The duo finally arrived in Pewter City, and are ready to take on the Gym Leader.

"We finally made it to Pewter City!" Makuson said in joy.

"We should head to the pokemon center before we challenge the gym." Matt advised.

"Alright, lets go." Makuson agreed. The two walked around the City in search of a pokemon center, when they finally found it. They headed in and gave their pokemon to Nurse Joy, then walked over to some chairs and sat down.

"The leader of the gym is a Rock-Type user, so both of our starter Pokemon should be super affective." Matt explained.

"Thats good news. This battle should be easy." Makuson said. After recieving their Pokemon from Nurse Joy, they head to the Poke-Mart to pick up some supplies, then went to the Gym.

"Do you think Gyms accept Double Battles?" Makuson asked.

"I don't see why not, it would be a good way to show off Teamwork." Matt replied.

"Lets hope it allows it, we'd be a great team in battle." Makuson said. The two walked around the City for a long time before arriving at the Pewter Gym. They walked through the entrance and arrived in a dark room.

"I can't see anything. Are you sure this is the gym?" Makuson asked.

"Well, it said 'GYM' on the front, I'm pretty sure." Matt replied.

"Then wheres the Gym Lea-" Before Makuson could finish his sentence, all of the lights turned on, and at the far end of the Gym was a man standing on a Podium.

"I am Brock, the Pewter City Gym Leader." Brock stated.

"We've come for a battle. Is it possible to have a Double Battle?" Makuson asked.

"Well, we don't usually do that at this gym. But I can make an Exception." Brock answered.

"Thats great, wheres the battlefield?" Matt asked.

"Its right below your feet." Brock replied. The two looked down, and noticed markings on the ground. They walked to the Challenger Box, and threw out their pokeballs.

"Go, Squirtle!" Makuson yelled.

"Come on out Bulbasaur!" Matt said. Two white lights began to form into the shapes of their pokemon. After a few seconds, Bulbasaur and Squirtle stood, waiting for their opponents. Brock threw two Pokeballs into the air, they both opened revealing two white lights.

"Lets go guys!" Brock said. A Geodude, and a large snake-like pokemon appeared. Makuson brought out his pokedex to Identify the Pokemon.

"Onix, the Rock-Snake pokemon. This pokemon is normally found in large Caves." A computerish voice explained.

"Onix? Sounds like a pretty cool pokemon." Makuson said. A man walked over to the side of the middle of the ring, and began to speak.

"Once both of the pokemon on either side can't battle anymore, the other side wins. Let the battle begin!" The man shouted.

"Squirtle Watergun on Geodude!" Makuson ordered.

"Bulbasaur, Wrap up the Onix with a Vinewhip!" Matt commanded. Squirtle fired a blast of water towards Geodude, before it made contact, geodude got out of the way. Bulbasaur wrapped the Onix in its vines.

"Makuson, aim for the Onix while its stuck in the Vinewhip." Matt said.

"Alright, Squirtle, use watergun on Onix!" Makuson said. Squirtle aimed at Onix, and fired another blast of water, hitting Onix.

"Geodude, use Rock Throw on Bulbasaur to free Onix. Onix, use Dig once your free!" Brock ordered. Geodude picked up a large rock from the ground and threw it at Bulbasaur. It hit the side of Bulbasaur, and Bulbasaur released the Onix. Onix quickly jumped into the air and dug into the ground. Squirtle and Bulbasaur began cautiously looking around, ready for Onix to attack. A bump began to form behind Bulbasaur.

"Bulbasaur, Behind you!" Matt shouted. Onix jumped out out of the ground before bulbasaur took notice.

"Use Dig!" Brock shouted. Onix wrapped the Bulbasaur with its Snake-like body.

"Squirtle, Free Bulbasaur!" Makuson said. Squirtle began to run towards Onix. Before reaching it, it jumped and went into its shell. The shell began to spin rapidly and hit the onix directly.

"Whoa, what was that!?" Makuson asked.

"He used Rapid Spin." Matt replied. Onix had to let go after the damage it had taken. Bulbasaur fell to the ground and landed on its feet.

"Razor Leaf!" Matt ordered. After landing, Bulbasaur began to launch spinning leaves at Onix and Geodude. Onix fell to the ground after being hit by the Razor Leaf. Onix could battle no longer.

"Onix, Return!" Brock said. He pulled out a pokeball and a white light surrounded onix, returning it to its pokeball.

"One down, one to go." Makuson said in Joy.

"Geodude, use Rock Throw on Squirtle!" Brock ordered. Geodude picked up another rock from the ground, this one larger than the last. It threw the rock, and it landed on top of Squirtle.

"Squirtle!" Makuson yelled in worry.

"Nice aim Geodude," Brock shouted. To Makuson's Dismay, the Rock Throw was a Critical Hit. Squirtle fainted.

"Return him Makuson, he's injured." Matt said.

"Alright... Squirtle, Return!" Makuson said. A white light surrounded the turtle-like Pokemon, and Squirtle was brought back into his pokeball. "You did well." Makuson said to the Pokeball.

"Don't worry Makuson, I've got this." Matt asured Makuson.

"Good Luck." Makuson said.

"Bulbasaur, Razor Leaf!" Matt ordered. Bulbasaur launched spinning leaves at Geodude.

"Dodge it!" Brock ordered. Geodude attempted to get away, but the razor leaves still hit him. Geodude fell to the ground injured, but got up after a few moments.

"Hit Bulbasaur with another Rock Throw!" Brock ordered. Geodude once again picked up a rock, and launched it at Bulbasaur.

"Dodge, and grab Geodude with your Vinewhip!" Matt commanded. Bulbasaur jumped out of the rock's path, and grabbed Geodude with its vines.

"Geodude, try to break free!" Brock shouted. But Geodude was too weak to get out of the vines.

"Now, Bring it up, and slam it to the ground!" Matt ordered. Bulbasaur did as told, and slammed Geodude to the ground. Geodude rolled over to brock, and could no longer battle.

"Good job Geodude." Brock returned Geodude to it's pokeball.

"The Winners are Makuson and Matt!" The man announced.

"We did it!" Makuson yelled.

"I did most of the work." Matt said. Brock walked over to the two, and handed them each a Boulder Badge.

"This badge represents that you've beaten me. Once you earn seven more, you can participate in the Pokemon League. Good Job to both of you. Makuson, you'll have to train your Squirtle more for it to get better in Battle." Brock said.

"I'll be sure to train him more." Makuson assured. The two left after saying goodbye to Brock, and continued on they're journey to the next Gym, located in Cerulean City.
