Tarrlok stopped the Satomobile in an unknown location, and before I could do anything, he already had control of my body and was moving me. We went past a dizzying amount of doors and down some stairs. He Bloodbent me into a metal box. "What are…" I gasped out. "What are you doing?" Tarrlok dropped me, and then slammed the door in my face. I took a Metalbending stance and punched the wall, but it didn't budge. Crap, it was platinum. I slumped against the wall of the small box I was in, drained. Tears fell down my cheeks as I realised how futile any of my actions would be…but then…Tenzin's words came to mind. I urge you to meditate on these visions…I believe Aang's spirit is trying to tell you something… Ok. I sat cross-legged, my eyes closing as I set my hands in a meditative pose on my lap. I took a deep breath in through my nose, and slowly let it out through my lips as I let my mind wander.
VISION
Avatar Aang stood out the front of a restaurant, turning when a voice called him. "What are you doing here, Aang?" Aang turned to see his old friend, and now Chief of the Republic City Metalbending Police with some of her officers. "I told you, I have this under control."
"Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't get involved, but if what those victims said is true, we're not dealing with a normal criminal." Aang told her.
"Fine." The Chief smirked and gestured the Avatar after her. "Follow me, Twinkle Toes."
"Toph, I'm forty years old, you think you could stop with the nicknames?"
"Fraid not." The Chief and her officers walked into the restaurant to find a man sitting at a table by himself. "It's over." Toph jabbed a finger in the man's face. "You're under arrest Yakone." The man, a strong man in Waterbender attire, looked up.
"What is Republic City coming to?" The man, Yakone, wondered. "Used to be, a man could enjoy his lunch in peace." Toph bent a metal cable around his wrist and yanked him forward, knocking his table over. Her officers grabbed and restrained him. "What's the big idea?"
"We have dozens of witnesses, Yakone." Aang told him. "We know what you are."
"Take him away!" Toph ordered. Her officers hauled the man away.
"I've beaten every trumped-up charge you yahoos have brought against me!" Yakone spat. "And I'll beat this one too…"
VISION END
I came back into my body with a small gasp. "Aang…" I trailed off. I smiled softly. "Finally after all this time, we connected. There's something more you want to show me, now…" I closed my eyes with a soft sigh. "Let's connect, tell me what you want to know."
VISION
Avatar Aang sat behind Yakone during a trial in City Hall. The council seats consisted of one member from each nation, the Water nation having two, one for the Northern Tribe and one for the Southern tribe. "Yakone has ruled Republic City's criminal empire for years." The prosecution started. "Yet he has always managed to stay out of the law's reach, until now. You will hear testimony, from dozens of his victims, and they will tell you, Yakone has maintained his grip on the underworld by using an ability that has been illegal for decades. Bloodbending." Chief Sokka narrowed his eyes at the insinuation of the forbidden Bending. It was then the defence lawyer stood.
"The prosecution's entire case is built upon the make-believe notion that my client is able to Bloodbend at will, at any time on any day." The defence lawyer revealed. I remind the council that Bloodbending is an incredibly rare skill and it can only be performed during a full moon Yet, the witnesses will claim that my client used Bloodbending at every other time except during a full moon. It would be a mockery of justice to convict a man of a crime that is impossible to commit."
The trial commenced, a laborious task of listening to witnesses, evidence, and all manner of testimonials. "Councilman Sokka will now deliver the verdict." The Balif decreed once the Council returned from their deliberations.
"In my years, I have encountered people born with rare and unique bending abilities." Councilman Sokka said. "Why, I once bested a man with my trusty boomerang who was able to Firebend with his mind. Why, even Metalbending was considered impossible for all of history until our esteemed Chief of Police, Toph Beifong, singlehandedly developed the skill. The overwhelming amount of testimony and evidence has convinced this council that Yakone is one of these unique benders and he exploited his ability to commit these heinous crimes. We find Yakone guilty of all charges and sentence him to life in prison."
Councilman Sokka banged his gavel on the table to seal the verdict. Yakone stood…his eyes bulged…and he Bloodbent the entire council. Toph shot her cables at him, but Yakone's eyes fell to her, and she writhed in pain. Yakone laughed evily as he smirked cruelly at Avatar Aang. Yakone turned to Toph, forcing her to pull a ring of keys out, forcing her to unlock his chains…and then he made everyone fall unconscious. He turned to Avatar Aang, who he had kept awake.
