Ten years later, Wakko woke up to bright sunlight streaming through the window. The house was hustling him along, making sure he got out the door at a reasonable time. This was a big day.
He pulled his favorite sweater off of his desk and slipped it on, finishing off his look with his signature baseball cap.
As he prepared to walk out the door, he whispered one final thing to himself: "Make your family proud."
He vaulted down the stairs, cartwheeling and making a bit of a scene, but he didn't really care. This was a big day, after all. "Good morning, Oma!" he called as he tumbled past a picture of his grandmother.
Three little kids watched as Wakko started setting the table. He noticed the curious, excited looks and couldn't help but giggle a little at them.
"When does the magic gift happen?" a young squirrel piped up, holding a mug of coffee in his paws.
"My cousin's gift ceremony is tonight." Wakko set down another plate.
"What's his gift?" a brunette girl squeaked, a small alien clutched in her fist.
"We're gonna find out!" Wakko hollered back.
"What's your gift?" the squirrel asked.
Wakko picked up a stack of plates and turned to the children. "Who's asking?" he joked.
"We are!" the kids all squealed.
"Well, 'we are,' I can't just talk about myself. After all, I'm only part of the amazing Family Scratchansniff."
"Who're all the amazing Scratchansniffs?" the kids cried out in unison.
"Aw, you're not gonna leave me alone, are you? Haus, can you help me out a little?" Wakko set down his dishes and stomped one foot down on the ground, cueing the house to create an energetic song.
Wakko felt the rhythm flowing through his bloodstream as drawers opened and closed, tiles rose and fell, and doors creaked. "Drawers! Floors! Doors! Let's go!"
He danced his way upstairs and down the hall, knocking on walls and singing as he went. "This is our home, we've got every generation. So full of music, a rhythm of its own design."
Wakko pushed open one of the doors along the hall, and Dot lifted her head up with a cute pout, mad that she'd been woken up. Wakko just kept singing, "This is my family, a perfect constellation!"
He made a mad dash past his brother, who was running on the tile floor like a treadmill. "So many stars and everybody gets to shine!"
Dr. Scratchansniff stepped out of his room, with his magic glowing candle in hand. Of course, Wakko had to sing about it.
"Oh! But let's be clear, my Opa runs this show. Whoa, he led us here so many years ago. Whoa! And every year our family blessings grow. There's just a lot you've simply got to know, so," he ran out the door and out into the bustling town, singing all the way.
"Welcome to the family Scratchansniff, the home of the family Scratchansniff! We're on our way! Where are the people are so fantastic, we're positive that I'm part of the Scratchansniff."
The kids all gathered around Wakko, chattering about the family flowing out of the house. "Oh my gosh, it's them!" "What are the gifts?" "I can't remember all the gifts."
"All right, all right, relax!" Wakko chuckled.
"It is physically impossible to relax!" the brunette complained.
"Tell us everything! What are your powers?" a young blonde girl spoke up.
"Just tell us what everyone can do!"
Wakko grabbed the cup of coffee out of the squirrel's paws. "And that's why coffee's for grownups."
He pulled the children over to a mural of the Scratchansniff family and pointed out each member as he sung about them.
"My Tante Rita, her mood affects the weather. When she's unhappy, well, the temperature gets weird. My Tante Minerva-" He was cut off by a group of townspeople.
"We don't talk 'bout Minerva!"
"They say she saw the future. One day she disappeared." He slid along the road towards his dad, a little mouse selling freshly cooked food.
"Oh! And that's my dad, the Brain, yeah here's his deal. Whoa! He's taking over the world with his meals. Whoa! His recipes are hypnotic for real. If you're all scared, imagine how I feel." Wakko got slapped in the cheek with a piece of cheese. "Dad!"
"Welcome to the family Scratchansniff, the home of the family Scratchansniff! Hey, coming through! Where all the people are so fantastic, I'm positive that I'm part of the family Scratchansniff."
Wakko pointed out two men from his family. "Two guys fell in love with the family Scratchansniff, and now they're part of the family Scratchansniff. So yeah, Onkle Runt here married Rita, my other dad married Brain, yeah. That's how my Opa became our Opa Scratchansniff! Let's go, let's go!"
"Ve svear to alvays help zose around us und earn ze miracle zat somehow found us. Ze town keeps growing, ze vorld keeps turning, but vork und dedication vill keep ze miracle burning. Und each new generation must keep ze miracle burning." Dr. Scratchansniff shot Wakko a harsh look as he said this.
"Wait, who's a sister and who's a cousin?"
"There's so many people!"
"How do you keep them all straight?"
Wakko giggled. "Okay, okay, okay, okay. So many kids in our house, so let's turn the sound up! You know why? I think it's time for a grandkid roundup!"
"Grandkid roundup!" the townspeople chanted.
"My cousin Bobby can hear a pin drop, then Pesto shapeshifts and Squit's getting his gift today. My older siblings, Angelina and Yakko, one strong, one graceful, perfect in every way."
The townspeople swooned over Dot, who was creating flowers everywhere. "Angelina," they whispered.
"Grows a flower and the town goes wild," Wakko groaned.
"Angelina."
"She's the perfect golden child." Wakko looked a bit jealous of his perfect sister.
"Yakko! Yakko!" the townspeople called.
"And Yakko's super strong! The beauty and the brawn do no wrong." Wakko sighed before continuing singing.
"That's life in the family Scratchansniff. Now you know the family Scratchansniff. Where are the people are so fantastic, it's positive that's who we are in the family Scratchansiff. Auf weidersehen!"
The little children circled around him, cutting off his desperate escape. "But what's your power?"
Wakko stiffened. "Ha! Well, I've gotta go, the life of a Scratchansniff. But now you all know the family Scratchansniff. I think I need to write my journal out in hieroglyphs. So just to review the family Scratchansniff. Let's go!"
"But what about Wakko?" the children begged.
"It starts with my Opa, and then Tante Rita; she handles the weather. My dad the Brain can drive you insane with just some sugar cane. My other dad Pinky is accident-prone and dinky."
The kids kept following along behind, begging to hear about Wakko's gift.
"Hey, you said you wanna know what everyone does, I've got sisters and cousins and…"
"Wakko!" The kids were pulling at his shirt now.
"My cousin Pesto won't stop until he makes you smile today. My cousin Bobby can hear this whole chorus a mile away!"
He pointed to a lady with blonde hair tending to a sick man. "Look, it's Mrs. Hello Nurse, hey, you can marry my sister 'cause we're diverse, but between you and me, she's a teeny bit of a curse!"
Dot shot Wakko a glare.
"Yo, I said too much, and thank you, but I really gotta go! My family's amazing, and I'm in my family, so, well…"
"Wakko Warner!"
