Makuson, Matt, Misty, and Bolt have just made it to Fuschia city, where Matt and Makuson will get their fifth gym badges. Before heading off straight to the gym, like always, they decide to go to a Pokemon Center to heal their pokemon. Currently, Makuson has two pokemon, Graveler, and Wartortle. Matt on the other hand just caught his third. Aerodactyl, his other two are bulbasaur and ninetales. Misty, like Makuson, has two pokemon, staryu and goldeen. Bolt had to return his Raichu to the gym for his dad to use, so he has two, Magnemite and Electabuzz. They then arrived at the pokecenter, gave Nurse Joy their pokemon, and went to sit on the couch.
"So, what pokemon will you use against this gym?" Bolt asked Makuson and Matt.
"I'll use my newly evolved wartortle!" Makuson exclaimed joyfully.
"And I will use my bulbasaur," Matt said. All four of them then heard a bell, turned to the desk and saw Nurse Joy standing their holding all of their pokeballs in a tray.
"Your pokemon are healed and ready to go!" exclaimed Joy.
"Thanks!" They all yelled in unison. After a few short minutes of walking, they finally made it to the Fuschia City Gym.
"We're here!" Makuson exclaimed.
"Great, we'll get our fifth badges!" Matt yelled.
"Maybe," Misty teased.
"Yea, this gym leader here is really tough" Bolt added.
"Hey, we're experience trainers! We can surely win the fifth badge!" Makuson argued. The two then started to yell at eachother while Bolt pulled Matt away.
"Matt, this gym leader uses poison pokemon. If your pokemon gets poisoned, it will continue to get weaker rapidly." Bolt said.
"Yea, I'll need to try my best," Matt said. They then turned to the two fighting, and saw Makuson on the floor with a bump on his head. Misty had one foot on him holding her hammer. Matt and Bolt began to laugh at Makuson's misfortune.
"Remind me not to get in a fight with her," Makuson said to Matt.
"I am not getting involved," Matt said. They all then walked into the gym and immediatly saw what looked like the gym leader.
"My name is Janine, have you come for a badge?" Janine asked.
"Yes, can we fight as a team?" Makuson asked.
"No, one at a time." Janine stated.
"You can go first Makuson," Matt offered. Makuson agreed, and headed towards the Pokemon battle field.
"Why would you just let him go first like that, with no argument or anything?" Bolt asked.
"Well, I plan to observe how she fights. If i do, i'll have the advantage when i'm fighting her." Matt lectured.
"Good plan," Bolt said.
"The gym leader and the trainer will use only one pokemon, If your pokemon has fainted or is unable to battle, The other trainer will win. If the challenger beats Janine,
he will earn an official gym badge. If Janine wins, he will be unable to battle for twenty-four hours," The referee stated.
"Sounds good to me!" Makuson exclaimed.
"Go, Wartortle!" Makuson yelled. He then threw a pokeball into the air, and a white light started to form. The white light began to fade, and a Blue Water pokemon with a turtle shell appeared.
"Go, Weezing" Yelled Janine. She tossed a pokeball, and a white light formed into a purple ball, with another small ball attached to its face. The small ball also had a face.
"Let the battle begin" the referee yelled.
"Weezing, Smokescreen" Ordered Janine. Weezing unleashed a purple smoke from its body. Wartortle couldnt see through it, so it couldn't attack.
"Tackle!" The gym leader screamed. Then from out of the smoke, a purple figure appeared and tackled wartortle to the ground. Makuson began getting worried for his pokemon
"Are you ok wartortle?" Makuson asked.
"Wartortle!" the turtle pokemon yelled.
"Watergun!" Makuson ordered. The pokemon launched water into the weezing, causing it to fall to the ground. But it soon got up, and unleashed more smoke.
"Sludge!" Janine ordered. The pokemon launched sludge at wartortle.
"Direct hit!" Janine yelled. Wartortle fell, and was stuck on the ground, due to the sludge surrounding him.
"Wartortle!" Makuson yelled worried for his first pokemon.
"War" Wartortle let out before it fainted.
"Wartortle has fainted, Janine is the winner!" The referee yelled.
"Return," Janine and Makuson said at once, returning their pokemon.
"He lost!" Matt yelled.
"I knew this wasn't going to be easy." Bolt said. Makuson then walked up to the three and sighed.
"Guess I can't win all of my battles," Makuson sadly spoke.
"Sorry you lost," Misty said.
"Not your fault, anyway, Matt." Makuson said staring at Matt.
"What?" Matt asked.
"I lost, so you have to beat her for me," Makuson replied.
"Ill try my best!" Matt exclaimed. He then ran towards the field, Through a pokeball in the air, and prepared for battle.
"Go bulbasaur!" Matt yelled. A bulbasaur appeared, and stared down its opponent.
"Go, Venomoth!" Janine yelled. A moth-like pokemon appeared, it was purple, and had long grey wings.
"Vine whip!" Matt commanded. The bulbasaur launched two vines at its opponent.
"Dodge it, and use poison fang!" Janine yelled. The poison pokemon dodged the vines easily, and flew towards bulbasaur. It landed on its bulb, and began to sink its teeth into it.
"BULBA!" Bulbasaur screamed in pain.
"Bulbasaur!" Matt yelled worried for his grass pokemon.
"Razor Lea-" But before Matt could finish, bulbasaur began to grow a white light. His serious expression soon turned into a joyfull one.
"Its evolving!" Matt screamed in joy. The bulbasaur then stopped glowing, and everyone stared.
"Ivy!" the pokemon yelled.
"Its an ivysaur!" Makuson, Misty, and Bolt yelled.
"Ivysaur, try a solar beam!" Matt ordered. The pokemon began to glow, and soon, unleashed a ray of light. Venomoth was lucky enough to just dodge the attack by an inch. Ivysaur began to glow a light purple, and fell to the floor.
"Perfect, the poison took affect!" Janine yelled. Ivysaur soon enough completely blacked out.
"Ivysaur has fainted, Janine wins the second battle!" the referee exclaimed.
"Return!" Janine yelled.
"Return," Matt said.
"You did a good job, but you should train more." Janine said from across the room. She then ran over to the four.
"You should go to route 17, I hear there are some great trainers their." Janine said. The four then headed off to where Janine directed them.
"We're gonna get some good training!" Makuson yelled.
"Yea," Matt added
"And when we get their, you might be able to catch new pokemon!" Bolt yelled.
"Hopefully," Misty added. The four then head off to route 17, to train for their lost battle.
