemed to think about it for a moment before finally answering her. "Well, there's the dredgers."
"And where are they?" Kari asked him, digging to get a little more information. Even though she knew exactly where to go and what to do, she felt like she needed to prove it to the Doctor. She had told him she knew what was going on, but he didn't seem to be paying that much attention to it. She could take them straight to where they needed to go and end it all, but he didn't seem to want to.
"There's a workhouse upriver. They have men out there patrolling all hours." The man told them, before insisting he knew nothing else and running off once more.
Kari let out a sigh, it was going to be a long night. "In the morning we will have to go down there, so that you can see for yourself what they are doing. Unless you want me to fill you in, because I would be more than happy to let you know everything that is going on and who is behind it all." She was done, she wanted to end that creatures suffering and get out of there. The noise was all too much, it was wearing her down. While the Doctor had told her that she could go and just wait in the TARDISs, she was not going to do that.
The Doctor looked at her, and he could see the tiredness and worry in her eyes. Even though he had been keeping his own mind quiet, he knew that Kari was still hearing more. "Okay, what is happening down the river? What are they doing at this workhouse?"
"They are using the creature, or rather what comes out of it." Kari told him, trying to be a little delicate.
Bill looked at her in utter confusion "What do you mean? Comes out of it?"
"After you eat, the food is processed and then…" Kari watched as Bill finally realised what she was saying. "Yeah. Now, they look just like bricks of mud that they are making, that is what anyone would think if they went there. But, those bricks are then taken to the steel mill."
The Doctor was listening now, and his mind was trying to work overtime to understand how that could work. "Why? Why the steel mill?"
"It's flammable. They use the bricks as fuel. It burns a thousand times longer than coal, hotter than they can measure as well." Kari explained, a little relief actually washing over her knowing that the Doctor was listening to her about all of this. "And it can burn underwater as well."
There was a look of shock and horror on Bill's face. "Wait, so they feed people to this creature and then use its… waste?" Kari nodded at her. It wasn't a pleasant thought, people were being sent to their deaths just to produce fuel for the factories, and for someone to make a profit.
"And who is behind all of this?" The Doctor asked Kari softly. He knew how bad she must be feeling, she would never give this much information away if there wasn't something wrong or bothering her.
"Lord Sutcliffe." Kari told him, looking out over the river, knowing that the poor creature down there was suffering so much. She was actually calling out for help, Kari could hear it, constantly. Not just the cries of pain and despair, but the pleas for help.
It seemed to take forever for dawn to come, and for the morning to begin, but eventually the sun was in the sky and the trio were making their way to the grand home of one Lord Sutcliffe. "So. This guy has a pet monster that turns people into fuel and we're just rocking up at his door?" Bill asked, knowing that both the Doctor and Kari were distracted.
"That's his door, this is us rocking." The Doctor told her, before ringing the bell. He had a tight grip on Kari's and he had no plans to let it go any time soon. "If we're going to stop him, we need to know where he started."
Bill was just confused. "Meaning?" She asked, hoping for some clarification.
It wasn't the Doctor who answered, it was Kari. "He seems to think he is from another planet, an alien. He isn't. Lord Sutcliffe is human." Just as Kari finished speaking a man opened the door, one of the Lord's servants, and the Doctor quickly flashed him the psychic paper before the three of them were let it and led to the drawing room.
"So, you both think Sutcliffe is an alien?" Bill asked while the Doctor played around with a model of the solar system, moving the moons and planets around. The Doctor told her it was possible, while Kari straight away said no. "But the creature is an alien."
Kari let out a sigh and rubbed her head a little, wondering if maybe she shouldn't have just stayed in the TARDIS for a while. "It certainly appears to be producing fuel suitable for interstellar travel." The Doctor answered, before heading over to where Bill was standing, taking Kari with him. "Either way, Bill, I need you to leave the talking to me." She questions him, asking why she had to keep quiet. "Because you have a temper."
"Oh okay, well, I lost it a tiny bit." The woman admitted, getting ready to defend herself.
The Doctor was quick to jump in and stop her. "You're about to meet a man, alien or otherwise, for whom human beings are raw material. Who grinds up children for profit. What we are here for is one thing. Information. We get that with diplomacy and tact. Charm, if necessary." Reluctantly she agreed and plonked herself down in one of the chairs, while Kari managed to pull her hand free and sit down in another. She knew what was coming next and she was going to enjoy it. "Always remember, Bill. Passion fights, but reason wins." The Doctor told her, just as the door opened and a man walked in.
