Chapter Six
While Don was in his meeting, Megan briefed Colby and David on the latest developments on the case, then they started going through the other cases to see if it could have been the same guy.
Charlie started thinking of an algorithm that could help with the case while Larry decided to help his former prodigy out as he possibly could. He also just liked being there with his old student and the FBI agents, especially Megan.
It was almost an hour before Don finally returned from the meeting, looking more baffled than anything else, which concerned Megan.
"What's wrong?" She asked
"Well, there's no immediate threat but instead the box just contained magazine covers of the Lauers, along with a note that said that Jake stole Aria away from him and that she will soon be his." Don said
"So it could be an angry ex?" Megan asked, having heard some rumors about some of Aria's previous relationships in the tabloids but nothing concrete.
"Don't know, before she met Jake, she dated a couple singers, all splits seem to have been amicable and nothing out of the ordinary from the looks of it, despite what the magazines would say." Don said, knowing what Megan was thinking.
"Maybe some delusional fan?" Colby asked, now feeling more uneasy about the case.
"That is a possibility, considering that many celebrities, mostly women, are stalked by those types, in a few cases even killed." Megan said, hoping that wouldn't happen in this case.
Don nodded, thinking of a stalking case that turned deadly that he worked on when he was in New Mexico and it's something he rather not think about at the moment.
"Okay, we'll still look through the exes, one of them still lives in LA, so me and David will go talk to him while you guys look through the fanmail that Aria had received over the years, see if that gets us anywhere." He said
"And Larry and I will work to filter out anyone who wouldn't fit as a suspect." Charlie said, secretly relieved that he can help out his brother and the team and Larry felt the same way.
Don nodded, thanking them before heading out with David.
Megan just sighed to herself, knowing the case was potentially more complicated than it already was and she hoped they didn't have to get too personal with the Lauers, given how public the couple already were.
'Hopefully we won't have to deal with the tabloids too much, I really hate those guys and it would only hamper the case' She thought to herself before going to the war room to look at the newly arrived boxes of the fan mail.
'Hopefully we'll find an answer in one of these boxes.'