"Yakone…" He groaned. "You won't get away with this…"
"Republic City is mine, Avatar." Yakone told him. "I'll be back one day to claim it." Yakoke threw Aang against the steps of the City Hall and then raced out. He grabbed an ostrich horse drawn cart and went to speed off, but bursting out of the City Hall was Avatar Aang, riding a large air scooter. He followed Yakone through the streets, and cut the cart off from it's mount. Aang circled the cart and watched for Yakone. The Bloodbender jumped out and started to contort Aangs body to his whims. "This time I'm gonna put you to sleep for good!" However, before Yakone could do anything, Aang's tattoo's shone, and his eyes became white. He bent a cage around Yakone and stepped forward, putting his thumb to Yakone's temple and one to his chest.
"I'm taking away your bending." He told the mob boss. "For good." Avatar Aang shone as he removed Yakone's bending. He stepped back with a sigh. "It's over…"
VISION END
My eyes fluttered open as I came too once more. "Aang…I'm so sorry." I said softly. "You were trying to warn me about what Tarrlok could do this whole time." I heard the creaking of a door, and stood shakily.
"My life is a disaster now, thanks to you." I heard Tarrlok's voice echo through the room.
"You can't blame me for your secret getting out." I told him. Tarrlok snarled. "And…I know how you do it…Bloodbending without a full moon…you're Yakone's son."
"I was his son." Tarrlok corrected. "But in order to win Republic City, I had to become someone else. My father failed because he tried to rule this city from it's rotten underbelly. My plan was perfect, I was to be the city's saviour. But you, you ruined everything!"
"You can't run, Tarrlok, everyone knows what you can do, you're a wanted man."
"Oh no. No, I'll escape, start a new life, and you're coming as my hostage." I heard his footsteps retreat, and then pause. "Amon!"
"It is time for you to be equalised." Amon stated.
"You fool, you've never faced Bending like mine." I heard the clack of weapons falling, but footsteps continuing. "What are you?"
"I am the solution." I heard a painful scream as what I can only assume was Amon taking away Tarrlok's bending. "I'll take care of him, you four retrieve the Avatar. Do not underestimate her. Electrocute the box to knock her out before you open it." My eyes blew wide.
"My pleasure." Someone else mused, I can only assume Amon's right-hand man, the Luitenent. Multiple sets of footprints neared me, so I had to think of a solution, and quick. I looked down at myself and then realised, my gloves. I quickly ripped one off and looped it around one of the bars above me, pulling myself up. "It's payback time." I heard the sound of the electrocution batons shoving themselves into my cage, and then the entire thing lit up with electricity. I let out a scream for the duration of time it was happing. The bulb shattered above me, the electricity stopped, and I landed back on the floor with a thud. "Open the box." I quickly laid down on the floor and feigned unconsciousness. "Tie her up."
I heard the door open, and I made my move, I kicked a blast of fire at the Chi Blockers, forcing them to jump back. I quickly turned myself into a quick handstand and jumped out of the box. I used the metal around me and quickly bent it around the Chi Blockers, trapping them against the wall. I quickly raced up the stairs and out of the house. I froze when I saw Amon hauling Tarrlok into a Satomobile. I took a step back, and then Amon saw me. I saw piercing blue eyes underneath his mask. I quickly swirled air around me and pulled snow to mask my escape. I raced to a hill, and bringing some more snow up, I made a board to help me slid down the slope. I, unfortunately, didn't have much control of my escape, and ended up crashing into a tree. I let out a pained moan, curling up at the base of it. I don't know how long I was out for, but then a gentle licking on my nose brought me too. I cracked my eyes open and saw Saria staring at me, with Nuki sniffing at me.
"Hey you two…" I rasped. "You found me…thank you…" I slowly managed to pull myself up and I collapsed onto Nuki's back. My vision faded in and out of blackness, but I definitely heard Nuki howl at one point. There was a dull thud and I slowly opened my eyes. Tenzin and Lin were in my face, making sure I was ok. Tears welled in my eyes at the sight of them.
"Yunoh, oh thank goodness." Tenzin sighed.
"Where's Tarrlok?" Lin demanded. "How did you get away?"
"Can you give her some room!" Korra ordered, shoving her way past them.
"Korra." I sobbed. My sister approached me and gently took me into her arms, I instinctively curled into Korra's body heat.
"I was so worried about you." Korra admitted as she walked me over to Oogi. "Are you ok?"
"I'm with you…" I clutched Korra's shirt. "That's all I care about right now." Korra laid me on Oogi's saddle, pulling me close and brushing my hair out of my eyes.
"You're safe now." Korra promised.