The new man was holding onto the Doctor's psychic paper. "Doctor Disco, from the Fairford Club! Obviously, one aspires to membership, but to actually be considered for…" He stopped and his whole attitude changed the moment he saw Kari and Bill, sitting there. He was angry, a furious look taking over his face. "Who, who let these creatures in here?" He shouted, waving around at the two ladies. "On your feet, in the presence of your betters." Kari simply raised an eyebrow at him, knowing that things were not going to end well for him. She had seen the look on the Doctor's face, she could feel his fury.
She watched as the Doctor tapped the man on the shoulder, getting his attention. The moment Lord Sutcliffe turned around the Doctor threw a rather nice punch, sending the man straight to the ground. "He's human. Thirty one years of age. Low on iron." The Doctor said while Kari smiled at him.
"You know, we are in a whole heap of trouble now." Kari told him, as a few men came rushing in. They were looking rather grubby, not that smartly dressed and looking a little unclean.
The Doctor turned and saw them come in through the open door. "Oh, hello. Can I just say, this is very unlike me. I don't normally do this." He was starting to panic a little, realising what he had done.
Instead of answering, the men took a hold of the Doctor, tying his hands behind his back. They quickly did the same thing to Kari and Bill, although none of them seemed to resist or put up any kind of trouble. The trio were held there while someone else came in and helped Lord Sutcliffe, getting him settled in the chair and making sure that he was okay.
It didn't take too long for the man to compose himself. "Well, you're not from the Fairford Club." He said, holding a cloth with some ice in against his face where the Doctor had punched him.
It was the Doctor who spoke first, getting straight to the point. "The creature in the river, where did it come from?"
"Who the devil are you people?" Lord Sutcliffe asked, having no intention of answering the Doctor.
But the Doctor was not going to give up. There was too much at stake here, too much going on that he needed to understand. "Where did it come from?"
"Nowhere!" Lord Sutcliffe announced. "It's always been there. The secret's been passed down in the family since, I don't know when. As far back as records go."
Kari was starting to get very uncomfortable and a little panicky. She didn't know why, she knew what was going to happen and that everything was going to be okay, but something was making her feel very off. The Doctor seemed to notice it too. "Then tell me, do you also keep a record of how many it's killed?" He asked, wanting to get Kari out of there quickly.
Lord Sutcliffe scoffed. "Please. People know the ice is dangerous, yet they will insist on their festivities. That's hardly my fault."
"Don't sell yourself short." Kari ended up snapping. "This is the biggest Frost Fair in decades, and that's down to you. The circus performers, the elephant, that's all you." She said, wanting to get out of there quickly.
When Lord Sutcliffe looked at Kari he had a rather disgusted look on his face. "I made the most of the situation. It's the first proper freeze it's caused in years."
"And you made the most of it just to line your pockets." Kari said, trying not to let herself get too angry. "Without that beast, your mills would rely on coal, and that would cost you more coin wouldn't it? But this, oh no, this is cheap for you. You think that everything you are doing is for the greater good, for the empire, but I can tell you now that is really isn't."
Lord Sutcliffe was about to say something, but the Doctor quickly jumped in. "Human progress isn't measured by industry, it's measured by the value you place on a life. An unimportant life. A life without privilege. The boy who died on the river, that boy's value is your value. That's what defines an age. That's what defines a species."
"What a beautiful speech. The rhythm and, and vocabulary, quite outstanding. It's enough to move anyone with an ounce of compassion." The man said, clearly having something else up his sleeve. "So, it's really not your day, is it?" He told the Doctor before looking towards the men holding onto him. "If they know about the beast, then others must, too. We bring the plan forward." The man asked him when, and to his surprise the answer was now.
Everything else passed in a bit of a blur for Kari, they were shoved into a carriage and taken to the river. The carriage went so far as to take them onto the ice, before they were dragged out of it and taken into a tent. Kari had kept silent the whole way, barely paying attention to what was going on around her, she knew where they were going, she knew what was going to happen. Kari knew that it would all be over soon and that everyone would be okay.
Kari only came back to her senses when she heard the Doctor speaking as they were tied to a pole in the middle of the tent. "Nah, smell that. It's their home-made rocket fuel, redeployed as explosive. It's a little reckless, don't you think? Half the fair disappears into the river, the secret of your success won't be a secret any more."
Kari glanced up at Lord Sutcliffe, waiting for his reply. "Hardly. The city will pause to mourn a fireworks display gone tragically awry, and the creature will be fed. By spring, this will be a footnote in history. That is progress. They're bringing the elephant out presently. We won't get bigger crowds than that, so make sure you're off the ice by noon."
