"So Makuson, do you know anything about Mary?" Matt asked.
"Well, I talked to her yesterday. She said she only trained Electric and Fire types, so I've already got it figured out." Makuson replied.
"Thats good to hear." Matt said.
"The first round of the Pokemon League will begin in 10 minutes. Makuson versus Mary!" A voice over the speakphones yelled.
"Thats your cue, good luck in the fight." Matt said.
"Don't lose too early." Garrus said.
"Don't worry, I'll make it far enough to beat you." Makuson replied. Makuson stood up, and walked towards the front gate. He walked into the battlefield, where a large audience was gathered all around him. Mary was already standing across from him, waiting for the battle.
"How long have you been here?" Makuson asked.
"I actually just got here." Mary replied.
"Each side gets two Pokemon. Once a Pokemon is in battle, it can not be returned until the battle is over. Once both pokemon on either side are unable to battle, the other side wins!" The announcer yelled.
"Go, Golem!" Makuson yelled.
"Come on out Rapidash!" Mary said.
"Damn! I thought she was gonna use an electric type... I'll have to figure something out." Makuson thought to himself.
"Let the battle begin!" The announcer yelled. The audience began to roar after the battle had started.
"Rapidash, Flamethrower!" Mary ordered.
"Golem, Dodge it using Rollout!" Makuson commanded. Rapidash launched a line of flame heading straight towards Golem. Golem quickly turned into a ball, and rolled left to avoid the attack. After dodging the attack, Golem turned around and head straight for Rapidash.
"Shoot another Flamethrower!" Mary yelled. Before Golem made it to Rapidash, Rapidash shot a flame that stopped Golem in its tracks. Golem was launched back from the impact of the Flamethrower.
"Are you alright?" Makuson asked concerned. Golem stood up and let out a roar, ready to fight.
"Rapidash Flame Charge!" Mary yelled. Rapidash emerged itself in flames, then began to charge towards Golem.
"Golem, counter it with Rollout!" Makuson ordered. Golem rolled into a ball, and head straight towards Rapidash. The two Pokemon collided, and a smoke cloud blocked everyones view of the battle. After a few moments, the smoke cleared, and everyone began to cheer. Golem was lying on its back, unconciousness. Rapidash was barely standing, but still able to battle. Matt, Garrus, Misty, and Bolt sat in the audience, in shock that Golem had lost.
"I hope Makuson's next pokemon is a water-type." Matt said.
"Knowing Makuson, I doubt it." Garrus said.
"He'll definetly use one." Misty said.
"Hopefully." Matt said.
"Golem is down, Makuson only has one Pokemon left!" The announced yelled.
"Crap, If she has an electric type with her, I'm done for." Makuson thought.
"So, who's your next pokemon?" Mary asked confidently.
"You'll see." Makuson said. Makuson threw a Pokeball into the air. A White light began to form into a Pokemon. After a few seconds, a Vaporeon was revealed.
"Rapidash, Flamethrower!" Mary yelled.
"Counter it with Watergun!" Makuson ordered. Both Pokemon launched their attacks. The attacks colided, but because Water is powerful against Fire, Vaporeon's attack extinguished Rapidash's Flamethrower.
The Watergun hit Rapidash directly, and Rapidash was launched back from the Knockback. Because Rapidash was injured, it was defeated immediatly.
"Rapidash is unable to battle. Each side has one pokemon remaining!" The announced yelled.
"Rapidash, Return!" Mary screamed. Rapidash was returned to its Pokeball.
"Well, whats your next Pokemon?" Makuson asked confidently.
"Go Flareon!" Mary yelled. A Flareon appaered out of the pokeball, and after seing its opponent, grinned. Vaporeon also recognized this Flareon, and prepared for Battle.
"Vaporeon, lets show that Flareon who's boss!" Makuson said.
"Flareon, Tackle!" Mary yelled.
"You to Vaporeon!" Makuson ordered. The pokemon collided, and both took damage. They were sent back, and both landed on their feet.
"Flareon, Heatbutt!" Mary yelled.
"Dodge it and use Watergun!" Makuson ordered. Flareon charged at Vaporeon with a headbutt, and before vaporeon could jump out of the way, Flareon hit Vaporeon.
"Whoa, Flareons Fast!" Makuson said.
"You haven't seen anything yet!" Mary yelled.
"Vaporeon, are you alright?" Makuson asked
"Vapor!" Vaporeon Roared. Vaporeon stood up ready to battle.
"Flamethrower!" Mary yelled.
"Watergun!" Makuson ordered. Both pokemon launched their prime attacks, and they collided. Unlike Rapidash's flamethrower, Flareon's was much stronger. No matter how much each Pokemon tried, neither side would back down.
"Vaporeon, Jump up and launch another one!" Makuson commanded. Vaporeon quickly lept up, and launched another Watergun. Flareon noticed the Watergun too late to dodge, and was hit directly.
"That looked like a Critical Hit!" The announced yelled. Flareon was unable to battle.
"Makuson has won the battle!" The announced yelled. The audience began cheering for Makuson's Victory. Matt, Garrus, Misty, and Bolt were all glad Makuson won.
"Flareon... return." Mary said. "You did well..."
"Theres always next year." Makuson said. Makuson put his hand out, and Mary grabbed his hand.
"Thanks. Good battle, Next time we fight, i'll definetly win." Mary said.
"We'll see." Makuson said. Mary left the arena, and Makuson walked through the other door, where is friends awaited him.
"Good job Makuson!" Matt said.
"Thanks, you'll be in the next battle, so I wish you luck." Makuson said.
"Thanks, I've researched my opponent a bit, his name is Sean, and he only trains Grass types.
"That shouldn't be a problem for you." Makuson said.
"Lets hope so," Matt replied. Makuson has won his first battle in the Pokemon League, the next battle will be Matt against Sean.
