" Ms Yazmen please. " Yhew, that was a close one.
As I stumbled towards the front of the class, I was fully aware of Holly starring at me. I don't know how I know, but I just do.
" Awwwww I was kinda hoping that you'd get paired up with Holly. " said Zoe, still giggling.
" Oh shut up, you don't have a single say in this. " I answered crossly. " You only started hanging out with us 2 weeks ago. "
Alright, I'm case you're asking what's going on, it all started with my Holly drama and her getting kicked out from that " popular girl gang. " The Slytherins apparently decided that she's too smart for their gang. And though that applies to us having a new buddy around, that also means that one more person to tease me about all that Holly business.
" Now everyone listen up, you and your partner will be taking turns to Discharm each other. Remember only it with one person cast the charm at a time or- "
" You know what to do. " said Zoe, looking at me expectantly.
" You could never listen. "
" And the time when we almost hit Dan? "
" Oh that one was e-pic! "
" Then the time when we almost got caught? " reclined Zoe, still giggling
" I know! Flitwick missed us by an inch! " I exclaimed.
While walking out of the West towers, Zoe and I recounted the list of adventures we've had during charms, but how about we don't talk about it, shall we?
" You know what Zoe, " I said, " If I would've never had a crush on Holly, it definitely would be you. "
" Really?… Um. Alright. " mumbled Zoe, not looking at me. And just at that very moment, a voice snapped at me.
" Boo! " it was Stacy.
" Stacy! " I yelled annoying at my friend.
" What's up y'alls! " came Jessica, squeezing in between Stace and I.
" Hey Jess! " we greeted.
" Aren't you supposed to be at Herbology? " asked Zoe curiously.
" Nah, " she announced, checking her books. " A nasty boggart appeared scared Professor Sprout to her knees. " she explained. " So let's just say it most definitely left a mess to the Greenhouses. "
" Good job Herbology's cancelled. " whispered Stacy, leaning in towards Zoe and I, " Or she won't be having any sleep at all for the rest of the week! " we all laughed but immediately stopped once we realized that Jessica was turning on us.
" What? " called an increasingly suspicious Jessica.
" Nothing! " we all chanted, still giggling.
" Y'all's better! " replied Jessica, " Anyway, you guys don't wanna be late. I heard Professor McGonagall has an announcement to make at the Great Hall. "
As we all stuttered away to our separate tables, I noticed the Professor walking towards the front of the hall.
" Attention everyone! " gathered Professor McGonagall and the entire hall went silent. " Good, good. Everyone settle down. So, I've just got news about the school ball, " Almost immediately, there was a flutter of excitement around the hall and of course, involves my friends teasing me about Holly. " Now, I know everyone's very excited and all that, but one thing at a time. There's also a hogsmeade trip available this weekend for anyone who's signed up for the trip. " Once the announcement's finish, all my friends winked at me. I guess I could read their minds at this point.
" Seriously guys? " I asked, " I'm not gonna ask Holly out. Y'all's know that. After all, it is a huge risk, it's just something Jess overheard, so I won't bet on it. Ok? "
" Yeah right. " answered Zoe triumphantly, and we all laughed.
" Shut up Zoe. " I said, my face going red. But yeah, maybe my crazy brain really is considering this…
As I lied on my bed in Ravenclaw tower, I imagined what it would be like if I asked Holly out. Oh my god, that would literally be the best thing ever. But then, could I be it on some random thing that Jess overheard? And after all, could all this just be some huge prank that my friends cooked up? I dunno, and I still need time to think about this. It's all too confusing to cope with now.
" Hey, " I looked up, it was Zoe.
" Hey. " I greeted unenthusiastically, not looking up.
" What's wrong? " she asked, sitting beside me.
" Nothing. " I lied, but she doesn't look convinced.
" Is this about Holly? " but she didn't even need to wait for an answer. " Of course it's about Holly. It's always about Holly. " she mumbled.
" Go away. " I said, pulling my blankets nearer to me.
" You know that you could always talk to me, ok? " comforted Zoe gently, that's another thing I like about Zoe. She doesn't try to push an answer out of me and I always feel like I could open up to her that way.
" I'm scared. " I said after a while.
" What? " she asked in a blank.
" I said that I'm scared. " I repeated, I was looking directly at her now. " About Holly. I want to ask her out, but it's a huge risk. "
Zoe's soft brown eyes lay on me comfortably, and signed deeply. " You know while I was in Muggle school, I met a boy. He was nice to me. The one day, something magical happened, I wanted to tell him, but I can't. It's weird that way, when you have feelings that you seem to never figure out. "
I glanced at Zoe, she always seems to get me. I don't know how, but she just does.
" You need bed now. " she commanded, turning the lights off.