Bill scoffed a little. "Noon? There's no way you can keep us here that long. We'll just scream our heads off." The Doctor told her not to but it didn't stop her and she began to call for help. Lord Sutcliffe and his men just left them to it. There was no way that they were going to be heard with the noise from the frost fair.
"If you're quite finished, I would like to get out of here." Kari said, reaching into the pocket of the coat she was wearing.
Bill was just confused, having no idea what Kari was talking about. "Eh?"
All Kari could really do was roll her eyes as she pulled out the Doctor's sonic screwdriver. "Sorry, I may have picked your pocket earlier, Doctor." Kari admitted, letting it slip into his hand. "You know you really should be more careful. First Spider and now me."
He wasn't angry with her, he couldn't be, not when he knew that she was just being prepared to get them out of a tent that was filled with fireworks. "Yes, yes!" He called, turning it on and focusing on the rope that was holding them
Unfortunately the screwdriver was also doing something else, something that Bill had noticed. "Um, Doctor, Kari?" She said, nodding towards the green lights that had started to appear underneath them.
"Sonic screwdriver." Kari said, knowing that she needed to explain what was going on. "It makes a noise. That's how the fish choose a victim. That's how they know they've isolated someone on the ice." She said, watching them gather around them, knowing that Bill was beginning to panic. "Don't worry, the Doctor will have us out of here in just a few more moments.
The Doctor had been listening, and he confirmed what she had just said. "Just… just a little more."
Suddenly one of Lord Sutcliffe's men came in, following the green lights. "What are you…? Give me that!" He said, before snatching the sonic screwdriver off the Doctor. It was still on, and now the lights were circling him. "What the...?" They were circling him quicker and quicker now.
"Turn it off." The Doctor told him in a panic, as the lights followed him wherever he went in the tent. "There's a button on the side." The man couldn't seem to find it and the Doctor quickly put a hand up "Here! Give it here!" The man threw the sonic screwdriver, the next second he fell through the ice. "Afraid it has a knack to it." He said, before getting himself up and helping Kari up. "Are you okay?" He asked her, knowing that she wasn't.
Kari nodded at him. "Yeah, I'm good. But we need to go. We need to get her out of here, we need to free her." She told him, before turning to look at Bill. "Bill? Bill!" She ended up calling, getting the woman's attention away from where a man had just disappeared from. "I need you. We are going to save that creature, we are going to make sure that London and everyone living here is safe, but I need your help to do it."
Bill looked at her and nodded. "Tell me what you need."
Kari smiled at her. "The Doctor and I will take care of this, you need to get everyone off the ice." Bill nodded at her before charing out of the tent. She turned to the Doctor and gave him a smile. "Right, let's do this."
"You seemed in a better mood, you've been awfully quiet this whole time." The Doctor told her, hoping that she would explain what was going on with her.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Yeah, I know. My head is very messed up at the moment, Doctor. You know the things I've been through recently, I'm not entirely myself at the moment." It wasn't that hard for Kari to admit it, because she knew that the man she was with knew about everything she had been through. He understood.
The Doctor just wrapped his arms around her, holding onto her tightly. "I know, Kari, I know." All he could really do was reassure her. There wasn't much else that he could do to help. "Now, are you coming down this time, or are you going to stay here?"
Kari bit her lip slightly, unsure of what to do. She wanted to be useful, but she wasn't sure about the noise. "I'm coming." She ended up saying, much to the Doctor's surprise.
The pair of them hurried out of the tent and over to the edge of the river, to the same place where the Doctor and Bill had met Kari after discovering the creature. The diving gear was still there, it was still exactly where Kari had put it.
Soon enough, the pair of them were under the ice, attaching the explosives that were meant for them to the chains keeping the poor creature there. Kari was glad that she had gone down there, she saw the creature for herself, she heard the cries that broke her hearts. But then those cries changed, as soon as the creature realised what Kari and the Doctor were doing. The painful noise that Kari had been hearing since stepping out of the TARDIS changed, there was hope now.
When it was time to emerge from the water they were not near the ice. They popped up in a well further along the river, somewhere safe. The Doctor pulled his helmet off before helping Kari with hers. "Okay?" He asked, wondering how she was feeling now. He could see the smile on her face and knew that she was feeling better.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Now come on, we need to go and get Bill." Kari told him, the pair heading towards the ice to find their friend.
They saw her running on the ice, heading towards them. "Doctor! Kari!" The pair were very pleased to see her. "You did it! She's free!" Bill called, Kari and the Doctor reaching down, grabbing a hand each and pulling her up to join them safely off the cracking ice.
With Kari and Bill both safe, the Doctor went and started pulling on a wire, reeling something in, while the two ladies both watched the creature full of life and enjoying the freedom that she had now been given. "Where will she go?" Bill ended up asking as the Doctor kept reeling.
"Somewhere cold, I imagine." The Doctor told her, noticing the happy smile on Kari's face. "Hopefully, she's smart enough to avoid you lot now."
"What if she isn't?" Billed asked with a hint of worry. "What if we just like, doomed Greenland?"
Kari couldn't help but smile even more. "Tell you what, we will check in on Greenland, just to make sure." She could hear singing, the song that was coming from the creature was such a happy and joyful one. "Anyway, come on. There are still other things that we need to do."
After making a few changes to history, and giving Lord Sutcliffe an heir who just happened to be one of the homeless children that they had met and who had helped them save London, Kari was glad to be back in the TARDIS. They left the river and landed in a room that Kari had not yet visited before.
"We must have changed something, right? I mean, people saw a monster in the Thames." Bill asked as she stepped out of the TARDIS, the Doctor and Kari following behind her. "Well, it doesn't look any different."
The Doctor went and sat down at his desk while Kari just looked around the room, trying to let the whole idea of the Doctor staying put on Earth and working at a university sink in. "All right. There you go." Someone called as they opened the door and walked into the room, a tray with a tea pot and 3 mugs on it in their hands. "There's your tea. I put a bit of coffee in it, as well, just to give it some flavour. See, it's much better when you stick to your oath." He stopped when he noticed what the Doctor was wearing. "Oh sir, no. This is unacceptable. This is beyond unacceptable. This is naughty."
Kari just rolled her eyes and plonked herself down in the chair at the desk while the Doctor looked through some papers. "I don't get it." Bill called, looking at her phone. "London, 1814. Monster, sea creature, serpent, really, really big fish. Nothing."
The man in front of them seemed to be a little upset. "Sir, you said you wouldn't be going off-world."
"Do these look like off-world clothes to you?" The Doctor retorted, showing him his clothes and then pointing to Kari's.
Only the man wasn't finished yet, he wasn't going to give up. "But, sir, you said you'd be coming back to your office!"
Kari rubbed her head a little, wanting this man to just stop talking. "Nardole, he is here. He is in his office. He is drinking his tea in his specially chosen tea clothes." The man looked at her, stunned into silence. The Doctor couldn't help but give her a grin, he liked it when she put Nardole in his place.
"I don't understand. How could it not have been headline news?" Bill asked, trying to get back to the topic at hand, the one that was bothering her so much.
The Doctor continued to look at his papers as he answered Bill. "Never underestimate the collective human ability to overlook the inexplicable. Also, the Frost Fair involved a lot of day drinking. May I?" He asked, finally putting down the papers and holding a hand out for her phone. He did a little search of his own and found something much more interesting. "You can always rely upon the papers to miss a headline."
"Lord Sutcliffe drowns in snap thaw… Shock as steel fortune is passed to street urchin!" Bill read from the old newspaper article on her phone. "The new Lord Sutcliffe was found starving on London's streets. The inheritance was contested, everyone got super mad, blah, blah, blah, Urchin boy deemed legitimate. Oh my God, it worked! You did it. You saved them." There was so much excitement in Bill's voice.
"We did it." Kari told her, knowing that it was more than just the three of them that had a hand in making a difference.
While Kari had been talking to Bill, the Doctor had been pestering Nardole, who had started it by pestering the Doctor. "Give me a coin. We'll toss for it. Heads, the TARDIS stays put. Tails, you leave me alone." Nardole relented and gave him a coin, which resulted in the Doctor winning and him going off on a sulk.
Kari grinned at him. "So, finally worked out the trick then?" She asked, knowing that he had been dying to find out how it worked. She was glad that it was all over, glad that she now had some time to spend with the Doctor. A little bit of peace and quiet, that was what she wanted, and she wanted it with the Doctor there.
A/N: I hope that you enjoyed that chapter and the edit to the story line with Kari there.
I'm currently a little stuck and need your help. I have so many ideas swimming around in my head that I am finding it difficult to decide what episode to do next. Does anyone want to make some suggestions?
A big thank you to all of you who take the time to leave reviews, I'm glad to see that people are still enjoying this story and taking the time to read it. You guys are awesome.
